Variation in Leaf Characteristics among Hybrids of Jeoktanshim Hibiscus syriacus L (적단심계 무궁화 품종간 교배차대묘의 엽 특성 변이)

  • This study was performed to provide basic information of the development and breeding of new cultivars of Hibiscus syriacus L., which have more beautiful and diverse flowers. Morphological characteristics of the leaves and genetic variation of the leaves of two Jeoktanshim-line cultivars, Bulsae and Pyungsung, were crossed each other. The result of the cross between Bulsae and Pyungsung are as follows: Mean leaf length and width were 6.09cm and 3.36cm, respectively. Mean petiole length was 1.08cm, and mean shoulder width and incision depth were 1.50cm and 0.84cm, respectively. Mean leaf base angle was $98.56^{\circ}$. Leaf index and petiole length were the most important components of leaf characteristics. Two groups were clustered in distance level 5.4. The result of the cross between Pyungsung and Bulsae are as follows: Mean leaf length and width were 5.25cm and 3.10cm, respectively. Mean petiole length was 0.87cm, and mean shoulder width and incision depth were 1.50cm and 0.76cm, respectively. Mean leaf base angle was $107.87^{\circ}$, which was the widest among ten cross combinations. Two groups were clustered with seven leaf characteristics in distance level 4.2. Group I included two small groups, and group II included four small groups.

A Correlation between the Perceived Symptom of Musculoskeletal Diseases and Psychosocial Factors of Dental Professionals in C Region (C지역 치과종사자의 근골격계 질환 자각증상과 사회심리적 특성과의 관계)

  • To investigate the correlation between the perceived symptom of musculoskeletal diseases and psychosocial factors in dental professionals in Chungcheong province, a self-administered survey was conducted on 206 dental professionals in Chungcheong province from March 9th, 2009 to March 28th, 2009. SPSS WIN 12.0 software was used to analyze the data and the following results were obtained. 1. As for the perceived symptom degree of musculoskeletal diseases based on measured body parts, the frequency of 'high' was the highest in all the parts of the body. 2. As for gender, females showed higher interest in musculoskeletal diseases than males (p=.000). As for age, subjects ranged 26~30 years showed the highest interest in musculoskeletal diseases, which was statistically significant (p=.000). 3. Work satisfaction showed a positive correlation with the perceived symptom of musculoskeletal diseases in lumbar group and lower extremity group. Work stress showed a weak negative correlation with the perceived symptom of musculoskeletal diseases in lumbar group and lower extremity group. Coworker satisfaction showed a positive correlations with the perceived symptom in upper extremity group and lower extremity group. Hospital satisfaction showed a positive correlations with the perceived symptom in upper extremity group, lumbar group and lower extremity group. Working environment satisfaction showed a positive correlations with the perceived symptom in neck group, shoulder group, upper extremity group and lower extremity group. This study showed a correlation between psychosocial factors and the perceived symptom of musculoskeletal diseases based on body parts. Therefore, psychosocial factors should be considered when the prevention and management program of musculoskeletal diseases are developed.

