  • The EPCglobal leading the development in RFID standards proposed Event Cycle Specification (ECSpec) and Event Cycle Reports (ECReports) for the standard about RFID middleware interface. ECSpec is a specification for filtering and collecting RFID tag data and is treated as a Continuous Query (CQ) processed during fixed time intervals repeatedly. ECReport is a specification for describing the results after ECSpec is processed. Thus, it is efficient to apply Query Indexing technique designed for the continuous query processing. This query index processes ECSpecs as data and tag events as queries for efficiency. In logistics environment, the similar or same products are transferred together. Also, when RFID tags attached to the products are acquired, the acquisition events occur massively for the short period. For these properties, it is inefficient to process the massive events one by one. In this paper, we propose a technique reducing similar search process by considering tag events which are collected by the report period in ECSpec, as a range query. For this group processing, we suggest a queuing method for collecting tag events efficiently and a structure for generating range queries in the queues. The experiments show that performance is enhanced by the proposed methods.

Storage-life and Palatability Extension of Betula platyphylla Sap Using Lactic Acid Bacteria Fermentation (유산균 발효를 이용한 자작나무 수액의 저장성 및 기호성 증진 기술)

  • In this study, a new method for extending storage-life and palatability of Betula platyphylla sap by applying lactic acid bacteria fermentation was developed. The fluids of saps were filtered through 0.22 ${\mu}m$ membrane filter and each fermented by 8 different lactic acid bacteria which are Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus brevis, Leuconostoc mesenteroides, Leuconostoc lactis, Lactococcus lactis, Pediocossus pentosaceus, Pediococcus dextrinicus, Streptococcus thermophilus. All the tested lactic acid bacteria except P. dextrinicus grew fast up to $10^6{\sim}10^7cfu/mL$ levels and lowered pH down to about pH 4 levels in 48 hours in both saps. The produced organic acids and lowered pH level inhibited the growth of spoilage microorganisms almost completely for 2 weeks during storage at room temperature. Addition of xylitol in the saps before fermentation accelerated the growth of lactic acid bacteria and increased the sweetness and overall taste of final product. The filtration process did not affect the mineral compositions of Betula platyphylla saps. Also the compositions and amounts of minerals showed very minor differences before and after fermentation in Betula platyphylla saps inoculated with L. acidophilus. By applying lactic acid fermentation to extend storage-life of tree saps instead of heat treatment, it was possible to keep natural minerals in active forms without any modifications.

Transmembrane Pressures with Respect to Backwashing and Sinusoidal Flux Continuous Operation Modes for the Submerged Hollow Fiber Membrane in the Activated Sludge Solution (활성슬러지 수용액 내 침지식 중공사막의 역세척 및 사인파형 연속투과 운전방식에 따른 막간차압)

  • In this study transmembrane pressure (TMP) was measured with respect to operational time by applying the sinusoidal flux continuous operation (SFCO) for the hollow fiber membrane. The hollow fiber module which has $100cm^2$ of effective area and $0.45{\mu}m$ nominal pore size was submerged in the activated sludge solution of MLSS 5,000 mg/L. The critical permeate flux was measured as $26.6L/m^2{\cdot}hr$ by the method of continuous flux step change. TMPs of the filtration/relaxation (FR), FR with backwashing (FR/BW) and SFCO modes were measured. The SFCO mode was more effective than FR and FR/BW modes below the critical permeate flux such as 15, 20 and $25L/m^2{\cdot}hr$. However, the FR/BW was confirmed as more effectively fouling controlled mode than SFCO mode above the critical permeate flux.

