실물옵션 기반 기술가치 평가모델 정교화와 변동성 연구

  • 최근 들어 기술벤처기업에 대한 투자가 증가하고, 이를 위한 기술신용평가의 역할이 증대하였다. 그러나 금융권에서 바라보는 기술신용평가의 경우, 해당 기업의 신용등급이나 기술(력) 등급평가에 초점을 두어, 대상기술의 사업화 및 수익성 관점을 체계적으로 반영하지 못하는 한계를 지닌다. 따라서, 벤처캐피털(VC)이나 엔젤투자자를 비롯한 금융권에서 대상기술의 수익성 정보를 참조하거나 기술벤처기업 설립시 기술지분을 참고하는 등, 기존 기술이전거래 협상참조용이나 담보 보증용에 널리 이용되던 기술가치평가의 활용범위가 급격히 확대되고 있다. 제조 서비스 분야의 일반 기술 뿐만이 아니라, 바이오 제약 의료 분야 기술에서도 미래 투입되어야 하는 사업화 소요기간 및 비용을 고려하여 기술가치를 산정해야 할 때가 있다. 기존의 현금흐름할인법(DCF법)이 연속된 투자에 대한 고려를 못하거나 기술적용 제품의 상용화 투입비용에 대한 확률적인 속성을 반영하지 못하는 등 한계점을 지니고 있다. 그러나 기술과 투자의 가치는 기회가치로 보고 자원배분을 위한 의사결정 정보를 감안해야 하므로, 실물옵션의 개념을 적용하는 것이 바람직하다고 여겨진다. 흔히 기업가치를 평가할 때 주가의 변동성(volatility) 개념을 도입하여 전일종가 대비 익일시가의 분산값을 활용하기도 한다. 이러한 개념을 기술가치평가에 적용하기 위해서는 '주가의 연속성(상대적 미세한 변화)' 및 '양(+)의 조건'을 고려해야 하는데, 실제 기술가치평가 상의 현금흐름은 사업초기년도 음(-)의 값이 나타나거나 2~3년 내외의 짧은 수익예상기간 하에서는 주가와 같은 변동성을 도출하는데 무리가 있다. 따라서 많은 문헌에서 연구된 바와 같이, 실물옵션 기반의 기술가치 산정을 위한 블랙-숄즈 모형에서 변동성과 기초자산가치, 그리고 사업화비용 간의 관계를 살펴볼 필요가 있다. 아울러 옵션가격결정모형(Option Pricing Model)에서 불확실성을 반영한 기초자산의 현재가치와 사업화비용의 현재가치분이 특정 임계조건 하에서 '옵션행사 포기(NAT; no action taken)' 영역으로 구분되는 지를 수학적으로 도출하고 관찰변수(입력값)에 따른 옵션가치 산출표를 개발하여 제시한다.

  • In order to enhance the national competitiveness of the korean knowledge economy it is necessary to establish new, cooperative industrial relations. In the past mass production economy the technological innovations generally substitute the real assets for the labour so that the interest conflict between employers and employees was inherent and the resistance of the labourers to innovations was unavoidable. In the knowledge economy, however, the real assets and the labour are complementary to each other and the investments in skills and education bring increasing returns. These are the most important reasons for the common interest of employers and employees in improved skills and advanced education. In the knowledge economy, therefore, establishing and maintaining the cooperative industrial relations is a necessary condition to maximize the value creation, where in Korea the 'Tripartite Commission' can and has to play a active role.

  • This paper develops a theory of the demand for insurance. The present model incorporates insurance demand time value of insurance premium, and demand for listless and risky assets simultaneously within the expected utility framework. For a special case of CARA, an insurance decision can be made separately from other portfolio decisions. However, in general, the interactions of both decisions cannot be ignored even when insurable and speculative risks are stochastically independent. In particular, the role of risky investment in hedging insurable risk is demonstrated and it is shown that this role cannot be duplicated by an insurance contract. When the investment decision is made simultaneously with the insurance decision, some of the classic theory on insurance should be modified. As an example, the authors characterize the sufficient conditions, under which the Bernoulli criteria (without and with premium loadings) hold or are violated in terms of the net gain of risky investment, the net cost of insurance, and the stochastic relationship between insurable and speculative risks. The authors interpret the results using the Rothschild and Stiglitz's (1970) notion of 'increase in riskiness'.

