Ultrasonic Characteristics of Internal Planar Defects of a Hot Forged Al-Si Alloy Part (Al-Si 합금 열간단조품 내부의 판상 결함의 초음파 특성)

  • A nondestructive evaluation technique for detecting internal defects of an hot forged Al-Si alloy part is established in this study. Ultrasonic characteristics of various internal planar defects are investigated by experiments for establishing a reliable test procedure. The effect of the angle between ultrasonic energy propagation directions and planar defects on the ultrasonic signal configuration is evaluated in the pulse-echo technique. A characteristic of ultrasonic signal for the internal planar defect located near the edge is also evaluated. The applicability of the through-transmission technique is also discussed. Reliability of the presented approach is validated by the destructive testing for more than 500 specimens.

Revised Beamforming Inversion Method for Ocean Acoustic Tomography (해양음향 토모그래피를 위한 개선된 빔형성 역산 기법)

  • This paper presents a revised beamforming inversion method for ocean acoustic tomography. In the proposed inversion method, the relation between group velocity and phase velocity that are the characteristics of the waveguide is used for the inversion of perturbed sound speed profile. The group velocity and phase velocity can be expressed as a function of the travel time and arrival angle of the received signals that are analyzed by the beamforming signal processing. This paper illustrates the simulated results of inversion for the fluctuated sound speed profile of the East Korea Sea and we found the applicability of revised beamforming inversion method to range independent ocean.

A Compressed Sensing-Based Signal Detection Technique for Generalized Space Shift Keying Systems (일반화된 공간천이변조 시스템에서 압축센싱기술을 이용한 수신신호 복호 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we propose a signal detection technique based on the parallel orthogonal matching pursuit (POMP) is proposed for generalized shift space keying (GSSK) systems, which is a modified version of the orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) that is widely used as a greedy algorithm for sparse signal recovery. The signal recovery problem in the GSSK systems is similar to that in the compressed sensing (CS). In the proposed POMP technique, multiple indexes which have the maximum correlation between the received signal and the channel matrix are selected at the first iteration, while a single index is selected in the OMP algorithm. Finally, the index yielding the minimum residual between the received signal and the M recovered signals is selected as an estimate of the original transmitted signal. POMP with Quantization (POMP-Q) is also proposed, which combines the POMP technique with the signal quantization at each iteration. The proposed POMP technique induces the computational complexity M times, compared with the OMP, but the performance of the signal recovery significantly outperform the conventional OMP algorithm.

A Preliminary Cut-off Indoor Positioning Scheme Using Beacons (비콘을 활용하여 실내위치 찾는 사전 컷-오프 방식)

  • We propose a new indoor positioning algorithm named Cut-off algorithm. This algorithm cuts off candidates of beacons and reference points in advance, before looking for K neighbor reference points which are guessed to be closest to the user's actual location. The algorithm consists of two phases: off-line phase, and on-line phase. In the off-line phase, RSSI and UUID data from beacons are gathered at reference points placed in the indoor environment, and construct a fingerprint map of the data. In the on-line phase, the map is reduced to a smaller one according to the RSSI data of beacons received from the user's device. The nearest K reference points are selected using the reduced map, which are used for estimating user's location. In both phases, relative ranks of the peak signals received from each beacon are used, which smoothen the fluctuations of the signals. The algorithm is shown to be more efficient in terms of accuracy and estimating time.

A Virtual Array Design of 77 GHz Vehicle Radar for Detecting Moving Targets (이동표적 탐지를 위한 77 GHz 차량레이더용 가상배열 설계)

  • This paper specifies on a virtual array design of a 77 GHz vehicle radar for detecting a moving target at a time division transmit and a near range. The virtual array designed reduces a hardware complexity, weight and price. However, a synthesized beam of the virtual array has a high side lobe by a phase distortion of receive signals when the moving target is detected at the time division transmit. For this, a subarray receive signal with a same phase is used and the side lobe of the synthesized beam is suppressed above at least 10 dB. Also the virtual array has a beam distortion by a spherical wave when the vehicle radar operates at near range. So a boresight receive signal of each target range is compensated at each receive signal. Therefore the synthesized beam with compensation recovers a normal main lobe and improves the side lobe about 10~15 dB.

