  • This study aimed to verify the mediating effect of locus of control on the relationship between materialism and well-being of middle-aged woman. For the study, the survey of 239 middle-aged women in B, C, D city was used. As a scale, a Richins & Dawson(1992)'s widely-used materialism scale, the Levenson(1981)'s locus of scale, Watson, Clark & Tellegen(1988)'s positive and negative affect scale (PANAS) and Ryff(1989)'s psychological well-being scale(PWBS) were used. The survey data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, reliability, correlation and the mediating effect was verified by Baron & Kenny (1986)'s 3 step using SPSS 23 and sobel test. Mediating analysis indicated that the significant relationships between materialism and affective well-being and psychological well-being were reduced significantly when the external locus of control was statistically controlled. Results are meaningful with respect to overcome materialism of middle-aged woman and in the relation to other research that has explored reasons why materialism is related to lower level of affective well-being & psychological well-being.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between parental/parental attachment and career indecision among college students, and to examine the goodness of fit and influence of variables in a model that assumes that socially imposed perfectionism has an influence on the relationship between parental/parental attachment and career indecision. It's about verification. For this purpose, an online survey was conducted by randomly sampling 250 college students attending 4-year institutions across the country, and data analysis was conducted using a three-stage regression method using SPSS Win 25.0. The analysis results are as follows. First, psychological attachment to parents appears to have a negative effect on career indecision, confirming that the more a stable attachment relationship with parents is formed, the less difficulties in career decision-making. Second, the mediating effect of socially imposed perfectionism was confirmed in the relationship between psychological attachment to parents and career indecision. This shows that the more stable the psychological attachment to the father and mother is formed, the lower the level of socially imposed perfectionism and career indecision. Based on these research results, implications for career counseling practice and follow-up research were discussed.

  • Materialistic values can be a important variable to understand Koreans' psychological well-being and mental health. This study aimed to validate the Korean version of the Material Values Scale (K-MVS)(Richins & Dawson, 1992). In study 1, we performed confirmatory factor analysis(CFA) to ascertain the three factor model of the original MVS using 417 Korean undergraduate student data(sample 1). The CFA confirmed the three-factor model of the MVS. Yet, three items that yielded low factor loadings in this study as well as in other MVS validation studies were excluded from the final model. In study 2, content, construct, and concurrent validity of the K-MVS were examined with 650 undergraduate student data(Sample 2). We also tested measurement invariance across two groups(i.e., college student group of Sample 2 and employee group of Sample 3). The result revealed that the three-factor model of the K-MVS hold true across the two groups. Lastly test-retest reliability was calculated with 408 female college student data(Sample 4) that filled out K-MVS twice within 6 months. These findings suggest that the K-MVS is a reliable and valid measure for assessing materialistic values in Korea.

The Effect of Socially Prescribed Perfectionism of University Student to Depression: Focusing on the Mediating Effects of Intolerance of Uncertainty and Rumination, Reflective Response Style (대학생의 사회부과적 완벽주의가 우울에 미치는 영향: 불확실성에 대한 인내력 부족과 반추적, 반성적 반응양식의 매개효과)

  • This study was conducted to verify the effects of socially prescribed perfectionism on depression as mediated by intolerance of uncertainty and either ruminating or reflective response styles, on as will as to find ways to effectively address depression as it presents in university students. For this purpose, 283 university students at the central region were assesed using data collected from the following surveys: the Center for Epidemiological Studies-Depression Scale(CES-D), the Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale(HMPS), the Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale(IUS), and the Response to Depressed Mood Questionnaire(RDQ) and that were used to collect data. The results of this study are as follows. First, there was a positive correlation between the Intolerance of uncertainty and the rumination response style to the uncertainty of socially prescribed perfectionism, but not correlation the reflective response mode. Second, with respect to the relationship between socially prescribed perfectionism and depression, intolerance of uncertainty was set as the primary mediator variable and the rumination response style were set as the secondary mediator variables. The results shown to have a significant mediating effects. However this mediating effect was not significant when, in order to verify the mediating effect, we set the secondary mediator variable as the reflective response style. These results suggest that to prevent depression that manifests as socially prescribed perfectionism, it may be effective to intervene with a focus on the intolerance of uncertainty and the rumination response style. Finally, the implications and limitations of the study are discussed based on the results.

