Home Appliance Position Recognition through Hand Pointing Command for Arbitrary Camera Location (손 지시 명령을 통한 임의의 카메라 배치에서의 가전기기 위치 인식)

  • 지능형 주거공간에서 손 지시 명령을 통하여 가전기기를 선택하거나 로봇에게 이동하여야 하는 장소를 알려 주기 위해, 기존의 시스템은 선택되는 대상 기기의 3 차원 절대 위치를 미리 알고 있어야 한다. 또한 카메라 위치가 변동되었을 경우, 카메라의 위치를 절대좌표계 기준으로 새롭게 측정해야 하는 불편함이 있다. 이를 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 팬/틸트 모듈을 가진 두 대의 USB 카메라를 임의의 위치에 배치하더라도, 두 번의 손 지시만으로 선택 대상이 되는 기기의 3 차원 위치를 파악하고 이를 동작시키는 방법을 다룬다. 제안하는 방법에서는 두 대의 카메라 간의 상대 좌표계를 형성하기 위해 각 카메라에 표식을 부착한다. 각 카메라에서 다른 카메라의 표식을 관찰하면 카메라 간의 거리 및 각도를 구할 수 있기 때문에, 하나의 카메라를 기준으로 3 차원 절대 좌표계를 자동으로 설정할 수 있다. 또한, 두 대의 카메라로 사용자의 얼굴과 손을 검출하면 얻어진 기준 좌표계에 대해 얼굴과 손의 3 차원 위치를 계산하고, 두 지점을 연결하는 방향 벡터를 구함으로써 사용자가 손으로 지시하는 방향을 찾는다. 따라서, 카메라를 임의의 위치에 두더라도 사용자의 손 지시 동작만으로 대상체의 차원 위치를 파악할 수 있게 된다. 개발된 시스템의 유용성을 검증하기 위해 각 가전기기의 위치를 제안한 방법으로 구하고 실제 위치와의 오차를 분석하였다. 제안한 방법은 두 대의 USB 카메라와 일반 PC 또는 마이크로 프로세서만으로 구현할 수 있기 때문에 비용이 적게 들고 실시간 처리가 가능하며 사용자의 환경에서 편리성을 높이는 등 많은 장점을 가진다.

A study on the integerized implementation of PCA Recognition Algorithm (PCA 인식 알고리즘의 정수화 구현에 관한 연구)

  • This paper proposes an integerized approach to solve PCA(Principal Component Analysis) feature extract procedure mainly used for the face recognition. A simple conversion to integer values has the risk to reduce the precision compared to that of the floating points operations. We integerize the PC variables by normalizing with the maximum of them, and show the efficiency of the proposed scheme by comparing the results to those of the float/double precisions. The integerized scheme is expected to be an efficient way for the real-time implementation of PCA's recognition stage, because integer operator is more desirable than floating point ones. Further research is to find a way to implement face detection and to measure the distances from the stored PCs for the full real-time face recognition.

  • 본 논문에서는 감시카메라 환경에서 취득한 오디오 데이터를 입력으로 하여, 비정상 상황을 인식하는 시스템을 제안한다. 제안된 시스템은 단일클래스 SVM의 대표적인 모델인 SVDD와 최근 얼굴 인식 분야에서 성공적인 업적을 보여주고 있는 신호 처리 분야의 SRC를 계층적으로 결합한 구조로써, 첫 번째 계층에서는 SVDD로 비정상 소리를 신속하게 탐지하여 관리자에게 알람 경고하고, 두 번째 계층의 SRC는 탐지된 비정상 소리를 유형별로 세분화 식별하여 관리자에게 비상 상황을 보고함으로써 관리자의 위기 상황 대처를 돕는다. 제안된 시스템은 실시간 처리가 가능하며, 점증적 갱신의 학습 능력으로 인하여 비정상 오디오 데이터베이스의 변화에도 능동적으로 적응할 수 있다. 실험을 통하여 제안된 시스템의 성능을 검증한다.

  • We implemented and evaluated the preformance of a task level pipelined multicomputer "RV860-PIPE(Realtime Vision i860 system using PIPEline)" for computer vision applications. RV860-PIPE is a message-passing MIMD computer having ring interconnection network which is appropriate for vision processing. We designed the node computer of RV860-PIPE using a 64-bit microprocessor to have generality and high processing power for various vision algorithms. Furthermore, to reduce the communication overhead between node computers and between node computer and a frame grabber, we designed dedicated high speed communication channels between them. We showed the practical applicability of the implemented system by evaluting performances of various computer vision applications like edge detection, real-time moving object tracking, and real-time face recognition.

