A Study on the Humidity Sensing Properties of Crystalline Carbon Nitride Films (결정성 질화탄소막의 습도 감지특성에 관한 연구)

  • Crystalline carbon nitride films were attempted for an application of humidity sensors. The films were deposited on $Al_2$O$_3$substrate having intermigrated electrodes by reactive rf magnetron sputtering system. The film revealed a good humidity-resistance characteristics as well as humidity-capacitance ones in the humidity range of 10∼95 RH(%). Temperature dependence was also investigated. These results suggest that the carbon nitride film has a possibility for new humidity-sensitive material.

  • Humidity sensors using $TiO_2$ thin films were fabricated on the multi-electrode device by Sol-Gel method and their wettability, surface potential decays and humidity sensing characteristics were investigated. Contact angle of thin films was $28^{\cic}\;at\; 400^{\circ}C$ and surface potential decayed rapidly at $400^{\circ}C$. The specimen showed best humidity sensing characteristics at $400^{\circ}C$. From the results, they were confirmed that humidity sensing characteristics of thin films have connection with contact angle and surface potential decays.

  • Vanadium oxide thin films (VOx) have been deposited by RF magnetron sputtering from $V_2O_5$ target under different oxygen partial pressure ratios(0%, 10%) and substrate temperatures$(27^{\circ}C,\;400^{\circ}C)$. Crystallographic structure and morphology of the films are studied by XRD and SEM. Humidity-sensing properties of resistive sensors having interdigitated electrode structure are characterized through electrical conduction measurements. The films deposited at room temperature are amorphous whereas the ones deposited above foot are polycrystalline. The sensors show good response to humidity over 20%RH to 80%RH. Vanadium oxide thin films deposited with $0%O_2$ partial pressure at $400^{\circ}C$ exhibit greater sensitivity to humidity change than others.

  • Carbon nitride films were deposited on various substrates for humidity sensors with meshed electrode by reactive RF magnetron sputtering system. As the ratio of injected nitrogen was decreased, the sensitivity of sensor was increased. When the ratio of injected nitrogen was $50{\sim}70%$, the sample showed the best linearity. The sensor impedance changed from $95.4{\;}k{\Omega}$ to $2.1{\;}k{\Omega}$ in a relative humidity range of 5 % to 95 %. The humidity sensors based on silicon wafer revealed higher lineality and faster response than those of alumina or quartz substrates. The adsorption saturation time of the sample was about 80 sec, and its desorption time was about 90 sec.

  • This study was developed a computer-controlled automatic drying system. In order to control automatically the temperature, relative humidity weight of the sample, drying system with computer and connecting parts such as microcomputer, PC-Lab card, Op. Amp., and relay system were developed for controlling the heater, fan, humidifier and dehumidifier. Using this system, drying characteristic mechanism of ginseng were investigated. The increase of drying temperature decreased Hunter L value and increased a and b value. The hardness and shrinkage rate of white ginseng had a increasing tendency with the increase of drying temperature. Crude saponin content was not affected by drying temperature and relative humidity.

  • The aim of this paper is to establish the optimum fabrication condition of specimens, using the Vapor Deposition Polymerization Method(VDPM), which is one of modesto prepare functional organic thin films using a dry process, and to develop a thin film type humidity sensor which has good humidity sensitive characteristics. The inner part of the film became denser and roughness of the film surface eased as curing temperature increased so that thickness of the film could be made uniform. This also shows the appropriate curing temperature was $250^{\circ}C$. The basic structure of the humidity sensor is a parallel capacitor which consists of three layers of Aluminum/Polyimide/Aluminum. The result of SEM and AFM measurement shows that the thickness of PI thin films decreased and the refraction increased as curing temperature increased, which indicates that a capacitance-type humidity sensor utilizing polyimide thin film is fabricated on a glass substrate. The characteristics of fabricated samples were measured under various conditions, and the samples had linear characteristics in the range of 20-80 %RH, independent of temperature change, and low hysteresis characteristic.

