The subjects of this study were 54,603 male and female adolescents. This study data was analyzed using SPSS 25.0 program. As a result of this study, the relevant factors for the problematic experiences of smartphone use among male students were academic performance, economic level, counselors, fast food consumption frequency, depression, suicidal ideation, suicide plan, happiness, subjective body image, stress, and smartphone usage time. Drinking and smoking were found to be significant related factors only for female students. Therefore, in order to reduce the problematic experience of smartphone use, an intervention considering the influence factors according to gender is required.

This study was conducted using a descriptive survey design. Participants were 283 nursing college students attending freshmen and sophomore yearsat one university in Jeollanam-do. Data were collected from September 1 to 15, 2015 using self-report questionnaires. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient, hierarchical regression and Sobel test with SPSS 21.0. There were significant positive correlations between life stress, depression, smartphone addiction and experiential avoidance. Experiential avoidance partially mediated the relationship between life stress and depression of nursing students. Additionally, experiential avoidance partially mediated the relationship between their life stress and smartphone addiction. The results show that experiential avoidance plays a key role in psychopathology and grows with depression and smartphone addiction. Based on the present findings, nursing interventions should be developed to decrease experiential avoidance, with additional consideration towards the relationship between life stress and experiential avoidance, in order to prevent depression and smartphone addiction among nursing college students.

  • The purpose of the study is to verify whether literature therapy program for prevention of smartphone addiction is effective for adolescents. The subjects of this study were 150 students of J City, K middle school. After completing the program, they were conducted post-test for both the experimental and control groups. The study found that the program was effective in mitigating smartphone addiction but not in reducing the directed life problem. It was also found to be effective in reducing tolerance and loss of control and problems of withdrawal and emotional experience. The study suggests that institutional arrangements are needed for linking with related organizations in the region because it is difficult to effectively prevent the increasing problem of smartphone addiction unless an adolescents program for youth is linked to the school. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct parent education for prevention of smartphone addiction in computer curriculum of school subjects.

  • Smart-phones have become a vital part of our lives, paying a bill online, shopping using applications, using email and office applications. Therefore, the risk of the leakage of personal informations and the misuse of them becomes high, for the cost of loosing smart-phone. Many types of smart-phone security features such as password, slide-lock, and pattern lock have been introduced. However, those security locks make users not to easily access and use a smart-phone. There is tradeoff between security on one hand, and usability and cost on the other. This paper propose Self-Concealment to solve the tradeoff problem and demonstrate the effect through the experiment. In sum, Self-Concealment lowers smart-phone experience; however increases smart-phone use intension. This paper has implication for proposing new User Experience (UX) construct to resolve the trade-off between security and usability.
