A Study on the Development of Active Fast RFID tag Detection and Collision Prevention System (능동형 고속 RFID 태그 감지 및 충돌 예방 시스템 개발에 관한 연구)

  • This paper proposed a new transponder detection method to reduce tag recognition time and simplify anti-collision process in RFID systems. In conventional systems, a transponder in detectable area is passively recognized by responding to a reader command. In addition, if there are multiple tags in the area, a collision between tags occurs by responding at the same time to a command and anti-collision process begins. In the proposed method, tags are actively recognized without any command from a reader which results to reducing a tag recognition time and simplifying anti-collision process. To compare transponder recognition time, the process of transponder recognition in conventional systems is analysed. A circuit to detect transponder directly is developed and antenna voltage variation of a reader in the appearance of multiple transponders is analysed for the implementation of the proposed method.

  • I-Business providers and customers have chosen the service availability as the most important technical parameter which should be included in their SLA to succeed in their business. This means that web Service availability management is crucial to the web-based service providers. Application availability is originally defined as a measure of the fraction of time during a defined period when the service provided is deemed to be better than user expectation of service performance. But, because most web service availability measurement tools simply monitor disconnected state, they do not satisfy user's expectation of extended availability concept. In this paper, We propose the web service availability measurement method which supports extended availability concept. It takes account of performance degradation of web service based on response time, and determines what is the cause of unavailability of the service. We developed a measurement tool, WebSerAvail.

Coarse grained Simulation Model for Web Application Performance Analysis (웹 애플리케이션 성능 분석을 위한 대략적 시뮬레이션 모델)

  • The web has been evolving as an indispensable part of our lives since Berners Lee introduced the first web sever and browser in 1990. From the web end user's point of view, the response time is a matter of concern. Moreover the throughput is an important factor to consider for the system manager's point as well. It's not easy to estimate the performance of a web application because it depends on various elements comprising the whole operational environment of the Internet from networking, client and server computing powers, DBMS and OS capabilities, to application itself. This paper suggests a coarse grained simulation model for web application performance estimation based on the data measured by Buch and Pentkowski [1] and the analytical model proposed by Gunther [2]. The result of the simulation model almost coincides with the measured data and estimates the performance of a new environment.

  • Performance evaluation of RC bridge piers repaired by CFRP has been investigated. For this purpose, simplified CFRP stress-strain relationship has been proposed and use is made of inelastic time-dependent element developed by authors. Static time-history analysis has been carried out for a RC bridge pier repaired with CFRP. Analytical predictions shows a relatively good correlation with experimental results. In addition, in case of dynamic time-history analysis, effect of the CFRP repair intervention on shear has been evaluated. Comparative analysis reveals that a repaired member produces increased characteristics due to the repair intervention and may affect the overall response of a whole structure. Moreover, effect of shear significantly affect strength, stiffness and displacement response of the pier. In all, It is believed that the present analytical model and scheme enable a healthy evaluation of strength, stiffness and displacement capacities of a RC bridge pier being damaged and repaired.

Application Performance Evaluation in Main Memory Database System (메인메모리 데이터베이스시스템에서의 어플리케이션 성능 평가)

  • The main memory DBMS is operated which the contents of the table that resides on a disk at the same time as the drive is in the memory. However, because the main memory DBMS stores the data and transaction log file using the disk file system, there are a limit to the speed at which the CPU accesses the memory. In this paper, I evaluated the performance through analysis of the application side difference the technology that has been implemented in Altibase system of main memory DBMS and Sybase of disk-based DBMS. When the application performance of main memory DBMS is in comparison with the disk-based DBMS, the performance of main memory DBMS was outperformed 1.24~3.36 times in the single soccer game, and was outperformed 1.29~7.9 times in the soccer game / special soccer. The result of sale transaction response time showed a fast response time of 1.78 ~ 6.09 times.

Fast Switching of a Polymer-networked Twisted Nematic Liquid Crystal Cell (폴리머 네트워크가 형성된 TN 액정셀의 고속응답 특성)

  • We propose a method to enhance the response time of a twisted nematic liquid crystal (TN-LC) cell using an anisotropic polymer. Polymer networks are formed by the phase separation between a LC and a UV-curable polymer. A TN-LC cell is exposed to UV light after the mixture of LC and anisotropic polymer is injected into the TN-LC cell. As a result, turn-off time of a TN-LC cell can be decreased remarkably without any loss of the transmittance. The turn-off time of a TN-LC cell with pure LC was 16 ms, but those of polymer networked TN-LC cells were 12, 11, and 9 ms when the concentration of the polymer was 3, 5, and 10 wt%, respectively. Moreover, by virtue of the polymer network, the backflow effect and the delay time generated during the turn-off process disappeared.

