A variety of sensory elements are used in video advertisements promoting products. Video advertising using visual and auditory elements is a representative means of marketing. The advertising video that promotes the product by using such a sensory element is imprinted on viewers by continuously or repeatedly exposing visual elements such as a logo or a specific image or phrase. Such visual images are used as an effective way to symbolize brand image effectively. If the visual elements were symbolized in the advertising images of most car brands, Kia's K5's advertising images symbolized auditory elements, or sounds, to produce K5's unique advertising images. In this paper, we compared Kia's K5 advertisement image symbolizing auditory elements with other brands' advertisement image of other companies, and studied the techniques and effects used in advertisement image production.

The cymbal transducer is a miniaturized version of the Class V flextensional transducer. It has low resonant frequency and high output pressure characteristics compared with its size. However, since it has high quality factor and low energy conversion efficiency as well, it is often used as an array rather than single. When used as an array, a big change in the frequency characteristics occurs in comparison with that of the single transducer due to the interaction between constituent transducers. In this study, we designed a pattern of cymbal array with a view to having broadband characteristics. Three transducers having different center frequencies were designed first. The designed cymbal transducers were used to construct all possible patterns of a 3 × 3 planar array. After analyzing frequency characteristics of these patterns, based on the results, we derived the most effective pattern to achieve a higher fractional bandwidth. The derived array pattern showed an improvement of the fractional bandwidth by 24.9 % in comparison with the reference model.

Korean biopharmaceutical industry is a high value-added industries of the country as a key business strategy of the country. The overseas market is accelerating rapidly due to drug demand according to population aging, new drug R&D investment performance visualization, changes in biopharmaceutical R&D center, strategic foreign technology exports, and the active support of government. Therefore, the domestic pharmaceutical companies also should enhance the competitiveness as global pharmaceutical companies and need to build the image of their own company that can be trusted by consumers. This study compared and analyzed visual characteristics shown in the CI symbol mark and age-specific preferences of domestic pharmaceutical companies recognizing the importance of CI as a marketing tool. As a result, preference for the symbol mark had been shown to be significantly higher preference of the old logotype as the age group is higher being proportional to awareness. In addition, the picture-type symbol mark was totally preferred rather than the word mark. Among the picture-type symbol mark, the form of the nature was strongly preferred rather than abstract form. The company also requires a sense of responsibility for recognizing changes in the mass to the globalization. It is hoped that this study will help to develop symbol mark direction as the basis for the identity strategies to improve the image of domestic pharmaceutical companies with global competitiveness.

South Korea is an aging society with 10.9 percent of its population over 65 years of age, and the aging population naturally leads to a surge in elderly care costs. Compared to general hospitals and other hospitals that have systematic management strategies in an environment of intensifying hospital competition, the design and management strategies of nursing hospitals are insufficient due to the hospital's characteristics of long-term hospital admission and treatment. In this study, We conducted a symbol mark color and form analysis of nursing hospitals to establish a design strategy to meet the increasing demand on nursing hospitals. The subjects of the study were 131 hospitals that received the first grade of nursing hospitals in Korea, and each symbol mark was collected to analyze its form and color. Analysis of the form of symbol revealed that the most anthropogenic symbols were made with artificial objects, and among them, the number of symbols with crosses, hearts and human forms were higher. The color analysis showed that more than 50% of symbols consisted of two colors and the main colors were blue and green. It is expected that this research data will be used as a reference in the design of the symbolism of nursing hospitals, which will help consumers choose and develop strategies for hospital management in order to compete with the ever-increasing demand of nursing hospitals and hospital competition.

This paper introduces symbols from Ghana, the 'Adinkra', and expands upon the concepts associated with it. In other words, the world view, values and scalability that appear to form philosophical thoughts in everyday life. 'Adinkra' are symbols from Ghana in West Africa. Adinkra means 'goodbye' or 'farewell'. There are some 400 Adinkra symbols, but the meanings of the symbols have been lost. The first book on Adinkra is 'The Adinkra Dictionary' (1998) by W. Bruce Willis. Adinkra is related to the Ghanaian culture, and represents concepts such as philosophical ideology, history, historical figures, myths, legends, animals, plants, etc. In the old days, because of its meaning-'goodbye' or 'farewell'-Adinkra was generally used for funerals. But today, Adinkra is utilized in a full range of cultural events and activities. Each of the 'Adinkra' has various meanings. According to Willis, Adinkra is ever-evolving and constantly expanding. As a matter of fact, Adinkra continues to expand, evolve and develop. Nevertheless, no books have been published on Adinkra since Bruce Willis (5 May 2016 to the present). Adinkra provides insights into the rich philosophical, educational, and historical significance of Africa. Therefore, Adinkra requires evolution, expansion, and research. In this study, we will examine the Adinkra, divided into four categories. The first is related to God and the powers, the second is related to moral education. The third symbolizes 'love' and 'friendship'. and lastly, the fourth is 'life' and 'death'.

