As the use of smartphones has rapidly increased due to the development of digital technology, the expansion of smartphones, and the COVID-19 incident, dependence on smartphones and the Internet is emerging as a serious social problem. As one of the solutions to the smartphone overdependence problem, the government and companies are releasing smartphone overdependence prevention applications. However, research on the effectiveness of smartphone overdependence prevention applications is insufficient. Therefore, this study selects 25 applications serviced in Korea as analysis targets and evaluates smartphone overdependence prevention applications in terms of function and service using the FGI survey method to identify problems and propose improvements. In the function evaluation, the functions of blocking illegal/harmful apps/websites, limiting smartphone usage time, and monitoring smartphone usage status are provided in most applications, so satisfaction scores are also highly evaluated. However, functions such as location check, smombie prevention, and body camphishing prevention served by some applications are evaluated low due to poor performance and poor accuracy. Classified by service provider, government-providing applications need to accurately perform functions and improve convenience of use. Mobile-Carrier-providing applications need to improve connectivity with other carriers and compatibility with other smart devices like smartphone, tablet, etc. Other private enterprise-providing applications need to open AS channels such as customer service centre and chatbot to improve service.

Activity recognition using smartphone accelerometer suffers from the user dependency problem that acceleration patterns of one user differ from those of others for the same activity. Moreover, it also suffers from the position dependency problem since a smartphone may be placed in any pockets or hands. In order to overcome these problems, this paper proposes an effective activity recognition method which is less dependent with both specific users and specific positions of the smartphone. Based on the proposed method, we implement a real-time activity recognition system working on an Android smartphone. Throughout some experiments with 6642 examples collected from different users and different positions, we investigate the performance of our activity recognition system.

This study investigated the effects of empathy, self-control, and smartphone dependency on the interpersonal relationships of nursing students. The survey participants were 157 students in A city. The data was collected through self-report questionnaires that were obtained from May 27 2019 to May 31 2019. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and Independent t-tests, One-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and Stepwise multiple regression analysis of the SPSS 14.0 program. As a result, self-control (F=5.319, p=.006) and smartphone dependency (F=4.854, p=.009) showed significant differences according to the school records. Smartphone dependency (t=-3.381, p<.001) showed significant differences according to smartphone use. Age was found to have a statistically positive correlation with self-control (r=.194, p=.015) and it had a negative correlation with smartphone dependency (r=-.223, p=.005). Self-control was found to have a statistically positive correlation with empathy (r=.244, p<.01), interpersonal relationship (r=.540, p<.001). and negative correlation with smartphone dependency (r=-.432, p<.001). Empathy was found to have a statistically positive correlation with interpersonal relationships (r=.476, p<.001). Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that the predictors of interpersonal relationships were self-control (β=.477, p<.001), empathy (β=.359, p<.001), and smartphone use (β=.208, p<.01) which accounted for 45.0% of all the variance (F=12.029 p<.01). An enhancement program of nursing students' interpersonal relationships is needed that considers their self-control, empathy, and smartphone use.
This study is objected to identify the influencing factors of adolescents' smartphone dependency and to determine the degree of influence on smartphone dependency through direct and indirect channels acting between factors. The data of the 2th Korean Child-Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS 2018) was analyzed using the SPSS 26.0 and 26.0 AMOS program. Six paths proved to statistically significant. Self-esteem and depression were the influencing factors of adolescents' smartphone dependency. Social withdrawal and the school environment influenced smartphone dependency through self-esteem and depression as mediators. Self-esteem and depression acted as mediating factors. Adolescents' smartphone dependency was influenced not only by personal factors but also by external factors such as the school environment. The results of this study will be presented as evidence for developing programs that can prevent adolescents from smartphone dependency.
The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship of parental self-esteem with adolescents' smartphone over-dependence and to investigate whether parental attitudes mediate between them. The SEM was utilized by extracting data from 2,590 pairs of middle school students and their parents in the 1st year from the KCYPS 2018. First, parental self-esteem had a significant correlation with adolescent's smartphone over-dependence. Second, parental attitude mediates the effect of parental self-esteem on adolescent's smartphone overdependence. Third, among six sub-factors of parental attitude, only inconsistency was significant. In conclusion, to prevent teens' smartphone overdependence, parental factors such as parents' self-esteem enhancing and consistent parental attitude to their children is important. Based on these results, practical measures for preventing smartphone over-dependence of adolescents were discussed.

The purpose of this study was to examine the moderated mediating effect of emotional expressiveness through social-anxiety on the relationship between university student' life stress and smart phone overdependence. For this purpose, the survey was conducted at the Southern Post using revised life stress scale for college students(RLSS-CS), social anxietyy scale(SIAS), smart phone overdependence scale(S-scale), and emotional expressiveness scale(BEQ). Data collected from 400 (200 men, 200 women) were analyzed using SPSS 21.0 and SPSS Macro. The results were as follows: first, university students' life stress were positively associated with social-anxiety, smart phone overdependence and emotional expressiveness. Secondly, partially mediating effect of social-anxiety on the process of university students' life stress affecting smart phone overdependence. Thirdly, emotional expressiveness also moderated the mediating effect of university student' life stress on smart phone overdependence through social-anxiety. In this study, the pathway leading to the smart phone overdependence was examined jointly, including life stress, social-anxiety and emotional expressiveness. Finally, the implications and limitations of this study were discussed with suggestions for future studies.
This study aims to identify the relationship between adolescents' smart phone dependency, parenting method and aggression, and further to validate the mediating effect of parenting style between adolescents' smart phone dependency and aggression. First, adolescents' smart phone dependency has shown to have positive and negative relationships with the parenting style and aggression. Second, adolescents' smart phone dependency negatively affected their aggression through the positive parenting style, while it had a positive impact on their aggression through the negative parenting style. That is, the results demonstrated that adolescents' smart phone dependency increased their aggression, but at that time the positive parenting style such as warmth, support of autonomy, and provision of aid decreased their aggression as a mediator, whereas the negative parenting style such as refusal, compulsion, and inconsistency increased their aggression.
The aim of this study is to inquire into the influential relationship between perceived characteristics and psychological attitude toward smart phone in relation with the smart phone. This study conducted a questionnaire survey targeting domestic college students who are using the smart phone in an effort for an empirical test of the research model. The theoretical implications of this study laid foundation for doing research on the behavior of perceived characteristics and psychological attitude toward technology, and supplied a clue to diverse, in-depth research works on the further smart phone. The study-suggested practical implications are as follows: First, it is required that the usefulness and easy of use of the smart phone should be reinforced in order to form a positive attitude toward the smart phone. Second, the sense of dependence on the smart phone has an influence on user satisfaction.
