A Study on the Effects of Seogye Deuk-Yoon Lee on Cheongju Sarim(Forest of Scholars) (청주 사림의 학맥과 서계 이득윤과의 관계에 대한연구)

  • This thesis is a part of a case study conducted in order to understand the trends of the 16th~17th century Cheongju region bigwigs, and has examined the life and academic stream of Seogye Deuk-Yoon LEE (1553-1630) focused on the previous study, "The Great Family Genealogy of Ikjaegong of the Gyeongju LEE Family". Seogye Deuk-Yoon LEE learned from his father Seomgye Jam LEE, and GiSEO, Ji-Hwa PARK from an early age, and based the basic orientation of his studies on one's moral and religious self one's moral and religious self'. This is how he became to emphasize "Sohak" (an introductory book of Confucianism for children), and he made an effort to realize the world of Neo-Confucianism by distributing the 'YEO's Hyangyak(Lue-shih-hsiang-yueeh : autonomic regulations of the district areas)' published on "Sohak". Furthermore, he made great effort in education of the Cheongju by regarding it as his own mission to teach young scholars, continuing on the footsteps of his father. Considering this, Seogye was not only a Confucian scholar that devoted himself to 'Sugi(moral training of himself', but was also a practical scholar that committed his sense of social responsibility in ' teaching' and 'governing the people, who greatly affected the academic world of the regional bigwigs of the Cheongju during the 17th century. Furthermore, Deuk-Yoon LEE was a member of the 'Nangseongpalhyeon(eight wise men of the Cheongju region) together with his disciple Deok-soo LEE, who performed a core role in establishing the 'Gihohakpa(Capital and Chungcheong province School)' and 'Hoseosarim(forest of scholars in Chungcheong province)' of the Cheongju region. As a main figure in establishing the Sinhang Confucian academy, he prepared the socio-economic basis for the 'Gihohakpa' to take place in the Cheongju, and by academically associating with Sagye Jang-Seng Kim without regarding their conflicting parties, he became the bridge in allowing his disciple, Deok-Soo LEE to associate with the academic stream and the 'Gihohakpa'. Through such roles, he allowed the relatively easy establishment of the 'Gihohakpa' and 'Hoseosarim', which continued to Jang-Seng KIM and Si-Yeol SONG, in order to prepare the basis and establish the strength of its basis in the Cheongju region from the late 17th century.

Assessment Study on Educational Programs for the Gifted Students in Mathematics (영재학급에서의 수학영재프로그램 평가에 관한 연구)

  • Contemporary belief is that the creative talented can create new knowledge and lead national development, so lots of countries in the world have interest in Gifted Education. As we well know, U.S.A., England, Russia, Germany, Australia, Israel, and Singapore enforce related laws in Gifted Education to offer Gifted Classes, and our government has also created an Improvement Act in January, 2000 and Enforcement Ordinance for Gifted Improvement Act was also announced in April, 2002. Through this initiation Gifted Education can be possible. Enforcement Ordinance was revised in October, 2008. The main purpose of this revision was to expand the opportunity of Gifted Education to students with special education needs. One of these programs is, the opportunity of Gifted Education to be offered to lots of the Gifted by establishing Special Classes at each school. Also, it is important that the quality of Gifted Education should be combined with the expansion of opportunity for the Gifted. Social opinion is that it will be reckless only to expand the opportunity for the Gifted Education, therefore, assessment on the Teaching and Learning Program for the Gifted is indispensible. In this study, 3 middle schools were selected for the Teaching and Learning Programs in mathematics. Each 1st Grade was reviewed and analyzed through comparative tables between Regular and Gifted Education Programs. Also reviewed was the content of what should be taught, and programs were evaluated on assessment standards which were revised and modified from the present teaching and learning programs in mathematics. Below, research issues were set up to assess the formation of content areas and appropriateness for Teaching and Learning Programs for the Gifted in mathematics. A. Is the formation of special class content areas complying with the 7th national curriculum? 1. Which content areas of regular curriculum is applied in this program? 2. Among Enrichment and Selection in Curriculum for the Gifted, which one is applied in this programs? 3. Are the content areas organized and performed properly? B. Are the Programs for the Gifted appropriate? 1. Are the Educational goals of the Programs aligned with that of Gifted Education in mathematics? 2. Does the content of each program reflect characteristics of mathematical Gifted students and express their mathematical talents? 3. Are Teaching and Learning models and methods diverse enough to express their talents? 4. Can the assessment on each program reflect the Learning goals and content, and enhance Gifted students' thinking ability? The conclusions are as follows: First, the best contents to be taught to the mathematical Gifted were found to be the Numeration, Arithmetic, Geometry, Measurement, Probability, Statistics, Letter and Expression. Also, Enrichment area and Selection area within the curriculum for the Gifted were offered in many ways so that their Giftedness could be fully enhanced. Second, the educational goals of Teaching and Learning Programs for the mathematical Gifted students were in accordance with the directions of mathematical education and philosophy. Also, it reflected that their research ability was successful in reaching the educational goals of improving creativity, thinking ability, problem-solving ability, all of which are required in the set curriculum. In order to accomplish the goals, visualization, symbolization, phasing and exploring strategies were used effectively. Many different of lecturing types, cooperative learning, discovery learning were applied to accomplish the Teaching and Learning model goals. For Teaching and Learning activities, various strategies and models were used to express the students' talents. These activities included experiments, exploration, application, estimation, guess, discussion (conjecture and refutation) reconsideration and so on. There were no mention to the students about evaluation and paper exams. While the program activities were being performed, educational goals and assessment methods were reflected, that is, products, performance assessment, and portfolio were mainly used rather than just paper assessment.