  • 자연에너지원중 태양에너지를 이용한 자갈축열 태양열 온실의 난방에너지 절감효과를 분석하기 위하여 야간에 내부설정온도를 18℃로 했을 때의 자갈축열 태양열 온실과 동일한 제원의 대조온실의 난방연료소비량을 비교하였다. 자갈축열 태양열 온실의 경우 난방초기에는 연료가 대조온실에 비해 약 10%정도 더 소모되었으나 2일이 경과한 후에는 점차 난방연료소비량이 감소하였다(Fig. 2) 이러한 결과는 자갈축열 태양열 온실의 경우 주간에 온실에 투여되는 일사에 의해 축열이 이루어 질뿐만 아니라 야간에 난방을 할 경우에도 축열층의 온도가 설정온도에 도달할 때까지 축열이 이루지기 때문인 것으로 분석되었다 (Fig. 1). 3월 10일부터 3월 15일까지 6일간의 난방연료소비량이 대조온실은 167℃였으나, 자갈축열 태양열 온실은 109℃로써 대조온실에 비해 약 35%정도 난방연료 절감효과가 있는 것으로 분석되었다(Fig. 2). 6일간의 난방 후 자갈축열 태양열 온실에 난방을 중단한 결과 온실외부의 최저기온이 -2.4℃일 때 자갈축열 태양열 온실의 내부최저온도는 14℃를 유지하였으며, 이후 계속 난방을 수행하지 않은 상태에서도 주간에 축열효과로 인하여 최저외기온이 3℃전후일 때 자갈축열 태양열 온실의 내부온도는 15℃를 유지하였으나 대조온실은 5℃ 전후였다. 그리고, 일기온차가 심한 3월말에는 야간설정온도가 18℃인 경우에 자갈축열 태양열 온실의 난방연료소비량이 대조온실에 비해 월등히 적음을 알 수 있었다(Fig. 1, 2). 3월에 자갈축열 태양열 온실의 난방연료소비량은 대조온실에 비해 약 50%이상의 절감효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다./TEX>3.1cm, 2cm$\times$4.2cm 순으로 나타났다. 5. 저고리의 옆길이 곡선에 대한 평가는 진종의 중심인 겨드랑이가 5cm인 것이 가장 우수한 것으로 나타났으며, 그 다음으로 4cm, 6cm, 3cm 순으로 나타났다. 6. 이에 위의 항목들을 종합하여 제작한 연구저고리는 등길이가 28cm, 어깨선 위치는 1.75cm, 깃크기는 5cm$\times$21.5cm, 소매통 크기는 3cm$\times$4.3cm, 옆길이 곡선은 5cm로써 그 형태에 따른 신체적합성에 대한 외관 관능검사 결과로 3.83의 평균값으로 나타났고, 심미성에 대한 외관 관능검사를 항목별 평균치 값으로 종합하면 4.00의 값으로 나타났다. 또한 각 부위별 동작적합성 관능검사는 7가지 동작을 부위별 항목 평균치 결과 3.95의 유수한 저고리로 평가되었다. 본 연구 실험 결과 앞으로도 전통 저고리를 피복함에 있어 외관과 동작적합성이 좋은 저고리를 만들기 위해 지속적 연구가 요청된다. turned back than the Korean women's. Comparison of 3D Scanned Anthropometric Data between Korean and American Adults by using Ratios and Indices (지수치를 활용한 한국과 매국 성인 3차원 인체치수 비교)

  • The body measurement ratios and indices used in this study are all 3D female measurement data of the two countries were obtained from Size Korea Project and SizeUSA Project. The purpose of the study is to compare and analyze body measurement data between two countries. The results of this research are helpful for the clothing manufacturer and company to trade with America. The samples were 1,988 Korean and 6,306 American females. Thirty-five body measurement ratios and indices were chosen as the principal measurements in making garments. The conclusion of this research was as follow; First, U.S. females have measurements that exceed Korean women, except for crotch length total and shoulder slope. Second, the correlation coefficients of height and weight are relatively higher than other measurements in the two countries' body measurements. Finally, American women's height ratios are significantly bigger than Korean women's in most height ratios. On the other hand, Korean are significantly bigger than American in weight ratios. The drop values of Korean females are also smaller than those of American. It was recognized that American women are much bigger, wider and more obese than Korean according to the results by utilizing the girth ratios. BMI, Rohrer and Vervaeck index.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the success or failure on the balance beam in element group requirements posture which is bending salto side-ward tucked through kinetic analysis. The national team players were participated. The goal was to present training methods to coaches and athletes so as to provide scientifically useful information. The results from this study were summarized as below. When the performance was successful, the features of the body's center of gravity during the side somersault motion showed to spread from the center of the balance beam and the center of the gravity moved to the direction of the body's rotation. In the spring sections - event2 and 3, when the performance was successful, up/down fluctuation became more wider and increased air time. It supported the result that the projecting variable was higher than in failure trial. In addition, the right side hip joint angles and speed, and angular velocity as jumping up for a leap were larger than in failure trial. Those variables showed the optimal conditions for a leap. By increasing the speed of the upper limb from the shoulder and the speed of the shoulder joint angular velocity, the momentum was increased. Especially the right side shoulder joint angular velocity increased dramatically because the right leg was held. As to the side somersault motion, the angular momentum of successful trial with respect to x-axis was bigger than failed trial. It indicated that the increasing angular momentum with respect to x-axis was an important factor in flying motion. Besides, as to side somersault, the appropriate proportion of angular momentum with respect to y-axis and z-axis was a key to successful trails.

