A Study on Formation of Slurry Ice by using the Reversing Flow in a Bundle of Tube (역전 유동층을 이용한 관군 내에서의 슬러리아이스 생성에 관한 연구)

  • The ice-thermal energy storage cooling system has been applied to relief a significant portion of the peak demand of electricity during the daytime in summer. Slurry ice type system is one kind of ice-thermal storage cooling system utilizing cheaper off-peak electricity. This study is experimented to observe an influence of experimental conditions on production characteristics of slurry ice by using reversing flow, which is putting reversing material into test section to disturb ice adhesion. At this experiment, poly propylene ball of dimeter 10 mm was used as reversing material, and ethylene glycol-water solution of 20wt% concentration was used as flow material. The experimental apparatus was constructed of the slurry ice making and storage tank(test section), the brine tank, pumps for ethylene glycol-water solution and brine circulating, a mass flow-meter, data logger for fluid temperature measuring. The experiments were carried out under various conditions, with volumetric flow rate, ball filling rate and air filling rate.

  • Recently, various application services in wireless sensor networks are more considered than before, and thus reliable and secure communication of sensor network is turning out as one of essential issues. This paper studies such communication in IEEE 802.15.4 based sensor network. We present IMHRS (IEEE 802.15.4 MAC-based Hybrid hop-by-hop Reliability Scheme) employing EHHR (Enhanced Hop-by-Hop Reliability), which uses Hop-cache and Hop-ack and ALC (Adaptive Link Control), which considers link status and packet type. Also, by selecting security suite depending on network and application type, energy efficiency is considered based on HAS (Hybrid Adaptive Security) Framework. The presented schemes are evaluated by simulations and experiments. Besides, the prototype system is developed and tested to show the potential efficiency.

  • LCD is supplied light by BLU(Back Light Unit) and the light represents color by each color filter. Also LCD adjusts the amount of light by controlling liquid crystal between the glass of upper plate and one of lower. However, it is impossible to completely exclude light due to the structural and physical characteristic of liquid crystal. Therefore, on transfering light through optical sheet and liquid crystal, many problems are generated. They are related with energy efficiency and get effective for the contrast of LCD to have lower contrast ratio than other display devices. To solve the problems, many techniques have been studied and developed but don't exist keys to solution for them. Among methods, local dimming is one example to be applied to LCD. In this paper we propose image processing algorithm for local dimming of BLU of LED used as light source. The proposed algorithm extracts maximum luminance signal and lights using each extracted signal on segmented region of BLU. Also the proposed algorithm generates image signal in corresponding to luminance of the segmented region and supplies them with LCD panel to represent image with improving luminance ratio.

CMP Properties of ZnO thin film deposited by RF magnetron sputtering (RF-sputtering에 의해 제작된 ZnO박막의 연마특성)

  • ZnO는 육방정계(wurtzite) 결정구조를 지니며 상온에서 3.37eV의 wide band gap을 갖는다. ZnO의 엑시톤 결합 에너지는 GaN에 비해 2.5배 높은 60meV로서 고효율의 광소자 적용 가능성이 높다. 또한 고품위의 박막합성이 가능하다. 이러한 특성 때문에 display소자의 투명전극, 광전소자, 바리스터, 압전소자, 가스센서 등에 폭 넓게 응용되고 있다. ZnO박막의 제조는 스퍼터링, CVD, 진공증착법, 열분해법 등이 있다. 본 논문에서는 RF 마그네트론 스퍼터에 의해 제작된 ZnO 박막에 CMP공정을 수행하여 연마율과 비균일도 특성 및 광투과 특성을 연구하였다. ZnO박막은 $2{\times}2Cm$의 Corning glass위에 증착되었다. 로터리 펌프와 유확산 펌프를 이용하여 초기진공을 $2{\times}10^{-6}$ Torr까지 도달시킨 후 Ar과 $O_2$를 주입하였다. 증착은 상온에서 이루어졌으며 공정압력은 $6{\times}10^{-2}$Torr이였다. 초기의 불안정한 상태의 풀라즈마를 안정시키기 위해 셔터를 이용하여 pre-sputtering을 하였다. CMP 공정조건은 플레이튼 속도, 슬러리 유속, 압력은 칵각 60rpm, 90ml/min, $300g/cm^2$으로 일정하게 유지하였으며 헤드속도는 20rpm에서 100rpm까지 증가시키면서 연마특성을 조사하였다. 실리카슬러리의 적합성을 알아보기 위해 DIW와 병행하여 CMP공정을 수행하고 비교 분석하였다. CMP공정 결과 광투과도는 굉탄화된 표면의 확보로 인해 향상된 특성을 보였다. 실리카 슬러리를 사용하여 CMP를 할 경우는 헤드속도는 저속으로 하여야 양호한 연마특성을 얻을 수 있었다.

