In this paper, we present a new fire animation and visualization scheme. The most difficult problem in creating fire animation is how to simulate the mechanism of emitting lighting and heat of fire. We attack the difficulty by presenting a hybrid scheme that combines the simulation scheme and the combustion process in voxelized space where the numerical solution of the classical fluid equations is implemented. Therefore, the combustion process is simulated at each voxel and the amount of heat generated at the voxel is estimated. The generated heat will increase the temperature at the voxel, where results in the increase of turbulent motion of fire. We also propose a visualization scheme that modifies the photon mapping algorithm in order to render fire and various lighting effects of fire to the environments.
In game characters, the direction of character design varies depending on the expression or production method. It is necessary to perform game character personality design by reflecting the importance. This study derives the importance of the game character personality model using AHP for the efficient decision and presents game character personality design check tool. In design elements, the importance of external appearance was the highest in all of style. In personality factors, action in 3D realism, external appearance in 3D animation, and speech in 2D animation were the most important.
In general, simulation is to predict or evaluate some systems that are hard to be executed in real world, and so usually the target systems to be modeled are large and complex. Trying to observe the dynamics of the systems results in similar level of animation complexity, the model and animation has the same complexity as the system. Trying to display all the graphic objects representing the dynamics of the models being simulated, however, causes the distraction of focus, which results in solving the above listed problems difficult. The redundant graphic objects also increase the computer computation overhead. To solve the problem, a research about a hierarchical animation environment has been proposed a few years ago. In the research, the users can have better focus on the dynamics of system components by selectively choosing the hierarchical level and components within a level of the hierarchically structured model. However, the research has not a modeling methodology for modelers to describe systematically animation part corresponding to dynamics of simulation in a model. This research has defined the modeling methodology of DESHA and defined DESHA-C++, improving the previous research output, as an execution environment of DESHA models. In addition, to use hierarchical animation environment in various problems, this research proposed and developed the distributed simulation modeling environment that connects DESHA environment and HLA.
In spite of lots of differences in the production process of film animation, the animating method through computer is not much different between game animation and film animation. It is because the principles of film animation are also emphasized for the production of game animation. This study aims to consider the line of action showing the direction of movement and flow of energy among many considerations for the character pose work in case when producing game animation. Starting from the basic theory of drawing, the line of action plays a role of bible in the pose work including cell animation and 3D animation. After examining the theoretical background through preceding researches in order to understand the application of the line of action to the pose work of game characters, the poses of hero characters of a 3D online game 'Over Watch' were collected and then lines were directly drawn to analyze them. And as a result, the pose of characters with simple and clear 'Line of action' was good. This study aimed to consider the expression techniques of character pose in the production of game animation, which is expected to be used as an important reference for game animators at work.
Since the launching of in 1963, a large amount of outstanding cartoons had been produced in China by the year 1980. During this period of time, international reputation was achieved with the extremely full expression and characteristic stories originated from Chinese culture. Decades of cartoons were produced ever year benefiting from support of the government in the last years. However, the quality and in fluence power dropped down comparing with the increasing productivity. The outward followed by examples of successful international box office most of the animation made in China. These cartoons did not obtain admitting internationally, or disclose any traditional speciality of China, although the domestic box office is considered to be fairly successful. The key factors to the successful cases should be analysed and researched rather than simply estimating, in order to achieve both artistic and commercial success. Factor of humor, as a key element of a successful cartoon is proposed in this thesis. Prior to the discussion, a general definition of humor factor is described through Henri Bergson's comedy concept, based on which the key factors of humor will be analysed. A classification system would be derived and introduced as a tool for the analysis of humor factors. According to Henri Bergson, Humor is determined by circumstance, language and character factors. Humor factors are divided into visual, scene and acoustic factors in this research taking the Speciality of cartoon media into consideration. It is the speciality that, in addition to the visual and language factors, multiple acoustic elements are also introduced in such a presentation pattern. This classification system would be considerably applicable to the analysis of humor factors in Chinese cartoons. In this study, around the year 2000 to share the Chinese animation masterpiece were analyzed by selecting and , and . This discussion about key factors of humor is likely to be beneficial to the development of Chinese Cartoons in the future.
This paper proposes an efficient walktlu-ough animation from two images of the same scene. To make animation easily and fast, Tour Into the Picture(TIP) enables walkthrough animation from single image but lacks the reality of its foreground object when the viewpoint moves from side to side, and view morphing uses only 2D transition between two images but restricts its camera path on the line between two views. By combining advantages of these two image-based techniques, this paper suggests a new virtual navigation technique which enable natural scene transformation when the viewpoint changes in the side-to-side direction as well as in the depth direction. In our method, view morphing is employed only in foreground objects , and background scene which is perceived carelessly is mapped into cube-like 3D model as in TIP, so as to save laborious 3D reconstruction costs and improve visual realism simultaneously. To do this, we newly define a camera transformation between two images from the relationship of the spidery mesh transformation and its corresponding 3D view change. The result animation shows that our method creates a realistic 3D virtual navigation using a simple interface.