  • This study explored the influence of media use on the audiences' intention to vote as well as their political cynicism in 2012 General elections. I offered three research questions: Research Question 1: What is the impact of media use on the political cynicism? Research Question 2: What are the impact of political intersest, political knowledge, media malaise, political efficacy on the political cynicism? Research Question 3: What is the impact of political cynicism on vote behavior? This study analysed survey data. Based on the results of hierarchial regression analysis and path analysis(AMOS), Internet news use was found to have a significant impact on the political cynicism. But the use of newspaper, TV news were not related to political cynicism. The political efficacy decreased political cynicism effectively, The findings from this study indicate that the relationship between media use and political cynicism is contingent on many factors and that cynicism has a negligible impact on citizen participation. This study also found that persons higher in efficacy were less cynical than low in efficacy. This suggest that cynicism is not always bad thing, that it may in fact be an indication of "an interested and critical citizenry". In conclusion this study showed that we need more in-depth analyses on the relationships among attention to media use, political cynicism and voting behavior to activate political participation.

  • The psychologist Dessie said: excessive rewards may reduce an individual's interest in things and their intrinsic motivation. This is known as the Westerners effect. In this paper, we will examine the game from the point of view of humanism and the Westerners effect. Finally, three reasonable ways of reward are put forward. In the future, the research direction will use the theory of this paper to set the reward way after completing the task in the game. And give players a trial report on the emotional feedback in the finished game, and then continue to improve the theory of this article.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the relationship between psychological capital and job performance of social workers at welfare centers for the disabled. For that purpose, a self-reported questionnaire survey was conducted on 900 social workers at welfare center for the disabled nationwide, and a total of 864 copies of data were used for the final analysis. As a result of the main analysis, first, there was a positive(+) correlation between self-efficacy, hope, optimism, resilience which are the sub-elements of psychological capital, and contextuality and task performance, which are the sub-elements of job performance. Second, among the sub-elements of psychological capital, self-efficacy and hope showed statistically significant positive(+) effects on task performance. Third, it was found that optimism as well as self-efficacy and hope had a statistically significant positive(+) effect on contextual performance. Based on those findings, this study suggested practical and policy alternatives to improve the job performance of social workers at welfare centers for the disabled.

  • In this paper, we propose a psychological state estimation process that computes children's attention and tension in response to training stimuli. Joint attention was adopted as the training stimulus required for behavioral intervention, and the Discrete trial training (DTT) technique was applied as the training protocol. Three types of training stimulation contents are composed to check the user's attention and tension level and provided mounted on a character-shaped tabletop robot. Then, the gaze response to the user's training stimulus is estimated with the vision-based head pose recognition and geometrical calculation model, and the nervous system response is analyzed using the PPG and GSR bio-signals using heart rate variability(HRV) and histogram techniques. Through experiments using robots, it was confirmed that the psychological response of users to training contents on joint attention could be quantified.

  • Christian communities have long sought to find what type of moral judgment is appropriate and what the Christian behavior is, by taking the church's ethical norms and behavior patterns as objects of reflection. In the same context, Christian education also tried to base the psychological rationalism of J. Piaget and L. Kohlberg, but the reason-centered structural development theory was not the answer. In fact, the structural development theory, which emphasized autonomy while excluding emotions from the moral judgment process, over-emphasizing cognition or reason, eventually led to moral relativism, unlike what was intended. In addition, it was criticized for not being able to adequately elucidate the gap between human moral reasoning and behavior, and for attempting to interpret morality excessively within the context of social culture. Recently, these limitations of structural developmental theory have been reinterpreted by neuroethics, especially moral psychology theories, which claim that moral judgment ability is physically wired in the brain and relies heavily on networks between cortical and limbic system. The purpose of this paper is to review some of the newly emerged research themes of neuroethics, and then to discuss two main theories that explain morality in the perspective of neuroethics and the implications that Christian education should pay attention to.

  • A way to increase effectiveness of charitable donation ads is to activate or magnify emotional experiences (e.g., sympathy, empathy, psychological distress) among target audience. Past studies suggest that mental imagery and attention, which activate or magnify emotional experiences, can be influenced by verbal message attributes (i.e., message concreteness and valence) of charitable donation advertisements. Based on the previous research, the study built a conceptual framework for processing of charitable donation advertising: message concreteness and valence ${\rightarrow}$ mental imagery and attention ${\rightarrow}$ emotional experiences ${\rightarrow}$ donation intention. To verify the framework, the study investigated on the influence of message concreteness and valence on mental imagery and attention through assessing ERP responses. It also examined how message concreteness and valence have an effect on the intent to donate through measuring the amount of donation. The study revealed that concrete message activated mental imagery more than abstract message whereas negative message enhanced attentional level more than positive message. Compared to the other conditions, when the message was concrete and negative, the amount of donation was significantly large.
