Identification of Primary Activity and Management Plan for Construction Standard Unit Price (건설공사 표준시장단가 핵심공종 도출 및 중점관리방안)

  • The Construction Standard Unit Price (CSUP) sets the standard for calculating the estimated construction cost. The CSUP is used as basic data for preparing a standard price for public construction. Currently, the CSUP is calculated in consideration of the market and construction field conditions. However, a long-term management plan was established to prepare revised standards. As part of the plan, a field survey was conducted on changes in construction conditions and market prices. However, the plan continued for more than 5 years. Thus, the plan has a problem of difficulty continuously managing primary activities that have high importance and high price volatility. Therefore, to efficiently manage the CSUP, this study identifies the primary activities of the CSUP and presents a management plan. Through importance analysis and unit price volatility analysis, 242 primary activities in 35 activity groups were identified. Also, a management plan is presented based on the importance levels of activities. The primary activities and management plan could enable the timely revision of important activities. The results of this study provide a base for reflecting the appropriateness of construction cost criteria on time.

  • The Cost of Engineering is composed of the $3{\~}5{\%}$ of total cost of construction. It is important the role of engineering in the first stage of the business. But, it was not more the technical level of domestic design stage than advanced state. Expecially, it was because of the cognition lack and unreliable results about technical development. The result of that, it was lacking to the draw results of foreign countries. And it was to waste national budget through overlapped adopting of similar technologies from abroad that few projects are performed as their original plan. Therefore, the research is proposed to the intensification plan of technical competitive strength in domestic construction engineering company to cope with the change of economic environment.

  • Costs of public rental housing development project consist on various kinds of profits and expenses such as national housing fund, rental cost, construction cost, financing cost. Therefore, project would not be executed without minute management and precise prediction about each item. Cash (low prediction and analysis are necessary to grasp current situation of project, because construction project which is conducted for a long period has fluent risks and inflows and outflows of cash. Although cash flow analysis has been conducted, cash flow has never been expected and managed. General matters to expect cash flow can be known by actual results and literatures. Hut there is no thesis which is studied about risk to enhance precision of expectation of cash flow. As existing thesises studied the risk about whole project, we haven't known precise relations of cash flow and project. Therefore, in this study, we are supposed to analysis and distinguish risk facts which can affect each item of cash flow for precise cash flow expectation and management of public rental housing development project.

Application Techniques of 2D-Resistivity Structure for Estimation of Inferred Fracture Zone in Weathered Slope (풍화사면에서의 추정파쇄대 평가를 위한 2차원 전기비저항 구조도 적용 기법)

  • Electrical resistivity survey is applied for estimation of inferred fault and fractured zone in civil engineering and environment field. While 15 m diameter and 3 lines tunnels are excavated. It is recognized that core stone and fractured zone is existed in the weathered slope of the entrance to a tunnel. To make confirmation geological characteristics, dipole-dipole electric resistivity survey was carried out in weathered slope of the entrance to a tunnel. Core stone distribution and fracture zone characteristics are estimated by reverse analysis and 2D-resistivity structure using FDM.

  • Estimated project cost and executed sensitivity analysis for domestic 500 MW coal-fired power plants with monte carlo simulation. As a result of research, the basis of constant price in December, 2011 and 95% level of confidence, the project cost in case of not having adjacent power plant was 1,870 billion won to 2,330 billion won and the project cost in case of having adjacent power plant was 1,240 billion won to 1,590 billion won. In case of not having adjacent power plant is sensitive to civil construction cost but the other case is sensitive to material cost.

Satisfaction Level and Performance Evaluation for CM Service in Korea (국내 건설사업관리 업무만족도 및 성과평가)

  • The domestic CM business market has continued to grow, but its size is relatively small yet in comparison with the total size of the domestic construction industry. Evaluation of CM projects was conducted through questionnaire surveys. Both clients and CM firms showed positive satisfaction levels. Nevertheless, the clients' satisfaction levels were relatively low in safety management, cost management, and document and information management. Superior areas of CM tasks were time management and recovery scheduling, quality control and technical instruction, and design value engineering. On the other hand, inferior areas of CM tasks were claim analysis and dispute resolution, cost estimation, and life cycle costing. Both entities have agreed with the positive effects of CM involvement in terms of cost saving, time reduction, quality improvement, and safety incidents prevention to at least 0~5% extent.

  • Quantity takeoff and cost estimates in Korea are carried out in practice without any clear standards or standards. Especially, quantity takeoff of Reinforcing bar and BoQ documentation process is very complex using 2D drawings. In this study, 10 case sites were analyzed for the status of inefficient quantity takeoff and how the statement was prepared. In order to solve this problem, this study presented a method for calculating the quantity of rebars through the ratio of concrete volume for schools, offices, and apartment buildings, and analyzed the accuracy of results. In the future, it is expected that the error range can be reduced by defining the factors affecting the results and calculating the correction value for them.

  • It is critical to select the appropriate type of tower cranes for the construction of super tall buildings. However the selection is often made based on subjective personal experiences due to the lack of historical and analytical data. As a result, planning mistakes and efficiency errors sometimes occur. This research is to develop a system of hoisting analysis for appropriate tower crane selection and to provide a flexible statistical model based on the Burj Dubai project. In addition, this system hassupporting functions that can estimate the target construction period per floor, and a decision-making construction period computation method which is based on the characteristic of the selected tower cranes.

New Construction Accident Index Based on Number of Accident and Progress Payments (건설기성과 재해자수에 기반한 건설재해지표 산정방식)

  • In construction work, it can be difficult to know the exact number of full-time workers, so the accident rate is calculated using the approximate number of full-time workers. In addition, as the accident rate calculation is performed based on the assumption that the number of accidents is proportional to the approximate number of workers, the reliability of the calculation result may be questionable. This study proposed a new indicator for accident level based on the progress payment and the number of injuries. The accident-progress ratio, which can be calculated by simply dividing the number of injuries by progress payment, can replace the existing accident rate index or be used as an auxiliary indicator of the accident level. The correlation coefficient between the number of injuries and the progress payment was higher than that between the number of injuries and the number of construction workers. In addition, over the past 10 years, the accident rate has been increasing, whereas the accident-progress ratio has showed a decreasing tendency. This might leave room for different interpretations of the annual variation in the accident level in the construction industry.

A Sludge Collector Selection Model by Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCC분석에 의한 슬러지수집기 선정 모델)

  • This study focused on developing Life Cycle Cost(LCC) analysis model for selecting sludge collectors in wastewater treatment system and applying the model to a case study. Cost items are examined through literature review and historical data of a facility. Analysis period, discount rate, energy cost escalation ratio are assumed to reasonable level. Monetary evaluation is performed using historical data and estimations from vendors. Sensitive analysis is executed using Monte Carlo Simulation for assumed factors. Interviews with operators, vendors, constructors, managers are conducted to define factors which indicates ease of maintenance, ease of delivery, technical performance, efficiency, environmental friendship. Factors are representing technical and social factors. Results from LCC analysis and qualitative analysis are evaluate together with Weighted Matrix Evaluation Methods for optimum alternative of sludge collectors.