  • 방출단층영상 재구성을 위한 최대우도 기대값최대화(maximum likelihood expectation maximization, MLEM) 방법은 영상 획득과정을 통계학적으로 모델링하여 영상을 재구성한다. MLEM은 일반적으로 사용하여 여과후역투사(filtered backprojection)방법에 비해 많은 장점을 가지고 있으나 반복횟수 증가에 따른 발산과 재구성 시간이 오래 걸리는 단점을 가지고 있다. 이 논문에서는 이러한 단점을 보완하기 위해 계산시간을 현저히 단축시킨 배열된부분집합 기대값최대화(ordered subsets expectation maximization. OSEM)에 Gibbs 선행치인 membrance (MM) 또는 thin plate(TP)을 첨가한 OSEM-MAP (maximum a posteriori)을 구현함으로써 알고리즘의 안정성 및 재구성된 영상의 질을 향상시키고자 g나다. 실험에서 알고리즘의 수렴시간을 가속화하기 위해 투사 데이터를 16개의 부분집합으로 분할하여 반복연산을 수행하였으며, 알고리즘의 성능을 비교하기 위해 소프트웨어 모형(원숭이 뇌 자가방사선, 수학적심장흉부)을 사용한 영상재구성 결과를 제곱오차로 비교하였다. 또한 알고리즘의 사용 가능성을 평가하기 위해 물리모형을 사용하여 PET 기기로부터 획득한 실제 투사 데이터를 사용하였다.

A study for High Efficiency Dewatering of Sludge Contained Fine Particles (미세입자(微細粒子)를 함유(含有)한 슬러지의 고효율(高效率) 탈수(脫水) 연구)

  • There was some difficulty dewatering properties due to small porosity diameter of cake, when pigment sludge contained fine particle was formed by cake under the dewatering. It was difficult to dewater the sludge with fine particles with the conventional mechanical dewatering method. This study was to improve the dewatering rate as discharging the water from porosity of cake easily, supplying the low heat to the cake layer. Thermal dewatering equipment of piston type to keep up constant temperature on the cake was set up and relative experiment was conducted for sludge of 200 g with fine pigment particle. As test results. filtration of 176.8 g, cake weight of 19.4 g, cake thickness of 4.2 mm was measured, and it was analyzed that the water content of cake was 47 wt% and dewatering velocity, which moaned the residual d교 sloid amount per dewatering area, was $2.1DS\;m^{2}{\cdot}cycle$. This results showed that filtration increased, cake weight and thickness decreased and dewatering velocity increased against mechanical dewatering method. And water content of cake decreased about 30%, so the result which dewatering rate improved was drew generally. The reason is that the inner vapor pressure working at the cake porosity increased as applying the low heat to the cake layer, which lead to discharge the water from porosity easily. Therefore, this study was estimated by the useful technology for sludge reduction.

Effect of Garlic on the Digestion of Beef Protein during Storage (쇠고기에 첨가한 마늘의 소화효과)

  • Chopped garlic was added to beef to determine its effect on the protein digestion during storage and heat treatment. The digestibility of raw beef without garlic was not significantly changed during storage at $4^{\circ}C$, but increased as garlic added and aging time increased. The optimal aging time and amount of garlic added was varied with heating time. Trypsin inhibitor did not change the digestibility of beef due to its thermal inactivation. Gel chromatography revealed that the lower molecular weight peptides(2,200~6,150 dalton) were shown in beef-garlic mixture through aging and heating procedure. When aged beef with garlic was digested with four-enzyme system, the soluble portion was increased significantly in comparison with that from raw beef without garlic. Protein quality of beef, as measured by computed PER(C-PER), was improved from 2.14 of raw beef to 2.50 of aged beef with chopped garlic.

Recovery of Aglycone of Daidzein and Genistein in Soybeans (콩에 포함된 비배당체 다이드제인과 제니스테인의 회수)

  • Using aqueous solution of 60% ethanol, the isoflavones contained in the Soybean (Chungsun, Korea), Tawon (Suwon, Korea), Jackbean (Hongsung, Korea), Soybean (Jilin, China), Black Soybean (Jilin, China), Kidneybean (Jilin, China) and Soybean (California, U.S.A.) were extracted. In this work, the pretreatment step was composed of agitation extraction, filtration, concentration, ultracentrifuge, and membrane filtration. The analysis by $C_{18}$ column was performed, and the mobile phase applied was linearly changed with A/B of 85/15-65/35 vol% for 50 min (A water/acetic acid, 99.9/0.1 vol%, B acetonitrile/acetic acid, 99.9/0.1 vol%). Among the soybeans tested, the total amounts of the four isoflavones (daidzin, genistin, daidzein, and genistein) extracted by the soybeans from Korea, China and U.S.A. were 1.37, 1.60, and 2.25 mg/g, respectively. It was also found that the total amount of aglycone of daidzein and genistein from soybean (American California) was $144{\mu}g/g$, which was the largest for the soybeans experimented.

