Collision Performance Improvement in Orthogonal Code Hopping Multiplexing Systems Using Multiple Antennas (다중 안테나를 이용한 직교 부호 도약 다중화 시스템의 성능향상)

  • An orthogonal code hopping multiplexing (OCHM) technique has been proposed for accommodating a large number of users with low channel activities than the number of orthogonal codewords through statistical multiplexing in downlink cellular systems. In this paper, a multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antenna based OCHM system is proposed to improve the performance. Each modulated symbol is repeated N times and the N repeated symbols are transmitted simultaneously using N transmit antennas. Through repetitions, the effect of perforations that the OCHM system experiences is decentralized among the repeated symbols and the full perforation probability is significantly reduced. Each receiver detect the transmitted signal using its pre-assigned code hopping pattern. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme saves the required energy for a given frame error rate (FER).

  • Hand posture recognition is an important technique to enable a natural and familiar interface in HCI(human computer interaction) field. In this paper, we introduce a hand posture recognition method by using a depth camera. Moreover, the hand posture recognition method is incorporated with MPEG-U based advanced user interaction (AUI) interface system, which can provide a natural interface with a variety of devices. The proposed method initially detects positions and lengths of all fingers opened and then it recognizes hand posture from pose of one or two hands and the number of fingers folded when user takes a gesture representing a pattern of AUI data format specified in the MPEG-U part 2. The AUI interface system represents user's hand posture as compliant MPEG-U schema structure. Experimental results show performance of the hand posture recognition and it is verified that the AUI interface system is compatible with the MPEG-U standard.

  • In discrete multi-tone (DMT)-based very high bit-rate digital subscriber line (VDSL) systems, the ingressed RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) accompanied by transmitted signal at the receiver is known to cause the spectralleakage by the finite-point FFT, resulting in significant performance degradation.0 this paper, we propose a RFIcancellation technique which can compensate the ingressed RFI efficiently, especially for a high data-rate VDSLsystem. The proposed technique compensates the performance degradation of e VDSL system due to RFI byusing a time-domain RFI canceller whose coefficients are obtained from the estimated center frequency of RFI inthe frequency domain under the assumption that the ingressed RFI is a narrow-band signal compared to VDSLsampling frequency. The proposed technique requires no training symbol and convergence period, and worksproperly even when spectral shape of the ingressed RFI is unknown or arbitrary. Feasibility of the proposedtechnique is demonstrated via a computer simulation by comparing its performance with the performance of theprevious RFI cancellation technique.

  • This paper presents an adaptive beamforming algorithm for an MC-CDMA system with an adaptive array antenna. By employing an antenna array at the receiver of an MC-CDMA system, the performance of an MC-CDMA system, which is known to be effective for high data rate transmission due to its robustness to multipath fading and its simplicity for using a simple one-tap equalizer, is shown to be significantly improved. The proposed algorithm for adaptive beanforming in an MC-CDMA system is derived by (1) calculating the error signals between the pilot symbols of desired user and the received pilot signals in frequency domain, (2) transforming the frequency-domain error signals into time-domain error signals, (3) updating the filter coefficients of the adaptive beamformer in the direction of minimizing the MSE. Convergence behavior and performance improvement of the proposed approach are demonstrated through computer simulation by applying it to the conventional MC-CDMA system.

  • We propose an ATI (Adaptive Tone Injection) scheme based on clipping noise for PAPR (Peak-to-Average Power Ratio) reduction of OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) signals. The proposed scheme is composed of three steps: clipping, tone selection, and TI procedures. In the first step, the peak samples in the IFFT (Inverse Fast Fourier Transform) outputs are scaled down by clipping. In the second step, the sub-carrier position where the power of the clipping noise is the maximum, is selected. Finally, the generic TI procedure is performed. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme does not require all the possible combinations of the original TI procedures, while maintaining the PAPR reduction performance.

  • In this paper, we propose a new quasi-orthogonal space-time block code(QO-STBC) achieving full rate and full diversity for general QAM and quasi-static Rayleigh fading channels with four transmit antennas. This code possesses the quasi orthogonal property like the conventional minimum decoding complexity QO-STBC(MDC-QO-STBC), which allows independently a maximum likelihood(ML) decoding to only require joint detection of two real symbols. By computer simulation results, we show that the proposed code exhibits the identical BER performance with the existing MDC-QO-STBC. However, the proposed code has an advantage in the transceiver implementation since the original coding scheme may be modified so that increases of peak-to-average power ratio occur at only two transmit antennas, but the MDC-QO-STBC does at all of transmit antennas.

  • This paper describe a design of 5GHz OFDM baseband chip for IEEE 802.11a wireless LAN. The proposed device is consists of transmitter and receiver within a single FPGA chip. We applied single tap equalizer that use Normalized LMS algorithm to remove ISI that happen at high speed data transmission. And also, we used carrier wave frequency offset algorithm that use training symbol to remove ICI. The simulation results show the correct transmission without errors the between transmitter and receiver And we can remarkably reduce the number of register through the synthesized circuits by using DSP block and EMB(Embedded Memory Block). The target device for implementation of the synthesized circuits is Altera Stratix EPIS25FC672 FPGA and design platform is VHDL.

  • A novel protocol is proposed to achieve sub-carner-based rate adaptation in OFDM-based wireless systems. The protocol requires the addition of one OFDM symbol to the Clear-to-Send (CTS) packet defined in the IEEE 802.11 standard_ When receiving a Ready-To-Send (RTS) packet, the receiver determines the number of bits to be allocated in each sub-carrier through channel estimation. This decision is delivered to the sender using an additional OFDM symbol. That is, bit-allocation over sub-carriers is achieved using only one additional OFDM symbol. The protocol also provides an error recovery process to synchronize the bit-allocation information between the sender and receiver. The protocol enhances the channel efficiency in spite of the overhead of one additional OFDM symbol.

  • In this paper, a subblock partition scheme for reduction of computational complexity in partial transmit sequence which reduces the peak-to-average power ratio in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is proposed. In this scheme, complex signals are assigned into partial subbands randomly and signals in a partial subband are duplicated and concatenated repetitively to make a subblock. By modulation of active subbands which have almost interleaved pattern, computational complexity can be reduced. As results of computer simulation, the proposed shows almost same peak to average power ratio reduction performance as compared to the conventional one. However, computational complexity required to transmit a partial transmit sequence OFDM symbol has been reduced extensively.

  • In this paper, to eliminate intersymbol interference of the received signal due to multipath propagation, a parallel equalization algorithm using two error estimation functions is proposed. In the proposed algorithm, multilevel two-dimensional signals are considered as equivalent binary signals, then error signals are estimated using the sigmoid nonlinearity effective at the initial phase equalization and threshold nonlinearity with high steady-state performance. The two errors are scaled by a weight depending on the relative accuracy of the two error estimations, then two filters are updated differentially. As a result, the combined output of two filters was to be the optimum value, fast convergence at initial stage of equalization and low steady-state error level were achieved at the same time thanks to the combining effect of two operation modes smoothly. Usefulness of the proposed algorithm was verified and compared with the conventional method through computer simulations.
