A Study of the CT MAR using Single-Source and Dual-Source Devices: Practical Comparison using Animal Phantom Fabrication (단일 선원 장치와 이중 선원 장치 비교를 이용한 전산화단층촬영 금속인공물 감소에 대한 연구: 동물팬텀 제작을 이용한 실측적인 비교)

  • This study aims to compare and evaluate the image differences between single and dual sources in applying a technique to reduce metal artifacts using dual energy CT. Discovery CT 256 (GE, USA) as a single source device and Somatom Definition Flash (Siemens Health Care, Forchheim, Germany) as a dual source device. The self-made phantom (pigs with medical titanium screws inserted) was quantitative and qualitatively evaluated under the same conditions by varying the dose under the same conditions using a dual energy CT. The evaluation method was compared by measuring SNR for metal artifacts (scattering, stripe) generated by metal inserts, divided around bones and around tissues. There was a difference in images in the method of reducing metal artifacts between single-source and dual-source devices. In a single source device, the linearized prosthesis by metal implantation showed a greater decrease than the image obtained from a double source device, and the surrounding tissue was well observed without interference from the artifact. In dual-source devices, scattering and stripe artifacts caused by metal inserts decreased more than on a single source device, and signals from adjacent tissues surrounding the metal implant were well observed without diminishing. If the examination is conducted separately between single source and dual source devices depending on whether the area to which the patient is intended to be viewed during the examination is adjacent to the metal insert or the total tissue surrounding the metal insert, it is believed that diagnostic helpful images can be obtained.

  • Recently, a new imaging method, gamma vertex imaging (GVI), was proposed for the verification of in-vivo proton dose distribution. In GVI, the vertices of prompt gammas generated by proton induced nuclear interaction were determined by tracking the Compton-recoiled electrons. The GVI system is composed of a beryllium electron converter for converting gamma to electron, two double-sided silicon strip detectors (DSSDs) for the electron tracking, and a scintillation detector for the energy determination of the electron. In the present study, the modules of a charge sensitive preamplifier (CSP) and a shaping amplifier for the analog signal processing of DSSD were developed and the performances were evaluated by comparing the energy resolutions with those of the commercial products. Based on the results, it was confirmed that the energy resolution of the developed CSP module was a little lower than that of the CR-113 (Cremat, Inc., MA), and the resolution of the shaping amplifier was similar to that of the CR-200 (Cremat, Inc., MA). The value of $V_{rms}$ representing the magnitude of noise of the developed system was estimated as 6.48 keV and it was confirmed that the trajectory of the electron can be measured by the developed system considering the minimum energy deposition ( > ~51 keV) of Compton-recoiled electron in 145-${\mu}m$-thick DSSD.

  • An appropriate lighting standard for the museum is needed to minimize the deterioration of the exhibits by the light. To obtain the basic data for the standard, a system to measure the color change of the artifacts as a function of the radiation energy frequency was constructed. Xenon lamp is used as a light source, and the light is irradiated to the samples through serveral cut-off filters. Measuring the colors of the samples under each filters, color change of the samples is estimated for each frequency ranges of radiation energy. As a result, natural dyes show severe color change in a short time, but traditional papers shows relatively small color change. Using measured results, color change due to other light sources can be calculated and this will be the base of the standard.

  • 세포막지질의 산화는 심각한 세포막의 기능저하를 유발하고 심하면 세포를 죽음에 이르게하여 생물학적으로 중요한 지표이다. 세포막지질의 산화는 간접적인 화학적 방법으로 측정하거나, 지질을 추출해내어 질량분석기나 핵자기공명분광기 같은 물리적 방법으로 분석한다. 우리는 이온유도 이차전자 방출계수(${\gamma}$) 변화를 측정하여 세포막지질의 산화를 지질추출 없이 측정할 수 있는지 조사해 보았다. 세포막분리가 쉬운 적혈구를 모델세포로 사용하였고, 다양한 라디칼을 발생시키는 대기압 공기 DBD플라즈마 장치를 이용하였다. 적혈구를 플라즈마에 노출하는 시간으로 산화의 정도에 차이를 만들어 측정값과 비교하였다. ${\gamma}$값은 Auger의 중화이론에 바탕을 둔 이온유도 이차전자 방출빔(${\gamma}$-FIB)장비를 이용하여 측정하였다. 측정결과 적혈구가 산화됨에 따라서 ${\gamma}$값이 증가함을 볼 수 있었고, 동시에 workfunction값이 변화함을 보았으며, 그 결과를 화학적 방법과 비교해 보았다.

