The purpose of this study is to analyze high school students' understanding and use of the recommended books lists. The survey distributed to high school students in seven high schools located in Seoul, and 311 students responded. Using SPSS 24, the data was analyzed by frequency, binary logistic model, and one-way ANOVA. Results show the followings. First, the meaningful factors affecting students' use of recommended books lists are gender, grade levels, and the degree to which students think recommended books lists include the books that are suitable and interesting. Particularly, the degree to which students think recommended books lists include the suitable books for them is the strong factor affecting students' use of the recommended books lists. Second, male students are less likely to use recommended books lists than female students. Male students consistently are less likely to use the recommended books lists made by school librarians, subject teachers, and reading experts and/or organizations. Third, teacher-librarians believed that the recommended books lists would help students who do not enjoy reading and have difficulties in reading. However, the study finds that students who enjoy reading and read well are more willing to use the recommended books lists made by school librarians, subjects teachers, and reading experts and/or organizations than those who do not. Fourth, students are most willing to use the recommended books lists for college preparation. The findings suggest the further research topics in designing the recommended books lists suitable for high school students and in scaffolding the high school students' use of book information reflected in recommended books lists.
The purpose of this study was to identify the moderated effects of emotional intelligence on the relationship between academic stress and smartphone addiction among high school students. Subjects were 207 associate high school students. The data were collected using self -report questionnaire from December 1 to December 23, 2019. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, pearson correlation and hierarchical multiple regression with SPSS/WIN 23. Mean point of academic stress(5 point scale) was 2.75, emotional intelligence(5 point scale) was 3.63 and smartphone addiction(4 point scale) was 2.18. Academic stress were negative correlation with emotional intelligence(r=-.15, p =.030) and positive correlation with smartphone addiction(r=.25, p<.001). Emotional intelligence were negative correlation with smartphone addiction(r=-.25, p<.001). Emotional intelligence has been shown to modulate the relationship between academic stress and smartphone addiction(F=10.45. p<.001) Therefore, to decrease the academic stress and smartphone addiction of high school students, It is necessary to develop the program for increase emotional intelligence of high school students.

The purpose of this study was to explore high school science teachers' perceptions and practices regarding the implementation of achievement standards-based assessment (ASA) in their science teaching. To achieve this, semi-structured individual interviews were conducted with 20 science teachers who had implemented ASA. The participating teachers were asked to share their opinions on ASA implementation, the effects of ASA on changes in their teaching, and students' reactions to ASA. The results were as follows. Most of the teachers recognized that the initial intention behind ASA implementation began to be realized in schools only after course rankings were no longer required to be indicated. Some teachers felt that ASA allowed them to focus on students' progress, rather than evaluating them by achievement scores. It also helped some teachers identify students who were experiencing learning difficulties and offer appropriate support. In addition, some teachers acknowledged being able to reorganize their science lessons according to the essential goals of science subjects in the curriculum and provide more detailed feedback on students' achievements. However, some teachers expressed difficulties in setting an appropriate level of achievement for their lessons or in evaluating students' progress using qualitative methods. Lastly, the teachers expressed concerns about the remarkably lower motivation of some students for learning science after the indication of course ranking was no longer required.
To study between the anthropometric conditions and personality factors of high school girl students, a simple questionaires and personality test were administrated to 385 high school girl students on the First and Second graders in Taegu city. Students surveyed were divided into 3 groups by using BMI : they are 131 thin group, 157 normal group, and 97 obese group. The results were summarized as following. They recognized exactly about obese status of themselves(p<0.001). The rate in obese group was more than in thin group for question' don't like snacks' but there was not significant relationship statistically. The number in obese group was lesser than thin group for sancks before sleeping, and there was significant relationship statistcally(p<0.05). About sports, obese group had more favorite than thin group, and there was also significant relationship statistically(p<0.05). The rate of Mothers' occupation in the obese group was higher than in the thin group, but there was no significant relationship statistically. In personality test, obese group had stronger dominance, which showed significant relationship(p<0.01) and concerning reflectiveness thin group, which was of great use(p<0.05). In other 7 categories, there was no signficant relationship statistically among those 3 groups.