The purpose of this study is to explore the performance characteristics and laws of the symbol mark design of representative regional history museums in China, as well as the preferences of Chinese audiences for the symbol marks of different types of Chinese regional history museums. First, the performance theme, performance type, and type performance tendency of symbol mark modeling of the regional history museums among the top 100 museums in China are analyzed. Second, design laws based on the interrelationship of performance theme types and design performance types are explored. Finally, the questionnaire survey is carried out to explore preference from the aspects of attention, readability, closeness, originality, aesthetics and comprehensiveness. According to the results, the theme of regional history is the most in terms of themes. As for the modeling performance types, the concrete type and the visualization of Chinese character are the most. According to the content characteristics of different performance types, the following model characteristics are formed: expressing the theme of regional history, architecture, and regional natural ecological environment through the concrete type, expressing the concept through the abstract type, and expressing the concept and implying some building features through the geometric abstract figure. The three forms of the literal type, the concrete type expressing architecture, regional history, and regional natural ecological environment theme content, and the abstract type expressing concept are combined with each other, and expressed through the visualization of character, the mixture of abstract and literal type, the mixture of concrete and abstract type, and the mixture of concrete and abstract literal type in the mixture type. According to the survey results, Chinese audiences have higher preference for the concrete type in the symbol mark performance type and the regional historical theme in the performance content.

본 논문에서는 수중 초음파 통신용 QPSK 버스트 수신기를 DSP시스템을 이용하여 구현하기위한 시스템 설계에 대하여 논한다. 본 논문에서 고려하는 시스템은 25kHz의 반송주파수를 사용하고, 심벌율은 5kHz이며, 데이터 전송율은 10,000bps이다. 송신기에서 심벌정보를 전송하기 위해 펄스성형필터를 거친 신호를 디지털 믹서기를 이용하여 디지털 영역에서 반송주파수 대역으로 신호를 변조한 후 200kHz로 샘플링하는 D/A변환기를 이용하여 전송 아날로그 신호를 생성한다. 수신기에서는 수신 신호를 디지털로 처리하기 위하여 100kHz로 free running하는 A/D 변환기를 이용하여 수신 데이터를 얻는다. 수신기에서는 32심벌 길이의 프리앰블을 이용하여 프레임 동기를 찾음과 동시에 개략적인 심벌시간 동기와 위상편이를 추정한다. 추정한 위상편이값은 2차 PLL (phase-looked loop)의 초기값으로 사용하여 위상 추적을 수행하는 전송 시스템이다. 또한, 된 논문에서는 실해역 전송 시험 테이터를 통하여 조류의 변화에 의해 발생하는 Doppler 편이를 보상하기 위하여 PLL이 필수적으로 필요함을 보인다.

In this paper, we proposed a burst mode symbol timing recovery unit that is applicable to the VDL Mode-2 using D8PSK modulation. A method that IIR loop filter is used to minimize symbol timing error is hard to apply to burst mode because its convergence time is long. That is, the fast convergence property is important. In this paper, the proposed method takes one sample which has maximum symbol power after the initial synchronization has been achieved by using preambles. The main principle of operation is that the unit moves one sample clock to advance or retard according to symbol power. We verify that the proposed method is operated well in ${\pm}100$ ppm or greater through the test results between Australia ADS Corp. transmitter and the designed receiver.

본 논문에서는 LMDS(Local Multipoint Distributed Services) 시스템의 역방향 채널에서 TDMA(Time Division Multiple Access) 방식으로 ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) 셀을 효율적으로 전송하기 위해 전치부호를 줄일 수 있는 블록복조 알고리즘을 적용한 $\pi$/4 QPSK 변복조 방식 시스템을 제안하고, 블록복조의 동기성능을 향상시키기 위해 새로운 반송파 동기회로를 설계하였다. 제안한 블록동기복조 알고리즘을 적용한 $\pi$/4 QPSK 변복조 방식 시스템은 LMDS 환경에서 ATM 셀 단위의 버스트 데이터로 반송파 위상동기, 심벌 타이밍 동기, 슬롯 타이밍 동기 둥을 수행할 때 전치부호를 아주 적게 사용하므로 효율적인 프레임 전송을 얻어질 수 있도록 하고 있다. 제안한 방식의 성능평가를 위한 모의실험은 LMDS 채널환경과 프레임 구조의 버스트 모드 전송환경에서 심벌 타이밍 동기, 주파수 오프셋, 반송파 위상동기, 페이딩 채널에 따라 수행하였다. 본 논문에서 제안한 블록동기복조 알고리즘을 적용한 $\pi$/40 QPSK 변복조 방식 시스템을 모의수행을 통하여 분석한 결과, 페이딩 환경에서 심벌 타이밍 동기, 주파수 오프셋, 반송파 위상동기할 때 전치부호를 아주 적게까지 줄이더라도 좋은 성능을 발휘함을 확인할 수 있었다.

In this paper, we propose a bandwidth-efficient channel coding scheme using the turbo trellis-coded modulation with multiple symbol detection. The turbo code can achieve good bit error rates (BER) at low SNR. That comprises two binary component codes and an interleaver. TCM codes combine modulation and coding by optimizing the euclidean distance between codewords. This can be decoded with the Viterbi or the symbol-by- symbol MAP algorithm. But we present the MAP algorithm with branch metrics of the Euclidean distance of the first phase difference as well as the Lth phase difference. The study shows that the turbo trellis-coded modulation with multiple symbol detection can improve the BER performance at the same SNR.
