A Study on the Tendency on Conversion of Passenger ship (여객선 컨버젼(Conversion) 동향에 대한 연구)

  • When the laws about the security of ships are revised, or voyage conditions are changed, ship owners have converted rather than built new passenger ships including cruise ships recently. As conversion causes a lot of changes in principal dimension, structural strength, hydrodynamic performance, the number of passengers, and cargo capacity, detailed pre-review is needed. But any studies on conversion have not been carried out yet, this study investigated and analyzed the trend of consulting companies' reports (Delta Marine Report, 2005, 2008). As a result, it was found that lengthening conversion brought about the main changes in principal dimension, and performance. Also it was suggested that there be factors for consideration like hull scantling, hull form, and cutting point to minimize side effects when ship owners build ships having lengthening conversion in mind.

A Study on the Additional Train Scheduling Method (열차 증편방법에 관한 연구)

  • Additional train scheduling is often required to increase the capacity of transporting passengers or freight. In most previous studies on scheduling additional trains, operation time of the added train is designated first; and then the train operation feasibility is examined. However, it is often difficult to apply this approach to domestic trains because the density of the railroad network in Korea is high and various types of trains are in use. Moreover, for freight trains, it is even more challenging because the delay is accumulated due to lower priority whenever a freight train and a passenger train contend for a common segment of rail. In this paper, we address the additional train scheduling problem which entails finding a feasible schedule for an additional train having a fixed departure time or departure time windows. The problem is modeled as a mixed integer programming and a column generation technique is used to solve it.

Development of a High Speed, Coastal Passenger SWATH Ship with Good Speed Performance and Seakeeping Quality (내항성능과 속도성능이 우수한 고속 연안여객 소수선면 쌍동선형 개발)

  • One of good ways to make a ship perform well in rough seas is to reduce its waterplane area and accordingly is subject to a reduced wave exciting forties. However, a great reduction of the waterplane area may create a penalty in speed performance due to the increased ratio of the wetted area to the displacement volume. This paper suggests a new catamaran hull form which compromises the speed and seakeeping quality by increasing the waterplane area somehow compared with that of the conventional SWATH ship. A 350 passenger carrying SWATH ship with a cruising speed of 30 knots in sea state of 4 has been developed and its performance was validated by the model tests. The design concept resistance performance and seakeeping dualities of the design craft are presented together with its comparative performance comparison with other high speed crafts.

  • Through the full scale ship collision response analysis of high speed passenger ship with underwater floating matters, the objective of this study is to perform the crashworthy safety assessment of its hull and passengers. For this safety assessment, diverse collision scenarios could be established through the thorough understanding of damage mechanisms due to the collision of its hydrofoil system with underwater floating matter examining the damage informations of its hull and passengers from the collision accidents, and through the estimation of the damages of its hull and passenger. The next step, crashworthy safety assessment of its hull and passengers, was carried out by the collision response analyses of high speed passenger ship with underwater floating matter using Fluid-Structure Interaction(FSI) analysis technique of LS-DYNA code in consideration of surrounding water, and using local zooming analysis technique.

Principles for Government Involvement in Urban Logistics Planning (도시물류정비를 위한 공공부문의 역할에 관한 연구)

  • The pattern of urban transport activity has two major components: the movement of people and the movement of goods. Roads in urban areas carry large number of trucks laden with goods that support urban economy and lifestyle. Therefore urban goods movement plays a vital role, but at the same time, urban goods movement are an important source of congestion, and a major contributor to the adverse environmental and social impacts of urban transport. In addition, the demand for goods movement is growing at a faster rate than personal travel in many cities, due to changes in industry logistics and consumer purchasing patterns. As a result, the significance of urban freight activity is increasing in terms of both its role in urban economy and its adverse impacts on urban amenity. This study is focused on the role and involvement scope of metropolitan government in urban logistics aimed at increasing its efficiency and reducing its negative impacts. The major suggestions of this study are (a) development of a measure of urban goods movement activity, (b) evaluation of data requirements and availability, (c) dialogue between the public sector and private sector, and (d) the role of metropolitan government.

  • The ride comfort is more important according to train speedup. Generally it is defined as the vehicle vibration. There are many studies on evaluation method of ride comfort for railway. But the ride comfort for Korean high speed train (HSR 350x) has been assessed by statistical method according to UIC 5l3R. In this paper, the ride indices, which were measured in the Korean high speed train. have been analyzed and reviewed by using the inferential statistics such as t-test, variance analysis (ANOVA) and regression analysis.

  • The Automatic Identification System (AIS) will provide valuable navigational information to the coastal passenger ship to which RADAR did not cover until now. 112 skippers of coastal passenger ship who are using AIS plotter responded that the AIS is very useful to their safety and they are using the AIS effectively regardless of number of seafarers, ship's speed and navigation time. It is required that all coastal ships should install the AIS to improve the safety navigation in the coastal navigation area.

  • 독일 내륙수로의 길이는 12개강을 중심으로 7,306 km이며, 북해의 하구로부터 라인강 상류 바젤까지 여객과 화물이 운반된다. 또한 라인강과 마인강, 도나우강을 거쳐 동유럽을 관통하여 흑해까지 연결되어 물류의 이동뿐만 아니라 인적 및 문화의 교류가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 독일 내륙 운하법은 연방내륙수로법, 선박기록규정법, 특허규정, 배기가스 규제에 관련된 법규 등으로 구성되었다. 특히 물길 잇기를 자연친화적인 방법으로 추진하였으며, 하천환경복원에 많은 투자와 배려를 아끼지 않았다. 라인강 상류지역을 직선하천으로 만들므로 홍수통제를 이루었으며, 하류지역 홍수범람문제의 해결책으로 상류지역에 천변저류지를 건설하였다. 또한 옛 가지천을 활용해서 지하수 수위 저감을 막을 수 있었다. 도나우강은 수로의 수심을 유지하기 위해 자연친화적인 공법을 적용하여 생태하천으로 복원되었다.

  • 공항서비스 질에 대한 이용객의 인식이 전반적인 공항이용의 매력도와 직결되므로 그 중요성이 점점 커지고 있다. 반면 현 제주국제공항은 활주로의 수용능력도 부족 할 뿐만 아니라 여객 터미널의 수용 능력, 운항 횟수 20만 초과 할 것으로 예상하고 있다. 또한 2011년 11월 11월 NEW7WONDERS에서 7대 자연경관으로 선정됨으로서 세계화, 개방화 그리고 관광객 증가에 따른 항공 수요 증가 추세이다. 공항산업이 빠르게 변화하고 있고 제주지역 발전 속도에 따른 장래 항공수요를 감안하여 제주국제공항의 시설에 대한 기대수준과 만족수준을 측정해야 한다. 따라서 본 연구는 공항의 독특한 서비스 환경에 대한 공항이용객들의 기대 역할 실증연구를 통해 기대와 만족간의 차이분석 연구를 하는데 목적이 있다. 제주국제공항 이용객들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였고 이용객들이 기대하는 공항서비스 품질은 무엇인지를 분석하였다. 향후 공항서비스 품질관리에 관한 개선사항을 제시할 수 있는 기초자료로 활용되고자 한다.