  • E-learning technology which effectively supports the learning methodologies between students and professors and which provides location and time benefits to students is being researched now a days. However, E-learning classes produce bad effects comparing with offline classes in learning procedures including scholastic achievements. Bad effects of E-learning system could be proxy attendance, lack of concentration, and bad attitude of students. These environmental problems must be solved first to achieve the advantages of E-learning technology. To get rid of these problems, in this paper, we proposed a mechanism which provides effective learning progress by using face authentication method. This mechanism supervise the student by using real time face recognition which prevents proxy attendance, illegal activities, and student's absences.

  • CCTV(Closed Circuit television) is one of the widely used physical security technologies and video acquisition device installed at specific point with various purposes. Recently, as the CCTV capabilities improve, facial recognition from the information collected from CCTV video is under development. However, in case these technologies are exploited, concerns on major privacy infringement are high. Especially, a computer connected to a particular space images taken by the camera in real time over the Internet has emerged to show information services. In the privacy law, safety measures which is related with biometric template are notified. Accordingly, in this paper, for the protection of privacy video information in the video surveillance system, the technical and managerial requirements for video information security are suggested.

  • The performance of the personalized product recommendation system for offline shopping malls is poor compared with the one using online environment information since it is difficult to obtain visitors' characteristic information. In this paper, a mobile robot platform is suggested capable of recommending personalized advertisement using customers' sex and age information provided by Face API of MS Azure Cloud service. The performance of the developed robot is verified through locomotion experiments, and the performance of API used for our robot is tested using sampled images from open Asian FAce Dataset (AFAD). The developed robot could be effective in marketing by providing personalized advertisements at offline shopping malls.

Gaze Detection System using Real-time Active Vision Camera (실시간 능동 비전 카메라를 이용한 시선 위치 추적 시스템)

  • This paper presents a new and practical method based on computer vision for detecting the monitor position where the user is looking. In general, the user tends to move both his face and eyes in order to gaze at certain monitor position. Previous researches use only one wide view camera, which can capture a whole user's face. In such a case, the image resolution is too low and the fine movements of user's eye cannot be exactly detected. So, we implement the gaze detection system with dual camera systems(a wide and a narrow view camera). In order to locate the user's eye position accurately, the narrow view camera has the functionalities of auto focusing and auto panning/tilting based on the detected 3D facial feature positions from the wide view camera. In addition, we use dual R-LED illuminators in order to detect facial features and especially eye features. As experimental results, we can implement the real-time gaze detection system and the gaze position accuracy between the computed positions and the real ones is about 3.44 cm of RMS error.

  • With the success of the world's first 3D computer animated film, "Toy Story" in 1995, industrial development of 3D computer animation gained considerable momentum. Consequently, various 3D animations for TV were produced; in addition, high quality 3D computer animation games became common. To save a large amount of 3D animation production time and cost, technological development has been conducted actively, in accordance with the expansion of industrial demand in this field. Further, compared with the traditional approach of producing animations through hand-drawings, the efficiency of producing 3D computer animations is infinitely greater. In this study, an experiment and a comparative analysis of markerless motion capture systems for facial expression animation has been conducted that aims to improve the efficiency of 3D computer animation production. Faceware system, which is a product of Image Metrics, provides sophisticated production tools despite the complexity of motion capture recognition and application process. Faceshift system, which is a product of same-named Faceshift, though relatively less sophisticated, provides applications for rapid real-time motion recognition. It is hoped that the results of the comparative analysis presented in this paper become baseline data for selecting the appropriate motion capture and key frame animation method for the most efficient production of facial expression animation in accordance with production time and cost, and the degree of sophistication and media in use, when creating animation.

  • In this paper we proposed a vision based realtime hand gesture recognition method. To extract skin color, we translate RGB color space into YCbCr color space and use CbCr color for the final extraction. To find the center of extracted hand region we apply practical center point extraction algorithm. We use Kalman filter to tracking hand region and use HMM(Hidden Markov Model) algorithm (learning 6 type of hand gesture image) to recognize it. We demonstrated the effectiveness of our algorithm by some experiments.