Review and New Suggestions about Valuation of Technology (기술가치평가기법에 대한 검토 및 새로운 제안)

  • 본 논문에서는 기존의 기술가치평가모형들을 검토하여 문제점과 한계를 찾아내고, 이를 극복할 뿐만 아니라, 기술의 실제가치에 접근하고자 새로운 시도를 하였다. 먼저 1단계에서는 DCF 모형을 이용하여 사업가치를 계산하고, 2단계에서는 사업가치에서 무형자산이 차지하는 비율이 산업별로 서로 다를 것이라는 가정아래 사업가치 창출에 대한 무형자산의 기여도를 구했다. 그리고 3단계에서는 전체 사업가치 창출에서 기술의 기여가 차지하는 비중을 측정하는 기술의 기여도를 구했다. 이렇게 3단계에 걸쳐 얻은 결과를 동시에 고려하여 기술가치를 산출하였다. 그리고 마지막 4단계에서는 전 단계에서 고려되지 못했던 미래수익 창출의 불확실성을 반영하기 위해 실물옵션모형을 적용하였다. 이와 같이 평가과정을 4단계로 구분하고, 각 단계별로 평가의 특성에 맞는 방법을 채택함으로써, 기존의 평가모형이 가지고 있었던 문제점과 한계를 극복하고, 불확실성이 높은 기술자산의 실제가치에 보다 근접할 수 있었다.

  • Recently, when evaluating the technology values in the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and medicine, we have needed more to estimate those values in consideration of the period and cost for the commercialization to be put into in future. The existing discounted cash flow (DCF) method has limitations in that it can not consider consecutive investment or does not reflect the probabilistic property of commercialized input cost of technology-applied products. However, since the value of technology and investment should be considered as opportunity value and the information of decision-making for resource allocation should be taken into account, it is regarded desirable to apply the concept of real options, and in order to reflect the characteristics of business model for the target technology into the concept of volatility in terms of stock price which we usually apply to in evaluation of a firm's value, we need to consider 'the continuity of stock price (relatively minor change)' and 'positive condition'. Thus, as discussed in a lot of literature, it is necessary to investigate the relationship among volatility, underlying asset values, and cost of commercialization in the Black-Scholes model for estimating the technology value based on real options. This study is expected to provide more elaborated real options model, by mathematically deriving whether the ratio of the present value of the underlying asset to the present value of the commercialization cost, which reflects the uncertainty in the option pricing model (OPM), is divided into the "no action taken" (NAT) area under certain threshold conditions or not, and also presenting the estimation logic for option values according to the observation variables (or input values).

  • Although many companies acknowledge the necessity of investment of information security, it is difficult to grasp a tangible effect and to calculate a scale of damage from the security incident. Consequently, companies are under the reality that it is not easy to make an investment decision for information security and to calculate the investment scale. For the investment decision making, although there are several traditional techniques of investment analysis, the investment of information security, comparing to other tangible assets, has limitations in using traditional techniques due to the highly uncertain investment effects. In this study, the traditional technique of investment analysis will be described, and the application method of analytic technique for Real Option, which is developed from the evaluation technique of highly uncertain financial futures and options, will be suggested.

  • 화폐는 초기 조개, 쌀과 같은 실물 자산 기반에서 금, 은과 같은 귀금속 기반으로 변하고 다시 지폐의 형태로 되었다. 지폐 화폐는 그 가치를 금으로 담보하다가 1971년 금태환이 중지되면서 신용으로 가치를 보장하였다. 금융위기로 신용 화폐에 대한 근원적 문제가 제기됨에 따라 비트코인과 같은 새로운 형태의 화폐가 생겨나기도 했는데 본 논문에서는 인간의 창조물인 아트를 기반으로 한 화폐 개념에 대해서 살펴보고자 한다.

