  • This study was conducted to investigate the relationships between job stress, stress coping strategies, empathy ability, and burnout in social workers at long-term care facilities. Data was collected from 201 social workers in three cities from March to May 2020 using structured questionnaires. Data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlations, and hierarchical multiple regression. Results showed that burnout significantly differed according to age, marital status, and career among the general characteristics. In the relationships between major variables, burnout showed a significant positive correlation with job stress and showed significant negative correlations with stress coping strategies and empathy ability. The major factors affecting burnout were job stress and empathy ability, which explained 72.3% of the variance. The results of this study suggest that job stress and empathy ability are important factors for burnout. Findings indicate a need to decrease job stress and increase empathy ability to prevent the burnout of social workers. Further studies are needed to examine burnout prevention strategies for social workers.

  • The use of social media has many advantages such as knowledge sharing, social networking, and communicating with other people. However, it has given rise to various side effects including stress, Which is defined as social network stress in this study. This study aims to conceptualize social network stress and investigate its effect on switching behavior in social media. For this purpose, we present a research model that consists of the antecedents and consequences of social network stress and test it empirically using LISREL 8.7 based on the structural equation model. The empirical results showed that knowledge sharing and self-disclosure had positive impact on social network stress, which in turn positively influenced social media switching behaviors. In conclusion, we discussed both theoretical and practical implications of this research and suggested its limitations.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine whether non-self perspective(NSP) reduces the negative effects of life stress experienced by middle-aged adults. an online survey was conducted using a sample of 207 adult men and women in their 40s and 50s, and a hierarchical regression analysis and simple slope analysis were performed. As a result, it was found that NSP modulates the negative effects of life stress on perceived stress and subjective well-being. Specifically, NSP reduced the positive effect of life event stress on perceived stress and reduced the negative effect on subjective well-being. The results of this study suggest that eastern and Buddhist self-view, NSP, has a buffering effect on life stress experienced by middle-aged adults. This study suggests that NSP should be considered as an important factor for coping with stress in middle-aged adults in counseling and clinical settings, and is expected to promote subsequent empirical research on the Buddhist concept of non-self. Finally, limitations and future studies are suggested.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the dual mediating effects of self-compassion and gratitude between perceived stress and insomnia in college students. For this study, 330 undergraduate students from Gyeongsang-do and Jeolla-do were surveyed about perceived stress, insomnia severity, self compassion, and gratitude. Regression, SPSS Macros, and bootstrapping methods were applied to verify the dual mediation effects. The results of this study were as follows. First, the positive effect of the perceived stress on the insomnia was observed to be significant. Second, self-compassion partially mediated the relationship between perceived stress and insomnia. Third, gratitude partially mediated the relationship between perceived stress and insomnia. Lastly, the perceived stress indirectly influenced insomnia through the dual mediation effect of self-compassion and gratitude. Focusing on these results, we discussed that stress management is important to prevent and alliviate insomnia of undergraduates and that intervention to promote self compassion and gratitude is needed.

  • This paper presents the analytical method for the long-term behavior of simply supported composite beams with precast decks prestressed in the longitudinal direction. The objectives of time-dependent analysis are to estimate losses of prestress on the concrete slab and long-term deflection due to creep and shrinkage of concrete, relaxation of prestressing steel. Also, the time-dependent analysis was carried out using the presented analytical method to evaluate the effects of several parameters on the long-term behavior of composite bridge with precast deck, including geometrical shapes of composite beams, compressive strength of concrete and magnitude of initial prestress. The results of the analysis indicated that, in the effects of geometrical shapes of composite beams, the main parameters affecting the losses of prestress and the long-term deflection were the cross sectional area and the moment of inertia of steel beam, respectively. Finally, the determination method for the required initial prestress was proposed by evaluation of the loss characteristics due to shrinkage and creep of concrete.

  • The purpose of the present study was to provide fundamental information to improve job satisfaction of rehabilitation-counselors and the service in sheltered workshop. The researcher conducted the nationwide survey of rehabilitation-counselors in sheltered workshop. The results of this study were summarized as follows. First, job stress of rehabilitationcounselors in sheltered workshop was in low level, but job satisfaction was relatively in high level. The factor of conflict in their role and over-roaded role reached serious level. And the promotion and salary of a job made their job satisfaction lower. Second, there was significant correlation between job stress and their career. Third, job satisfaction according to general characteristics of rehabilitation-counselors differed from their age. Fourth, there was significant correlation between job stress and job satisfaction. It showed that the higher job stress, the lower job satisfaction. Therefore, policy improvement was needed to enhance job satisfaction. In addition, continuous research and individual efforts were needed to lower the level of job stress for rehabilitation counselors in sheltered workshop.

  • This study aimed to empirically test the causal model of stress-coping-adaptation for unwed mothers, which was built upon the Lazarus and Folkman's(1984) "Stress-Coping-Adaptation" model. In doing so researchers endeavored to provide practice implications as well as theoretical ones which would be helpful both to alleviate the unwed mothers' stress level, and to facilitate social adaptation of the unwed mothers. In order to fulfill research purpose data were collected from the national sample of 423 unwed mothers in Korea. The results showed that the overall goodness of the fit of the proposed causal model was excellent. Most of the path coefficients between social support, stress, coping, and adaption turned out to be statistically significant. The moderating effects of "pursuit of social support" between stress and adaption was not significant statistically, though. Implications and suggestions were provided to reduce the level of stress of the unwed mothers, and to facilitate the adaptation of the unwed mothers.
