Strength model for blasted furnace slag mortar blended with sodium was investigated in this study. The main parameters of AAS (alkali activated slag) mortar were dosage of alkali activator, water to binder ratio (W/B), and aggregate to binder ratio (A/B). For evaluating the property related to the dosage of alkali activator, sodium carbonate ($Na_2CO_3$) of 4~8% was added to 4% dosage of sodium hydroxide (NaOH). W/B and A/B was varied 0.45~0.60 and 2.05~2.85, respectively. An alkali quality coefficient combining the amounts of main compositions of source materials and sodium oxide ($Na_2O$) in sodium hydroxide and sodium carbonate is proposed to assess the compressive strength of alkali activated mortars. Test results clearly showed that the compressive strength development of alkali-activated mortars were significantly dependent on the proposed alkali quality coefficient. Compressive strength development of AAS mortars were also estimated using the formula specified in the previous study, which was calibrated using the collected database. Predictions from the simplified equations showed good agreements with the test results.

In this study, Assessment of bond property of HSC with the rate of Blust-furnace(0, 12, and 25 percent by weight cement) and Evaluation of the relationship of the compressive strength coefficient (${\beta}$) between compressive strength with 40${\sim}$120MPa were performed. Design and Test of Bond specimens were carried out based on the ASTM C-234. Test results are follows, most specimens showed that the splitting failure in all specimens, except for B-40 series which showed that the pull-out failure. For the B-40 Series, the relation of compressive strength versus bond stress has well converged that of the proposed equation with the variation(${\beta}$=2/3) in UCB/E.E.R.C-83. The crack strength of concrete in splitting was proportioned to the compressive strength of concrete, and was the highest on the contents of blast furnace slag to 12 percent by weight of cement in each series, except for B-60 series. In the relation of admixture replacement rate versus maximum bond stress, The maximum bond stress was the highest in 12 percent by weight of cement according to less than 40MPa, and was the highest in 25 percent by weight of cement according to 80MPa.

This study is analysis of the utilization as a concrete fine aggregate on CGS, a by-product of Integrated coal gasification combined cycle(IGCC). That is, in KS F 2527 "Concrete aggregate," properties of 1~12times to CGS were evaluated, focusing on quality items corresponding to natural aggregate sand(NS) and melted slag aggregate sand(MS). As a result, the distribution of grain shape, safety and expansion were all satisfied with KS standards by physical properties, but the quality was unstable at 7~12times of water absorption ratio and absolute dry density. The particle size distribution was unstable due to asymmetry distribution of coarse particles, and particles were too thick for 7~12times. The passing ratio of 0.08mm sieve was also out of the KS standard at part factor of 7~12times, but chloride content, clay contents, coal and lignite were all satisfactory. Meanwhile, chemical composition was satisfactory except for $SO_3$ in 1~6times, and content and amount of harmful substances were all within the specified value except for F in 7~12times. As a result of SEM analysis, the surface quality and porosity were 7~12times more than 1~6times, and it was the quality was degraded. Therefore, it is necessary to reduce the quality deviation by using separate measures in order to utilize it as concrete aggregate in the future, and if it is premixed with fine quality aggregate, it will contribute positively to solve aggregate supply shortage and utilize circulation resources.
To infer the provenance of raw iron materials utilized in iron production at the archaeological sites in Gyeongsang province, petrographic and geochemical analyses were conducted for smelting samples and major iron ores sourced from ore deposits. The smelting samples excavated from various iron archaeological sites were classified into different types according to their refining processes, such as iron bloom, iron bloom slag, pig iron, pig iron slag, forging iron flake, smithery iron, iron flake, and arrowhead. These samples exhibited discernable differences in their mineralogical components and texture. The enrichments of major elements such as aluminum and calcium in silicate minerals of the residual slags and the high contents of trace elements such as nickel and copper in some iron-making relics reflect the characteristics of raw iron ores, and thus can be regarded as potential indicators for inferring the provenance of source materials. In particular, the compositional ranges of Pb-Sr isotope ratios for the iron smelting samples were classified into three categories: 1) those exhibiting similar ratios to those of the raw iron ores, 2) those enriched in strontium isotope ratio, and 3) those enriched in both lead and strontium isotope ratios. The observed distinct Pb-Sr isotope characteristics in the iron smelting samples suggest the potential contribution of specific additives being introduced during the high-temperature refining process. These results provide a new perspective on the interpretation of the provenance study of the iron archaeological samples in Gyeongsang province, particularly in terms of the potential contribution of additives on the refining process.

In this study, the replacement effects of cementitious materials (fly ash, blast furnace slag, and blended mixtures) were assessed for normal strength concrete with very low shrinkage properties under $350{\mu}{\varepsilon}$ strain using a powder type shrinkage reducing agent. In addition, through mock-up tests of actual size walls restrained with four sides, the shrinkage characteristics using the power type shrinkage reducing agent were measured and the crack reducing ability was assessed. The slump and air contents were measured as the properties of fresh concrete, and the length changes of the prismatic specimens, $100{\times}100{\times}400mm$ in size, were measured for the shrinkage characteristics. To reduce the shrinkage of concrete, the maximum replacing ratio of the fly ash is effective to 20 percent; however, the use of blast furnace slag and ternary mixtures did not reduce the shrinkage.

