  • 실내공기 정화를 목적으로 하는 에어컨이나 공기청정기 등의 경우 사용시간이 길어질수록 공기 정화용 필터에 오염물질이 축적되고 수많은 세균이 필터에 증식하게 되며, 이에 대한 유효한 살균방법 중의 하나인 오존살균방법을 이용하게 된다. 오존은 강력한 살균력과 단시간의 환원작용으로 인해 이차적인 잔류 오염물질을 남기지 않는다는 장점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 선대 그물형 전극을 적용한 실내필터 살균용 오존 발생장치의 선전극 개수에 따른 살균을 위한 최적의 오존 발생 특성에 대한 실험을 수행하였다. 실험결과, 실내필터 살균을 위한 최적의 오존농도는 약 2[ppm] 정도가 요구되므로, 본 오존 발생장치의 경우 선전극이 7개이고 인가전압이 18[kV]일 때 1.134[W]의 전력으로 3.527[ppm/W]의 오존을 발생시켰다.

  • 오존은 질소산화물, 일산화탄소 및 휘발성 유기화학물질 등의 광화학반응에 의해 생성되는 2차 오염물질이다(Haagen-Smit and Fox, 1953). 오존은 낮은 농도에서도 인체 및 식물에게 영향을 미치는 것으로 알려져 있다. 우리나라에서도 오존의 대기환경기준을 8시간 평균 0.06ppm, 1시간 평균 0.10ppm으로 낮추고, 오존예보제ㆍ경보제 등을 운영하여 오존에 의한 영향을 줄이고자 노력하고 있다. 그러나 서울과 같은 도시 밀집지역은 자동차의 밀집과 대형건축물의 증가, 기류 정체로 오염물질의 확산이 어렵고 도심지 내 열섬(heat island)현상으로 대기온도가 증가하여 오존생성에 유리한 조건을 형성함으로 인해 연평균 오염도가 1990년 이후 꾸준히 증가하고 있는 추세이다.   • Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma module for sterilizing airborne bacteria in indoor spaces and measure the concentration of ozone generated during plasma discharge. Method: The DBD plasma module was installed in a 76m3 space, and air samples were collected under various discharge times to compare the reduction of airborne bacteria. Result: The results showed a significant decrease in airborne bacteria, ranging from 92.057% to 99.999%, with an average ozone concentration of 0.04 ppm, below the reference value. Conclusion: The study suggests that plasma discharge can be used as a means of preventing the spread of airborne bacteria and viruses, while ensuring safety for human exposure.

Variation of Indoor Average Ozone Concentration within the Radiation Therapy Room by High Energy Radiation (고 에너지 방사선에 기인된 방사선치료실 내 평균 오존 농도의 변화)

  • This study was to evaluate the change in characteristics of concentration of ozone after exposure to high energy radiation in linac room. Background ozone concentration of linac room was measured and compared to ozone concentration around linac room. Background ozone concentration of linac room was mean $17.4{\pm}7.9ppb$. It was 50% of the ozone concentration($36.8{\pm}22.3ppb$) around linac room(p<0.05). The concentration of ozone after exposure to high energy radiation in linac room was elevated to double of background ozone level, intensity after exposure. with exposure time concentration of ozone increased proportionally. It showed maximum level at 130~180seconds and slowed a tendency to saturate. It required more than 10 minutes for ozone concentration in linac room to drop to ozone concentration around linac room. The concentration of ozone after exposure to high energy radiation is high enough to cause specific physical symptoms, such as acute dyspnea or chest pain due to dry cough. Exposure to high concentration of ozone in sealed linac room can aggravate pulmonary disease, so special attention is needed.

