Object-oriented analysis-synthesis coding (OOASC) subdivides each image of a sequence into a number of moving objects and estimates and compensates the motion of each object. It employs a motion parameter technique for estimating motion information of each object. The motion parameter technique employing gradient operators requires a high computational load. The main objective of this paper is to present efficient motion parameter estimation techniques using the hierarchical structure in object-oriented analysis-synthesis coding. In order to achieve this goal, this paper proposes two algorithms : hybrid motion parameter estimation method (HMPEM) and adaptive motion parameter estimation method (AMPEM) using the hierarchical structure. HMPEM uses the proposed hierarchical structure, in which six or eight motion parameters are estimated by a parameter verification process in a low-resolution image, whose size is equal to one fourth of that of an original image. AMPEM uses the same hierarchical structure with the motion detection criterion that measures the amount of motion based on the temporal co-occurrence matrices for adaptive estimation of the motion parameters. This method is fast and easily implemented using parallel processing techniques. Theoretical analysis and computer simulation show that the peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR) of the image reconstructed by the proposed method lies between those of images reconstructed by the conventional 6- and 8-parameter estimation methods with a greatly reduced computational load by a factor of about four.
Sparse-view computed tomography (CT) imaging technique is able to reduce radiation dose, ensure the uniformity of image characteristics among projections and suppress noise. However, the reconstructed images obtained by the sparse-view CT imaging technique suffer from severe artifacts, resulting in the distortion of image quality and internal structures. In this study, we proposed a convolutional neural network (CNN) with wavelet transformation and residual learning for reducing artifacts in sparse-view CT image, and the performance of the trained model was quantitatively analyzed. The CNN consisted of wavelet transformation, convolutional and inverse wavelet transformation layers, and input and output images were configured as sparse-view CT images and residual images, respectively. For training the CNN, the loss function was calculated by using mean squared error (MSE), and the Adam function was used as an optimizer. Result images were obtained by subtracting the residual images, which were predicted by the trained model, from sparse-view CT images. The quantitative accuracy of the result images were measured in terms of peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and structural similarity (SSIM). The results showed that the trained model is able to improve the spatial resolution of the result images as well as reduce artifacts in sparse-view CT images effectively. Also, the trained model increased the PSNR and SSIM by 8.18% and 19.71% in comparison to the imaging model trained without wavelet transformation and residual learning, respectively. Therefore, the imaging model proposed in this study can restore the image quality of sparse-view CT image by reducing artifacts, improving spatial resolution and quantitative accuracy.
The efficient utilization of cache memories is a key factor in achieving high performance for computing large signal transforms. Nonunit stride access in computation of large DFTs causes cache conflict misses, thereby resulting in poor cache performance. It leads to a severe degradation in overall performance. In this paper, we propose a dynamic data layout approach considering the memory hierarchy system. In our approach, data reorganization is performed between computation stages to reduce the number of cache misses. Also, we develop an efficient search algorithm to determine the optimal tree with the minimum execution time among possible factorization trees considering the size of DFTs and the data access stride. Our approach is applied to compute the fast Fourier Transform (FFT). Experiments were performed on Pentium 4, $Athlon^{TM}$ 64, Alpha 21264, UtraSPARC III. Experiment results show that our FFT achieve performance improvement of up to 3.37 times better than the previous FFT packages.
The interpretation of observed waveform characteristics identified in refraction and wide-angle reflection data increases confidence in the crustal structure model obtained. When calculating traveltimes and raypaths, wavefront methods on a regular grid based on graph theory are robust even with complicated structures, but basically compute only first arrivals. In this paper, we develop new algorithms to compute traveltimes and raypaths not only for first arrivals, but also for fast and later reflection arrivals, later refraction arrivals, and converted waves between P and S, using the modified wavefront method based on slowness network nodes mapped on a multi-layer model. Using the new algorithm, we can interpret reflected arrivals, Pg-later arrivals, strong arrivals appearing behind Pn, triplicated Moho reflected arrivals (PmP) to obtain the shape of the Moho, and phases involving conversion between P and S. Using two models of an ocean-continent transition zone and an oceanic ridge or seamount, we show the usefulness of this algorithm, which is confirmed by synthetic seismograms using the 2D Finite Difference Method (2D-FDM). Characteristics of arrivals and raypaths of the two models differ from each other in that using only first-arrival traveltime data for crustal structure analysis involves risk of erroneous interpretation in the ocean-continent transition zone, or the region around a ridge or seamount.
We assessed the feasibility of discrete wavelet transform (DWT) applied for the spectral processing to enhance the estimation performance quality of soil organic matters using visible-near infrared spectra and mapped their distribution via block Kriging model. Continuum-removal and $1^{st}$ derivative transform as well as Haar and Daubechies DWT were used to enhance spectral variation in terms of soil organic matter contents and those spectra were put into the PLSR (Partial Least Squares Regression) model. Estimation results using raw reflectance and transformed spectra showed similar quality with $R^2$ > 0.6 and RPD> 1.5. These values mean the approximation prediction on soil organic matter contents. The poor performance of estimation using DWT spectra might be caused by coarser approximation of DWT which not enough to express spectral variation based on soil organic matter contents. The distribution maps of soil organic matter were drawn via a spatial information model, Kriging. Organic contents of soil samples made Gaussian distribution centered at around 20 g $kg^{-1}$ and the values in the map were distributed with similar patterns. The estimated organic matter contents had similar distribution to the measured values even though some parts of estimated value map showed slightly higher. If the estimation quality is improved more, estimation model and mapping using spectroscopy may be applied in global soil mapping, soil classification, and remote sensing data analysis as a rapid and cost-effective method.