Background: The mortality rate from tuberculosis in Korea is the highest among OECD countries. However, general public's knowledge of tuberculosis is limited. Currently, exposure to tuberculosis in high school students is a big problem. Methods: A written questionnaire was distributed to 78 high school students in Busan. Results: Almost all the students had heard of tuberculosis (95%). However, their knowledge of tuberculosis was very superficial and limited. The attitude about tuberculosis was 'nothing to worry about' and there was no systemic education in the school or home. Conclusion: Although tuberculosis is quite serious in Korea, most people know little about it and have the wrong attitude. In particular, high school students are easily exposed to tuberculosis because they spend most of their time as a group. Therefore, education of high school students on tuberculosis is strongly recommended in schools and the home. In addition, medical practitioners should play a role in education and prevention programs.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of offering similar experiences for hypothesis-generation based on abduction. Two hundred and seventy eight students in Seoul(8th and 10th grades) were requested to propose causal questions and generate hypotheses after observing an unfamiliar situation. Then, after having been presented numerous similar experimental situations to initial situation, the students were asked to regenerate a hypothesis. When the $X^2$ analysis was done to determine differences in hypothesis generation before and after offering the similar experimental situations, a meaningful difference appeared(p<.001). This study proposes that offering similar experimental situations ease hypothesis-generation based on abductive reasoning. Additionally, the second meaningful difference was discovered when the $X^2$ analysis was carried out to find differences in causal question proposal and hypothesis generation among students who had varied cognitive levels(p<.05) Considering the findings of the study, a progressive stage offering similar scenarios may further abductive reasoning while implementing lessons related to hypothesis generation in middle and high school.
China's independent college approved private education investment, and facilitates the use of funds to support individual investors, corporations, and society. In contrast to China's public universities, the college guarantee private school method of operation. Its bachelor's degree, admission to students, the establishment of a separate corporation, and the recognition of scholastic achievements, was established with the aim of ensuring the diversity of higher education institutions in China. However, since the early 1990s, the independent college, which has emerged as a new way of higher education in China, has achieved quantitative growth over the past 30 years, but the quality of education has not yet grown. The reason why the independent college in China is interested is that it receives support from the facilities and professors of the original public college, and the major in which it is established and shares the reputation of the university. This study tried to analyze the policy of independent college which is a unique higher education institution in China. For this purpose, we use Four-Dimensional Framework to analyze the problem of China's independent colleges. It examines the profitability and non-profitability of independent college as a normative dimension and analyzes the Chinese society that have the old "guanxi" culture core in China. On the structural dimension, we analyzed the structure of the relationship in educational administrative institution. On the constituentive dimension, we observed that the various stakeholders who are interested in the independent college policy. Finally, we searched for future directions of the independent college centered on the process of legalization of independent colleges in technical dimension. The results of this analysis suggest the implications of the direction of China's independent college policy.

The main objective of this study is to propose numerical guideline for the improvement of educational environment about high school girls. In order to analyze feature of the somatotype of the high school girls, analysis of this study was performed about 25 body parts such as height(7 parts), width(4 parts), thickness(4 parts), circumference(5 parts), length(4 parts), and body weight. For the specific comparison on body dementions, Mollison's comparison graph were used.

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of small-scale chemistry(SSC) laboratory activities implemented in high school chemistry II classes on the students' inquiry process skills and science-related attitudes. For this study, 112 students in the 12th grade were chosen and divided into an experimental and a control group. Seven SSC lab programs that can replace the traditional experiments in chemistry II textbooks were selected and administered to the experimental group while the traditional textbook experiments were administered to the control group. The results showed that there was a significant difference in the enhancement of inquiry process skills between the two groups while no significant difference was found in science-related attitudes. Further analysis showed that the difference in the inquiry process skills came from the basic inquiry process skills. The experimental group students thought that the SSC experiments have many advantages compared to the traditional experiments, e.g., individual work, learning lab and theory in parallel, short experiment time, safety, environmental aspects, etc. These results suggest that the SSC lab programs are valuable in high school chemistry classes and developing and distributing various SSC lab programs is needed to replace the traditional experiments in the current textbooks.

This study analyzed the trends and causes of the decline in Korean students' positive experiences about science (PES). To do this, 4th to 10th grade students were sampled by grade at general elementary, middle, and high schools in Seoul, and then a questionnaire was administered to ask the students about their PES and the causes for their decline. The results of one-way ANOVA for Test for Indicators of Positive Experiences about Science (TIPES) revealed that there were no statistically significant differences according to grade and school level in the overall mean of TIPES scores. However, the results were slightly different for each sub-component. That is, in 'science academic emotion,' the mean of elementary school students was statistically significantly higher than that of middle school students. In addition, the mean of 4th graders was significantly higher than the mean of middle school 1st graders, middle school 3rd graders, and high school 1st graders, respectively. The mean of high school students was statistically significantly higher than that of middle school students in 'science-related career aspiration.' In the 'science-related self-concept', 'science learning motivation,' and 'science-related attitude,' the differences in scores according to grade and school level were not statistically significant. The main causes of the decline in each sub-components of PES were somewhat different depending on the school level. Based on these results, the ways to improve students' PES were sought according to grade and school level.
