  • This study examined dose change depending on the reposition error of the junction at the time of treatment with multi-isocenter volumetric modulated arc therapy. This study selected a random treatment region in the Arccheck Phantom and established the treatment plan for multi-isocenter volumetric modulated arc therapy. Then, after setting the error of the junction at 0 ~ 4 mm in the X (left), Y (upper), and Z (inner and outer) directions, the area was irradiated using a linear accelerator; the point doses and gamma indexes obtained through the Phantom were subsequently analyzed. It was found that when errors of 2 and 4 mm took place in the X and Y directions, the gamma pass rates (point doses) were 99.3% (2.085) and 98% (2.079 Gy) in the former direction and 98.5% (2.088) and 95.5% (2.093 Gy) in the latter direction, respectively. In addition, when errors of 1, 2, and 4 mm occurred in the inner and outer parts of the Z direction, the gamma pass rates (point doses) were found to be 94.8% (2.131), 82.6% (2.164), and 72.8% (2.22 Gy) in the former part and 93.4% (2.069), 90.6% (2.047), and 79.7% (1.962 Gy) in the latter part, respectively. In the X and Y directions, errors up to 4 mm were tolerable; however, in the Z direction, error values exceeding 1 mm were beyond the tolerance level. This suggests that for high and low dose areas, errors in the direction same as the progress direction in the treatment region have a more sensitive dose distribution. If the guidelines for set-up errors are established at the institutional level through continuous research in the future, it will be possible to provide good quality treatment using junctions.

  • This study was carried out to understand the physiological characteristics of early-matured 'Hanareum' (Pyrus pyrifolia Nakai) pears through anatomical structure and fruit characteristics and also the changes according to gibberellin (GA) treatment. The pericarp at full bloom consists of outer epidermis, hypodermis, parenchyma cell, and inner epidermis from the exterior and five types of vascular bundle tissues. Cork cell layer was formed at 70 days after full bloom (DAFB) in non-treated fruits and formed at 60 DAFB in GA treated fruits. Cell division period was from full bloom (FB) to 40 DAFB and then fruit enlargement was accomplished by the cell growth. Comparison of the fruit enlargement and fruit structure development by GA treatment or non-treatment showed that cell division of 'Hanaerum' fruits did not affect the GA treatment but fruit enlargement was affected cell growth. Fruit stalk of GA treatment fruits was larger than non-treated fruits from 40 DAFB which correspond to the period of the stop of cell division and 'Hanareum' was regarded GA treatment expedite of vascular bundle tissue growth and relatively increased nutrient transport to fruit. In addition to, average fruit quality between the non-treatment and GA treatment showed that fruit weight was higher in fruits treated by GA but firmness was lower and probably was effected fruit storing in 'Hanareum' pear.

  • This study describes the spatio-temporal distributions in phytoplankton community such as species composition, standing crops and dominant species from April to November 2008 in the Uljin Marine Ranching Area (UMRA). A total of 123 species of phytoplankton belonging to 67 genera was identified. In particular, diatoms and dinoflagellates were occupied more than 60.5% and 34.6% of total species, respectively. The annual dominant species were Thalassiosira sp., Pseudo-nitzschia pungens in spring, Leptocylindrus danicus, Guinardia striata in early summer, Cheatoceros cirvisetus, Ch. decipiens in early autumn and Skeletonema costatum -ls (like species), Pn. pungens in autumn. Phytoplankton cell density fluctuated with an annual mean of $48cells{\cdot}mL^{-1}$ between the lowest value of $1.8cells{\cdot}mL^{-1}$ in early autumn and the highest value of $240cells{\cdot}mL^{-1}$ in spring. According to the cluster analysis, the phytoplankton community of the UMRA was characterized by the nutrient supply from land side and water movement as current.

  • Cross-talk artifacts occur in two adjacent groups of axial imaging of lesions lumbar 4-5 and sacrum 1 in lumbar spine MRI. This causes problems in reading lesions in areas corresponding to the posterior vertebra. In this study, we are going to completely remove the cross-talk artifacts through optimal concatenation TR. The region of interested were measured by averaging them into fat (ROI1), erector spinal muscle(lateral tract: iliocostalis lumborum muscle) (ROI2), erector spinal muscle(lateral tract: longissimus muscle) (ROI3), and spinous process (ROI4). The mean signal intensity (SI) was 163.43 ± 25.08 at C4 for ROI1, ROI 2 and ROI 3 at C6, 67.89 ± 11.75 and 69.99 ± 10.91 and ROI4 at C5, respectively (p<0.000). The mean signal to noise ratio (SNR) was 135.45 ± 35.90, 56.92 ± 15.90, 58.77 ± 15.59, and 54.91 ± 118.95 for SNR 1, 2, 3 and 4 (p<0.000). The contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) was CNR1 78.52 ± 24.11, CNR2 was 76.67 ± 24.38 and CNR3 was 80.54 ± 26.33 in concatenation 6, respectively (p<0.000). The SNR, CNR, and the most efficient concatenation TR value over time are 6, and it is considered to help reduce cross-talk artifact if this is applied to T1 axial images.