The research of global-scale mass redistribution and it changed by Earth gravity filed variation observations, including Earth's oblateness $J_2$(also called low degree spherical harmonic coefficient $C_{20}$), is in continuous progress. Recently, the comparative analysis of geodetic observation SLR can be made by the development of GRACE and other time-variable gravity measurements. In this study, $C_{20}$ time series changes in the value of comparative analysis was got by GRACE monthly Gravity filed model (CSR RL04) for the period April 2002 to May 2008. And comparative analysis the harmonic coefficients of $C_{20}$ was obtained from SLR observations. Signal analysis for two time-series data was made by wavelet transform, CWT(continuous wavelet transform), XWT(cross wavelet transform) and WTC(wavelet coherence) methods. The results indicate that GRACE and SLR values for $C_{20}$ had both decreasing trend, as well as SLR data represent the annual frequencies, and GRACE was semiannual variations. In addition, the results of GRACE and SLR had a strong correlation with the XWT and WTC in an annual cycle.

Recently, the results of many studies have clarified the successful performance of magnetostrictive transducers in which a ferromagnetic patch is used for the transduction of guided shear waves; this is because a thin ferromagnetic patch with strong magnetostriction is very useful for generating and detecting shear wave. This investigation deals with bulk shear wave transduction by means of magnetostriction; on the other hand, the existing studies have been focused on guided shear waves. A modular transducer was developed; this transducer comprised a coil, magnets, and a thin ferromagnetic patch that was made of Fe-Co alloy. Some experiments were conducted to verify the performance of the developed transducer. Radiation directivity pattern of the developed transducer was obtained, and a test to detect the damage on a side drill hole of a steel block specimen was carried out. From the results of these tests, the good performance of the transducer for nondestructive testing was verified on the basis of the signal-to-noise ratio and narrow beam directivity.
A transformation methode of the chromaticity coordinates was proposed to calibrate the measured data obtained by a urine analysis system which implemented in our previous study. Generally. the reacted color of a reagent strip by urine analysis system often exhibit the color distortions due to nonlinear characteristics of the various devices that is the optic module mechanism. hardware, and surround circumstance. A color correction method for minimizing the color distortion play a few role in maintaining high accuracy and reproduction of the urine analysis system. In this work, we used the compensation method such as the shading correction, the characteristic curve extraction of RGB color by means of third order spline interpolation, and linear transformation using a reference color. In addition, 1931 CIE XYZ color space was used to compensate the color of the measured data by a standard reference system as colorimeter. A compensation matrix was obtained so that the output values of the urine analysis system is nearly equal to that of a standard reference system for identical color sample. Color correction obtained by a urine analysis system which implemented in our previous study exhibited a good color accuracy when it was compared with the reference data. Observed result from an experiments on ten items or a urinalysis strip that color difference or between two urine analysis system was 1.28.

In recent years, as SoC design research is actively conducted, a large number of IPs are included in a system. Various bus protocols and bus architectures are designed to increase IP reusability. Among them, the AMBA AHB became a de facto standard although it is somewhat inadequate for a large scale SoC. We proposed SNP and SNA, high performance on-chip-bus protocol and architecture, respectively, to solve the problem of the conventional shared buses. However, it seems to be imperative that the new on-chip-bus system support AMBA-compatible IPs for a while since there are a lot of IPs with AMBA interface. In this paper, we propose an extended SNP specification and a corresponding SNA component to support ABMA-compatible IPs used in SNA - based system. We extend the phase of the SNP by 1 bit to add new 8 phases to support communication based on AMBA protocol without penalty of elongated cycle latency. The ARB-to -XSNP converter translates the protocol between AHB and SNP to attach AMBA -compatible IPs to SNA based system. We show that AMBA IPs can communicate through SNP without any degradation of performance using the extended SNP and AHB - to- XSNP converter.

On assuming that the transmission speed of the original information is the fifth-order transmission speed of the Korea digital multiplex hierarchy (564.992Mb/s), this paper proposes a new structure of the transmission line frame at the terminal repeater system, in order to not only maintain and conserve 565Mb/s optical fiber transmission system but also make the B.S.I. of digital communication network for the optical transmission. And the structure uses the mBIZ transmission line code, which is considered the optimal transmission line code of conventional transmission line codes. System hardware of the transmission line frame structure proposed in this paper is consisted by a method of pulse stuffing after converting the speed of the original information signal sequence at the terminal repeater system for 565Mb/s optical transmission. As a result of this, we can prevent the optical transmission system from a domino phenomenon, the phenomenon of the continuous error multiplication of systems by the transmission error, and suppress timing jitter and the identical consecutive digit number. And also we can improve SNR of the optical transmission system about 2dB because of raising total BER at the optical terminal system up to 10.