Blast furnace slag has been actively used as a substitute for cement in the construction field with high value-added through resource recycling research. However, most of the slag cannot find a clear recycling purpose. This is because some slags contain unstable materials and are used for road-use asphalt and embankment, which are low value-added materials. Electric arc furnace reduction slag(ERS) has been reported to contain a large amount of unstable free CaO due to deoxidation and component adjustment. In this study, free CaO of ERS which is generated in Korean steelmakers is quantitatively evaluated by using ethylene glycol method. As a result of free CaO quantitative evaluation of ERS, it was confirmed that there is a big difference according to the location of each field. In addition, ERS generally existed in powder form as undifferentiated characteristics, but it was confirmed that free CaO content was different due to hydration product in aggregate form due to water treatment. In addition, free CaO is an amorphous material and its crystallization characteristics are different due to the influence of temperature when it is cooled. ERS requires a long-term aging period as it contains a lot of free CaO.

This research intends to analyze the basic characteristics of cements(hereinafter "CC") with affordable price and particle distribution effective as hydration heat face which are discharged at the outlet of smashing process of ordinary portland cement(hereinafter "OPC") manufacturing process such as fluidity, rigidity, temporary insulation temperature increase amount etc to review the potential of developing "CC" to 3 ingredients low heat cement that substitutes fly ash and blast furnace slag(hereinafter "BS"). As a result of experiment, fluidity tended to decrease with increase in CC substitution rate, and increase with increase in FA+BS substitution rate. Air amount tended to slightly decrease with increase in CC substitution rate, and decrease with increase in FA+BS substitution rate. Condensation characteristics were such that condensation time was delayed with increase in CC and FA+BS substitution rate. As for the temperature rising amount by temporary insulation, peak temperature decreased with increase in CC substitution rate and increase in FA+BS substitution rate in general, and thereafter, temperature tended to decrease slowly. Compressive strength decreased with increase in CC and FA+BS substitution rate, and as aging goes on, long term strength was equivalent to plain or higher. By and large, when FA+BS was substituted to CC, fluidity and air amount tended to decrease, but hydration heat face showed good reduction effects, suggesting possibility of development to 3 ingredients low heat cement.

In this study, we find out the feasibility of self-consolidating concrete with EP nylon fiber. Three kinds of method were used; when length of nylon fiber is differed for the experiment to investigate usability of nylon fiber with enhanced performance by dispersing-agent coating in self-consolidating concrete, when mixing in other organic fibers (polypropylene, cellulose) and in case of Binary Blended and Ternary Blended concrete mixed with different types of mineral admixtures (blast-furnace slag and fly ash). Based on the results of the experiment described above, comparison was made on the basic properties and dynamic characteristics of general fiber reinforced concrete mixed with enhanced performance nylon fiber and SCC mixed with enhanced performance nylon fiber as a Mock-up test prior to the experiment of application to the actual structure. Considering characteristics and durability of the fresh and hardened self-compacting concrete, dynamic characteristics and durability were found to be more outstanding when using nylon fiber for the mineral admixtures used, dynamic characteristics and durability were found to be more outstanding when using blast-furnace slag.

Recently, review on viability of various industrial by product and natural materials as raw material for concrete has been actively done in aspect of environment-friendly issue and depletion of natural resource. This study conducted fundamental study on the possibility of utilizing mud flat as admixture and filling material for concrete. First, chemical analysis on the viability of mud flat as admixture was done and the researchers compared it with the substance of fly ash and blast furnace slag. According to the result, substance content was proven to be inadequate. In addition, as the replacement rate of mud flat increased, compressive strength and tensile strength decreased. According to the estimated result of chemical substance analysis, possibility of utilizing mud flat as admixture was low. According to the result of experiment done as filling material, 10% ~ 30% replacement rate of mud flat manifested more than 8 Mpa of compressive strength of block which may be utilized for secondary product. However, additional experiment such as making block is required afterward. According to the result of flow experiment, as the replacement rate of mud flat increased, flow value decreased, and through chloride content analysis test, it was proven that mud flat is inappropriate to be applied as steel beam using structure since it has high content of sodium. It may be utilized as products that does not use steel beam such as internal brick.

The aim of this research work is to investigate the mix proportion of multi-component cement incorporating ground granulated blast furnace(GGBFS), fly ash(FA) and silica fume(SF) as an addition to cement in ternary and quaternary combinations. The water-binder ratio was 0.45. In this study, 50% and 60% replacement ratios of mineral admixture to OPC was used, while series of combination of 20~40% GGBFS, 5~35% FA and 0~15% SF binder were used for fundamental characteristics tests. This study concern the GGBFS/FA ratio and SF contents of multi-component cement including the compressive strength, water absorptions, ultrasonic pulse velocity(UPV), drying shrinkage and X-ray diffraction(XRD) analysises. The results show that the addition of SF can reduce the water absorption and increase the compressive strength, UPV and drying shrinkage. These developments in the compressive strength, UPV and water absorption can be attributed to the fact that increase in the SF content tends basically to consume the calcium hydroxide crystals released from the hydration process leading to the formation of further CSH(calcium silicate hydrate). The strength, water absorption and UPV increases with an increase in GGBFS/FA ratios for a each SF contents. The relationship between GGBFS/FA ratios and compressive strength, water absorption, UPV is close to linear. It was found that the GGBFS/FA ratio and SF contents is the key factor governing the fundamental properties of multi-component cement.
