Applicability of Practical Reliability Analysis to Develop Fragility Curves for Levee (제방의 취약도 곡선 작성을 위한 실용적 신뢰성 해석의 적용성)

  • Developing a fragility curve for the levee requires calculating the probability of failure according to the water level for each failure mode. Since probabilistic analysis requires iterative analysis to account for variability in geotechnical parameters, the fragility curve development inevitably requires many iterative calculations. Therefore, approximate probabilistic analysis techniques are usually applied to reduce the amount of calculation in developing the levee fragility curve. However, their accuracy has not been determined clearly. This study calculated the failure probability of slope and piping failure mode for an actual levee through probabilistic methods, such as FOSM, PEM, and MCS. Then, the fragility curve of the levee according to the water level was developed. The results of the approximate methods: FOSM and PEM, were compared with those of MCS to evaluate the applicability to the fragility curve for slope and piping failure mode.

  • The differential quadrature method (DQM) for a system of coupled differential equations governing the elastic stability of thin-walled curved members is presented, and is applied to computation of the eigenvalues of out-of-plane buckling of curved beams subjected to uniformly distributed radial loads including a warping contribution. Critical loads with warping, which were found to be significant, are calculated for a single-span wide-flange beam with various end conditions, opening angles, and stiffness parameters. The results are compared with the exact methods available. New results are given for the case of both ends clamped and clamped-simply supported ends without comparison since no data are available The differential quadrature method gives good accuracy and stability compared with previous theoretical results.

  • Usually the seismic stability analysis of slope uses the pseudostatic analysis considering the inertial force by the earthquake as a static load. Geostructures such as slope include the uncertainty of soil properties. Therefore, it is necessary to consider probabilistic method for stability analysis. In this study, the probabilistic stability analysis of slope considering the uncertainty of soil properties has been performed. The fragility curve that represents the probability of exceeding limit state of slope as a function of the ground motion has been established. The Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) has been implemented to perform the probabilistic stability analysis of slope with pseudostatic analysis. A procedure to develop the fragility curve by the pseudostatic horizontal acceleration has been presented by calculating the probability of failure based on the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) based response surface technique that reduces the required time of MCS. The results showed that the proposed method can get the fragility curve that is similar to the direct MCS-based fragility curve, and can be efficiently used to reduce the analysis time.

  • We studied the time-dependent behaviors of rock and concrete materials by conducting the static and dynamic long-term strength tests. In particular, acoustic emission(AE) signals generated while the tests were analyzed and used for the long-term stability evaluation. In the static subcritical crack growth test, the long-term behavior and AE characteristics of Mode I and Mode II were investigated. In the dynamic long-term strength test, the fatigue limit and characteristics of generation of AE were analyzed through cyclic four points bending test. The graph of the cumulative AE hits versus time showed a shape similar to that of the creep curve with the first, second and third stages. The possibility for evaluating the static and dynamic long-term stability of rock and concrete is presented from the log - log relationship between the slope of the secondary stage of cumulative AE hits curve and the delayed failure time.

  • In this study, probabilistic steady seepage behavior of soil foundation beneath water retaining structures according to the location of cutoffs was studied. A Monte Carlo Simulation based on the random finite element method that considers the uncertainty and spatial variability of soil permeability was performed to evaluate the probabilistic seepage behavior. Fragility curves were developed by calculating the failure probability conditional on the occurrence of a given water level from the probability distribution obtained from Monte Carlo simulations. The fragility curve was prepared for the flow quantities such as flow rate through foundation soil, uplift force on the base of structure, and exit gradient in downstream to examine the reliability of the water retaining structure and the foundation soil. From the fragility curves, the effect of the location of cutoff wall on the reliability of water retaining structure and foundation soil according to the rise in water level was studied.

  • This study was performed to establish valid methodology for determining dynamic stability(DS) of deformation-cycle curve which is obtained through wheel tracking(WT) test, the most widely used method for forecast of rutting tendency of asphalt mixture. Existing Korean and Japanese methods for DS are unrealistic and do not really reflect characteristics of rut resistance of asphalt concretes especially when the slope of deformation-cycle curve is stabilized at the end. It was proved that the new DS developed in this study reflected rut resistance characteristics better than existing methods. It is especially effective to distinguish the mixtures with high DR(depth of rut) but stable slope at the end of curve from the mixture with lower DR and continuous slope. The field evaluation must be followed to prove whether the mixture which shows a high DS value this method perform well in the filed.

  • for shortening of running time on existing line, speed up railways feel strongly the necessity of it, for fully realizing a role of transportation system, for human life style is high. and increasing of time value. Especially curved lines zone have crucial effects on the speed of train, in case the shortening of running time, it is thought, speed up in curved lines zone, considering a character of route alignment in korea, we obtain saving time using lateral force index for safety running of train and comfortable ride of passengers. The results of this study show that all curved zone improvements for the shortening of the train running time more efficiently than extension of transition curve.