A Study On The Economic Value Of Firm's Big Data Technologies Introduction Using Real Option Approach - Based On YUYU Pharmaceuticals Case - (실물옵션 기법을 이용한 기업의 빅데이터 기술 도입의 경제적 가치 분석 - 유유제약 사례를 중심으로 -)

  • This study focus on a economic value of the Big Data technologies by real options model using big data technology company's stock price to determine the price of the economic value of incremental assessed value. For estimating stochastic process of company's stock price by big data technology to extract the incremental shares, Generalized Moments Method (GMM) are used. Option value for Black-Scholes partial differential equation was derived, in which finite difference numerical methods to obtain the Big Data technology was introduced to estimate the economic value. As a result, a option value of big data technology investment is 38.5 billion under assumption which investment cost is 50 million won and time value is a about 1 million, respectively. Thus, introduction of big data technology to create a substantial effect on corporate profits, is valuable and there are an effects on the additional time value. Sensitivity analysis of lower underlying asset value appear decreased options value and the lower investment cost showed increased options value. A volatility are not sensitive on the option value due to the big data technological characteristics which are low stock volatility and introduction periods.

An Overlapping Types Model and the Pure Medium of Exchange Role of Fiat Money (중복유형모형(重複類型模型)과 화폐(貨幣)의 순수교환기능(純粹交換機能))

  • Any money model should address the most important phenomenon of a monetary economy, which is the phenomenon of the rate of return dominance. Even if the holding returns on financial or nonfinancial assets are higher than the rate of return on fiat money holding, which is typically zero, people still hold and use money. In a period of accelerating inflation, number of dominating assets increases continuously, yet people continue to hold and use money. Wallace's (1980) overlapping generations model cannot address the rate of return dominance phenomenon. His model does not capture the mediun of exchange role of fiat money. In this paper, an overlapping types model of fiat money is constructed, in which different types of consumers have different preferences on different types of goods, are endowed with different types of goods, are located at seperated regions, and live for only two periods. In this model, people hold and use money despite the dominating assets, even if inflation accelates. Money in this case serves as a pure medium of exchange, whereas in Wallace's model, money serves as a pure store of value, and money disappears if a dominating asset exists. An interesting feature of the overlapping types model presented in this paper is that money does not provide a cheap approximation to an idealized and efficient real allocation. A monetary economy is always superior to a nonmonetary economy, because money helps overcome the incompleteness of the overlapping types friction. In a monetary economy, however, a pareto optimal allocation cannot always be achieved, because money cannot always overcome the overlapping types friction itself. Therefore, with the criterion of optimality of real allocations, the monetary economy is more optimal than a nonmonetary economy but less optimal than a complete Arrow-Debreu economy. This feature has important implications on macro modelling. Because of the difficulty in introducing money into a macro model in an essential and endogenous manner as in the overlapping types model of this paper, a macro model typically ignores money and studies real allocations without the money factor. The possible inefficiencies of a monetary economy, relative to a complete real Arrow-Debreu economy, may indicate differences in real allocations between the two models.

A Case Study on the Online Fractional Investment Securitization Platform (온라인 분할 투자 증권화 플랫폼 사례 연구)

  • With the development of information and communication technology, online fractional investment platforms have emerged through the convergence of online platform technology and new investment techniques for asset-backed derivatives. In this study, the concept and previous studies of the online fractional investment platform business, commercialization models and service processes, market status, and pending discussions and alternatives were presented. Recently, the Securities and Futures Commission's decision on securitization of split ownership has become an important guide to the stable business sustainability of platform operators, but academic research is needed according to the current status and case analysis. To identify specific market issues, examples of representative online fractional investment securitization platform businesses such as "MusiCow" for music copyright, "Tessa" based on art, "Kasa" for real estate, "Piece" based on real assets, and "BangCow" for Korean beef shipments were analyzed. Through the case analysis of this study, the characteristics of the business model according to the basic assets of the online fractional investment platform were compared and presented. Since most business models are judged to be securitic, they must comply with the provisions of the Capital Markets Act or be recognized as the target of innovative financial services. From a practical point of view, it is meaningful in that it presented improvement directions that online fractional securitization platform operators should consider and organized institutional considerations for investor protection.
