  • This paper describes the results of preliminary design of rocket engine test facility for the performance evaluation of liquid rocket engine. Design specification and composition of rocket engine test facility are suggested based on the design requirements. The results of the preliminary design of rocket engine test facility will be used as base data for the detail design and construction of rocket engine ground test facility of KSLV-II 75tonf liquid rocket engine.

  • This paper describes the development status of rocket engine test facility for the performance evaluation of liquid rocket engine of KSLV-II 1st stage.   • The deign and development status of a combustion chamber test facility(CTF), a turbopump real propellant test facility(TPTF), a rocket engine test facility for 3rd stage engine(SReTF), a rocket engine ground/high altitude test facility(ReTF, HAReTF) and a propulsion system test complex(PSTC) for KSLV-II is briefly described. The development/qualification tests of engine component, 3rd stage engine system and 75ton-class liquid rocket engine system will be performed in CTF, TPTF, SReTF, ReTF and HAReTF and the development test of $1^{st}/2^{nd}/3^{rd}$ propulsion systems for KSLV-II will be performed in PSTC. The CTF/TPTF are under construction such as ordering the long delivery items and the detailed design of ReTF/PSTC is being prepared.

  • This study is for development combustion test facility of liquid rocket engine system using hydrogen peroxide/kerosene as propellent. For this new facility, we construct thrust measure system, propellent supply system, control and data acquisition system. To perform 200N liquid rocket engine combustion test, operation scenario and sequence were designed. Result of combustion test propellents were supplied to engine stably and confirm of development combustion test facility very well.

  • A Liquid Rocket Engine(LRE) ground firing test facility was built in Korea Aerospace Research Institute(KARI) in 2001 to develop the LRE for the first Korean liquid rocket, KSR-III. Around 170 tests were conducted since its establishment until recently by September 2006, and in the meantime, a considerable improvements were made in the capability. This paper describes the outline, conducted tests and operation techniques which have been accumulated through the operation of KARI LRE ground firing test facility.

  • A ground firing test facility for Liquid Rocket Engine(LRE) combustor was built in Korea Aerospace Research Institute(KARI) in 2001 to support the development of the first Korean LRE for the KSR-III.   • Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) performed the conceptual design of rocket engine test facility for the development and qualification of the 3rd stage liquid rocket engine for KSLV-II. The 3rd stage rocket engine test facility, which are to be constructed at Naro Space Center, will supply propellants and high-pressure gases to engine for firing test at ground and altitude conditions. The altitude test condition is obtained using a supersonic diffuser operated by the self-ejecting jet from the liquid rocket engine.

  • This paper deals with the construction of a combustion test facility and preliminary tests for hot-firing tests of a methane engine. First, the combustion test facility for a 1 kN-class thrust chamber using liquid oxygen/gas methane as propellants was designed and built. Before hot-firing tests, the cold-flow tests of each propellant line and the ignition tests of torch igniter/afterburner were performed to verify propellant supply stability of the combustion test facility, operation of the control and measurement system, and successful ignition. Finally, a preliminary hot-firing test was conducted to measure the combustion efficiency, heat flux, and combustion stability of a thrust chamber prototype. The constructed combustion test facility will be helpfully used for basic research and development of methane engine thrust chambers.

  • The result of design review and arrangement of a combustion chamber test facility(CTF) and a turbo-pump real propellant test facility(TPTF) is briefly described. The development/qualification tests of combustion chamber and turbo-pump for 75ton-class liquid rocket engine will be performed in CTF and TPTF. The critical design of hydraulic-pneumatic system, control and data acquisition system, test stand cell, and auxiliary facilities in CTF and TPTF was performed.
