Effects of Music Therapy Activity on the Stress Change of Alcoholics with Extended Song Sharing (확장된 노래나누기를 중심으로 한 음악치료 활동이 알코올중독자의 스트레스 변화에 미치는 효과)

  • This study aims to examine the moderating effect of Extended Song Sharing for helping alcoholics to deal with stress. ESS is structure with non-verbal techniques approaches traditional Song Sharing technique. For this study, 64 alcoholics hospitalized were experimental (n=33) and control groups (n=31). The group was asked to participate in 12 ESS programs twice a week, every 45 minutes for six weeks. During this period, all those who belonged to the experimental and control groups were required to continue to participate in treatment programs prescribed by hospitals. Result: ESS interventional effects on subjects were evaluated using a stress response scale. As a result of the experiment, the WCC score of the experimental group increased 7.3% (p=0.000) but there was almost no change in the control group (1.5% increase, p=0.019). Effects of WCC types were higher in the experimental group, followed by 13.67% (p=0.006) in coping with wishful thinking, 9.66% (p=0.000) in the pursuit of social support, 6.35% (p=0.000) in dealing with problems, and 4% (p=0.000) in coping with emotions. ESS activities have been confirmed to improve the way alcoholics cope with stress.

효모에 의한 과실주중의 감산 효과에 관한 연구 제1보 균주의 분리 및 동정

  • 미생물학적 감산현상에 의하여 과실주중의 산미를 조절하기 위한 방법으로 효모에 의하여 사과산을 알코올로 분해하는 Maloalcohol 발효를 유도하고자 하여 본 연구를 하였다. 이미 발표된 Schizosaccharomyces pombe 0-77보다 단 시간에 강력히 사과산을 소비하는 효모균을 딸기의 과피로부터 분리, 동정하였다. 본 분리균을 J. Lodder의 “The Yeasts”에 준하여 동정한 바 분열법에 의하여 증식하며 포자를 형성하고 galactose 를 발효못하므로 Schizosacoha-romyces 속으로 분류하였다. 위균사를 잘 형성하며 melibiose를 발효하므로 Schizosaccharomyces japonicus와 일치 하였다. 그러나 변종의 동정은 어려우나 위균사의 형태로 보아 Schizosaccharomyces japonicus var. japonicus로 동정하였다.

  • The kinetics of the solvolysis of benzyl and p-or m-substituted benzyl bromides in various alcohols have been determined by an electric conductivity method. From these reactions, a curved Hammett plot is obtained and a mechanism is proposed to account for the nonlinear behavior observed. In addition, effects of solvent polarity on the activation parameters for the solvolysis of benzyl bromides are discussed.

Production of Enzymatic Hydrolysate Including Water-soluble Fiber from Hemicellulose Fraction of Chinese Cabbage Waste (효소적 분해에 의한 배추부산물 hemicellulose 분획으로부터 수용성 식이섬유소 함유 가수분해물의 생산)

  • This study was performed to determine the optimal hydrolysis conditions for the production of hydrolysates, including water-soluble dietary fiber from Chinese cabbage, with commercial enzymes. The optimal pH and temperature for hydrolysis of the hemicellulose fraction were pH 5.0 and $40^{\circ}C$, and optimal enzyme concentrations were 45 units and 21 units for Shearzyme plus and Viscozyme L, respectively. The yields of the hydrolysate including the water-soluble dietary fiber from the hemicellulose fraction by Shearzyme plus and Viscozyme L were 22.64 and 24.73%, respectively, after a 72 h reaction. The molecular weight distribution of alcohol-insoluble fiber was characterized by gel chromatography; degradation of hemicellulose increased with increasing reaction time. Our results indicate that the hemicellulose fraction was degraded to water-soluble dietary fiber by enzymatic hydrolysis, and its hydrolysate could be utilized as new watersoluble food materials.