  • In this paper, an output-capacitorless, low-dropout (LDO) regulator is designed, which consumes $4.5{\mu}A$ quiescent current. Proposed LDO regulator is realized using two amplifier for good load regulation and fast response time, which provide high gain, high bandwidth, and high slew rate. In addition, a one-shot current boosting circuit is added for current control to charge and discharge the parasitic capacitance at the pass transistor gate. As a result, response time is improved during load-current transition. The designed circuit is implemented through a $0.11-{\mu}m$ CMOS process. We experimentally verify output voltage fluctuation of 260mV and recovery time of $0.8{\mu}s$ at maximum load current 200mA.

  • SWAT 모형에서는 토양수량을 고려하여 유출곡선지수법에 따라 지표유출량과 침투량을 계산하고, 계산된 침투량이 토양수대가 받을 수 있는 최대용량인 토양수 최대보수용량(soil water capacity)을 초과할 경우에는 그 초과분을 강제적으로 토양수량에 더해지도록 처리하고 있다. 즉, 초과침투량이 연직 아래로만 유입되는 것으로 간주하고 있다. 이러한 방식은 경사가 매우 완만한 경우에는 적합하다고 할 수 있으나, 국내 유역에서와 같이 비교적 유역 경사가 급한 경우에는 지표유출량이 작게 계산될 수 있으며 특히 집중호우시 강우에 대한 유출 응답이 둔감하게 모의되어 홍수기 큰 강우로 인해 급격하게 증가하는 유출량을 잘 모사하지 못하게 되는 경우가 발생한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 홍수기 큰 강우에 대해서 유출량이 민감하게 반응할 수 있도록 초과침투량 재분배 모듈($\underline{R}$edistributing $\underline{EX}$cessive $\underline{INF}$iltration module, 이하 SWAT-REXINF)을 개발하였다. 이 모듈은 토양층의 보수능을 초과하는 침투량 처리 방식을 개선한 것으로 지표유출의 집중시간과 토양수의 침루 유하시간의 상대적인 크기에 따라 초과침투량을 분배하여 지표유출량과 침투량에 할당하는 방식을 취하고 있다. 개발 모듈 SWAT-REXINF을 기 개발한 시간가중평균 유출곡선지수법에 의한 지표유출계산법과 접합-분리 방식의 토양층 구조화 기법 등의 유출계산 개선 기법과 접목하여 그 효과를 충주댐 유역에 대해 분석하였다. 시간가중평균 유출곡선지수법에 의한 지표유출계산법과 접합-분리 방식의 토양층 구조화 기법 등 다른 유출 개선 기법과 혼용하여 적용할 경우에는 지표유출량이 약 2배 증가, 첨두유량은 20~50% 증가하는 등 개선 효과가 매우 크게 나타났다. 모형 개선으로 인해서 강우량에 대한 유출량의 응답 민감도를 증가시켜 유출수문곡선의 증감을 보다 용이하게 모의할 수 있고 정확도 또한 높일 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

Nonlinear Seismic Analysis of Steel Buildings Considering the Stiffnesses of the Foundation-Soil System (기초지반강성을 고려한 철골 건축구조물의 비선형 지진해석)

  • The seismic responses of a building are affected by the base soil conditions. In this study, linear time-history seismic analysis and nonlinear pushover static seismic analysis were performed to estimate the base shear forces of 3-, 5-, and 7-story steel buildings, considering the rigid and soft soil conditions. Foundation soil stiffness, based on the equivalent static stiffness formula, is used for the damper, one of the Link elements in SAP 2000. The base shear forces of the steel buildings, estimated through time-history analysis using the general-purpose structural-analysis program of SAP 2000, were compared with those calculated using the domestic seismic design code, the UBC-97 design response spectrum. and pushover static nonlinear analysis. The steel buildings designed for gravity and wind loads showed elastic responses with a moderate earthquake of 0.11 g, while the elastic soft-soil layer increased the displacement and the base shear force of the buildings due to soil-structure interaction and soil amplification. Therefore, considering the characteristics of the soft-soil layer, it is more reasonable to perform an elastic seismic analysis of a building's structure during weak or moderate earthquakes.

Dynamic Time Constant Based High-Performance Insulation Resistance Calculation Method (동적 시정수 기반 고성능 절연 저항 계산 기법)

  • This paper presents a new insulation resistance calculation technique to prevent electric shock and fire accidents due to the dielectric breakdown in the primary insulation section of the IT ground system. The solar power generation market is growing rapidly due to the recent expansion of renewable energy and energy storage systems, but as the insulation is destroyed and fire accidents frequently occur, a device for monitoring the insulation resistance state is indispensable to the IT grounding method. Compared to the conventional algorithm that use a method of multiplying a time constant to a fixed coefficient, the proposed insulation resistance calculation method has a fast response time and high accuracy over a wide insulation resistance range by applying a different coefficient according to the values of the insulation impedance. The proposed dynamic time constant based insulation resistance calculation technique reduces the response time by up to 39.29 seconds and improves the error rate by 20.11%, compared to the conventional method.
