Lubrication Analysis of Surface-Textured Inclined Slider Bearing with Rectangular Dimples (사각형 딤플로 Surface Texturing한 경사진 Slider 베어링의 윤활해석)

  • With the world's fast expanding energy usage comes a slew of new issues. Because one-third of energy is lost in overcoming friction, tremendous effort is being directed into minimizing friction. Surface texturing is the latest surface treatment technology that uses grooves and dimples on the friction surface of the machine to significantly reduce friction and improve wear resistance. Despite the fact that many studies on this issue have been conducted, most of them focused on parallel surfaces, with relatively few cases of converging films, as in most sliding bearings. This study investigated the lubrication performance of surface-textured inclined slider bearings. We analyzed the continuity and Navier-Stokes equations using a commercial computational fluid dynamics code, FLUENT. The results show the pressure and velocity distributions and the lubrication performance according to the number and orientation of rectangular dimples. Partial texturing somewhat improves the lubrication performance of inclined slider bearings. The number of dimples with the maximum load-carrying capacity (LCC) and minimum friction is determined. When the major axis of the dimple is arranged in the sliding direction, the LCC and friction reduction are maximized. However, full texturing significantly reduces the LCC of the slider bearing and increases the flow rate. The results have the potential to improve the lubrication performance of various sliding bearings, but further research is required.

  • Program slicing is s method to extract the statements from the program which have an influence on the value of a variable at a paricular point of the program. Program slicing is applied for many applications, such as program degugging, program testing, program integration, parallel program execution, software metrics, reverse engineering, and software maintenance, etc. This paper is the study to create the exact slice in the presence of Object Reference State Graph to generate more exactly static analysis information of objects in the program of the presence of complicated data structure.

  • Video telephony is a representative service in 3G mobile network. And there have been efforts to improve quality of video telephony service in different fields. In Korea, the leading mobile service provider SKTelecom and KTF service the WCDMA network as 3G mobile network. Now, more than a million people is using the network. In this paper, we study about video telephony over WCDMA network. and propose error minimizing algorithm using cross-layer adaptation between physical layer and video codec. We simulated 3G-324M protocol with MPEG-4 video codec, and simulation results show suggested algorithm improve packet transmission rate for improving quality of video telephony service.

Effects of Antibrowning agents on browning of apple slices during cold storage (냉장저장 중 사과 슬라이스의 갈변에 미치는 갈변저해제의 효과)

  • Changes in apple slices during cold storage were investigated by evaluating the physical properties such as degree of browning and compression force. Chemical properties such as PPO activity and total phenol contents were also determined and sensory evaluation was carried out. The correlation analysis between browning parameters was conducted. Degree of browning was increased in the order of fresh apple slice, water-dipped apple slice, $0.5\%$ ascorbic acid solution-dipped apple slice and CP(caramelization product) from sucrose-dipped apple slice. PPO activity was increased in the order of fresh apple slice, water-dipped apple slice, $0.5\%$ ascorbic acid solution-dipped apple slice and CP(caramelization product) from sucrose-dipped apple slice. Amongst several treatments, CP from sucrose-dipped apple slice showed the lowest degree of browning and PPO activity. Total phenol contents were decreased from 60 to 56.2 mg and from 59.6 to 56.0 mg in fresh apple slice and water-dipped apple slice, respectively, but CP from sucrose-dipped apple slice and $0.5\%$ ascorbic acid solution-dipped apple slice were increased from 51.9 to 52.8 mg and from 54.1 to 54.4 mg, respectively, showing the smallest changes when compared with fresh apple slice and water-dipped apple slice. Compression forces of apple slices during cold storage were decreased in the order of fresh apple slice, water-dipped apple slice, $0.5\%$ ascorbic acid solution-dipped apple slice and CP from sucrose-dipped apple slice. In sensory evaluation of apple slices during cold storage, CP from sucrose-dipped apple slice had higher score than the other treatments. In addition, a significant correlation was observed among degree of browning, PPO activity and phenol content. Therefore, CP from sucrose-dipped apple slice seems to be effective in controlling of enzymatic browning during cold storage. In addition, CP from sucrose-dipped apple slice seems to be effective on other several factors. These results suggest that CP from sucrose should be a potential source for controlling enzymatic browning during storage of vegetables and fruits.

