  • When the stud connection is considered as pin joint in the practical design, it is required to have high deformability. The rotational capacity as well as moment of the connection are evaluated through experimental works. Considered in the test are the reinforcement ratios of concrete member, the magnitude of axial force and connection details. It is shown that the stud connection has some quantity of moment capacity buy on the other hand it has low deformability. The strength and deformability of the connection depend on the axial force and reinforcements around the studs. The strength and ductility of the connection ate increased by using closed C-type.

  • This study is to evaluate the shear performance of joint between existing and new slab in apartment remodeling construction for enlarging existing slab. The horizontal joint parameters are consisted by steel pipe cotter, shear reinforcement, H-steel, stud bolt, and round shear key by concrete. And joint specimens will be tested to evaluate the shear performance of these parameters. If the joint detail have sufficient strength, it will be proposed the basic form on the design of joint parts.

  • An experimental study to evaluate structural capacity of an embedded plate connected with prestressed concrete beam was performed. Embedded steel plates and prestressed concrete beam were connected with stud-bolts at the ends of concrete beam specimens. About 1,000 kN concentrated load was applied at 450mm away from the end of beam specimen. A 3,000 kN capacity static Oil-jack was used to direct concentrated load. The maximum strain of stud-bolt recorded $90{\times}10^{-6}$(mm/mm) and wide width cracks were not founded. Any falling failures of concrete and large deformations were not founded either between steel plate and prestressed concrete specimen. As a result, construction performance can be improved using this embedded steel plate connection system apply to large space educational facilities.

  • Steel frames are increasingly used in commercial buildings. and most steel frames are designed to achieve composite action with the concrete floor slab. The advantages of 'composite construction' are now well understood in terms of structural economy. good performance in service. and ease of construction. But. these conventional composite construction system are difficult to apply steel framed apartment due to their large depth. So. in this study we developed Semi Slim Floor system which could reduce the overall depth of composite beam. Semi Slim Floor system is a method of steel frame multi-story building construction in which the structural depth of each floor is minimised by incorporating the steel floor beams within the depth of the concrete floor slab. Twelve composite slab specimens with different deck-type. slab width. with or without stud bault and concrete topping thickness were tested to evaluate the flexural capacity.

  • An experimental and analytical study on the behavior of the wall-support joint in SC(steel plate-concrete) structure was performed. Nine full-scale specimens were tested with a horizontal monotonic load, all acting in the same plane, causing a uni-axial moment on the SC structure's wall-support beam joint. The main focus is to examine thenonlinear behavior and ultimate strength of the SC wall-support joint. The effects of parameters, such aslocation of support, thickness of the steel plate, and size of support, were studied. The yield strength and ultimate strength of the plate-concrete wall was defined by examining the load-deflection relationship, showing the tension membrane action.

  • The automobile industry is ubiquitous and involved in the handling of metal, machines, electricity, electron, and chemistry including the products of many types of processes. In the process of installing engines as a part of the car assembly line, the measurement and correction of the position of the stud bolts consumes a great deal of time. Additionally, defective parts must be manually removed. In the process of engine installation, the speed of the operation, related to the economics of vehicle assembly, is dependent upon measuring the precise position of the stud bolt, reducing the length of correction time, and increasing the working rate. This paper deals with securing the economic feasibility of the manufacturing process, increasing the safety by removing risk factors in the working area, and improving and equalizing the quality by developing an automatic system for the process involving a stud bolt.

  • A general formulation of the long cylinder tolerance design for the joint structure is here presented. The aim of this paper is to calculate the tolerance of joint by defining tolerance as a kind of uncertainty and to obtain the robustness of the joint structure. It is formulated on the bases of the minimum sensitivity theorem. The objective function is the tolerance sensitivity for the Von-Mises stress. It also took into full account the stress, displacement and weight constraints. PLBA(Pshenichny-Lim-Belegundu-Arora) algorithm is used to solve the constrained nonlinear optimization problem. The finite element analysis is performed with CST(Constant-Strain-Triangle) axisymmetric element. Sensitivities for design variables are calculated by the direct differentiation method. The numerical result is presented for the cylindrical structure where the joint tolerance is treated as random variables.

  • The neutron fluxes and dose rates due to radiation streaming from reactor cavities were evaluated at the KNU-1 reactor pressure vessel (RPY) head flange elevation. To find a suitable cross section data set for the evaluation, a benchmark test was performed for three data sets; DLC-23/CASK, DLC-31/FEWG, and DLC-47/BUGLE. The leakage fluxes from the KNU-1 RPV outer surface were calculated with two different methods: 1-D calculation with ANISN, and 2-D calculation with DOT3.5. The Monte Carlo procedures as embodied in the MORSE-CG code combined with the albedo option were applied to predict the radiation distributions in the cavity region. Finally, the activation analysis of the stud bolts was performed to identify the major activation products.

  • The steel-plate concrete composite beam is composed of a steel plate, concrete and shear connector to combine two inhomogeneous materials. In general, the steel plate is assembled by welding an existing composite beam. In this study, the SPC beam was composed of folding steel plates and concrete, without a headed stud. The folding steel plate was assembled by a high strength bolt instead of welding. To improve the workability in a field construction, a hat-shaped cap was attached to the junction with a slab. Monotonic load testing under two points was conducted under displacement control mode to analyze the flexural strength of the SPC beam using a cap as the shear connector. Five specimens with shear connector types, protrusion length, and different thickness of steel plates were constructed and tested. The experimental results were analyzed through the relationship between the shear strength ratio and flexural strength in KBC 2009. The test results showed a shear strength ratio of more than 40 %. In the case of using a cap-like specimen as the shear connector, the flexural strength was 70% of the value calculated as a fully composite beam. In addition, the cap showed a smaller shear strength than the stud, but the cap served as a shear connection. When the thickness of the steel plate was taken as a variable, the steel plate exhibited a bending strength of approximately 70% compared to a fully formed steel plate, and exhibited similar deformation performance. Local buckling occurred due to incomplete composite behavior, but local buckling occurred at a 5% higher strength for a relatively thick steel plate. The buckling width also decreased by 15%.

  • The steel-plate concrete composite beam is composed of a steel plate, concrete and a shear connector to combine the two inhomogeneous materials. In general, the steel plate is assembled by welding an existing composite beam. In this study, a new steel-plate concrete composite (SPCC) beam was developed to reduce the size of the shear connector and improve its workability. The SPCC beam was composed of folded steel plates and concrete, without any shear connector. The folded steel plate was assembled with high strength bolts instead of welding. To improve the workability in field construction, a hat-shaped cap was attached in the junction with the slab. Monotonic two-point load testing was conducted under displacement control mode. The flexural strength of the SPCC beam specimen was calculated to be 76% of that of the complete composite beam by using the plastic stress distribution method and strain compatibility method. The cap acted as the stud and accessory. The synthesis rate could be increased by controlling the gap of the cap, and the bending performance could be evaluated by using the strain fitting method considering the synthesis rate of the SPCC beam.