Cu 함량 변화에 따른 Mo-N-Cu 박막의 특성 및 내마모 특성 평가

  • 동력 전달을 위한 구동 부품에 대한 내마모성 개선을 통한 에너지 효율 및 부품의 수명 향상에 대한 사회적 관심이 급증하고 있다. 특히, 최근에는 자동차용 구동부품에 저마찰 내마모 특성이 우수한 Mo-N-Cu 나노복합체 박막에 대한 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 Mo-N-Cu 나노복합체 박막을 마그네트론 스퍼터링 증착법을 활용하였고, 이때 Mo 및 Cu 타겟을 적용하여 동시에 증착하였다. 진공 챔버의 진공도는 $5{\times}10^{-6}\;Torr$ 이하의 초기 진공도를 확보한 이후, 알곤 및 질소 가스를 주입하여 공정 압력이 5 mTorr 수준이 되도록 하였다. 이때 N2/(Ar+N2) = 0.5를 유지하였다. Mo-N-Cu 박막내에 Cu 함량 변화를 위해 Mo 캐소드는 D.C. 1 kW로 고정하고 Cu 캐소드에 R.F. 파워를 0, 40, 60, 80 W로 변화하였다. 박막의 두께는 증착시간을 변화하면서 $1\;{\mu}m$ 이상이 되도록 하였다. Cu 캐소드에 인가된 파워의 변화에 따라 Mo-N-Cu 박막내 Cu 함유량은 10 at.%까지 변화되는 것을 EDX 분석을 통해 확인하였다. 또한 증착된 Mo-N-Cu 박막의 표면 및 단면에 대한 FE-SEM 분석을 통하여 전형적인 주상구조를 지닌 MoN 박막에서 Cu 함량이 증가할수록 Mo-N-Cu 박막의 결정성을 방해하는 것을 확인하였다. 또한 XRD 분석을 통하여 박막의 결정 구조 분석을 하였고, Nano Indentor를 통하여 30 GPa 수준의 고경도를 지닌 박막이 형성됨을 확인하였다. 박막의 내마모 특성 평가를 위해 ball-on-disk 트라이보미터를 활용하여 마찰계수 평가를 수행하였고, Cu 함유량의 변화에 따라 마찰계수가 MoN 박막의 경우 0.8에서 Cu 함량이 5 at.%에서 0.15로 급격하게 낮아짐을 확인하였다.

  • Compound bows use levering systems consisting of cables and cam pulleys to bend limbs that are much stiffer than those of recurve bows, thus storing more energy while requiring less force for the archer to hold the bow at a fully drawn position. Many patents have thus far been proposed to improve the efficiency and performance of compound bows through empirical methods, whereas only a few analytical methods have been proposed. In this light, this paper presents a method for the kinematic analysis of levering systems in compound bows so that a designer can easily predict the effects of changes in the cam profiles and limb materials.

Experimental Study on Performance Comparison of Air-Conditioner with PF Heat Exchanger (PF 열교환기를 적용한 공조기의 성능 비교 실험연구)

  • In the present study, the heat transfer characteristics of the fin-tube and PF heat exchangers and the performances of the air-conditioner are experimentally investigated. Also, Cooling Seasonal Performance Factor(CSPF) of the air-conditioner is evaluated. For the heat exchanger experiment, the heat transfer and pressure drop are obtained. For the air-conditioner experiment, the cooling capacity, input power and COP are obtained. The air-enthalpy calorimeter and the constant temperature water bath are used. As the inlet air velocity increases, the heat transfer rate and pressure drop of the heat exchanger increased. PF heat exchanger has smaller refrigerant weight and larger capacity and COP than the fin-tube heat exchanger. The performance of PF-2 heat exchanger with the squarer fin is more excellent than that of PF-1 heat exchanger with the triangler fin. Also, CSPF of the fm -tube and PF heat exchanger is evaluated.

  • In this paper, we present an effective sound classification system for recognizing the real-time context of a smartphone user. Our system avoids unnecessary consumption of limited computational resource by filtering both silence and white noise out of input sound data in the pre-processing step. It also improves the classification performance on low energy-level sounds by amplifying them as pre-processing. Moreover, for efficient learning and application of HMM classification models, our system executes the dimension reduction and discretization on the feature vectors through k-means clustering. We collected a large amount of 8 different type sound data from daily life in a university research building and then conducted experiments using them. Through these experiments, our system showed high classification performance.

A Study on the Shape of KRISO Propulsion Efficiency Improvement Devices(K-duct) using CFD (CFD를 이용한 KRISO 추진효율 향상 장치(K-duct) 형상 특성에 관한 연구)

  • This paper is to compare by numerical analysis the flow characteristics and propulsion performance of stern with the shape change of K-duct, a pre-swirl duct developed by Korea Research Institute of Ships & Ocean Engineering (KRISO). First, the characteristics of the propeller and the resistance and self-propulsion before and after the attachment of the K-duct to the ship were verified and the validity of the calculation method was confirmed by comparing this result with the model test results. After that, resistance and self-propulsion calculations were performed by the same numerical method when the K-duct was changed into five different shapes. The efficiency of the other five cases was compared using the delivery horsepower in the model scale and the flow characteristics of the stern were analyzed as the velocity and pressure distributions in the area between the duct end and the propeller plane. For the computation, STAR-CCM +, a general-purpose flow analysis program, was used and the Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations were applied. Rigid Body Motion (RBM) method was used for the propeller rotating motion and SST $k-{\omega}$ turbulence model was applied for the turbulence model. As a result, the tangential velocity of the propeller inflow changed according to the position angle change of the stator, and the pressure of the propeller hub and the cap changes. This regulated the propeller hub vortex. It was confirmed that the vortex of the portion where the fixed blade and the duct meet was reduced by blunt change.

Group Based Two-Layer Mobility Management of MTC Devices in 5G Network (5G 네트워크에서 MTC 단말들의 그룹기반 2계층 이동성 관리 기술)

  • In 5G mobile communication, it is necessary to provide different mobility to user equipments(UE) that do not require mobility management or need limited mobility management. In this paper, we propose a two-layer mobility management system that classifies multiple MTC devices with similar mobility levels into c-MTC and m-MTC groups. In order to improve the energy efficiency and service life by reducing the number of control signals generated when TAU is performed, the group header typically performs a Tracking Area Update(TAU) request and adjusts the periodic TAU update period according to the mobility level. The TAU update period of the m-MTC is set to 54 minutes proposed by the 3GPP standard and the c-MTC is set to 12 minutes. Compared to when the UEs perform TAU individually, it is found that the number of control signals decreases by 33% when the MME is not changed and by 49% when the MME is not changed in the m-MTC or c-MTC group.