With the media's shift into the digital era in the 2000s, comic book publishers attempted a transition into the new medium by establishing a distribution structure using internet networks. But that effort shied from escaping the parallel-page reading structure of traditional comics. On the other hand, webtoons are showing divers changes by redesigning the structure of traditional sequential art media; they tend to separate and allot spaces according to the vertical scroll reading method of the internet browser and include animations, sound effects and background music. This trend is also in accordance with the preferences of modern readers. Modern society has complicated social structures with the development of various media; the public is therefore exposed to different stimuli and shows characteristics of differentiated perceptions. In other words, webtoons display more relevant and entertaining characteristics by inserting sounds and using moving texts and characters in specific frames, while traditional comics require an appreciation of withdrawal and immersion like other published media. Motions in webtoons are partially applied for dramatic tension or to create an effective expression of action. For example, hand-drawn animation is adopted to express motions by dividing motion images into many layers. Sounds are also utilized, such as background music with episode-related lyrics, melodies, ambient sounds and motion-related sound effects. In addition, webtoons provide readers with new amusement by giving tactile stimuli via the vibration of a smart phone. As stated above, the vertical direction, time-based nature of animation motions and tactile stimuli used in webtoons are differentiated from published comics. However, webtoons' utilization of innovative techniques hasn't yet reached its full potential. In addition to the fact that the software used for webtoon effects is operationally complex, this is a transitional phenomenon since there is still a lack of technical understanding of animation and sound application amongst the general public. For example, a sound might be programmed to play when a specific frame scrolls into view on the monitor, but the frame may be scrolled faster or slower than the author intended; in this case, sound can end before or after a reader sees the whole image. The motion of each frame is also programmed to start in a similar fashion. Therefore, a reader's scroll speed is related to the motion's speed. For this reason, motions might miss the intended timing and be unnatural because they are played out of context. Also, finished sound effects can disturb the concentration of readers. These problems come from a shortage of continuity; to solve these, naturally activated consecutive sounds or animations, like the simple rotation of joints when a character moves, is required.

In the virtual space with the interactive 3D contents, the degree of mental satisfaction is determined by how fully it reflect the real world. There are a few factors for getting the high completeness of virtual space. The first is the modeling technique with high-polygons and high-resolution textures which can heighten an visual effect. The second is the functionality. It is about how realistic represents dynamic actions between the virtual space and the user or the system. Although the studies on the techniques for animating and controlling the virtual characters have been continued, there are problems such that the long production time, the high cost, and the animation without expected behaviors. This paper suggest a method of behavior control of animation by designing the optimized skeleton which produces the movement of character and applying the procedural technique using physical law and mathematical analysis. The proposed method is free from the constraint on one-to-one correspondence rules, and reduce the production time by controlling the simple parameters, and to increase the degree of visual satisfaction.
In this paper, we propose 3D cloud animation by cloud modeling method of 2D images retrieved from a meteorological satellite. First, on the satellite images, we locate numerous control points to perform thin-plate spline warping analysis between consecutive frames for the modeling of cloud motion. In addition, the spectrum channels of visible and infrared wavelengths are used to determine the amount and altitude of clouds for 3D cloud image reconstruction. Pre-integrated volume rendering method is used to achieve seamless inter-laminar shades in real-time using small number of slices of the volume data. The proposed method could successfully construct continuously moving 3D clouds from 2D satellite images at an acceptable speed and image quality.
This paper presents a method in which the user produces a real-time facial animation by navigating in the space of facial expressions created from a great number of captured facial expressions. The core of the method is define the distance between each facial expressions and how to distribute into suitable intuitive space using it and user interface to generate realtime facial expression animation in this space. We created the search space from about 2,400 raptured facial expression frames. And, when the user free travels through the space, facial expressions located on the path are displayed in sequence. To visually distribute about 2,400 captured racial expressions in the space, we need to calculate distance between each frames. And we use Floyd's algorithm to get all-pairs shortest path between each frames, then get the manifold distance using it. The distribution of frames in intuitive space apply a multi-dimensional scaling using manifold distance of facial expression frames, and distributed in 2D space. We distributed into intuitive space with keep distance between facial expression frames in the original form. So, The method presented at this paper has large advantage that free navigate and not limited into intuitive space to generate facial expression animation because of always existing the facial expression frames to navigate by user. Also, It is very efficient that confirm and regenerate nth realtime generation using user interface easy to use for facial expression animation user want.
