A Study on the step edge detection method based on image information measure and eutral network (영상의 정보척도와 신경회로망을 이용한 계단에지 검출에 관한 연구)

  • An edge detection is an very important area in image processing and computer vision, General edge detection methods (Robert mask, Sobel mask, Kirsh mask etc) are a good performance to detect step edge in a image but are no good performance to detect step edge in a noses image. We suggested a step edge detection method based on image information measure and neutral network. Using these essential properties of step edges, which are directional and structural and whose gray level distribution in neighborhood, as a input vector to the BP neutral network we get the good result of proposed algorithm. And also we get the satisfactory experimental result using rose image and cell images an experimental and analysing image.

Improved Edge Enhanced Error Diffusion Halftoning Using Local Mean and Spatial Variation (국부 평균과 공간 변화량을 이용한 개선된 에지 강조 오차확산법)

  • The paper proposes the improved error diffusion halftoning system to enhance the edges using the spatial perceptual characteristics of the human visual system. The proposed method computes a spatial variation(SV), which is the difference between a pixel luminance and the average of its $3{\times}3$ neighborhood pixels' luminances weighted according to the spatial positioning. Information of edge enhancement(IEE) Is computed using the SV and the local average luminance. The IEE is added to the quantizer's input pixel and feeds into the halftoning quantizer. The quantizer produces the halftone image having the enhanced edge. The performance of the proposed method is compared with conventional methods by measuring the edge correlation. The halftone images by using the proposed method show better quality due to the enhanced edge. And the detailed edge is preserved in the halftone images by using the proposed method.

  • Edge, detected from image processing includes variety of information about original image's location and shape etc. So a lot of researches for detecting those edges have been continuing even now. And with the recent progress of wavelet theory which is presented as a new technique of signal processing fields, wavelet transform is being applied to many fields which analyzes singularities of image. For this reason, this paper detected original image's edge from the information such as local maximum, direction, and location of the wavelet transform data by using wavelet function which is independent of width of line.

  • 본 논문에서는 고해상도 팬크로매틱 영상과 저해상도 다중분광 영상을 융합하기 위하여 고해상도 팬크로매틱 영상에서 MRF 모델링을 기반으로 에지 방향 정보를 추출하는 방식파 추출된 에지 방향 정보 및 고해상도 팬크로매틱 영상의 기울기 정보를 이용하여 위성영상을 융합하는 방법을 제안한다. 에지 방향 추출은 레이블링(labeling) 문제로 다루어 처리하는데, 이는 MRF 모델링을 통하여 에너지 함수를 설계하고 최소화시킴으로써 풀 수 있다. 또한 고해상도 다중분광영상 합성 시, 저해상도 다중분광영상의 픽셀 값을 정계조건으로 하고 팬크로매틱의 기울기 및 에지 정보를 이용하여 선형방정식을 세워서 풀어내는데, 이를 용하여 색상왜곡을 줄일 수 있으며 영상의 세부 부분을 더 잘 표현할 수 있다 실험 결과, 제안하는 방법이 기존방식에 비하여 좋은 성능을 보임을 확인할 수 있다.

Adaptive Interpolation for Intra Frames in H.264 Using Interference Function (H.264 인트라 프레임에서 방해함수를 이용한 적응적 보간)

  • Error Concealment method for Intra frames in H.264 reconstructs the lost block by computing weighted average value of the boundary pixels of the neighboring blocks; up, bottom, left and right blocks. However a simple average of pixel values of the neighboring blocks for Intra frames in H.264 leads to excessive blurring and degrades the picture quality severely. To solve this problem, in this paper we estimate the dominant edge of lost block using the pixel values of the neighboring blocks and reconstruct the pixel values by choosing adaptive interpolation between directional interpolation and weighted average interpolation considering the result value of the interference function based on statistics. Finally directional interpolation method improves by determining the dominant edge direction considering the relation of the dominent edge and the edges of neighboring blocks. Experiments show improvement of picture quality of about $0.5{\sim}2.0dB$ compared with the method of H.264.

  • In this paper, we proposed stereo matching algorithm by dynamic programming with edges emphasized. Existing algorithms show blur generally at depth discontinuities owing to smoothness constraint and non-existence of matching pixel in occlusion regions. Also it accompanies matching error by lackness of matching information in the untextured regions. This paper defines new cost function to make up for the problems occurred to existing algorithms. It is possible through deriving matching of edges in left and right images to be carried out between edge regions anf deriving that in the other regions to be peformed between the other regions. In case of the possibility that edges can be Produced in a large amount, matching between edge information adds weight to cost function in proportion to Path distance. Proposed algorithm was applied to various images obtained by convergent camera model as well as parallel camera model. As the result, proposed algorithm showed improved performance in the aspect of matching error and processing in the occlusion regions compared to existing algorithms. Also it could improve blur especially in discontinuity regions.

  • This paper proposed a curve progress control function of the area base instead of the existing edge indication function, in order to detect the brain ventricle area by utilizing a geodesic active contour model. The proposed curve progress control function is very effective in detecting the brain ventricle area and this function is based on the average brightness of the brain ventricle area which appears brighter in MRI images. Compared numerically by using various measures, the proposed method in this paper can detect brain ventricle areas better than the existing method. By examining images of normal and diseased brain's images by brain tumor, we compared the several brain ventricle detection algorithms with proposed method visually and verified the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • This paper presents an improved Snake algorithm that contains additional energy term related to adjacent edges. The suggested algorithm represents the distance between an adjacent edge and the current cell as energy, and extracts object contours more effectively by including the energy tenn to the whole energy function. The adjacent edge-based snake algorithm not only make it possible to detect object boundaries which are concave, but also can detect the boundaries of complex objects without weight adjustment. Experimental results show that the proposed method extracts object boundaries more accurately than other existing methods without loss of speed.

  • Points of sharp variations in images are the most important components when we analyze singularities of images. Therefore a lot of researches for detecting those edges have been continuing even now. However, existing methods do not have excellent performance in the image which exists noise and can not detect edge selectively. In the meantime, the wavelet transform which is presented as a new technique of signal processing field is able to detect multiscale edge and is being applied widely in many fields that analyze singularities such as edge. for this reason, this paper detected image's line-edge elements with 2-D wavelet function, which is independent of line's width, in noise environment.

  • 대용량의 지형을 실시간에 가시화하기는 어려운 문제이다. 따라서, 지형을 구성하는 메쉬를 간략화하여 다단계 상세도(Level-Of-Detail)를 가진 모델 생성이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 지형 간략화를 위해 에너지의 특성과 주변 정보를 이용한 에지 축약(Edge Collapse) 기반의 단순한 간략화 알고리즘을 제시한다. 기본적인 접근 방법으로는 기하학적인 메쉬 구성요소들 중에서 에지의 특성에 따라 제거 기준을 설정한 후 간략화해 나간다. 속도 향상을 위해 에지 축약 이후의 새로운 점 위치 계산을 에지의 종류에 따라 구분하여 단순하게 계산하였고, 간략화를 위한 제거 기준도 비교적 간단한 기준으로 설정하였다. 간략화 이후에도 원래 지형의 위상(topology)을 유지 할 수 있는 단순한 기법을 제시하고 있다. 실험 결과에서 두 가지 지형 모델에 대해서 정점 제거 방법과의 비교 결과, 간략화된 지형 모델에서의 에러를 최소화하였고, Heckbert가 제안한 방법과의 비교에서는 개선을 하였음을 알 수 있다.