Pillar Width of Twin Tunnels in Horizontal Jointed Rock Using Large Scale Model Tests (대형모형실험을 통한 수평 절리암반에서의 병설터널 이격거리)

  • Stability of twin tunnels depends on the pillar width and the ground condition. In this study, large scale model tests were conducted for investigating the influence of the pillar width of twin tunnels on their behavior in the regular horizontal jointed rock mass. Jointed rocks was composed of concrete blocks. Pillar width of twin tunnels varied in 0.29D, 0.59D, 0.88D and 1.18D, where D is the tunnel width. During the test, pillar stress, lining stress, tunnel distortion, and ground displacement were measured. Lateral earth pressure coefficient was kept in a constant value 1.0. As a result, it was found that the pillar stress and the displacement of the ground and tunnel were increased by decreasing pillar width. The maximum displacement rate was measured just after the upper excavation in each construction sequence. And the maximum influence position was the right shoulder of the preceeding tunnel at the pillar side. It was also found that for the stability assessment the inner displacement was more critical than the crown displacement. The influence zone was formed at the pillar width 0.59D~0.88D that was smaller than 0.8D~2.0D, which was proposed by experience for a good ground condition. And it would be concluded that horizontal joints could also influence on the stability of the twin tunnels.

A Study Practice of Infection Control for Dental Office and Dental Hygienist and Bacterial Contamination of Dental Office Surface (치과 의료기관 및 치과위생사의 감염관리 실천도와 진료실내의 표면 세균오염도에 대한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the status of infection control in dental office and the degree of infection control practice of dental hygienists. A self-reported questionnaire was answered by 193 dental hygienists working in dental hospitals or dental clinics in Gyeonggi and Incheon areas. The number of bacteria was measured sample of surface dental unit chair shoulder backrests and light handles from 19 dental hospitals and 28 dental clinics. It was responded that impression or occlusion bodies were routinely disinfected in 52.6% of the dental hospitals and dental prosthesis were routinely disinfected in 46.4% in dental clinics. The dental hospital and clinics disinfect the surface each 26.3%, 25% after the patient treatment. The dental hospital and clinic were detected bacteria $5.02^*10\^3CFU/mL$, $1^*10\^4CFU/mL$, from dental unit chair backrest, respectively and $8.32^*10\^3CFU/mL$, $4.26^*10\^4CFU/mL$ from light handles, respectively. At the conclusion of this investigation, it can be kept from infection source in dental office is to make the right selection and use of the personal protective equipments and to improve the practice level by regular and active education. The same infection control practice should be done by institutionalizing and mandating infection control practice.

Tensile Performance of Machine-Cut Dovetail Joint with Larch Glulam (낙엽송집성재를 이용한 기계프리커트 주먹장접합부의 인장성능)

  • Members used for the Korean traditional joints have been processed by handicraft, especially with domestic red pine species. Dovetail joint is most commonly used in woodworking joinery and traditional horizontal and vertical connections. It is able to be processed much easier to cut by handicraft and machines. However, although it is processed straight forwards, it requires a high degree of accuracy to ensure a snug fit. Also, tenons and mortises must fit together with no gap between them so that the joint interlocks tightly. A few scientific studies on the dovetail joints have been conducted so far. For the effective applications of traditional joints and domestic plantation wood species, dovetail joints were assembled by larch glulam members processed by machine pre-cut. To identify the tensile properties of through dovetail joints, larch glulam with 150 150mm in cross section were prepared. Furthermore, various geometric parameters of dovetai joints such as width, length, and tenon angle, were surveyed. The ends in the mortise was cracked mainly at a low strength level in the control specimens without reinforcements. The maximum tensile strengths of reinforced specimens considering real connections such as capital joint and headpiece on a column, increasedby handicraft, especially with domestic red pine species. Development of Supplemental Equipment to Reduce Movement During Fusion Image Acquisition (융합영상(Fusion image)에서 움직임을 줄이기 위한 보정기구의 개발)