Skemp's concept development of underachievers' analytic geometry using the exploratory software, GSP & Excel (탐구형 소프트웨어를 활용한 해석기하에서 학습부진학생들의 개념형성에 관한 연구: 관계적.도구적 이해를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine How the exploratory activities using Excel and GSP which are exploratory software, in learning analytic geometry affected on the underachievers' analytic geometry concept development process. The subjects of 5 students who received the 8th~9th grades from their examination of the last semester, participated in a total of 7 units based on Skemp's intelligent learning model. The results of the study showed that there were two important cases found to nearly achieve the category $R_2$. One was reflective thinking could happen through exploratory software in category $R_1$. The other was the exploratory activities which could have the same effectiveness as the relational understanding in category $I_2$, as Skemp mentioned that there is a room to be achieved in the elementary level when such relational understanding is achieved.

A study of the Implications of French vocabularies and the de-locality in LEE Sang's Poems (이상(李箱)의 시 작품에 구사되는 프랑스어와 탈 지방성)

  • This following research is a study on the use of French and de-locality in the modern Korean poet Lee Sang's poetry (1910-1937). His hometown was Kyung Sung, Seoul. He mainly wrote his works in Korean, Chinese character, and Japanese, using the language of education and his native language at that time. So then, what was the spirit that he wanted to embody through use of French words? By using words like "ESQUISSE", "AMOUREUSE", Sang's French was not a one-time use of foreign words intended to amuse, but to him the words were as meticulously woven as his intentions. French words were harmonized with other non-poetic symbols such as "${\Box}$, ${\triangle}$, ${\nabla}$", and described as a type of typographical hieroglyphics. Instead of his mother-tongue language, French was applied as a surrealistic vocabulary that implemented the moral of infinite freedom and imagination, and expressed something new or extrasensory. Subsequently, the de-localized French (words) in his poetry can be seen as poetic words to implement a "new spirit", proposed by western avant-garde artists. Analysis of French in his poetry, showed a sense of yearning for the scientific civilization, calling for his sense of defeat and escape from the colonized inferior native land. Most of all, comparing his pursuit of western civilization and avant-garde art to French used in his poetry, is regarded as world-oriented poetry intended to implement the new tendency of the "the locomotive of modernity," transcending the territory of the native country.

An Influence of GSP to Learning Process of Proof of Middle School Students: Case Study (GSP가 중학생들의 증명학습에 미치는 영향: 사례연구)

  • In this paper, we investigated difficulties that middle school students face in the teaming process of proof, and then inquired how does learning of proof using GSP ease students' difficulties. Throughout the inspection, we identified that students have difficulties in understanding process of premise and conclusion, use of notation, process of reasoning. And we identified, throughout learning process of proof using GSP, students can be feedbacked for their guess or reasoning, generalize the special case to general properties and have attitude checking ideas needed in proof by themselves.

  • E-books produced in the country provide limited audio service for reading disables. The reason is that those books cannot translate the mathematical expressions and symbols in the context. In this paper, the 'Math Expression Reader' was implemented that can translate the expressions and symbols in the document into Korean speech for those who have reading disabilities. The math to speech generated by this program has been tested to both the public and reading disables and the results of this test has been compared whether they can exactly understand the speech and evaluated the reading rules.