  • The CT can accurately present the anatomical structure of an organ in the human body, and the resolution of the image is excellent. On Brain CT examination, the radiation sensitivity of the orbit is high and it is subject to many exposure effects. To reduce exposure dose of lens, this study compares change of exposure dose and shielding rate about non-shielding and shielding in a way of using two shielding materials, bismuth and tungsten. In this study, we used bismuth and tungsten filament as shielding materials made by 3D printing to measure the exposure dose according to the materials thickness and each of slices. To compare each shielding rate, 1 mm to 5 mm of two materials was measured with the head phantom fixed and the Magicmax universal dosimeter placed on the eye when the shielding material is not placed, and the shielding material is placed on it. In the 1 mm thick filament, the bismuth filament showed 26.8% and the tungsten filament showed 43.1% shielding rate. Therefore, tungsten presents much greater shielding effect than bismuth.

  • 최근 들어 햅틱 분야는 디지털 콘텐츠를 만질 수 있게 촉감을 제공함으로써 의학, 교육, 군사, 엔터테인먼트, 방송 분야 등에서 널리 연구되고 있다. 그러나 햅틱 분야가 사용자에게 시청각 정보와 더불어 추가적인 촉감을 제공함으로써 보다 실감 있고 자연스러운 상호작용을 제공하는 등 여러 가지 장점을 가진 것에 비해 아직은 일반 사용자들에게 생소한 분야다. 그 이유 중 하나로 촉감 상호작용이 가능한 콘텐츠의 부재를 들 수 있다. 또한 최근에 가상환경(Virtual Environment, VR)에 관심이 증가 되고, 가상환경에 햅틱이라는 기술을 접목시키는 시도가 많이 일어나고 있어서, 촉감 모델링에 대한 욕구 또한 증대 되고 있다. 일반적으로 촉감 모델링은 Material properties를 가지고 있는 그래픽 모델들로 구성이 된다. 그래픽 모델링은 일반적인 모델링툴 (MAYA, 3D MAX, 기타 등)으로 할 수 있다. 하지만 촉감 관련된 촉감 모델들은 콘텐츠를 제작한 이후에 일일이 수작업으로 넣어 주어야 한다. 그래픽 모델링에서는 사용자가 직접 눈으로 확인 하면서 작업을 이루어 지기 때문에 직관적으로 이루어질 수 있다. 이와 비슷하게 촉감 모델링은 직관적인 모델링을 하기 위해서 사용자가 직접 촉감을 느껴 보면서 진행이 되어야 한다. 또한 그래픽 모델링과 촉감 모델링이 동시에 진행이 되지 않기 때문에 촉감 콘텐츠를 만드는데 시간이 많이 걸리게 되고 직관적이지 못하는 단점이 있다. 더 나아가서 이런 촉감 모델링을 포함한 모델링 높은 생산성을 위해서 신속히 이루어져야 한다. 이런 이유들 때문에 촉감 모델링을 위한 새로운 인터페이스가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 촉감 상호작용이 가능한 촉감 콘텐츠를 직관적으로 생성하고 조작할 수 있게 하는 촉감 모델러를 기술한다. 촉감 모델러에서 사용자는 3 자유도 촉감 장치를 사용하여 3 차원의 콘텐츠 (정적 이거나 동적이거나 Deformation이 가능한 2D, 2.5D, 3D Scene)를 실시간으로 만져보면서 생성, 조작할 수 있는 촉감 사용자 인터페이스 (Haptic User Interface, HUI)를 통해서 콘텐츠의 표면 촉감 특성을 직관적으로 편집할 수 있다. 촉감 사용자인터페이스는 마우스로 조작하는 기존의 2 차원 그래픽 사용자 인터페이스를 포함하여 3 차원으로 사용자 인터페이스도 추가되어 있고 그 형태는 촉감 장치로 조작할 수 있는 버튼, 라디오버튼, 슬라이더, 조이스틱의 구성요소로 이루어져있다. 사용자는 각각의 구성요소를 조작하여 콘텐츠의 표면 촉감 특성 값을 바꾸고 촉감 사용자 인터페이스의 한 부분을 만져 그 촉감을 실시간으로 느껴봄으로써 직관적으로 특성 값을 정할 수 있다. 또한, XML 기반의 파일포맷을 제공함으로써 생성된 콘텐츠를 저장할 수 있고 저장된 콘텐츠를 불러오거나 다른 콘텐츠에 추가할 수 있다. 이러한 시스템은 햅틱이라는 분야를 잘 모르는 사람들도 직관적으로 촉감 모델링을 하는데 큰 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이다.