Influence of particle size on sensing characteristics of hydrothermally treated nano-sized $SnO_2$ (수열합성법으로 제조한 나노 크기의 $SnO_2$ 입자 크기에 따른 반응 특성)

  • SnO$_2$를 모물질로 하는 가스센서는 n형 산화물 반도체로서 공기중의 산소의 흡탈착 및 전자의 수수에 의해 전기전도도의 변화로 특정 가스를 감지한다. 지금까지 반도체식 가스센서의 모물질로 가장 많이 연구되어 왔지만 아직도 선택성, 안정성 등 여러 가지 문제를 안고 있다. 그리고 개선방안으로 귀금속 촉매의 첨가 및 입자의 크기의 조절 등이 흔히 연구되어 왔다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 순수한 SnO$_2$ 를 이용하여 소결 온도 및 입자 크기에 의한 영향을 CO가스 및 수분에 대한 감도, 반응 시간을 통해 알아보았다. 수열 합성 및 침전 법으로 나노 크기의 SnO$_2$ 분말을 합성하여 스크린 인쇄법으로 후막 가스센서를 제조하였다 침전법에서 SnCl$_4$에 암모니아수로 pH=10.5로 적정하여 SnO$_2$ 분말을 얻었다. 그리고 입자 크기를 조절하기 위해 수열 합성 시 autoclave 내의 수열처리 온도를 100, 150, 20$0^{\circ}C$로 조절하여 SnO$_2$ 분말을 제조하고 입자 크기와 성분분석을 위해 XRD, SEM, TEM, BET 측정을 하였다. 그 결과 침전법으로 제조한 입자의 크기는 20nm 정도였으며 수열 처리한 SnO$_2$ 입자는 10nm이하의 미세한 입자를 얻을 수 있었다. 수열 합성 시 온도가 높아질수록 더 작은 입자 크기를 얻을 수 있었고 600, 7()0, 80$0^{\circ}C$ 열처리 후 입자성장이 침전법에 의한 SnO$_2$ 분말보다 더 작게 일어났다. 이렇게 제조한 나노크기의 SnO$_2$ 분말을 이용하여 습도 및 CO 가스에 대한 그 특실을 평가하였다. CO 20ppm에 대하여 40%정도의 감도를 보였으며 입자가 작아질수록 높은 감도를 보이는 것을 확인 할 수 있었다. 반면 CO 가스와 반응 후 회복 시 입자 의기가 작아질수록 회복이 늦어짐을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 15$0^{\circ}C$에서 습도에 대한 반응 후 회복시간을 조사해보니 같은 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 이것은 입자 필기가 작아질수록 많은 흡착 사이트를 제공함으로써 높은 감도를 가지지만 반면 다량의 흡착된 가스들이 탈착 하는데 더 많은 시간이 소요되었기 때문이다.

The Weather Characteristics of Frost Occurrence Days for Protecting Crops against Frost Damage (서리 피해 방지를 위한 서리 발생일의 기상 특성에 대한 연구)

  • The main objective of the study was to analyze the weather conditions of frost occurrence for protecting crops against frost damage in Korea. The primary data used for the analysis of meteorological characteristics of frost occurrence days are the airmass pattern, minimum temperature, grass minimum temperature, daily temperature range, relative humidity, minimum relative humidity, mean wind speed in autumn and spring. Frost often occurs when the migratory anticyclone passes the southwest of Korea. The importance of grass minimum temperature measurements for agricultural purposes has previously been recognized. The grass minimum thermometer is capable of detecting ground frosts which are often not recorded by the minimum thermometer. The minimum temperature of frost occurrence days is above $0^{\circ}C$ in the coastal area, but the grass minimum temperature of frost occurrence days is below $0^{\circ}C$ in the whole area. The daily temperature of frost occurrence days is about 9 to $12^{\circ}C$ in the coastal area and is over $14^{\circ}C$ in the inland area. The minimum relative humidity of frost occurrence days is about 30 to 50%. The mean wind speed of frost occurrence days is less than 2m/sec.

Humidity Sensing Characteristics of TiO2 Thin Films Fabricated by R.F.Sputtering Method (R.F.스퍼터링법에 의해 제작된 TiO2 박막의 습도감지특성)

  • $TiO_2$ thin films are fabricated using R.F.sputtering method. $TiO_2$ thin films are coated on $Al_2O_3$ substrate printed IDE(interdigitated electrode). Impedance of thin films decreases according to increase relative humidity and it increases according to decrease measuring frequency. When substrate temperature is room temperature, impedance of thin films is from 45.68[MHz] to 37.76[MHz] within the limits from 30[%RH] to 75[%RH] at 1[kHz]. Whereas when substrate temperature is 100[$^{\circ}C$], impedance of thin films is from 692[kHz] to 539[kHz] within the limits from 30[%RH] to 75[%RH] at 1[kHz]. Impedance variation of thin films is bigger in low frequency regions than in high frequency regions. When substrate temperature is 100[$^{\circ}C$], impedance of thin films is lower than that of room temperature.
