The purpose of the study was to reveal the effects of visual organizer types and cognitive styles in electronic text understanding. 126 graduate students were divided into a field-dependent group and a field-independent group, and then assigned to two different types of web- based instruction programs which included visual organizers of 'reduction' type and 'abstraction' type. Regarding the comprehension of contents, there were no significant effects of visual organizer types and cognitive styles. However, it was revealed that there were significant interaction effects between visual organizer types and cognitive styles on the awareness of structure in electronic texts. That is to say, while Type 2 ('abstraction' type) was more effective to field-dependent learners, Type 1 ('reduction' type) was more effective to field-independent learners in awareness of structure in electronic texts.

The interaction effects of the cognitive style and the presentation order of learning material was explored in the study. Visualizers performed better when the graphic information was presented prior to the verbal information, whereas verbalizers did better when the verbal information was presented prior to the graphic information. The results of the present research have practical implication of personalized multimedia design based on the learner's cognitive style. The results also have suggested that the cognitive load of a multimedia material can be varied depending on the compatibility of the cognitive style and the material.

The objective of this study is to systematically understand the swiss graphic style and examine the design ideology of designers and the visual features, with the focus on the posters that played the largest role in the formation and settlement of the swiss graphic style. Although through other visual designs such as editorial design, from the outside beyond posters, the swiss graphic style has evolved to exert a large influence around the world, based on the posters that served as the main medium for expression by designers and that were used the most in instigating the public, this study aims to cast light on the swiss graphic style, which has become recognized as the textbook of the graphic design around the world since the mid 20th century. First, the study casts light on the meaning of the creation of the graphic style through the background and the formation process, aiming to examine the visual features of the swiss graphic style and how they are integrated through the posters of Swiss designers. The personal activities and efforts of individual designers contributed significantly to the formation and development of a certain design style; however this study intends to identify the other equally important elements: the underlying social and cultural influence, the legacy of previous design styles and ideologies, the collective enthusiasm of designers, and the active progress of experimental research.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the concept concerned with Earth's rotation as passed by tenth graders whose interest in earth's rotation and learning styles were varied. To examine student's interest in the Earth's rotation, 4students (visual-verbal learning style student with much interest, visual learning style student with much interest, visual learning style student with little interest, and verbal learning style student with little interest) were chosen for study. Personal interview was used for this study. To probe students' conception in varied ways, they were allowed to make gesture and draw pictures through data collection process, except for interviews. And the data were analyzed one by one. The result of this study were as follows: First, the student with much interest was faster to answer the questions about Earth's rotation than the one with little interest. Also he comprehended better and was able to explain reasons coherently. Second, there was little difference according to student's learning style. Third, one of the repeated misconception was direction. For thinking that is the right side is the east side, students have misconception that the sun goes from right to left and stars in north sky move clock-wise.

The purpose of this study was to examine the status of health-related lifestyle according to the degree of disability, length of work, and type of work in massage therapists with visual impairment. A total of 236 visually impaired massage therapists who participated in refresher training in 2015 were participated in this study. Health-related lifestyle in this population was evaluated using validated health-related lifestyle questionnaire. Collected data were analyzed by $x^2$-testing using SPSS version 22.0. There were differences in regular breakfast and snack consumption according to the degree of disability. Massage therapists with shorter length of work more smoked and less consumed breakfast than massage therapists with longer length of work. Lastly, massage therapists who are working at massage parlor were more smoked and less regularly slept, consumed breakfast, and regularly rested than massage therapists who are working in other places. Collectively, degree of disability, length of work, and type of work impact health-related life-style in massage therapists with visual impairment.

This study attempts to create an analytical framework of the transformation and transmission of knowledge by teachers to students. I focuses on the assertion that the cognitive thinking of a teacher is reflected in his use of mathematical language. Mathematical language is one of the critical elements of communicating mathematical knowledge to students. I examined the cognitive teaching style of different teachers as expressed in their use of mathematical language. An analytical framework of Mathematics Teaching styles was created integrating thinking factors of each visual and analytic style into 5 categories. After that, I regarding the teaching style of mathmatics teachers places its significance not on which teaching style is right or wrong but on identifying the strong and weak points of the teaching styles through actual analysis. With the help of this analytical framework, I conducted an analysis on the videotaped classes and found that the teachers were not biased to one side but in fact there were teachers who demonstrated visual, analytic or mixed teaching style. Therefore, I concludes that math teachers can analyze their teaching styles and improve them through the analytical framework provided in these findings.

This study is purposed to find the transition of the perspective connected with visual modality. The perspective based on Greek optics and euclidean geometry and rediscovered in Renaissance represents the object according to the particular moment and the point of view, is a principal fact which affect architecture, the form of a city and the spatial organization and symbolizes an ideal of the times. It embodied perception which treats the space rationally on the basis of realism and became visual modality based on the separation of the seeing subject and the world of the object. The point of view became one with the vanishing point which made up the shape and after Renaissance for four hundred years a straight line, a right angle and a circle got to be favorite geometrical choices in architecture. A fixed point of view of the subject is getting to change and break up fundamentally by the new visual technologies of the modem times.

This study finds out the types and meanings of the cartoon style in digital game. First, this study suggests two types, visual sign and aural sign. The cartoon style of visual sign signify denotative means, that helps user's instant gaming experience. Meanwhile the cartoon style of aural sign strengthens user's identity and immersion. Also it delivers background story of the game. These significations implies the semiological meanings of the cartoon style in digital game, and this study comprehensively handles aspects of the user experience in gaming world, too.

The present study identified dimensions of cognitive styles that were concerned with individual differences in cognitive processes. The results provided support for Robertson's [36] theory of cognitive processes that are independent of task. An individual's first or initial cognitive strategy may be consistent across different tasks and therefore considered their style. However, an individual's cognitive style may change after interacting with the task during a number of trials, and lead to a strategy that is particular to the task.

This research examined the effects of individual differences on visual discrimination skill teaming and its transfer to novel stimuli. Individual participants were categorized as having an analytic or holistic cognitive style, high or low working memory capacity, and high or low levels of rationality, experientiality, and adaptive decision-making styles. Participants received easy or difficult training for the serially presented discrimination task, and then transferred to novel discriminations. Training content interacted with cognitive style and working memory capacity to affect transfer accuracy performance, but individual differences in decision-making styles did not affect transfer performance. Results suggest individual differences should be taken into account when designing an interface for visual discrimination.
