Purpose: This study aimed to identify the factors influencing nursing students' intentions to report child abuse. Methods: The participants of this study were 151 nursing students who were currently enrolled in nursing departments in Korea and who were at least 18 years of age or older. This study used a descriptive cross-sectional design, and the data were collected from February 16, to March 13, 2023, using an online self-administered survey. The questionnaire included general characteristics, empathy ability, child rights recognition, child abuse perception, and intention to report child abuse. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, an independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffé test, and multiple regression analysis using SPSS Statistics 29.0. Results: The intention to report child abuse showed statistically significant positive correlations with empathy ability (r=.23, p<.001), child rights recognition (r=.34, p<.001), and child abuse perception (r=.63, p<.001). In the multiple regression analysis, the factors significantly related to nursing students' intention to report child abuse were as follows: awareness of mandatory reporting (yes) (β=.16, p=.021) and child abuse perception (β=.56, p<.001). The explanatory power of these factors was 45.0% (F=20.03, p<.001). Conclusion: Considering the findings of this study, it is necessary to develop and implement educational programs for improving the perception of child abuse and thus enhancing nursing students' intention to report child abuse.

This study examine the effects of exposure to family violence on adolescent's school violence toward peers and whether attitude toward school violence mediate in the process to provide theoretical basis for prevention and treatment for the problems of adolescent who exposed to child abuse and interparental violence. Total 1140 adolescent answered were collected from and grade in middle school students to and grade in high school students in Seoul and Kyung-gi. Frequency analysis was done to assess the actual condition of school violence, child abuse, interparental violence, attitude toward school violence. Structural equation modeling was used to examine the effects of exposure to family violence on adolescent's school violence and the mediating role of attitude toward school violence in the process. The results of this study are: (1) exposure of child abuse have strong positive influences on adolescent's school violence, (2) attitude toward school violence mediate family violence and school violence.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the Nurses' perception of child abuse, effectiveness of reporting, and barriers to reporting. Method: We surveyed 155 nurses at a University Hospital by using convenience sampling. The perception of child abuse, effectiveness of reporting, and barriers to reporting were measured using structured questionnaires. Data analysis was performed using SPSS WIN 21.0 program. Results: In nurses' perception of child abuse, the perception of physical abuse was higher than that of others - such as neglect, sexual abuse, and emotional abuse. Among nurses, the perception of child abuse was different according to age, material status, children, nurse career, education level, religion, experience of education, and perception of mandated reporter. The results showed a significant correlation between the perception on child abuse and perception on the effectiveness of reporting, as well as between perception on the effectiveness of reporting and perception on barriers to reporting. Conclusion: Based on the findings of this study, it is suggested to develop education programs and guidelines to help nurses to make appropriate decisions for the proper professional intervention when a child abuse case is suspected.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate perceptions of child abuse and factors influencing those perceptions among nursing students. Methods: A descriptive research design was used with a convenience sample of 669 nursing students. Data was collected from September 1 to 25, 2016 using self-report questionnaires and analyzed with descriptive statistics, the t-test, analysis of variance, the Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis in SPSS for Windows version 21.0. Results: The mean score for perceptions of child abuse was $3.52{\pm}0.41$, and the scores by subcategory were as follows: physical abuse, $3.61{\pm}0.39$; emotional abuse, $3.54{\pm}0.53$; neglect, $3.17{\pm}0.69$; sexual abuse, $3.85{\pm}0.35$. A significant correlation was found between perceptions of child abuse and parental acceptance-rejection attitude (warmth/affection, indifference/neglect, undifferentiated rejection). The factors influencing perceptions of child abuse were gender, experiences of child abuse, and perceived parental attitudes of warmth/affection and undifferentiated rejection, which explained 5.1% of the variances. Conclusion: Based on the finding of this study, educational programs and guidelines should be developed to help nursing students improve their perceptions of child abuse.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate nurses' perceptions on child abuse. Methods: In this cross-sectional descriptive study, data were collected using a questionnaire and 217 nurses working in seven general hospitals were surveyed. The perception scale was divided into 4 subscales: physical, psychological, sexual abuse and neglect. Results: Nurses who suspected child abuse accounted for 18.1% of the nurses, and 41.9% of the nurses stated that they did not to report suspected child abuse. The nurses reported receiving only a little education about the prevention of child abuse. The mean score for perception on child abuse was high ($3.59{\pm}0.31$). Recognition of sexual abuse ranked highest, psychological abuse ranked lowest. Conclusion: The findings from this research provide baseline information for understanding nurses' perceptions on child abuse, and may help in the development of appropriate education programs that will enable nurses to report child abuse.

