A Study on Establishing a Digital Twin Model for Automated Layout Robots (먹매김 시공 자동화 로봇의 디지털 트윈 모델 구축 방안 연구)

  • In the process of developing an industrial robot, various simulations should be conducted to evaluate the driving, movement, and performance of the robot. Space and time constraints exist to manufacture existing robots and implement various simulations, and efficiency is reduced due to high costs. To solve this problem, many simulations can be conducted by implementing the same movement and working environment as the real environment in virtual reality using digital twin technology. This study proposes a process for establishing a digital twin model of automated layout robots. Using the digital twin model, it is expected that it will not only evaluate the hardware performance of the robot in the future, but also verify the robot's algorithms such as motion planning and work process, identify and solve potential problems in advance, and prevent problems caused by software.

  • Construction automation and robotics are being introduced as an efficient alternative to overcome troubles caused by lack of skilled labors. To accomplish effective automated construction system, design for automation(DFA) should be performed in parallel with the development of core technologies such as control and sensing of robots. In Korea, the development of robotic crane-based construction automation(RCA) system is progressing, and the research group has recently developed newly designed steel joint to improve the efficiency of the system. However, performance of the new system should be examined prior to its application on construction sites. Therefore, This study analyzed performance of the new steel frame focused on its constructibility by carrying out mock-up test. As a result, the steel frame satisfied the standards of allowable stress and deflection. It also enables to reduce the time for installation.

  • Layout work for building structures requires high precision to construct structural elements in the correct location. However, the accuracy and precision of the layout position are affected by the worker's skill, and productivity can be reduced when there is information loss and error. To solve this problem, it is necessary to automate the overall layout operation and introduce information technology, and layout process automation using construction robots can be an effective means of doing this. This study develops a prototype of an automated layout robot for building structures and evaluates its basic performance. The developed robot is largely composed of driving, marking, sensing, and control units, and is designed to enable various driving methods, and movement and rotation of the marking unit in consideration of the environment on structural work. The driving and marking performance experiments showed satisfactory performance in terms of driving distance error and marking quality, while the need for improvement in terms of some driving methods and marking precision was confirmed. Based on the results of this study, we intend to continuously improve the robot's performance and establish an automation system for overall layout work process.

  • Complexity and Massive is the modem trend of construction project. The lack of timely and accurate construction data is the main cause for the lack productivity increases seen in other industries. Because information is essential in the construction production process, the lack of it will cause workers to stay idle, build the wrong thing that has to be redone, become involved in an accident or simply waste their time doing non-productive work. To aid construction automation and improve its productivity, RFID technology system should be developed. As a result of that, this study analyzes the status of RFID technologies in construction project and suggest advanced construction method. USN and RTLS system is analyzed in this study RFID system also can be used in construction management, material management, quality control, safety management and human resource management.

  • In this study, development of 3D software for automated formwork design was conducted to achieve optimization and reduction of labor for temporary work. Through the literature review, the current technical level was identified and the required functions of 3D software for automated formwork design were derived. The 3D software should be developed with the aim of automating 3D design, improving construction quality and utilizing the Internet of Things. As a preliminary step to develop 3D software, the prototype demo version was developed to implement 3D design automation function, which confirm the possibility of 3D software development.

  • Drone is a suitable equipment for capturing images of cracks at construction sites based on its efficient mobility and high-resolution image acquisition capabilities. In this study, drone was used to acquire indoor construction sites framework images and deep learning technology was applied to detect cracks and measure width, and size. Finally, the usability of the process was verified based on the indoor crack monitoring system.

  • Recently automatic construction system is attended in construction domains because of the increase of aged workers and the shortage of the experienced. The research level of automatic construction system in Korea will soon attain to the stage of full automation like Japan, which is the highest level in the world. However, in the fully automated level, it is difficult for the automatic system to operate flexibly like the human in various work condition. In the result, the higher the level of automation in the system is, the less efficient the automatic system work in the site. So, it's necessary the development material design to compensate for the flexibility shortage of the system. Therefore, this study proposes the development process to material design suitable for automatic construction system using QFD technique.

  • The adoption of smart construction technology in the construction industry is progressing rapidly. By utilizing smart construction technologies such as BIM (Building Information Modeling), drones, artificial intelligence, big data, and Internet of Things technology, it has the effect of lowering the accident rate at the construction site and shortening the construction period. In order to introduce a digital twin platform for construction site management, real-time construction site management is possible in real time by constructing the same virtual space. The digital twin virtual space construction method collects and processes data from the entire construction cycle and visualizes it using a 3D model file. In this paper, we introduce a modeling automation technique that constructs an efficient digital twin space by automatically generating 3D modeling that composes a digital twin space based on 3D spatial data.

  • 본 논문에서는 선체 설계 시에 의장 장비의 설치를 위해서 시공되는 의장홀이 생성되는 과정 및 이에 관련해 업무부서 간에 발생되는 각종 프로세스에 관해서 알아본다. 의장홀의 설계는 설치되어야 하는 의장 장비와 이미 설계되어 있는 선체 구조물을 바탕으로 의장 부서에서 이루어지지만, 선체 구조물에 직접 시공은 각종 제한 조건의 검토가 필수적이며 충분한 고려 후에 선체 부서에서 수행된다. 의장 설비의 특성상 해당 작업은 설계 및 생산과정에서 빈번하고 반복적으로 발생되고 선체 설계에 있어서 큰 병목현상을 발생시킨다. 본 논문에서는 의장홀 시공에 필요한 다양한 프로세스와 정보의 흐름을 자동화하여 조선 설계 및 생산의 효율성을 향상시키는데 기여 하고자 한다.
