  • In the present study, analyses of initial behavior of an air-launched projectile for varying initial conditions are performed by coupling computational fluid dynamics and 6 degrees of freedom calculations. Accuracy of the present numerical methods is validated by comparing the present result with the measured data. Launching safety analyses are carried out for various ejecting conditions by considering weight of the projectile and magnitude of front and rear ejector forces as the major parameters of initial behavior of the projectile. A response surface of the projectile launching safety is obtained in the range of the major parameters. In all the conditions of zero rear ejector force, unsafe launching behavior is observed. As the weight of the projectile decreases, the initial launching behavior becomes more unsafe.

  • The five main green tea catechin components such as (+)-catechin, (-)-epicatechin, (-)-epigallocatechin, (-)-epicatechin gallate, and (-)-epigallocatechin gallate were analyzed quantitatively from commercial green tea by HPLC. Amounts of catechins decreased in the following order : (+)-catechin > (-)-epigallocatechin gallate >(-)-epigallocatechin >(-)-epicatechin >(-)-epicatechin gallate. In this study, the stability of the following green tea catechins to pH in the range from 3 to 11 was studied using of ultraviolet spectroscopy : (+)-catechin, (-)-epicatechin, (-)-epicatechin gallate, and (-)-epigallocatechin gallate. This study demonstrated that green tea catechins were not stable at high pH and that the pH-, and time-dependent spectral alternatives were not reversible In conclusion, low pH is important to maintain the efficient utilization of green tea catechins.

  • Vehicle idle has become an increasing quality concern for automobile manufacturers because of its impact on customer satisfaction. As demand for better fuel economy increases, automobile manufacturers are continuously looking for any benefits from different driving conditions. Combustion variability in spark ignition engines was recognized that the stability of engine at idle is affected by the factors of fuel injection timing, ignition timing and air-fuel ratio. Therefore in this research, the results will be shown the effects of stability and the variations at idle according to fuel injection timing, ignition timing and air-fuel ratio as the basic parameters.

  • In this study, the structural stability of the railway level crossing system using rubber panel for high speed lines was investigated by applying the specification for wind load conditions (Train gust) of high speed train (300km/h and 360km/h). A finite element analysis using three-dimensional modeling was carried out by applying the field conditions that was installed with the complicated configuration of the rubber plate panel system. As a result of this study, the structural stability of the rubber plate panel system for high speed train gust was analytically verified.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of visual conditions on the static balance of stable and unstable surfaces. Thirty healthy adults participated in this study (13 men, 17 women). Visual conditions were set as vertical, horizontal, and diagonal. It was performed on the pad to measure the balance on the unstable support surface. Using the balance measuring instrument, the General Stability Index, Weight Distribution Index, and Weight Distribution was measured. Paired t-tests were used for ground-based comparisons and one-way ANOVAs were used for comparisons within the same ground. The general stability index showed a significant difference according to the horizontal and vertical line directions on the stable support surface(p<.05). According to the comparison between the grounds, the weight distribution index on the unstable support surface showed a significant difference(p<.05). Weight distribution showed significant differences between the left and right eyes on the support surface with the stable and the unstable horizontal visual condition(p<.05). In static balance training, vertical and diagonal visual direction conditions are predicted to be helpful for training.

  • This paper describes external and internal stability of reinforced earth wall using large-scale modular block and geogrid reinforcement. The evaluation for external and internal stability was conducted to analyze effect of wall height, reinforced soil (or backfill soils) and reinforcement strength. The external stability showed that the analysis cases were satisfied with design criteria, when the required minimum length and vertical spacing of reinforcement were 0.7H and 1m, respectively. The internal stability conformed that some cases were satisfied with design criteria in $25^{\circ}$ of internal friction angle of reinforced soil. Expecially, it will be applicable as wall structure considering a structural stability and economic efficiency based on evaluation of internal stability.

  • The stabilities of four limonoidal substances including azadirachtin A, azadirachtin B, deacetylsalannin and salannin were investigated both in controlled aquatic and soil conditions. The half-life of the total limonoid for neem extracts and its two commercial biopesticides was estimated 86.6-173 days in water under air, while degradation of the compounds was detected below 10% after eight weeks in deoxygenated water. The half-life in dry soil was estimated 43.3-57.7 days, and there was a similar degradation pattern with in aerobic water condition. In case of wet soil condition, the total bacteria of the soils ranged 6-8 log CFU/g soil for during the experiment, and the half-life of the total limonoid was 6.4-12.3 days. From the result, the fast limonoid degradation in wet soil environment was the result of both chemical oxidation and microbial degradation.

  • Long-term safety over millennia is the top priority consideration in the construction of disposal sites. However, ensuring the mechanical stability of deep geological repositories for spent fuel, a.k.a. radwaste, disposal during construction and operation is also crucial for safe operation of the repository. Imposing restrictions or limitations on tunnel support and lining materials such as shotcrete, concrete, grouting, which might compromise the sealing performance of backfill and buffer materials which are essential elements for the long-term safety of disposal sites, presents a highly challenging task for rock engineers and tunnelling experts. In this study, as part of an extensive exploration to aid in the proper selection of disposal sites, the anticipation of constructing a deep geological repository at a depth of 500 meters in an unknown state has been carried out. Through a review of 2D and 3D numerical analyses, the study aimed to explore the range of properties that ensure stability. Preliminary findings identified the potential range of rock properties that secure the stability of central and disposal tunnels, while the stability of the vertical tunnel network was confirmed through 3D analysis, outlining fundamental rock conditions necessary for the construction of disposal sites.

  • Effect of solution film processing conditions on the dimensional stability of TAC film which is used as protection film of liquid crystal display (LCD) has been studied under hot and humid environmental condition (65 $^{\circ}C$, 90%). In addition, the mechanical and optical property changes due to the dimensional instability were also investigated. It was found that the fast solvent evaporation due to the increasing of methylene chloride content in solvent mixtures and decreasing dope concentration caused the lowering of dimensional stability under hot and humid condition. This dimensional stability change also affected the mechanical and optical properties of TAC films as well.

  • The effects of ground water level, shear strength parameters of refuse, and geological condition of ground on the slope stability of uncontrolled waste landfill were studied. The Janbu method of slices based on the limit equilibrium method was used to calculate the minimum factor of safety with respect to slope stability of landfill. The analytical results showed that the factor of safety for a fully dried condition of landfill increased 2.4~2.8 times as great as that for a fully saturated condition of landfill. Under the condition of actual ground water level, the factor of safety linearly increased with increasing both cohesion and internal friction angle of refuse. Also, when the potential failure surface passed through the underlying layer, the factor of safety and shape of potential failure surface were found to depend on geological conditions of underlying layer.
