A study of optical wireless non-LOS link system (광무선 LAN의 비가시전송에 관한 연구)

  • Under indoor environment, in case that wireless optical LAN does not obtain the line-of-sight between transmitter and receiver, hemi-spherical lens or reflector must be adopted to get broader beam width. The beam tilt and the fluctuations in amplitude and phase of optical signal through indoor-space occur due to the turbulene. This fading often results in unacceptably large bit error probabilities and thus performance degradation of wireless optical communications. In this paper, when the spherical filter at the front-end of transmitter and receiver is used for wireless optical channel not satisfying line-of-sight, the signal-to-noise ratio as to zenithal angle and the effect from the turbulence due to indoor temperature are investigated.

  • An improved parameter adaptation and control law for robot manipulator are proposed based on a linearized parametric system equation and augmented error vectors. In view of the modeling error and parasitics with small time constants which inevitably introduced during modelling process, their effects on the robustness of the system performance are reviewed and as an conutermearsure, adaptation mechanism with low pass filter is proposed. Proposed parameter adaptation and control low assure the stability of the robot manipulator in the large without further assumption. Computer simulation shows its effectiveness of the proposed adaptation mechanism to improve the robustness of the system in presence of the parasitics in the system and superior performance for high speed operations make it an attractive option in application of the adaptive control field for robot manipulator.

  • This paper presents the thermal characteristic analysis of a high-speed horizontal machining center with spindle speed of 50,000rpm and feedrate of 120m/min. The spindle system is designed based on the built-in motor, angular contact ceramic ball bearings, oil-air lubrication and oil-jacket cooling method. The X-axis and Y-axis feeding systems are composed of the linear motors and linear motion guides, and the Z-axis feeding system is composed of the servo-motor, ball screw and linear motion guides. The thermal characteristics such as the temperature distribution, temperature rise, thermal deformation and step response, are estimated based on the finite element model of machining center and the heat generation rates of heat sources related to the machine operation conditions. Especially, the thermal time constant assessed from the step response function is introduced as an index of thermal response characteristics.

Adaptive Observer Based Longitudinal Control of Vehicles

  • In this paper, an observer-based adaptive controller is proposed to control the longitudinal motion of vehicles. The standard gradient method will be used to estimate the vehicle parameters such as mass, time constant, etc. The nonlinear model between the driving force and the vehicle acceleration will be chosen to design the state observer for the vehicle velocity and acceleration. It will be shown that the proposed observer is exponentially stable, and that the adaptive controller proposed in this paper is stable by the Lyapunov function candidate. It will be proved that the errors of the relative distance, velocity and acceleration converge to zero asymptotically fast, and that the overall system is also asymptotically stable. The simulation results are presented to investigate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • To obtain a high performance in a vector controlled induction machine, it is essential to know the instantaneous position of the rotor flux which depends on the rotor time constant. But the rotor time constant mainly varies due to the temperature rise in the motor winding, so real time compensating algorithm is necessary. This paper proposes that it uses short duration pulses added to the constant flux command current and then resultant torque command current produced by speed controller is utilized for the rotor resistance estimation. This method has advantages with a low computational requirement and does not require voltage sensors. The proposed method is proved by simulations.

  • Although waste management in construction industry has a significant impact on both economical and environmental issues, the current level of waste management performance in Korean construction is reported as relatively low. In this context, this study aimed to suggest the considerations for the improved construction waste management guideline, which leads to the effective waste management on a construction site. In order to reach this goal, the existing domestic construction waste management guidelines were analyzed based on the criteria of the environmental management procedure of ISO 14001. These considerations were described in three aspects such as "planning", "implementation and operation", and "checking and corrective actions".