  • 수중폭발성음원인 SUS(signal underwater sound)는 수중에서의 폭발과 동시에 충격파와 기포파들이 연속적으로 발생한다. 이러한 신호는 광범위한 주파수대역을 가지고 전파거리가 길어지면서 굴절과 반사등의 다중경로 전파효과에 의한 신호의 변형까지 생긴다. (1,2,3). 본 연구에서는 deconvolution 방법을 이용하여 수신신호중에서 기포파효과를 최소화시켜 충격파의 수신기 도달시간을 파악하고, 각 충격파들의 전파경로를 추정하여 이 중 직접경로와 해저면 반사경로의 신호를 이용하여 해저면 반사계수를 계산하였다.

  • Conventional MIMO system is required to a number of RF chains as much as a number of antennas. If the number of antennas increased then the number of RF chains increased. Therefore, it is difficult to apply conventional MIMO system to mobile terminals with limited power. In this paper, we propose a TDM(time division multiplexing)-based single RF chain MIMO system. The outcome shows that performance of the proposed system is similar to conventional MIMO system using multiple RF chains when STO is corrected by phase angle estimation and the synchronizing signal of received signal. Therefore, it is possible to implement the MIMO-OFDM system of low power and complexity through a single RF chain.

  • Recently, for detection of low-RCS targets, bistatic radar and multistatic radar have been widely employed. In this paper, we present the process of deriving the received signal modeling of the bistatic MIMO radar system and deals with the performance analysis of applying the bistatic signal to the ML arrival angle estimation algorithm. In case of the ML algorithm, as the number of the targets increases, azimuth search dimension for DOA estimation also increases, which implies that the ML algorithm for multiple targets is computationally very intensive. To solve this problem a closed-form expression of estimation error is presented for performance analysis of the algorithm.

  • 현재 측위에 대한 측정 대상이 점점 작아지면서, 그에 따른 정확도 까지 높아지고 있다. 실내 측위에 관한 기술은 대표적으로 단말기의 수신신호의 세기방식인 RSS(Received Signal Strength), 수신신호의 도달시간 방식 TOA(Time of Arrival), 수신 신호의 도달 시간차 방식 TDOA(Time Difference of Arrival), 수신신호의 입사각 방식인 AOA(Angle of Arrival) 등 여러 가지 기술이 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 논문은 특수 장비를 사용하지 않고, 무선 네트워크 기반의 실내 측위 중에 정확도가 높은 Fingerprinting 방법을 택하였다. WLAN 기반 실내측위에 가장 많이 사용되는 KNN은 k개의 이웃수와 RP의 수에 따라 민감하다. 본 논문에서는 KNN 성능을 향상 시키기 위해 SVM 이용하여 SNR 데이터를 군집화를 적용한 KNN과 SVM을 혼합한 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 제안한 알고리즘은 신호잡음비 데이터를 KNN 방법에 적용하여 k개의 RP를 선택한 후 선택된 RP의 신호잡음비를 SVM에 적용하여 k개의 RP를 군집하여 분류한다. 실험 결과 위치 오차가 2m이내에 KNN/SVM 혼합 알고리즘이 KNN 알고리즘보다 성능이 우수하다.

Performance Analysis of Adaptive Beamforming System Based on Planar Array Antenna (평면 배열 안테나 기반의 적응 빔형성 시스템 성능 분석)

  • The signal intelligence (SIGINT) technology is actively used for collecting various data, in a number of fields, including a military industry. In order to collect the signal information and data and to transmit/receive the collected data efficiently, the accurate angle-of-arrival (AOA) information is required and communication disturbance from the interference or jamming signal should be minimized. In this paper, we present the structure of an adaptive beam-forming satellite system based on the planar array antenna, for collecting and transmitting/receiving the signal information and data efficiently. The presented adaptive beam-forming system consists of an antenna in the form of a planar array, an AOA estimator based on the Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC) algorithm, an adaptive Minimum Variance Distortionless Response (MVDR) interference canceler, a signal processing and D/B unit, and a transmission beamformer based on Minimum mean Square Error (MMSE). In addition, through the computer simulation, we evaluate and analyze the performance of the proposed system.
