Recently, RES (renewable energy source) projects have been spreading all over the world as an alternative to solve the shortage of energy and environmental problems caused by fossil fuel consumption. The Korean government also supported the policy and demonstration project to increase the proportion of renewable energy to 63.8[GW] until 2030, which is 20[%] of the total power generation. On the other hand, output loss of a PV array can occur when the surrounding high-rise buildings and trees shade a PV array. Therefore, this paper proposes an algorithm to improve the output loss of a PV array, which electrically changes a circuit configuration of PV modules by wiring and switching devices. Furthermore, this study modeled a PV system based on PSIM S/W, which was composed of a PV array, a circuit configuration device, and a grid-connected inverter. From the simulations results with the modeling and test device, the existing method showed no output when 50% of the shade occurs in PV modules. In contrast, the proposed method could produce the output because the voltage in the PV module could be restored to 246[V], and the operation efficiency of the PV system could be improved by the operation algorithm of the circuit configuration device.
This paper uses research on the Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCOE) in South Korea to conduct a simulation analysis on the impact of nuclear power dependency and usage rates on the social costs of power generation. We compare the $7^{th}$ basic plan for long-term electricity supply and demand, which was designed to increase nuclear power generation, to the $8^{th}$ basic plan for long-term electricity supply and demand that decreased nuclear power generation and increased renewable energy generation in order to estimate changes in social costs and electricity rates according to the power generation mix. Our environmental generation mix simulation results indicate that social costs may increase by 22% within 10 years while direct generation cost and electricity rates based on generation and other production costs may increase by as much as 22% and 18%, respectively. Thus we confirm that the power generation mix from the $8^{th}$ basic plan for long-term electricity supply and demand compared to the $7^{th}$ plan increases social costs of generation, which include environmental external costs.
The development of the electrical, electronic, and telecommunication industries has increased the share of electricity in total energy consumption. With the enforcement of the Act on the Promotion of the Development, Use, and Diffusion of New and Renewable Energy in 2021, the mandatory supply ratio of new and renewable energy is expected to expand, and the amount of waste cables generated in the stage of replacing and discarding cables used in the industry is also expected to increase. The purpose of this study was to quantify the environmental burden of waste cable recycling through the life cycle assessment (LCA) method. The results showed that the higher the amount of glue contained in the waste cable, the greater was the amount of fine dust and greenhouse gases generated. In addition, by assigning weights to 10 environmental burden items, it was confirmed that the marine aquatic eco-toxicity potential (MAETP) and human toxicity potential (HTP) had the greatest environmental burden. The main causes were identified as heptane and ethanol, which were the glue contained in the waste cable and the cleaning solutions used to remove them. Therefore, it is necessary to refrain from using glue in the cable production process and reduce the environmental burden by reducing the use of waste cable cleaning solutions used in the recycling process or using alternative materials.

The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) is the multi-lateral 'cap and trade' system endorsed by the Kyoto Protocol. CDM allows developed (Annex I) countries to buy CER credits from New and Renewable (NE) projects of non-Annex countries, to meet their carbon reduction requirements. This in effect subsidizes and promotes NE projects in developing countries, ultimately reducing global greenhouse gases (GHG). To be registered as a CDM project, the project must prove 'additionality,' which depends on numerous factors including the adopted technology, baseline methodology, emission reductions, and the project's internal rate of return. This makes it difficult to determine ex ante a project's acceptance as a CDM approved project, and entails sunk costs and even project cancellation to its project stakeholders. Focusing on hydro power projects and employing UNFCCC public data, this research developed a prediction model using logistic regression and CART to determine the likelihood of approval as a CDM project. The AUC for the logistic regression and CART model was 0.7674 and 0.7231 respectively, which proves the model's prediction accuracy. More importantly, results indicate that the emission reduction amount, MW per hour, investment/Emission as crucial variables, whereas the baseline methodology and technology types were insignificant. This demonstrates that at least for hydro power projects, the specific technology is not as important as the amount of emission reductions and relatively small scale projects and investment to carbon reduction ratios.