  • 오존($O_3$)은 이산화질소, 일산화탄소, 휘발성유기화합물 둥을 포함하는 다양한 물질과 광화학반응에 의하여 생성되는 2차적인 오염물질로 사람과 식물에 영향을 미치고 있는 중요한 오염물질로 알려지고 있으며, 국내에서는 이와 관련하여 오존예보제, 경보제 둥을 운영하여 오존에 의한 피해 영향을 줄이고자 노력하고 있다. 현재 오존을 측정할 수 있는 방법은 환경오염공정시험방법과 정부에서 운영하고 있는 대기오염 자동측정망의 오존 측정방법인 자외선광도법(Ultra Violate Photometric Method)으로 구분되어 지고 있으나, 자동측정장비는 매우 고가의 장비이며, 관리를 위하여 전문적인 지식이 요구되고 있고, 측정소의 개수가 매우 부족한 실정이기 때문에 대기중 오존농도의 지역적인 자료와, 실내공기 측정, 그리고 공간적인 분포 해석을 위해서는 다른 측정방법이 요구된다고 하겠다. The Effects of Ozone on Photosynthesis, Antioxidative Enzyme Activity and Leaf Anatomical Response in the Indoor Plants and Japanese Red Pine (실내식물과 소나무의 오존에 대한 광합성 능력, 항산화 효소의 활성, 해부학적 반응)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of ozone pollution on the one woody species and two indoor plants in controlled environment. Pinus densiflora, Spathiphyllum patinii and Epipremnum aureum seedlings were exposed in both control and ozone chambers to investigate photosynthetic rate, water use efficiency, antioxidative enzyme activities such as GR(Glutathione reductase) and APX(Ascorbate peroxidase) activity and leaf anatomical response. Ozone was fumigated 8 hours for a day with 30 ppb concentration for 50 days. Pinus densiflora seedlings showed no significant difference on photosynthetic rate, water use efficiency, antioxidant enzyme activity during ozone exposure. Ozone concentration (30 ppb in this study) is not high enough to generate ozone damage on Pinus densiflora species. In contrast, ozone generally altered photosynthetic rate, antioxidant enzyme (especially GR) activity and leaf anatomy in two indoor species (Spathiphyllum patinii and Epipremnum aureum) exposed in ozone chamber were significantly differ from those of control in every measurement. These data suggest that two indoor species(Spathiphyllum patinii and Epipremnum aureum) are more sensitive to ozone than Pinus densiflora.

Characteristics of indoor air quality in the overground and underground railway stations (지상과 지하역사의 실내공기질 특성과 외기영향 평가)

  • In this study, the air quality of underground and overground railway stations was evaluated focusing on the degree of influence of the outside air quality. The measured components were particulate matter ($PM_{10}$), carbon dioxide ($CO_2$), carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen dioxide ($NO_2$), formaldehyde (HCHO), ozone ($O_3$), total airborne bacteria (TAB), total volatile organic carbon (TVOC), and Radon (Rn), which are included in the maintenance standards and recommended standards of the Indoor Air Quality Management Act. Also, the indoor/outdoor concentration ratios of $PM_{10}$, $NO_2$, and $O_3$ were calculated to estimate the influence of the outdoor air quality. The concentrations of $PM_{10}$ HCHO, TVOC, $NO_2$, and Rn in the underground stations were found to be higher than those in the overground stations. These results indicate that the (present) generation of contaminants are caused by the indoor source of the underground station. The ozone concentration of the overground stations was higher than that of the underground stations, which indicates that the outdoor ozone concentration influenced that of the overground stations directly. Thus, methods of improving the IAQ should take into consideration the types of contamination.

The Characteristics and Application for the New Plate-Type Ozonizer (새로운 형태의 평판형 오존발생기 특성과 응용)

  • It is the paper that this study develops the small plate-type ozonizer(PTO) for improvements of indoor air and water, and investigated the characteristics. Electric discharge area of ozonizer of each form is same to 60[$cm^2$] and discharge power is the maximum 30[W]. Ozonizer of various forms was devised according to size, numbers and arrangement. The main study object is discharge power-ozone concentration characteristics, discharge power-ozone yield characteristics, amount of gas flow-ozone concentration characteristics and amount of gas flow-ozone yield characteristics. PTOL-P appeared so as to be most excellent, and ozone generation characteristics were able to get the similar results at three kinds of remaining ozonizer ($PTO_{P-P}$, $PTO_{C-P}$, $PTO_{T-P}$).