Effect of Herbal Composition on Alcohol Degradation and Anti-inflammatory Activity in Mice (생약 조성물의 알코올 분해 및 항염증 효과)

  • These studies were conducted to investigate the effects an herbal extract composition(MHE) containing $Hovenia$ $dulcis$ T., $Artemisa$ $capillaris$ T., $Pueraria$ $thunbergiana$ B., $Polygonatum$ $falcatum$ A., $Agastache$ $rugosa$ O., $Silybum$ $marianum$ L. and $Glycyrrhiza$ $uralensis$ F. in alcohol administered mice. Prophylactic administration of different doses of MHE(20~100 mg/kg) had beneficial actions toward alcohol degradation in acute alcohol treated mice. In addition, intraperitoneal administration of the MHE showed anti-inflammatory effects in inhibition tests of vascular permeability produced by acetic acid. MHE also reduced the concentrations of nitric oxide(NO) and tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-${\alpha}$ in macrophages that were activated by LPS. These results demonstrate that MHE possesses the potential to stimulate alcohol degradation and inhibit inflammatory effects in mice.

Effect of Acanthopanax senticosus Extracts on Alcohol Degradation and Anti-Inflammatory Activity in Mice (가시오가피 추출물의 알코올 분해 및 항염증 효과)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of Acanthopanax senticosus extracts(ASE) on alcohol administered mice. The administration of Acanthopanax senticosus extracts(60 mg/kg) had beneficial actions toward alcohol degradation in acute alcohol treated mice. In the acute alcohol degradation experiment, serum alcohol concentration were lower 3 and 6 hours after taking ethanol(5 g/kg) in ASE treated mice. The oral administration of ASE showed decreased gastric mucous membrane damage produced in ethanol treated mice. In addition, intraperitoneal(i.p.) administration of ASE showed antiinflammatory effects in inhibition tests of vascular permeability produced by acetic acid. ASE also reduced concentrations of nitric oxide(NO), tumor necrosis alpha(TNF)-${\alpha}$ and interleukin(IL)-6 in macrophages that were activated by LPS. These results demonstrate that Acanthopanax senticosus extracts possesses the potential to stimulate alcohol degradation and inhibit inflammatory effects in mice.

Alcohol Metabolizing Activity of Fermented Sea Tangle Juice (Lactobacillilus brevis를 이용한 다시마 발효물의 알코올 분해 활성)

  • Alcohol metabolizing activity of fermented sea tangle juice (FSYJ) using Lactobacillilus brevis BJ20 were evaluated by measuring relative alcohol dehydrogenease (ADH) and aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) activities. According to the results of MTI assay. the fermented sea tangle juice by Lactobacillilus brevis BJ20 appeared safe in the cytotocxity. The relative ADH activity of FSTJ showed 124% at 10 mg/mL, which increased with increasing concentration. The relative ALDH activity showed, however, insignificant difference (P>0.05) between concentrations of FSTJ up to 50 mg/mL. These results suggested that fermented sea tangle juice by L. brevis BJ20 could be used as a potential material for metabolizing alcohol.

  • Complex alkoxides were synthesized using metal alkoxide method and were then hydrolyzed to prepare the precursors using sol - gel method. Then, the precursors were calcined in order to make barium hexaaluminate. Factors affecting the material properties of the barium hexaaluminate precursors were studied and they are the kinds and amount of alcohols, and reaction time. In addition, in the course of hydrolysis, the effects of the amount of water, reaction temperature and aging time were also studied in terms of the specific surface area and average particle size of the barium hexaaluminates.

Production of Alcohol from Starch without Cooking (무증자(無蒸煮)전분법에 의한 알코올생산(生産))

  • Ethanol fermentation of chemically gelatinized starch and uncooked raw starch was nested with various starchy materials. Starches were gelatinized by 5.4% NaOH and neutralized by sulfuric acid. The patterns of $CO_2$ evolving and the ethanol yield for the chemically gelatinized starch resemble those obtained with thermally gelatinized starch. The alcoholic fermentation of raw starch was carried out by the simultanous saccharification-fermentation using a commercial glucoamylase and yeast. Ethanol yield from uncooked rice starch fermentation was highly comparable to that from cooked one. $CO_2$ evolving rates of the uncooked starches of corn, barley, tapioca and sweet potato were lower than those of the cooked starches. However, the final ethanol yields were similar or slightly lower, depending on the types of starch.