Design and operating parameters of multi-functional floating island determined by basic experiments of unit processes (단위공정별 기초실험을 통한 다기능 융복합부도의 설계·운전인자 도출)

  • Water quality improvement processes for stagnant area consist mainly of technologies applying vegetation and artificial water circulation, and these existing technologies have some limits to handle pollution loads effectively. To improve the purification efficiency, eco-friendly technologies should be developed that can reinforce self-purification functions. In this study, a multi-functional floating island combined with physical chemical biological functions ((1) flotation and oxidization using microbubbles, (2) vegetation purification and (3) bio-filtration with improved adsorption capacity) has been developed and basic experiments were performed to determine the optimal combination conditions for each unit process. It has been shown that it is desirable to operate the microbubble unit process under conditions greater than $3.5kgf/cm^2$. In vegetation purification unit process, Yellow Iris (Iris pseudacorus) was suggested to be suitable considering water quality, landscape improvement and maintenance. When granular red-mud was applied to the bio-filtration unit process, it was found that T-P removal efficiency was good and its value was also stable for various linear velocity conditions. The appropriate thickness of filter media was suggested between 30 and 45 cm. In this study, the optimal design and operating parameters of the multi-functional floating island have been presented based on the results of the basic experiments of each unit process.

Functional Characterization of the Extracts from Nipa Palm, Molokhia, and Finger Root for Cosmetic Ingredients (니파팜, 몰로키아, 핑거루트 추출물의 화장품 소재로서의 기능적 특성 분석)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the applicability of the extracts from nipa palm, molokhia, and finger root in functional cosmetics as a natural active ingredient. The extracts were obtained through the processes of heating under reflux with ethanol, filtration, concentration, and freeze-drying. UV absorption and blocking effects of the extracts were examined by using the UV-vis spectrophotometer equipped with an integrating sphere. Antioxidant activity and its stability between the extracts were compared using the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging assay. Also, total polyphenol content in the extracts was determined quantitatively using the Folin-Ciocalteu reagent, with gallic acid as the standard. Antibacterial activity of the extracts was investigated by the disc diffusion test against Staphylococcus aureus (gram-positive) and Escherichia coli (gram-negative). Finally, collagenase inhibitor assay was performed to examine the anti-wrinkle effect of the extracts. From the results of this study, the extract of nipa palm showed the potential for use in cosmetics as an antioxidant and anti-wrinkle agent, and the extract of finger root as a sunscreen and antibacterial agent.

Preparation and Characteristics of P(AN-co-MA) Membrane Imprinted with Lysozyme Molecules (라이소자임 분자각인 P(AN-co-MA) 막의 제조와 특성)

  • Molecularly imprinted membrane (MIM) is a porous polymer membrane incorporating with the molecular recognizing sites. In this study, the supporting P(AN-co-MA) asymmetric membrane was prepared by nonsolvent induced phase separation (NIPS) method. And then, MIM with lysozyme template sites was prepared using the surface imprinting method on the P(AN-co-MA) asymmetric membrane introducing a photoactive iniferter and then photo-grafting. The P(AN-co-MA) asymmetric membrane was modified with 3-chloropropyltrimethoxysilane and dithiocarbamate as a photoactive iniferter. To prepare a lysozyme imprinted membrane, the modified P(AN-co-MA) membrane was copolymerized with acrylamide as a functional momomer, N,N'-methylene bisacrylamide as a crosslinker and lysozyme as a template in the UV irradiation environment. The lysozyme imprinted MIM was analyzed by using SEM, FT-IR and EDS measurements. Its results confirm that all the P(AN-co-MA) membranes have an asymmetric structure and the iniferter group is successfully introduced on the membrane surface. The process parameters were adjusted to obtain MIM having the excellent lysozyme adsorption. The maximum lysozyme adsorption capacity reaches at 2.7 mg/g, which is 13 times higher than that of the non imprinted membrane (NIM). The permselective membrane filtration experiments of ovalbumin to lysozyme show that the P(AN-co-MA) MIM preferentially bounds a greater amount of lysozyme.
