Self-aligning Characteristics of Optical Sheets with Apertures (배면개구형 집광시트의 자체 정렬 특성)

  • Optical sheets with apertures on the opposite side of the substrate are designed and analyzed in order to use them as high efficiency light concentration sheets in LCD edge-lit backlight. Formation of apertures by self-aligning exposure were analyzed for the microlens array sheet, pyramid array sheet, and cone array sheet and the microlens array sheet showed the best performance for the formation of apertures by the self-aligning exposure.

  • Recently, flexible displays have been used as part of fashion beyond the concept of parts for electronic products. The flexible display applied to wearable fashion products flexibly bends according to the wearing position of the human body and, at the same time, decorates the fashion product more splendidly through the screen on which images or videos are displayed. Flexible displays, which are used for clothes and accessories, combine analogue fashion sensibility with digital screens to create a new level of convergence product design and expand the range of fashion design and fashion materials. This study aims to analyze the trends of the development and commercialization of fashion products that use flexible displays. As a research method, theoretical research and empirical research through case analysis were conducted in parallel. First, as a theoretical study, the morphological and technical characteristics of flexible displays were examined. Through theoretical studies, the effect of the characteristics of flexible displays on the development of wearable fashion products was investigated. Second, as an empirical case study, the design of wearable fashion products using flexible displays over the past 10 years and the characteristics of the displays used in the products were analyzed. Based on the characteristics analyzed, the product design, display and product integration methods and the commercialization stages of wearable fashion products using flexible displays were analyzed.

The electro-optical characteristics of PDLC (PDLC의 전기광학적 특성)

  • Recently, the PDLC(Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal) is being developed lively to make a large display device using a liquid crystal. Because of low light loss, high brightness, and simple fabrication process, it is made easily to large display device, In this study, the response time and light transmittance by the applied voltage is measured to analyze the electro-optical characteristics of PDLC. The He-Ne laser is applied to the PDLC cell, the light transmittance is measured using the photodiode and the result is analyzed and displayed graphically by the digital oscilloscope. The result of comparison between the PDLC and the present LCD is used to study the potential as a display device.

  • This study proposed the optimum design values for the biological clean room system observing the regulations of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP). Even though the standard for industrial clean room system has been well established, the basis for biological food clean room system is the first stage. In order to prevent the contaminations in advance for food storages, processes, and distributions, the criterion of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point is positively required. This study also suggested the possible ways of how to avoid the hazardous contaminations.

  • As the development of semiconductor process technology continue to advance, ICs continue their trend toward higher performance low power system-on-chip (SOC). These circuits require on board multi power supply. In this paper, a 0.5 ㎛ dual date oxide CMOS Process technology for multi-power application is demonstrated. 5 V and 20 V devices fabricated by proposed process is measured. From 5 V devices using dual gate precess, we got almost the same characteristics as are obtained from standard 5 V devices. And the characteristics of the 20 V device demonstrates that 3 ㎛ devices with minimum gate length are available without reliability degradation. Electrical parameters in minimum 3 ㎛ devices are 520 ㎂/㎛ current density, 120 ㎷ DIBL, 24 V BV for NMOS and ,350 ㎂/㎛ current density, 180 ㎷ DIBL, 26 V BV for PMOS, respectively.

  • The fringe electric field driven transflective liquid crystal display with dual orientation has a problem that the voltage-dependent transmittance and reflectance curves do not match each other, requiring a dual driving circuit to achieve a high electro-optic performance. Optimizations of the electrode structure in the array substrate and rubbing direction solve this problem so that the transflective display with a single gap and a single gamma curve for reflective and transmissive region is possible.

  • Polysilicon thin-film transistors (poly-Si TFTs)는 능동행렬 액정 표시 소자(AMLCD : Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Display)와 DRAM과 같은 메모리 분야에 폭넓게 적용이 가능하기 때문에 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 최근 poly-Si TFTs의 우수한 특성으로 인하여 주변 driving circuits에 직접화가 가능하게 되었다. 또한 디스플레이 LCD 패널에 controller와 메모리와 같은 다 기능의 장치을 직접화 하여 비용의 절감과 소자의 소형화가 가능한 SOP (System on panels)에 연구 또한 진행 되고 있다. 이미 잘 알려진 바와 같이 비휘발성 메모리는 낮은 소비전력과 비휘발성이라는 특성 때문에 이동식 디바이스에 데이터 저장 장치로 많이 사용되고 있다. 하지만 플로팅 타입의 비휘발성 메모리는 제작공정의 문제로 인하여 SOP의 적용에 어려움을 가지고 있다. SONOS 타입의 메모리는 빠른 쓰기/지우기 효율과 긴 데이터 유지 특성을 가지고 있으나 소자의 스케일링 따른 누설전류의 증가와 10년의 데이터 보존 특성을 만족 시킬 수 가 없는 문제가 발생한다. 본 연구에서는 SOP 적용을 위하여 ELA 방법을 통하여 결정화한 poly-Si TFT memory를 SiO2/Si3N4/SiO2 Tunnel barrier와 High-k HfO2과 Al2O3을 Trapping layer와 Blocking layer로 적용, 비휘발성 메모리을 제작하여 전기적 특성을 알아보았다.

Development of a Portable ELF Electric Field Meter (휴대용 극저주파 전장측정기 개발)

  • This paper dealt with the developed portable electric field meter which consisted of planar-type sensor, analog amplifier with gain controller, A/D convertor, and display unit. The principle of the planar-type sensor for detecting time-varying electric field of extremely low frequency (ELF) bandwidth was described, and a calibration system using cylindrical guard electrodes and parallel-plate electrodes was proposed. From the calibration experiment, the frequency bandwidth and the sensitivity of the developed electric field meter was $17[Hz]{\sim}7[kHz]$, and 4.45[mV/V/m], respectively. Also it can measure the electric field strength up to 10[kV/m], and the measured result was displayed on the liquid crystal display in digit. The electric field meter can be widely applied to measure electric field strength radiated from power lines, computers, and home appliances such as hair dryer, heater, etc.

  • In order to realize a 3-D stereoscopic display module with alternating illumination angles, several conditions required for a lenticular lens sheet were established, and then both the lens specification and the module structure were designed. Also the performance of the stereoscopic module and its tolerance characteristics were evaluated by simulating the intensity distribution on the observation plane with a finite-ray tracing technique. From the evaluation, it was known that an intersection area between two adjacent lenses should not be filled and that the lateral mismatch between a planar liquid crystal shutter and a lens sheet should be minimized.