Salinity gradient power (SGP) has attracted significant attention because of its high potential. In this study, we evaluate reverse electrodialysis (RED) with various compositions of available resources. The polarization curve (I-V characteristics) shows linear behavior, and therefore the power density curve has a parabolic shape. We measure the power density with varying compartment thicknesses and inlet flow rates. The gross power density increases with decreasing compartment thickness and increasing flow rate. The net power density, which is the gross power density minus the pumping power, has a maximum value at a compartment thickness of 0.2 mm and an inlet flow rate of 22.5 mL/min. The power density in RED is also evaluated with compositions of desalination brines, seawater, river water, wastewater, and brackish water. A maximum power density of $1.75W/m^2$ is obtained when brine discharged from forward osmosis (FO) and river water are used as the concentrated and the diluted solutions, respectively.

Environmental pollution caused by fossil fuel use and energy sources, the big concern is the rise of the current situation, one of the ways to overcome the interest in renewable energy is Gozo. Located on the west coast, especially the Saemangeum area and the northwest wind, the big advantage of the vast area that's got quite a number of wind turbines is expected. This study affirms that these expectations can be a wind energy resource survey sea area of the average wind speed of Kunsan 5 ~ 7m / s is enough, books are linked to the local marine wind farms can safely say that none of choejeokji said. In addition, the emergence of the wind resource to determine the density of the Weibull distribution is calculated using the number 1, the shape factor as a parameter to calculate the density of the wind a result, Gunsan Province was able to predict the emergence of the wind. In addition, by controlling the remote monitoring through the measurement exceeded the convenience and reliability at the same time you can achieve great results.

Several tidal current power plants are being planned and constructed in Korea utilizing the strong tidal currents along the west and south coasts. A tidal current reaches 9.7 m on the west coast; there are few potential regions for tidal current power generation. The construction of a dam to store water can prevent the circulation of water, causing a great environmental impact on the coast and estuary. The tidal barrage could produce a large amount of power, but it should be carefully considered. The purpose of developing renewable energies is to minimize the environmental impact and to maximize the utilization of clean energy. To produce a great quantity of power, tidal current farms require the placement of numerous units in the ocean. The power generation is very dependent on the size of the rotor and the incoming flow velocity. Also, the interactions between devices contribute greatly to the production of power. The efficiency of a power farm is estimated to determine the production rate. This paper introduces 3 D interaction problems between rotating rotors, considering the axial, transverse, and diagonal distances between horizontal axis tidal current devices.

With concern for new renewable energy sources rising, the offshore wind turbine energy market is growing. In order to install offshore wind turbines safely in a harsh environment, jack-up rigs need to be used. Recently, a WTIV(Wind Turbine Installation Vessel), which has a self-propelling system, was developed to replace traditional jack-up rigs. Since the jack-up rig works at 60 meters of depth in offshore and the seafloor is composed mostly of soft clay and sand, it is necessary to conduct a stability examination for ground subsidence before using it. This study conducts an improved numerical analysis of the effect of jack-up rig loading on the soft ground by using FLAC3D considering consolidation theory. This includes analyzing the amount of subsidence when applying different cases of surchargings. It can be concluded that the mid-loading method has an advantage as regards clay layers and the pre-loading method has an advantage as regards sand layers.

The small-sized wind turbine generating system with the output power less than 10kW, which can be installed in some areas of hills, parks, and cities due to its flexibility, is one of the progressive research and development fields in renewable energy. It is important for the small wind turbine generators to have low cost, high reliability as well as high efficiency. To meet these requirements, development of various maximum-power-point-tracking (MPPT) control schemes should be required. Generally, the output of the controller can be connected to a 48V battery to supply power to a DC load. In this work, the design and implementation of an FPGA-based MPPT controller for small-sized wind turbine generating system is presented. For the verification of the practical performance of various MPPT algorithms, CRIO controller from NI has been used.
The photovoltaic (PV) system consists of solar cells, solar modules, inverters and peripherals. The related evaluation and certification are proceeding as standards published by the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) TC (Technical Committee) 82. In particular, PV module is a component that requires stable durability over 20 years, and evaluation in various external environments is very important. Currently, IEC 61215-based standards are being tested, but temperature, humidity, wind and solar radiation conditions are not considered in all areas. For this reason, various types of defects may occur depending on the installation area of the same photovoltaic module. In particular, the domestic climate (South Korea) is moderate. The various test methods proposed by IEC 61215 are appropriate, excessive, or insufficient, depending on environmental condition. In this paper, we analyze the climate data collection for one year to understand the vulnerability of this test method of PV modules. Through this, we propose a test method for PV module suitable for domestic climatic conditions and also propose a technical consideration for installation and design of PV system.