  • Purpose: Patients' movement during long image acquisition time for the fusion image of PET-CT (Positron Emission Tomography-Computed Tomography) results in unconformity, and greatly affects the quality of the image and diagnosis. The arm support fixtures provided by medical device companies are not manufactured considering the convenience and safety of the patients; the arm and head movements (horizontal and vertical) during PET/CT scan cause defects in the brain fundus images and often require retaking. Therefore, this study aims to develop patient-compensation device that would minimize the head and arm movements during PET/CT scan, providing comfort and safety, and to reduce retaking. Materials and Methods: From June to July 2012, 20 patients who had no movement-related problems and another 20 patients who had difficulties in raising arms due to shoulder pain were recruited among the ones who visited nuclear medicine department for PET Torso scan. By using Patient Holding System (PHS), different range of motion (ROM) in the arm ($25^{\circ}$, $27^{\circ}$, $29^{\circ}$, $31^{\circ}$, $33^{\circ}$, $35^{\circ}$) was applied to find the most comfortable angle and posture. The manufacturing company was investigated for the permeability of the support material, and the comfort level of applying bands (velcro type) to fix the patient's head and arms was evaluated. To find out the retake frequency due to movements, the amount of retake cases pre/post patient-compensation were analyzed using the PET Torso scan data collected between January to December 2012. Results: Among the patients without movement disorder, 18 answered that PHS and $29^{\circ}$ arm ROM were the most comfortable, and 2 answered $27^{\circ}$ and $31^{\circ}$, respectively. Among the patients with shoulder pain, 15 picked $31^{\circ}$ as the most comfortable angle, 2 picked $33^{\circ}$, and 3 picked $35^{\circ}$. For this study, the handle was manufactured to be adjustable for vertical movements. The material permeability of the patient-compensation device has been verified, and PHS and the compensation device were band-fixed (velcro type) to prevent device movements. A furrow was cut for head fixation to minimize the head and neck movements, fixing bands were attached for the head, wrist, forearm, and upper arm to limit movements. The retake frequency of PET Torso scan due to patient movements was 11.06% (191 cases/1,808 patients) before using the movement control device, and 2.65% (48 cases/1,732 patients) after using the device; 8.41% of the frequency was reduced. Conclusion: Recent change and innovation in the medical environment are making expensive medical image scans, and providing differentiated services for the customers is essential. To secure patient comfort and safety during PET/CT scans, ergonomic patient-compensation devices need to be provided. Therefore, this study manufactured a patientcompensation device with vertically adjustable ergonomic ROM according to the patient's body shape and condition during PET Torso scan. The defects in the basal ganglia images due to arm movements were reduced, and retaking was decreased.

Exposure and Risk Assessment for Operator Exposure to Insecticide Acetamiprid during Water Melon Cultivation in Greenhouse using Whole Body Dosimetry (수박 시설재배에서 살충제 Acetamiprid 사용 시 전신노출법에 의한 농작업자의 노출 및 위해성평가)

  • Assessment for operator's dermal and inhalation exposure to acetamiprid during cultivation of water melon in greenhouse was carried out. For dermal exposure measurement, whole body dosimetry (WBD) was performed as the first trial in Korea. WBD consists of cotton/polyester outer clothes and cotton inner clothes. Hand exposure was measured by washing of nitrile gloves and hands while head exposure was monitored by face/neck wipe technique. Inhalation exposure was monitored with personal air sampling pumps and IOM sampler (glass fiber filter). Analytical limit of quantitation was 2.5 ng/mL. Good reproducibility (C.V < 8.7%), linearity ($R^2$ > 0.99) and recovery (70~119%) were obtained. Field recovery of acetamiprid was 77~95%. During mixing/loading, hand exposure of acetamiprid was about 10 times ($229.7{\mu}g$) more than that of application case ($20.9{\mu}g$). During application, total dermal exposure was $1207.4{\mu}g$. Exposure of lower legs was $1132.1{\mu}g$, which is 93.8% of the total dermal exposure. Inhalation exposure during mixing/loading and application was not detected. Margin of safety (MOS) was calculated for risk assessment using male Korean average body weight (70 kg) and acceptable operator exposure level ($124{\mu}g/kg/day$) to give 140, suggesting that health risk of operator during treatment of acetamiprid for water melon in greenhouse could be safe.