  • This study examines the effects of different types of bridge exercises on the thickness of trunk muscles through ultrasound fusion imaging on 32 students. The thickness of the internal oblique (IO), external oblique (EO), transverse abdominis (TrA), and multifidus (Mf) muscles were measured in three different bridge exercises. The exercises included a supine bridge exercise, which was performed on a fixed support surface (Exercise A), a gym ball bridge exercise (Exercise B), and a sling bridge exercise (Exercise C). There were significant differences among the three bridge exercises in the IO, TrA, and Mf muscles. The IO was thickest in Exercise B followed by Exercise A and C. In contrast, the TrA and the Mf muscles were thickest in Exercise C followed by Exercise A and B. Therefore, the sling bridge exercise may be a more effective method of enhancing trunk muscle thickness than the exercises performed in other positions. Until recently, no previous studies had observed substantial changes in muscle thickness using ultrasound fusion imaging. This study suggests that sling bridge exercises contribute most to the activation of trunk muscles. Therefore, the research can contribute to the prescription and application of bridge exercises in clinical practices.

  • This study conducted uniaxial tension tests on D10, D19, D29, and D35 SD400 steel-grade rebar and evaluated the strain distributions and necking regions to provide basic data for resolving differences between evaluation methods. Owing to the limitations of the existing measurement methods, this study conducted detailed evaluations of the strain of the rebar and necking regions using image processing, which is almost limitless on the measurement range and can easily distinguish measurement regions. The strain was concentrated at the region where necking occurred when the rebar approached its ultimate strength, which was successfully confirmed through image processing. The correlation between the length of the necking region and the diameter of the rebar could be analyzed by evaluating the necking region that occurs during the ultimate behavior of the rebar. According to the results, the length of the necking region is around 1.5~2.5 times the diameter of the rebar.

  • EAS (electronic article surveillance) systems have increased rapidly for article surveillance. In this paper, the strength of the EMF (electromagnetic fields) of EAS systems were measured. Pacemaker and ICD were investigated for inappropriate response resulting from EM (electromagnetic) EAS systems. The strength of EMF and the response of pacemaker and ICD were measured in the inner left side, outer right sides and the center of gates of the 6.3 kHz and 14.25 kHz EAS systems at a height of 130cm. As the result, EMF of the EAS system using 14.25 kHz was stronger than that of 6.3 kHz. AU interferences were observed only for 14.25 kHz, and the noisy ECG was found in three static positions on the pacemaker. The ICD resulted in noise reversion and VF (ventricular fibrillation) both static and moving positions by the EMP of 14.25 kHz EAS system. Therefore, it is necessary to post a message warning radiation of EMF from every EAS systems and possible risk of pacemakers and ICDs.

  • Recently, people are increasingly interested in horizontal directional drilling (HDD) to construct oil and gas pipeline and utility pipeline in the urban area as one of trenchless methods. One of major issues during the HDD is the collapse of borehole, which may be the potential causes of ground collapse. This study investigated the effect of mud pressure on the borehole stability, using finite element analysis. Since the borehole is being drilled with a certain angle, three dimensional analysis should be performed. The borehole stability was examined by applying two different types of mud pressures, i.e., uniform and non-uniform, to the exterior surface of borehole. The results show that the high mud pressure at the beginning of drilling, i.e., at shallow depth, causes the borehole collapse, whereas the borehole was stable even at high mud pressure as the drilling depth increases. It can be said that the determination of maximum mud pressure is strongly related to the drilling depth.

  • This study is about a section where underground water level occurs at the underground 5m depth by the excavation of the ground, as a stream is adjacent to a excavation section of High Speed Railway ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$ Station construction sections and a reservoir being always full of water is located at the left side of the construction section. Therefore this test is executed for the design and construction of buoyance anchors able to permanently prevent buoyance by the underground water level at working and for the stable construction and permanent smooth maintenance of structures. In this test, bar type anchors are divided according to their length and standard to execute test-anchor test, and In spot test, 9 test-anchors test, proof test to construction process, suitability test and acceptance test are executed 4 times to 9 test-anchors by dividing anchors according to the length of permanent anchor, the outer diameter of bar and boring diameter. Standard motion characteristic centering on load transmission and break mechanism of bar-type anchors for the prevention of buoyance will be showed in the thesis.

  • Edible flowers are harvested at the full bloom stage and distributed without floral stems, which makes the flower quality deteriorated quickly. Thereby, this study was carried out for selection of effective storage film at room temperature during the distribution of edible flowers. Edible flowers, snapdragon (Antirrhinum majus), pot-marigold (Calendula officinalis), sweet violet (Viola odorata), clove pink (Dianthus caryophyllus), wild pansy (Viola tricolor), nasturtium (Tropaeolum majus) were used to select the effective storage film at room temperature during the distribution, polyethylene (PE) film (0.03 mm), polypropylene (PP) film (0.03 mm). PP (LF10) film packing was very effective for longer shelf life for sweet violet, clove pink, and wild pansy. But, there were little different for pot-marigold and nasturtium. Wilting at sweet violet, clove pink, and wild pansy, and petal-soft rot and color break at nasturtium were appeared. Browning and rot were appeared to snapdragon.
