Effect of EGR on power and exhaust emissions in diesel engine (디젤엔진의 출력 및 배기가스에 미치는 EGR의 영향)

  • Diesel engines are widely used due to superior power and fuel consumption, however there are many challenges in exhaust gas management. Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) is the most effective technique for reducing mono-nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions in a diesel engine, in comparison with other catalytic technologies. In addition, the technology has a number of advantages in terms of economic efficiency and implementation. In this study, the effects on the power and exhaust characteristics of diesel engines equipped with EGR systems were investigated. It was found that as the EGR rate increased, horsepower expressed as IHP and BHP decreased. The net effect of the application of EGR was measured at various engine speeds. EGR technology caused decreases in BHP of around 9% during low engine speed and 3.5% during high engine speed. Additionally, NOx emissions reduced as the EGR rate increased, and increased as engine speed increased. However, smoke emissions increased as the EGR rate increased, and decreased as engine speed increased. The optimum operating conditions and ERG rate to simultaneously achieve minimum NOx and smoke emissions were investigate. It was found that as the EGR rate increased, optimal operating speed for minimal NOx and smoke also increased. An Experimental Study of Tri-arc Rotating Detonation Engine Using Gaseous Ethylene/Oxygen (기체 에틸렌/산소 Tri-arc 회전 데토네이션 엔진 실험연구)

  • In rotating detonation engine(RDE), only the detonation wave is moving around the outer wall of the combustor. Neither a mechanical part nor flow is rotating in RDE. Thus, the RDE cross section is not necessary to be circular, but arbitrary closed section is possible. A RDE of tri-arc cross section is designed and As an example of an arbitrary cross sectioned RDE, a RDE of tri-arc cross section is designed in this study, and operational and performance characteristics were examined experimentally. The rotation of the detonation wave is confirmed by dynamic pressure sensor and high-speed camera, while the characteristics of the detonation wave were investigated at the concave and convex surfaces. In the present study, the thrust level of 17.0 N to 96.0 N was obtained depending on the mass flow rate.

  • 밸브 트레인에서 국부 마멸을 줄이기 위한 태핏의 회전은 캠과 태핏의 접촉면에서 태핏속도의 변화를 가져오게 된다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 태핏의 회전속도를 캠/태핏 접촉면의 윤활 및 마찰 해석을 바탕으로 해석하고 이에 영향을 미치는 변수인 오프셋 거리, 엔진 회전속도 그리고 태핏과 실린더 헤드사이의 틈새에 대한 영향을 살펴보았다.

터보프롭엔진의 정상상태 탈설계점 성능해석 기법에 관한 연구

  • 소·중형 상업용 항공기나 초등 훈련기용으로 많이 이용되고 있는 터보프롭엔진의 정상상태 성능해석을 위한 프로그램을 개발하였다. 프로그램의 검증을 위하여 지상정지조건에서의 성능 및 비행마하수에 따른 출력 등을 상용 정상상태 해석 프로그램인 TURBOMARCH 해석결과와 비교하였다. 비교결과 각 구성품의 입 ·출구 온도 및 압력, 출력 등에서는 약 3%이하의 오차율을 보였으며, 마하수 변화에 따른 출력 비교에서도 최대오차율이 2.4%로 프로그램의 신뢰성을 확인하였다. 개발된 프로그램을 이용하여 비행마하수 0.2, 80% 동력터빈 회전수에서 가스발생기 회전수를 5% 간격으로 나누어 부분부하 성능해석을 수행하였으며, 동력터빈 회전수에 따른 성능해석도 수행하였다.

  • 3차원 CAD를 이용한 선박 설계는 완료 시점에서 부품간의 간섭여부를 판별할 수 있으나 작업순서에 따른 파트의 회전이나 이동 중의 간섭에 대한 판단은 어렵다. 현재는 생산 현장의 작업반장이나 숙련인력이 파트에 대한 회전, 이동시의 간섭 여부를 판단하여 작업순서를 조절한다. 이에 본 논문에서는 Unity 엔진을 이용하여 의장 작업을 실행하기 전에 대상 파트를 손으로 직접 회전, 이동시켜서 실제 작업이 가능한지 여부를 확인할 수 있는 AM 뷰어를 구현하고자 한다.

