  • A wheeled armored vehicle is a military vehicle that has been developed to enhance combat capabilities and mobility for the army. The wheeled armored vehicle has a high center of gravity, and it operates on unpaved and sloped roads. Therefore, this vehicle has a high risk of rollover crashes. To design the interior of the military vehicle, the crew's safety during rollover crashes is an important factor. However, actual vehicle tests for design are extremely expensive. In this paper, nonlinear dynamic analysis is performed to simulate the rollover crashes and the passenger injury is assessed for a wheeled armored vehicle. The scope of this research is the rollover condition, FE modeling of the wheeled armored vehicle and the dummy, arrangement of dummies, assessment of passenger injuries, and simulation model for rollover crashes.

  • Yaw-checking and course-keeping ability in IMO's ship manoeuvrability standards is reviewed from the viewpoint cf sole navigation Three kinds of virtual series-ships, which have different course instability, are taken as test models. The numerical simulation on Z-test is carried out in order to examine the correlation between known manoeuvrability in spiral characteristics and various kinds of overshoot angle. Then simulator experiments are executed with series-ships in a curoed, narrow waterway by six operators(five active pilots and one ex-captain) in order to examine the correlation between known manoeuvrability and degree of manoeuvring difficulty. IMO criteria for yaw-checking and course-keeping ability are discussed and revised criteria are proposed.

  • In this study, underwater behaviors of negative buoyant body and positive buoyant body, which are ejected from a platform, are compared through eject test and simulation. CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) method is used to calculate the hydrodynamic derivatives of negative buoyant body with varied hull. Hydrodynamic derivatives that cannot be calculated with CFD are used with the same values of base shape. The pitch angles of test data are much bigger than those of simulated data, and the reason is supposed to be the trailing air effect. A more accurate simulation is possible via modified force modeling which reflects this phenomenon. The underwater behaviors of positive buoyant body and negative buoyant body are somewhat different with each other at the same eject condition, but it may not be a problem in the view of operation.

  • In this paper, advanced evacuation analysis simulation on a passenger ship is performed. Velocity based model has been implemented and used to calculate the movement of the individual passengers under the evacuation situation. The age and gender of each passenger are considered as the factors of walking speed. Flocking algorithm is applied for the passenger's group behavior. Penalty walking velocity is introduced to avoid collision between the passengers and obstacles, and to prevent the position overlap among passengers. Application of flocking algorithm and penalty walking velocity to evacuation simulation is verified through implementation of the 11 test problems in IMO (International Maritime Organization) MSC (Maritime Safety Committee) Circulation 1238.

  • Mathematical model of maneuvering motion for a Mobile Harbor is established and versatile applications to the special situations of maneuvering are attempted. The Mobile Harbor in this research has twin Azipod thruster and twin bow thruster. In order to predict the maneuverability of Mobile Harbor, a mathematical model was developed on the basis of MMG model, and some model test results were adopted for the simulation of Mobile Harbor. As a result, the turning motions of the Mobile Harbor were successfully calculated. and the optimal berthing system was completed.

  • In this paper, high-speed ,large-capacity ATM switching-chip is developed by MCM technology. MCM technology is suited for light-weight portable communications, mobile computing, high-frequency applications. For test of the developed MCM switching-chips, the simulating model is made by VHDL code of previously developed chip and input-output values of modeling pattern are obtained through the simulation. After the pattern values in chip-test machine are inserted , their results are compared with the simulation results. The design in this paper is simulated by synopsys design tool using SUN workstation and functions of chip is measured by TRILLIUM machine. Simulated and measured results have been compared, showing close agreement. Last, the MCM technique presented in this paper will provide useful insight into future designs.

  • The heterogeneity of hydraulic conductivity of Metropolitan Waste Landfill is analized by using geostatistical methods and the contaminant transport analysis is performed by using heterogeneous hydraulic conductivity. The hydraulic conductivity data are obtained from laboratory pressurized permeability tests and the insitu, Slug test. Geostatistical methods used in this analysis are Ordinary Kriging and conditional simulation. It is concluded that the heterogeneities of hydraulic conductivity obtained from conditional simulation are greater than those from Ordinary Kriging analysis. The movement of the contaminant on the hydraulic conductivity with greater heterogeneity obtained from conditional simulation is faster than that observed in Ordinary Kriging analysis.

  • As computer industry has been rapidly developed since 1980's, it has been highly increasing to use M&S. The use of M&S can reduce development cost, time to market, and so on, and using it we can get the results of experiments which are impossible to test in real environments. But there is an important precondition on the dependability of M&S which is being developed or used. In this paper, We introduce the Key concepts of VV&A, and so forth, and We finally present the DM&S VV&A application and promotion method.