  • 최근 10년간 우리나라의 에너지 소비는 매년 10[%]라는 세계 최고의 증가율을 기록하고 있으며 온실가스배출량 증가율 역시 세계 1 위를 기록하고 있다. 세계기후협약 이행이 늦추어지고는 있지만 머지않아 우리도 여기에 참여하지 않을 수 없는 형편이어서 대체에너지 개발의 필요성은 더욱 절실하게 요구되고 있는 실정이다. 11개 분야의 신 재생 어|너지 중에서 최근 가장 많은 관심을 갖고 있는 태양광 발전은 태양광을 직접 전기에너지로 변환시키는 기술로서 광을 조사시 광전효과에 의해 전기를 발생하는 원리를 이용한 발전방식이다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 이러한 구성장치에 의해 넓은 부지가 필요하며 햇빛의 방향에 따라 또는 태양전지에 입사하는 일사량의 정도에 따라 많은 발전전력에 차이가 있으므로 태양광 발전의 경우 발전단가가 높고 효율이 낮기 때문에 일사량에 따른 전력을 측정하여 효율적인 발전에 필요한 조건을 알아 보기위해 2007년 1년간의 실증운전을 통한 일사량과 전력발생량을 비교 분석하였으며 또한 햇빛의 일사량은 시간대별, 일별, 월별, 년별로 각각 달리 측정되므로 각각의 일사량에 따른 전력패턴을 분석하여 태양광 발전에 필요한 일사량과 전력과의 상관관계를 연구하였다.

Implementation on SVM based Step Detection Analyzer (SVM 기반의 걸음 검출 분석기의 구현)

  • In this study, we designed and implemented a step detection analyzer that can compare and analyze the step detection rates and results among the step detection algorithms. The step detection analyzer converts 3-axes accelerometer data into continuous energy stream through SVM operation, shows the horizontal comparison among the step detection results for each step detection algorithms, and can make elemental detection analyses. For these processes, the step detection analyzer presents the continuous energy stream as energy waveform, checks the peak values and time location of the detected steps with step detection algorithms, and gives visual interface to get some possible causes in cases of step detection miss. It can also give the threshold graph for each algorithm to check the threshold value on missed cases directly and can help to get more appropriate threshold values or other adjustable parameters in step detection algorithm. This step detection analyzer can be applied efficiently on performance enhancement of step detection algorithm, on deciding an appropriate algorithm for a specific step counter system in the various step counter filed operations.

Measurement of Energy Dependent Neutron Capture Cross Sections of $^{197}Au$ in Energy Region from 0.1 eV to 10 keV using a Lead Slowing-down Spectrometer

  • The neutron capture cross section of $^{197}Au$ has been measured relative to the $^{10}B(n,{\gamma})$ standard cross section by the neutron time-of-flight(TOF) method using a 46-MeV electron linear accelerator(linac) at the Research Reactor Institute, Kyoto University(KURRI). In order to experimentally prove the result obtained, the supplementary cross section measurement has been made from 0.1 eV to 10 keV using the Kyoto University Lead slowing-down spectrometer (KULS) coupling to the linac. The relative measurement by the TOF method has been normalized to the reference value(24.5 b) at 1 eV. The evaluated capture cross sections in JENDL/D-99 Dosimetry have been compared with the current measurements by the KULS experiments.

  • This paper presents the experimental and theoretical results of the dynamic responses of a pendular energy extractor in a two-dimensional wave channel. By adopting a wave maker with varying wave height and period, the dynamic responses of the pendular buoy were experimentally obtained. Furthermore, with the aid of the co-simulation of moving particle analysis and rigid dynamic analysis, the dynamic responses of the pendular system were evaluated. In order to validate the feasibility of the proposed wave power generator, the force tuning of the pendular system with restoring energy was carried out. The results provide proof of concept data for the development and design of a commercial model for horizontal wave power generators in the shoreline area.

Measurement of Apron Shielding Rate for X-ray and Gamma-ray (X선 및 감마선에 대한 apron의 차폐율 측정)

  • This research measured the shielding rates of apron 0.25 and 0.5 mmPb for X-ray energy in diagnosis radiation system and gamma-ray energy of $^{99m}Tc$-MDP and $^{18}F$-FDG. X-ray energies were measured on effective energy of $26.2{\sim}45.6\;keV$ when additional filtering plate of 0, 2 mmAl is used within the range of tube voltage $40{\sim}120\;kVp$, and at this time, apron 0.5 mmPb has shown about 5.5% of increase in its shielding rate over 0.25 mmPb at the highest quality. Besides, the aprons of the two types have shown high shielding rate of over 90% for direct X-ray and spatial dose rate. And, in case 0.25 and 0.5 mmPb aprons were used at 140keV of $^{99m}Tc$-MDP, the shielding effects were between 30 and 53%, and at high energy of 511 keV, $^{18}F$-FDG, the shielding effects of apron, $1.3{\sim}3.6%$, were very small.

  • In this paper, research about SVM(stack voltage monitoring) module is written, which studied to detect the failure mode of stack and stop stack driving. It is important role for SVM module to monitor the cell voltage and also, transfer those data to Supervisor controller. SVM module needs accurate measurement to detect failure mode, because the cell voltage is very small value under a few [V]. For improving these cost and technical efficiency, the electric characteristic experiment is made with the measurement circuit designed by using precision resistor.