  • The aim of this study is to analyze the dynamic characteristics of proportional control valves according to various working conditions as a basic study for developing proportional control valves for auto-steering tractors. The dynamic characteristics of proportional valves were measured using hydraulic characteristics measurement system, and the power was analyzed using measured flow rate and pressure data. As the experimental conditions, the tractor engine speed and steering angle was selected as the main variables, and the experiment was performed on urethane road conditions. As a result, it was found that the flow rate, pressure, and power of the proportional control valve increased as the tractor engine speed and steering angle increased. In particular, as the steering angle increased at the same engine speed, the flow rate, pressure, and power tended to increase by up to 190%, 172%, and 273%, respectively. Similarly, as the engine speed increased at the same steering angle, the flow rate, pressure, and power tended to increase up to 161%, 122%, and 168%, respectively. Therefore, it can be seen that the steering angle has a higher influence on the dynamic characteristics of the proportional control valve than the engine speed.

  • The performance of the turbofan engine, a medium scale civil aircraft which has been developing in Rep. of Korea, was analyzed and the control scheme for optimization the performance was studied. The dynamic and real-time linear simulation was performed in the previous study The result was that the fuel scedule of the step increase overshoot the limit temperature(3105 $^{\cire}R$) of the high pressure turbine and got small surge margine of the high pressure compressor. Therefore a control scheme such as the LQR(Linear Quadratic Regulator) was applied to optimizing the performance in this studies. The linear model was expected for designing controller and the real time linear model was developed to be closed to nonlinear simulation results. The system matrices were derived from sampling operating points in the scheduled range and then the least square method was applied to the interpolation between these sampling points, where each element of matrices was a function of the rotor speed. The control variables were the fuel flow and the low pressure compressor bleed air. The controlled linear model eliminated the inlet temperature overshoot of the high pressure turbine and obtained maximum surge margins within 0.55. The SFC was stabilized in the range of 0.355 to 0.43.

고속 회전축-베어링계의 스퀴즈-필름 댐퍼에 관한 연구

  • 최근 터어보 샤프트, 터어보 팬, 터어보 쳇트 엔진, 가스 터어빈, 공작기계의 주축, 그리고 섬유기계 섬유봉등의 회전기계류 설계에서 단위 무게당 출력의 비율을 높이기 위해서 회전속도의 고속화가 요구되고 있다. 이러한 경우 회전축계의 진동특성에 크게 영향을 미치는 감쇠특성을 부각시키기 위하여 베어링의 외부에 스퀴즈-필름 댐퍼 (Squeeze-film Damper)를 부가하고 회전축계를 유연하게 지지하여 줌으로써 진동문제를 간단히 해결하며 회전속도의 고속화를 가능하게 할 수 있다. 적합하게 설계된 스퀴즈-필름 댐퍼의 잇점은 다음과 같다. (a) 회전축의 위험속도를 작은 공진쪽으로서 통과하는 것이 가능. (b) 베어링과 지지구조물에 전달되는 하중이 감소 (c) 장기간 사용중, 마모 및 브레이드 파손에 의해 진폭이 증가된 불평형 강제진동에서도 안정된 운전이 가능 (d) 미끄럼 저어널 베어링에 지지된 회전축계의 고속회전에서 불안정한 자려진동이 나타나는 안정 한계속도를 높히는 것이 가능

  • 기어는 사람에 의해 사용된 가장 중요한 기계 중의 하나이며, 회전하는 두 축 사이에 운동과 동력을 전달하고 회전 방향과 속도를 변경하는 역할을 한다. 기어는 우리가 손에 차는 시계나 벽시계뿐만 아니라 자동차, 기차, 선박, 비행기에서 엔진의 동력을 전달하여 바퀴나 혹은 프로펠러를 돌리기 위해 사용된다. 또한 장난감, 복사기, 팩스, 풍력발전기에 사용하는 등 그 용도가 다양하다. 이 글에서는 기어의 역사를 간단히 살펴보고 기어의 진동 소음에 관련된 연구 주제에 대해 기술한다.

  • The power control system of Smart UAV is similar to the propeller pitch governing concept of turboprop aircraft. The pilot inputs the engine power directly and the pitch governor controls the propeller pitch to maintain the propeller RPM. The manual back-up system of PW206C engine is used for the engine power control of Smart UAV. Engine performance estimation program is used to predict the control range of power lever arm(PLA) angle according to the variation of flight altitude and speed. These data provide a guide for the engine control in manual mode operation.