A Compression Technique for Interconnect Circuits Driven by a CMOS Gate (CMOS 게이트에 의해서 구동 되는 배선 회로 압축 기술)

  • This paper presents a new technique to reduce a large interconnect circuit with tens of thousands of elements into the one that is small enough to be analyzed by circuit simulators such as SPICE. This technique takes a fundamentally different approach form the conventional methods based on the interconnect circuit structure analysis and several rules based on the Elmore time constant. The time moments are computed form the circuit consisting of the interconnect circuit and the CMOS gate driver model computed by the AWE technique. Then, the equivalent RC circuit is synthesized from those moments. The characteristics of the driving CMOS gate can be reflected with the high degree of accuracy and the size of the compressed circuit is determined by the number of output nodes regardless of the size of the original interconnect circuits. This technique has been implemented in C language, applied to several interconnect circuits driven by a 0.5${\mu}m$ CMOS gate and the equivalent RC circuits with more than 99% reduction ratio and accuracy with 1 ~ 10% error in therms of propagation delays were obtained.

Factors Contributing to the Introduction and Maintenance of Bike Sharing Scheme in Korean Local Cities: The Case of Nubijia in Changwon (한국 지방 도시 공공자전거 정책의 도입과 지속 요인 -창원시 누비자 사례를 중심으로-)

  • This paper aims to illustrate how the third generation bike sharing schemes (BSS) are operated in Korea and identify the possible factors that have made cities to adopt and maintain BSS successfully in Korea. For this, the paper selects the case of Nubija in Changwon as the representative and the most successful BSS case in Korea. It identifies three major factors that have made the city to adopt Nubija. First, Nubija was initiated as a part of the bigger project of 'Environmental Capital' aiming to develop the city as a world class green city attempted by the city government. Second, the mayor's willingness to learn and adopt European model cities of environmental capital and green transportation played a decisive role in developing Nubija. Third, the city government was able to implement BSS policy in a top-down manner so the policy process was relatively speedy and effective. Also Nubijia became a stable policy because the city has gained international reputation as a Korea's representative green city, and as a result, the city's BSS policy has passed the point of no return. In the future, channels should be made for active citizen participation in the decision making process of Nubija so that they can cooperate with the city government to develop Nubija further.

  • 본 연구에서는 비례제어밸브를 이용한 자율주행 트랙터 조향 시스템 제어를 위하여 저가의 임베디드 시스템을 사용한 제어기를 개발하였다. 차륜의 조향각 측정을 위하여 전륜 킹핀에 포텐시오미터를 설치하였으며, 비례제어밸브는 -10 ~ +10V의 전압으로 밸브 스풀의 위치제어를 수행하도록 하였다. 조향각 측정과 비례제어밸브의 위치제어를 위하여 각각에 AT90CAN128 AVR보드를 사용하였으며, CAN통신으로 조향각 데이터가 비례제어밸브 제어용 데이터로 전송될 수 있도록 하였다. 비례제어밸브 제어 보드에는 DAC기능을 추가하였으며 0 ~ 5V의 출력을 -10 ~ +10V의 전압으로 변환해 주는 인터페이스회로를 추가하였다. 일반적으로 GPS 등의 데이터 수신율이 20 Hz인 점을 감안하여 비례제어 밸브는 50 ms의 주기로 P-제어를 수행할 수 있도록 하였다. 향후 트랙터의 방향각을 설정하는 또 하나의 시스템으로부터 목표 조향각을 부여받는 것을 가상하여 별도의 MCU를 통해 목표 조향각을 송신한 후, 조향 유압실린더에 의한 전륜의 조향각 시간 응답 특성을 조사하였다. 실험은 트랙터의 전륜을 지면으로부터 들어올린 무 부하 상태에서 진행하였으며, 목표 조향각은 $7.5^{\circ}$, $15.0^{\circ}$, $22.5^{\circ}$ 등 3단계로 변경하며 시간응답 특성을 측정하였다. 최대 오버슈트 11%, 최소 오버슈트 8.6%, 정상상태 오차 약 $0.825^{\circ}$, 시정수(Time Constant)는 3단계의 목표 조향각 설정에서 각각 0.706초, 0.488초, 0.38초로 나타났다.
