  • Driving range is one of the main problems in development of Electric Vehicles(EV). The Regenerative. braking system is required to overcome the problem, which converts kinetic energy of the vehicle during braking into electrical energy. This paper discusses the braking system of EV and Robust design especially developed to maximize energy recovery and to optimize braking performance. This is promised to be applied to the design of elements for EV braking system.

  • In this paper, we proposed a DC electric railway system that composed of a 3-phase voltage source converter (VSC) and a bidirectional DC-DC converter. The proposed electric railway system is modeled and simulated to show the feasibility in MATLAB/Simulink.

  • This paper deals with the power integration of large urban railway systems to improve regenerative energy utilization. Current regenerative energy utilization is low because there is no special plan for using this energy. If the railway system is integrated with other railway systems, the efficiency is expected to be improved. Through the case studies, to find the realistic effect of integrated operation, real system for the Seoul Metro lines, especially line 5 and 7, had been applied.

  • This paper deals with power integration of large urban railway systems for improvement of regenerative energy utilization. The main idea of this paper is that the integration of railway power systems will increase efficiency through sharing regenerative energy. To verify the effects of this system, case studies for Seoul Metro Line has been performed. Where railway data of Seoul Subway Line 5 and Line 7 are used. In this work, the integrated railway system is modelled using Compaq Visual Fortran.

  • In this paper, effect of recharging power by using ESS(Energy Storage System) was investigated when ESS was applied to the train. The recharging power was analyzed and measured. Also, by applying ALVT algorithm, effective recharging and discharging were studied. By using this process, recharging and discharging of the super capacitor were improved which led to enhancing the use of recharging power from the urban Railway vehicles.

  • In the DC electric railway system, the effective use of regenerative break energy is an important issue. Since regenerative break energy causes voltage rise or drop in the system, it should be also solved effectively. To solve the problems, applying electric double layer capacitor (EDLC) or voltage source converter (VSC) to the DC electric railway system has been studying. In this paper, the coordination of EDLC and VSC is proposed to solve the problem effectively with its coordinated control algorithm. The proposed method is tested to show its feasibility using Matlab/Simulink.

  • A passive lossless turn-on/turn-off snubber network is proposed for the boost PWM converter. Previous AC/DC PFC Boost Converter perceives feed forward signal of output for average current-mode control. Previous Boost Convertor, the Quantity of input current will be decreased by the decrease of output current in light load, and also Power factor comes to be decreased. Also the efficiency of converter will be decreased by the decrease of power factor. The proposed converter presents the good PFC, low line current harmonic distortions and tight output voltage regulations using energy recovery circuit. All of the semiconductor devices in the converter are turned on under exact or near zero voltage switching(ZVS). No additional voltage and current stresses on the main switch and main diode occur. To show the superiority of this converter is verified through the experiment with a 640W, 100kHz prototype converter.

SVM를 적용한 매트릭스 컨버터의 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation of Matrix Converter Based on Space Vector Modulation)

  • 매트릭스 컨버터는 VS떼 비하여 장수명, 입력역률 직접제어 및 에너지 회생 등의 장점을 갖고 있으나, 제어의 복잡성, ride-through 대책 및 낮은 전압이용률 등은 상용화를 위해 해결해야 할 난제이다. 본 논문에서는 SVM를 적용한 매트릭스 컨버터의 설계 및 구현방법을 제안한다. 입력 고조파를 저감시키기 위한 입력필터와 입출력의 과전압 방지와 free-wheeling을 위한 클램프 회로의 설계기법을 제시하고, 고속 DSP와 CPLD를 사용하여 공간벡터 제어 및 4 단계 전류(commutation) 제어를 구현하며, 매트릭스 컨버터의 양방향 스위치 구동을 위한 전용의 전원회로를 설계하여, 최적 구조의 전력회로를 제안한다. 그리고 구현된 매트릭스 컨버터를 유도전동기에 적용하여 성공적인 운전 결과를 얻을 수 있었다.