Nanoindentation 분석을 통한 W-C-N 박막의 열적 안정성 연구

  • 반도체 집적도의 비약적인 발전으로 각 박막 층간의 두께는 더욱 줄어들었고 이는 각 박막 층간의 확산에 대한 문제를 간과할 수 없게 하였다. 따라서 각 층간의 확산을 방지하기위한 확산방지막의 연구에 대한 관심도는 증가하게 되었다. 또한 본 연구에서 분석을 위하여 사용된 Nanoindenter는 박막 표면에 다이아몬드 팁을 이용하여 압입을 실시하여 이때 시표의 반응에 의한 팁의 위치(Z-축)를 in-situ로 측정하여 인가력과 팁의 위치에 대한 연속 압입곡선을 측정하게 된다. 이를 통하여 박막의 hardness와 elastin modulus를 측정하게 되고, 연속 압입곡선 분석을 통하여 박막의 표면응력 변화를 측정한다. 이 논문에서는 반도체의 기판으로 사용되는 Si 기판과 금속배선 물질인 Cu와의 확산을 효과적으로 방지하기 위한 W-C-N 확산방지막을 제시하였고, 시료 증착을 위하여 rf magnetron sputter를 사용하여 동일한 증착 조건에서 질소(N)의 비율을 다르게 하여 박막내 질소 비율에 따른 확산방지막을 제작하였다. 이후 시료의 열적 안정성 측정을 위하여 상온에서 $900^{\circ}C$ 까지 질소 분위기에서 30분간 열처리 과정을 실시하여 열적 손상을 인가하였고, 고온에서 확산방지막의 열적인 안정성을 Nanoindentation 분석을 이용하여 측정하였다. 측정 결과 박막내 질소 불포함된 박막의 경우 표면 강도는 9.01 GPa에서 194.01 GPa의 급격한 변화를 보였고, 질소가 포함된 박막은 9.41 GPa에서 43.01 GPa으로 상대적으로 적은 차이를 보였다. X-ray 분석 결과에서도 박막내 질소가 포함된 박막이 고온에서도 더 안정된 특성을 보이는 것을 확인하였다.

Evaluation of Running Safety and Ride Comfort for High Speed Train in Cases of Superimposition of Vertical and Horizontal Curves (종곡선과 평면곡선의 경합조건별 차량주행안전성 및 승차감 평가)

  • In railway construction, superimposition of horizontal and vertical curves has critical effects on the running stability and the ride comfort of vehicles as well as on construction costs. In this study, running safety, ride comfort, and track acting forces were analyzed by a numerical analysis using the VAMPIRE program according to cases of superimposition of vertical and horizontal curves. From the analysis results, it was found that running safety, riding comfort, and track acting forces in the case of superimposition of vertical and horizontal curves as well as vertical and transition curves meet all of the criteria. Also, in the case of the superimposition of vertical curves and curvature change between horizontal transition curves and circular curves meet all of the criteria.

Influence of Lateral Ballast Resistance on the Buckling Fragility Curve of the Continuous Welded Rail Tracks (장대레일 궤도의 좌굴 취약도 곡선에 대한 도상횡저항력의 영향)

  • 기존 장대레일 궤도의 안정성 평가는 궤도 매개변수에 대하여 고정된 안전측의 값을 사용하는 결정론적인 해석에 의존해서 평가되어져 왔다. 그러나 실제현장의 궤도조건은 많은 영향인자들에 의해 그 특성이 불확실하게 변하고 있다. 따라서 온도하중에 의한 궤도 좌굴에 영향을 미치는 궤도 구성인자들의 불확실성 및 임의성을 보다 합리적으로 고려하기 위해서 확률론적 기법을 적용하는 것이 필수적이다. 본 연구에서는 기존 본 연구진에 의해 개발된 장대레일 궤도의 좌굴확률 평가시스템을 이용하여 좌굴 취약도 곡선을 나타내었으며, 궤도 좌굴에 영향을 미치는 주요변수 중 하나인 도상횡저항력에 대한 영향을 분석하였다. 좌굴확률 평가시스템에서는 장대레일 궤도의 좌굴확률을 산정하기 위하여 구조물의 안정과 파괴를 판단할 수 있는 기준을 한계상태방정식으로 표현하고, 이 한계상태방정식으로부터 확률론적 기법 중 하나인 AFOSM(Advanced First Order Second Moment) 방법을 이용하여 파괴확률의 간접적인 지표인 신뢰도지수(${\beta}$)를 통해 좌굴확률을 계산한다. 한계상태방정식에서 구조물의 강도(보유성능)에 해당하는 부분은 궤도의 허용좌굴온도이고, 하중(요구성능)에 해당하는 부분은 레일온도하중으로써 현재 레일온도와 중립온도의 차로 반영된다. 허용좌굴온도 산정에 고려되는 주요변수는 곡선반경(Radius), 도상횡저항력(Lateral Ballast Resista nce), 연직도상강성(Vertical Ballast Stiffness), 궤도 틀림량(Misalignment), 틀림길이(Half Wave Length), 열차운행속도(Velocity)이다. 각 확률변수들이 갖는 확률분포는 모두 정규분포로 가정하였다. 궤도의 기하학적 특성은 곡선반경 5,000m에 대해 고려하였으며, 열차는 KTX의 제원을 사용하여 정지된 상태에서 고려하였다. 틀림량과 틀림길이는 이에 대한 통계적 특성자료가 부족하여 확률변수로 고려하지 않고 결정론적 값으로 취급하였다. 레일온도의 통계적 특성치는 본 연구진에 의해 구축된 기후요소 및 레일온도 DB를 근거로 결정하였으며, 중립온도는 선로관리지침에 따라 $25{\pm}3^{\circ}C$를 기준으로 결정하였다. 또한 도상횡저항력은 실측 데이터를 참고로 하여 평균값에서 10%의 변동량을 갖는 것으로 보고 통계적 특성치를 결정하였다. 도상횡저항력이 좌굴확률에 미치는 영향을 매우 큰 것을 알 수 있었으며, 레일온도 $60^{\circ}C$일 때 도상횡저항력이 증가하면서 감소되는 좌굴확률이 도상저항력이 커질수록 그 감소량이 작아지는 것을 알 수 있었다.