Thomas Young's Problem Solving through Analogical Reasoning in the Process of Light Inference Theory Formation and Its Implications for Scientific Creativity Education (창의적 과학자 토마스 영(T. Young)의 빛의 간섭 이론 형성과정에서의 비유추론을 통한 문제해결과 과학창의성 교육적 함의)

  • The study aims to analyze Thomas Young's problem solving processes of analogical reasoning during the formation of the interference theory of light, and to draw its implications for secondary science education, particularly for enhancing creativity in science. The research method employed in the study was literature review of the papers which Young himself had written about sound wave and property of light. His thinking processes and specific features in his thought that were obtained through analysis of his papers about light are as follows: Young reconsidered Newton's experiments and observations, and reinterpreted Newton's results in the new viewpoints. Through this analysis, Young discovered that Newton's interpretation about his own experiments and observations was faulty in a certain point of view and new interpretation is necessary. Based on the data, it is hypothesized that colors observed on thin plates and colors appeared repeatedly on Newton's ring are appeared because of the effect of light interference. Young used analogical reasoning during the process of inference of similarity between sound and light. And he formulated an hypothesis on the interference of light through using abductive reasoning from interference of water wave, and proved the hypothesis by constructing an creative experimental device, which is called a critical experiment. It is implicated that the analogical reasoning and experimental devices for explaining the light interference which Young created and used can be utilized for school science education enhancing creativity in science.

Development of teaching and learning materials by using GeoGebra and it's application effects for high school mathematically gifted students (GeoGebra를 활용한 교수.학습이 과학고등학교 수학영재들의 인지적 측면에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is inquire the reaction and adaptability of the mathematically gifted student, in the case of introduce learning materials based on GeoGebra in real class. The study program using GeoGebra consist of 'construction of fundamental figures', 'making animation with using slider tools' (graph of a function, trace of a figure, definite integral, fixed point, and draw a parametric curve), make up the group report after class. In detail, 1st to 15th classes are mainly problem-solving, and topic-exploring classes. To analyze the application effects of developed learning materials, divide students in four groups and lead them to make out their own creative products. In detail, guide students to make out their own report about mathematical themes that based on given learning materials. Concretely, build up the program to make up group report about their own topics in six weeks, after learning on various topics. Expert panel concluded that developed learning materials are successfully stimulate student's creativity in various way, after analyze of the student's activities. Moreover, those learning programs also contributed to the develop of the mathematical ability to thinking that necessary to writing a report. As well, four creative products are assessed as connote mathematically gifted student's creative thinking and meaningful elements in mathematical aspects.

An Effcient Two-Level Hybrid Signature File Method for Large Text Databases (대용량 텍스트 데이터베이스를 위한 효율적인 2단계 합성 요약 화일 방법)

  • In this paper, we propose a two-level hybrid signature file method(THM) to dffciently deal with large txt databases that use a term discrimination concept.In addition, we apply Yoo's clustering scheme to the two-level hybeid signature file method. The clustering schme groups similar signatures together according to the similarity of the highly discriminatiory tems so that we may achive better performance on retrival. The space-time ana-lyhtical model of the proposed two-level hybrid method is provided. Based on the analytical model and experiments, we compare it with the exsting methods, i.e. the bit-sliced method(BM), the-level method(TM), and the hybrid method(HM). As a result, we show that THM achives the best retrival performance in a large database with 100,000 records when the mumber fo matching records is less than 160.
