  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore maternal physical activity support for preschool children. Methods: Survey methodology using a self-administered questionnaire was employed. Mothers with preschool children from a daycare center in Daejeon participated in the study. One hundred and fifty-six questionnaires were analyzed. Results: Mothers with preschool children showed a moderate level of physical activity support for their children. Significant factors affecting physical activity support of mothers were monthly household income (${\beta}$=.417, p=.002), maternal self-efficacy for physical activity support (${\beta}$=.231, p=.003), information for physical activity support (${\beta}$=.173, p=.022), and experience of education about physical activity support (${\beta}$=.237, p=.002). These variables explained 26.4% of the variance in physical activity support (F=7.628, p<.001). Conclusion: To improve maternal support for increasing physical activity of preschool children, maternal education and appropriate information should be provided to improve self-efficacy for physical activity support.

Methods: Data from 659 adolescents aged 13 to 18 years who participated in the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2017-2018) were analyzed. Collected data were analyzed using complex sampling data analysis with SPSS v. 27.0. Results: The adolescents were categorized into three groups based on their physical activity as follows: The first group with high physical activity (8.9%), a second group with normal physical activity (29.7%), and a third group without physical activity (61.4%). Boys showed significantly higher physical activity than the girls. Adolescents with high physical activity had a significantly lower body mass index than adolescents without physical activity, but their meal regularity, subjective health status, and recognition of body image were significantly higher. In terms of biochemical factors, adolescents with high physical activity had lower triglycerides and cholesterol than adolescents without physical activity, while hemoglobin and hematocrit were significantly higher. In addition, the intakes of energy, carbohydrates, proteins, fat, vitamin B1, niacin, calcium, phosphorus, sodium, potassium, iron increased significantly as adolescents' physical activity increased. Conclusion: The physical activity of adolescents had a positive effect on dietary behavior, lifestyle, and nutritional factors. • Recently, adolescent's lack of exercise due to increasing physical inactivity is emerging as a social problem. Accordingly, we planned a smartphone game to increase the physical activity of adolescents. The application is able to induce the interest of the youth through the interesting factor of 'game'. Also it provides the user with information about the physical activity by measuring the amount of physical activity of the user through GPS. We propose a way to continuously motivate adolescent's physical activity through this motion interaction game application.

  • The aim of this study is to suggest the fitness Avatar model for increasing physical activities in individuals with SCI(spinal cord injury). With the increasing of the disable, the ratio of individuals with SCI is also increasing. Avatar is a movable image that represents a person in a virtual reality environment or in cyberspace. With the expansion of new technology, such as video games and virtual reality, there has been an increase in the interest of using virtual reality in therapy. It is not easy for individuals with SCI to access tho sports facilities due to paraplegia. The increasing physical activities based on virtual reality will be the most innovative and future-oriented approach. First, building a system and establishing a comprehensive support system is essential to activate and spread variety of physical activities for individuals with SCI. Second, providing a appropriate feedback and identifying the effect of intervention will be considered.

  • This study was a secondary data analysis using statistics from the 13th (2017) Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey (KYRBS) to investigate the relationship between health behaviors and physical activity among Korean adolescents. A total of 62,276 adolescents in middle and high schools enrolled in this study. Physical activity utilized moderate and vigorous physical activity variables. Health behaviors used smoking, drinking, eating, sedentary behavior, and sleep duration variables. Statistical analyses were performed applying complex sample analysis method. Chi-square tests were used to compare physical activity according to health behaviors. Multivariate multinomial logistic regression analyses were conducted to examine the relationship between health behaviors and physical activity, adjusted for general characteristics. Current smoking and current drinking were associated with high levels of moderate and vigorous physical activity. Consuming fruits≥1 times/day, vegetables≥3 times/day, and sweet drinks≥3 times/week were associated with high levels of moderate and vigorous physical activity. Eating breakfast≥5 times/week was associated with high levels of moderate physical activity, but not with vigorous physical activity. Sedentary behavior≥2 hour/day was associated with low levels of moderate and vigorous physical activity. Sleep duration<7 hour/day was associated with high levels of moderate physical activity and low levels of vigorous physical activity. These findings suggest that since there is an interrelationship between health behaviors and physical activity among adolescents, intervention programs aiming at promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles should consider a multiple behavior approach rather than an individual behavior approach.
