A pile is a type of medium for constructing superstructures in weak geotechnical conditions. A pretensioned spun high-strength concrete (PHC) pile is composed of high-strength concrete with a specified strength greater than 80 MPa. Therefore, it has advantages in resistance to axial and bending moments and quality control and management since it is manufactured in a factory. However, the skin friction of a pile, which accounts for a large portion of the pile bearing capacity, is only approximated using empirical equations or standard penetration test (SPT) N-values. Particularly, there are some poor research results on the pile-soil interface under the seismic loads in Korea. Additionally, some studies do not consider geoenvironmental elements, such as groundwater pH values. This study performs sets of cyclic simple shear tests using submerged concrete specimens for 1 month to consider pH values of groundwater and clay specimens composed of kaolinite to generate a pile-soil interface. 0.2 and 0.4 MPa of normal stress conditions are considered in the case of pH values. The disturbed state concept is employed to express the dynamic behavior of the interface, and the disturbed function parameters are newly suggested. Consequently, the largest disturbance increase under basic conditions is observed, and an early approach to the failure under low normal stress conditions is presented. The disturbance function parameters are also suggested to express this disposition quantitatively.
To investigate the engineering characteristics of crushed rockfill material, the large-scaled triaxial tests have been carried out, The rpckfill is made from the greywacke, and the 3 parallel gradations with different maximum particle size(dmu=38.1mm, 25.4mm and 19.1mm) were designed for the test. The dimension of the specimen is 300mm in diameter and 600mm in height, and the applied confining stress varied from 5t/$51.6^{\circ}$ to 60t/$51.6^{\circ}$. The test results show that the influence of the maximum particle size on the stress -strain r$51.6^{\circ}\; to\; 40.5^{\circ}$ when the confining stress increases from 5t/$51.6^{\circ}$ to 60t/$51.6^{\circ}$ The hyperbolic parameter values estimated from the test result for rockfill are much different from the recommended values by Duncan et. at(1980) for GW and GP material, especially in the $\phi$ ad K-values.
This study examined the utility of the acoustic features of vowels as cues for the place of articulation of Korean nasal consonants. In the acoustic analysis, spectral and temporal parameters were measured at the 25%, 50%, and 75% time points in the vowels neighboring nasal consonants in samples extracted from a spontaneous Korean speech corpus. Using these measurements, linear discriminant analyses were performed and classification accuracies for the nasal place of articulation were estimated. The analyses were applied separately for vowels following and preceding a nasal consonant to compare the effects of progressive and regressive coarticulation in terms of place of articulation. The classification accuracies ranged between approximately 50% and 60%, implying that acoustic measurements of vowel intervals alone are not sufficient to predict or classify the place of articulation of adjacent nasal consonants. However, given that these results were obtained for measurements at the temporal midpoint of vowels, where they are expected to be the least influenced by coarticulation, the present results also suggest the potential of utilizing acoustic measurements of vowels to improve the recognition accuracy of nasal place. Moreover, the classification accuracy for nasal place was higher for vowels preceding the nasal sounds, suggesting the possibility of higher anticipatory coarticulation reflecting the nasal place.
The crystallographic and magnetic properties of the system of $Fe_{1-x}Co_x$(x=0.2 and 0.4) prepared by microwave arc-melting with the maximum power of 3.5 kW and a iron-foil with thickness of 25 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ have been studied by the methods of X-ray diffraction and the measurement of the magnetic hysteresis using the vibrating sample magnetometer at room temperature. The samples were prepared in three different ways: First, pellet form pressed under the pressure of 9,000 N/$\textrm{cm}^2$. Second, the sheet cold rolled. Third, thin sheet treated with the temperature of 90$0^{\circ}C$. The X-ray diffraction pattern of the sample prepared by the first method shows that the crystal structure of the sample is bcc as same as that of Fe with a good uniformity. The iron-foil has the coercivity of 43 Oe and the initial slope of magnetization of 0.328 emu/gOe. The coervicity and magnetization of the sample prepared by the second method increased as the Co content increased. But the initial slop of the magnetization decreased as the Co content increased. This means that the displacement of domain wall is suppressed by the increases of coercivity as the Co content increased. The saturation magnetization of the samples made by the third method increased. On the other hand, the coercivity of these samples decreased. The increase of saturation magnetization of the samples seems to be related to the changes in X-ray intensity after heat treatment. Also some magnetic parameters of the samples were calculated by using a simple model and compared with other values.
Basic frictional angle is a parameter that can estimate shear strength of rock, and is a design parameter employed in slope stability analysis. Basic frictional angle generates various results in accordance with mineral composition, apart from rock surface roughness itself. This paper describes the correlation of basic frictional angle and mineral composition. The basic frictional angle is measured with the aid of the modified tilt testing apparatus, and its reliability is improved by the statistical method. Also, mineral composition is identified through the photographic analysis on rock specimen, and verified through the thin section analysis.
The thermal degradation behavior and reliability analysis were investigated using dynamic thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and accelerated degradation test (ADT) to characterize the dynamic parameters related to thermal degradation of plastic meterials for household electric appliances. In addition, the weathering of the plastic were performed by ADT using Xenon uc, and the color difference of the samples after ADT were measured with Color Eye 3010 specoophotometer. he activation energy for thermal degradation of the samples increased with increasing the rate of weight loss. The Kim-Park method was found to be more effective analysis in describing thermal degradation of plastic meterials. Plastic materials were very sensitive to ultra-violet rays in faster degradation.

This study aims at investigating the undrained behavior of the normally consolidated clay foundation using single hardening constitutive model based on elasticity and plasticity theories. The specimen employed was sampled at Mooan near the down stream of Young San river and remolded into consolidation apparatus. 11 soil parameters for the model was determined from simple tests such as isotropic compression and consolidation undrained triaxial compression tests. FEM program to predict the undrained behavior of the foundation was developed and back analysis was performed to verify prediction ability of the FEM program. Finally plate load test on the 2-dimensional model foundation was carried out in order to compare numerical analysis and observed values on the foundation.

In this study, the single hardening model with stress history-dependent plastic potential, which has been most recently proposed based on the critical state soil mechanics and needs few model parameters, was verified for the normally, lightly, and heavily over-consolidated clayey specimens. The triaxial compression tests were strictly conducted. The predictions using the single hardening model generally agree with the measurement. The discrepancy exists on its main focusing on the principal stress rotation; however, the plastic work H and the principal stress rotation angle ${\beta}$ are found to be effective indicators of loading history for the plastic potential function of the stress path dependent materials.

In this research, a lot of triaxial test results (CID) are analyzed to study the curvature characteristics of failure envelope of sand and parametric relationship between shear strength and state parameter by Been and Jefferies. In the conventional triaxial tests, correction for the change of sectional area of a sample and for membrane influence is essential especially in order to determine critical state (or steady state) condition more correctly. Based on the test results, a model to express the shear strength of fine sand as a function of density and stress level is presented and curvature characteristics of shear failure envelope and parametric relationship between state parameter and shear strength parameters are evaluated.
