  • 본 연구에서는 공단에서 발생하는 악취물질을 냄새센서를 이용하여 상시 감시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 현재 다종다양한 냄새를 측정하기 위한 악취평가 방법으로는 관능측정법이 이용되고 있다. 그러나 이 방법은 악취판정원의 냄새세기의 차이와 판정원(panel)의 생체리듬에 따른 차이로 인하여 냄새의 객관적인 평가에 무리가 따르며, 언제, 어디서 돌발적으로 발생하는 악취의 연속적인 감시에 문제점을 나타내고 있다. 더욱이 우리나라는 환경 악취에 대해 직접관능측정법에 의한 악취 측정이 실시 되고 있어서 객관적으로 악취평가를 하기가 매우 곤란하다.   • Maintenance systems are demanded to manage malodor-information and deal effectively with the odor-related civil complaints by constructing the database for sources of malodor compounds in real time. In this paper, to carry out these tasks, a real-time monitering system for malodor based on ubiquitous sensor networks(USN) is presented. The constructed monitering system stores the malodor data collected periodically from industrial complex into the database and shows in real time the circumstances of the odor sources being emitted around the industrial complex by indicating on the map where it is taking place. Besides, by clicking an icon indicating the sensor node on the map, we can figure out what firms are located near the malodor source and possible material related with those firms. The proposed system is considered to enhance the efficiency of management of malodor-emitting firms based on the malodor-related information.

  • 감각적인 불쾌감을 야기하는 악취물질의 종류는 다양하며, 매우 낮은 농도에서도 감각기관을 자극할 뿐 아니라 물질간 반응이 복잡한 특징을 갖고있어 화학성분분석법과 함께 감각적인 자극수준을 평가하는 관능측정법을 병행하여 악취현상을 종합적으로 평가하게 된다 특히 매립지 등의 환경기초시설이 운영됨에 따라 나타나는 악취현상을 객관적으로 평가하기 위해서는 대기확산모델의 운영이 필요하며, 이를 위한 악취배출량 자료의 구축이 필요하게 된다. (중략)

  • Maintenance of an optimal air quality in the enclosed pig building is potentially important in terms of pig performance and farmer health. The objective of this on-site experiment is to evaluate and compare efficiencies of currently utilized biological additives to reduce odor emissions from the enclosed pig building. As a result, generally all the additives except for salt water, artificial spice and essential oil were proved ineffective in reducing odor generation. The beneficial effects of salt water, artificial spice and essential oil on odor reduction were highlighted on ammonia, odor intensity and offensiveness, and sulfuric odorous compounds, respectively. To efficiently utilize odor masking agent such as the artificial spice, ventilation rate should keep slightly lower than the optimal level. Essential oil functioned well as not only masking agent but also antimicrobial agent for reducing odor. To precisely quantify odor concentration, it should be measured by not the odor sensor but the olfactometry technique.

  • The people around industrial complexes and polluted areas suffer from the many occurrences of odors, and frequently issue a request for solving the odors to their local government in charge of those areas. Recently local governments whose regions have a number of such areas have a great interest in monitoring odor occurrences and gathering air on demand. This paper proposes a system in which a user can perform real-time monitoring the values of odor and atmospheric sensors, and the management of odor sensing devices using the Internet browser. Compared to previous systems, the system has an advantage of providing the functions for controlling and managing a number of devices irregardless of the location of the user. Also, the system is built around a blackboard-based multi-process architecture, enabling the easy incorporation of a new software model to be found useful. To our experiment, users showed great satisfactions in terms of the easiness of use. Our system has been installed and operated in an area of a local government in which odors are likely to occur.

The Study on the Realtime Evaluation of NH3 Absorption Efficiency Using Chemical Gas Sensor (가스센서를 활용한 암모니아 가스의 실시간 흡수 효율 평가에 관한 연구)

  • This study was carried out to develop the realtime evaluation system of $NH_3$ absorption efficiency with gas sensors which were installed on the inlet and outlet of lab-scale scrubber system. The $NH_3$ absorption amount, calculated by sensor outcomes for 3 hr, 6 hr, and 12 hr of absorption process, was compared with the results analysed by Indo-phenol method for the absorption solution. Even though the difference between two methods was about 20%, the correlation coefficient between the two results was very high, more than 0.99. In addition, we could find very good correlation between pH, absorption amount and reaction time. Also we could find out the breakthrough time in the middle of absorption process. With more diverse experiment in the future, we can make gas sensor system for the realtime evaluation of the odor and/or air pollution treatment efficiency.

The Design and Implementation of a Real-Time FMD Cattle Burial Sites Monitoring System Based-on Wireless Environmental Sensors (u-EMS : 센서네트워크 기반의 가축매몰지 악취환경정보 실시간 모니터링 시스템 설계 및 구현)

  • Recent outbreak of cattle diseases such as foot-and-mouth disease(FMD) requires constant monitoring of burial sites of mass cull of cattles. However, current monitoring system takes environmental samples from burial sites with period of between one and two weeks, which makes it impossible for non-stop management of hazardous bio-waste. Therefore, in this study, we suggest an improved real-time environmental monitoring system for such bio-hazardous sites based on wireless sensor networks, which makes constant surveillance of the FMD burial sites possible. The system consists mainly several wireless environmental monitoring sensors(i.e dust, Co2, VOC, NH3, H2S, temperature, humidity) nodes and GPS location tracking nodes. Through analysis of the relayed of the environmental monitoring data via gateway, the system makes it possible for constant monitoring and quick response for emergency situation of the burial sites. In order to test the effectiveness of the system, we have installed a set of sensor to gas outlets of the burial sites, then collected and analyzed measured bio-sensing data. We have conducted simulated emergency test runs and was able to detect and monitor the foul smell constantly. With our study, we confirm that the preventive measures and quick response of bio environmental accident are possible with the help of a real-time environmental monitoring system.