Animation is a popular art in the form of enlightenment that intimately approaches people of various ages and makes them reconsider the social problems they have ignored. Therefore, this paper analyzes how the character setting and formative symbolism in "The Willoughbys" raise awareness of social agendas. The previous studies found that the modern society needs to be aware of child abuse and various types of family, and examined that color and formativeness of animation induce psychological and behavior change from the audience. The work shows emotional abuse and neglect as characters, and presents the subdivided form of the family. The rainbow symbolizes diverse family members. The agents with visual characteristics express the modern principle-based secondary perpetrator along with apathetic neighbors to urge a change in audience perception. This paper insists the value of animation when it is essential to raise public awareness prior to the construction of a welfare society and support system.

Objectives: This study aimed to enhance the role of dental hygienists by identifying perceptions of child abuse, attitude towards reporting obligations, and awareness of the reporting system, and providing basic data for early detection and reporting of child abuse reporting obligations. Methods: From 2021-06-20 to 2021-09-09, 156 dental hygienists working at dental clinics and hospitals in Gwangju and Jeollanam-do were surveyed. Statistical analyses were performed using t-tests, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation analysis. Results: The points for awareness of child abuse, obligatory reporting attitude, and awareness of mandatory reporting system were found to be 3.52, 3.01, and 2.30, respectively. A significant positive correlation was observed between the negative attitude to report child abuse (r=0.332, p<0.01) and the perception of the mandatory reporting system (r=0.343, p<0.01). Conclusions: This study confirmed that various educational programs and research are needed for the early detection and reporting of child abuse by dental hygienists.

Objectives: To confirm the awareness of child abuse and attitudes toward mandatory reporting among dental hygiene students in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions. Methods: The level of awareness of child abuse according to general characteristics, attitudes toward reporting obligation, and awareness of the mandatory reporting system were analyzed using t-test or one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) analysis, and correlation was analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient. Results: Awareness of child abuse was 3.76, 3.68, 3.67, and 3.18 points for neglect, sexual abuse, physical, and emotional abuse, respectively. The attitude toward reporting obligation were 3.60 and 2.62 points for positive and negative reporting attitudes, respectively. Regarding awareness of child abuse, a significant positive correlation was observed between positive reporting attitude (r=0.326, p<0.01) and awareness of mandatory reporting system (r=0.272, p<0.01). Conclusions: To increase the reporting rate among dental hygienists, awareness should be improved starting from the undergraduate level, perceptions of prospective dental hygienists should be reflected in the development and direction of educational programs, and it is necessary to increase accessibility to educational opportunities and continuously seek institutional and policy measures.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate child abuse awareness and reporting intention among nursing and education students and correlations among the variables involved. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted by administering an online questionnaire to 70 nursing college students and 70 education college students. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, chi-squared test, the Mann-Whitney U test, and Pearson's correlation in SPSS 21.0 (IBM, Armonk, NY). Results: The mean score of child abuse awareness was $3.61{\pm}0.32$ for nursing students and $3.60{\pm}0.36$ for education students. The mean score of reporting intention was $5.65{\pm}0.90$ for nursing students and $5.38{\pm}1.03$ for education students. Females presented higher scores than males in the awareness of sexual abuse. The awareness of emotional abuse was higher in students who knew of reporting obligations or who had experienced abuse. Child abuse awareness and reporting intention were significantly positively correlated. Also, the number of times having received child abuse education was correlated with reporting intention in both mild and severe cases of abuse. Conclusion: Reporting intention is not only related to having received education, but also to the frequency of that education. Child abuse education is important to increase reporting intention and should be delivered repeatedly.

Purpose : The act of reporting child abuse by people obliged to report child abuse is a way to detect long-term incidents of child abuse in early stages and to prevent a vicious cycle of social crimes. Thus, this study intends to enhance the reporting of child abuse through a study on the perception of people obliged to report child abuse through the public service announcement on child abuse. Methods : First, in order to identify the demographic characteristics of the subjects, the frequency and percentage were calculated. Second, in order to verify the reliability of the variables, Cronbach ${\alpha}$ was calculated. Third, in order to examine the perception of people obliged to report child abuse and the perception of reporting, a t-test (verification) and One-way ANOVA were conducted. Fourth, in order to identify the relationship between variables, a Correlation analysis was conducted. Result : The results show that people obliged to report child abuse did not perceive the public service announcement on child abuse positively and it varied depending on their jobs. The correlation between the public service announcement on child abuse and sub-factor of perceptions of reporting showed that a positive correlation was found in reliability, interest, understanding, perceiving the public service announcement on child abuse, perceiving severity and effectiveness, whereas a negative correlation was found in perceiving hazards. Conclusion : The education for preventing child abuse is required by the job type of people obliged to report. It is necessary to convey the message of effective public service announcement. The public service announcements on child abuse must be nationwide and long-term projects.