A Study on the Transformation of Algebraic Representation and the Elaboration for Grade 7 (중학교 1학년 학생의 대수적 표상 전환 및 정교화 연구)

  • The algebra is an important tool influencing on a mathematics in general. To make good use of the algebra, it is necessary to transfer from a given situation to a proper algebraic representation. But some research in related to algebraic word problems have reported the difficulty changing to a proper algebraic representation. Our study have focused on transformation and elaboration of algebraic representation. We investigated in detail the responses and perceptions of 29 Grade 7 students while transforming to algebraic representation, only concentrating on the literature expression form the problematic situations given. Most of students showed difficulties in transforming both descriptive and geometric problems to algebraic representation. 10% of them responded wrong answers except only a problem. Four of them were interviewed individually to show their thinking and find the factor influencing on a positive elaboration. As results, we could find some characteristics of their thinking including the misconception that regard the problem finding a functional formula because there are the variables x and y in the problematic situation. In addition, we could find the their fixation which student have to set up the equation. Furthermore we could check that making student explain own algebraic representation was able to become the factor influencing on a positive elaboration. From these, we also discussed about several didactical implications.

Genetic Programming based Manufacutring Big Data Analytics (유전 프로그래밍을 활용한 제조 빅데이터 분석 방법 연구)

  • Currently, black-box-based machine learning algorithms are used to analyze big data in manufacturing. This algorithm has the advantage of having high analytical consistency, but has the disadvantage that it is difficult to interpret the analysis results. However, in the manufacturing industry, it is important to verify the basis of the results and the validity of deriving the analysis algorithms through analysis based on the manufacturing process principle. To overcome the limitation of explanatory power as a result of this machine learning algorithm, we propose a manufacturing big data analysis method using genetic programming. This algorithm is one of well-known evolutionary algorithms, which repeats evolutionary operators such as selection, crossover, mutation that mimic biological evolution to find the optimal solution. Then, the solution is expressed as a relationship between variables using mathematical symbols, and the solution with the highest explanatory power is finally selected. Through this, input and output variable relations are derived to formulate the results, so it is possible to interpret the intuitive manufacturing mechanism, and it is also possible to derive manufacturing principles that cannot be interpreted based on the relationship between variables represented by formulas. The proposed technique showed equal or superior performance as a result of comparing and analyzing performance with a typical machine learning algorithm. In the future, the possibility of using various manufacturing fields was verified through the technique.

Drawing up class module elements of originality and convergence and suggesting class modules by combining middle school physical education and STEAM (중학교 체육과 STEAM 융합을 통한 창의·융합 수업 모듈 요소 도출 및 수업 모듈 제시)

  • The purpose This study aimed at proposing class module elements for creativity and convergence and class models for creativity and convergence by integrating content elements by physical activity field(health, challenge, competition, ) for physical education and STEAM. For this, literature review, focus group interview(FGI) and discussions with experts were conducted, and the following study results have been drawn up: First, concerning the class module elements for creativity and convergence, total 11 class module elements in the health field were suggested including detecting risks by posture analysis and analyzing and designing amount of physical activity. Second, total 7 module elements in the challenge field were deduced such as anticipation of obstacles to target achievement and modeling of effective exercise. There were 17 convergence elements in the competition field including game record analysis and creation of game data storage application. Third, total 9 creativity and convergence module elements in the field include modeling of technology improvement for motion and symbolization for motion records. In addition, class modules related to convergence with engineering in the health field, convergence with technology in the challenge field, convergence with art in the competition field and convergence with art and mathematical symbols were proposed.

A Study on the Special Characters as UX/UI Icon Design Elements (UX/UI 아이콘 디자인 요소로서 특수 문자 체계 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to organize the system of special characters as UX/UI icon design elements, thus laying the groundwork for improvement direction for unclear use regulations. This study examines the theoretical background of UX/UI design and special characters and discovers UX/UI design and special characters' relations and assignments. Besides, the case study summarizes the system of special characters being utilized in the company's UX/UI icon design guidelines to produce the study results. As a result of the analysis, the special character types being utilized in UX/UI were graphic characters, mathematical symbols, punctuation marks, and parentheses. And the special characters commonly used in analysis cases, iOS, Android, and Windows, are ▶, ♥, ★, ○, ⊙, +, ×, ⋯. So this study organizes the common characters to standardize them. Hopefully, this study contributes to increasing the interest in the study of 'special characters' in the UX/UI design field and helps establish a framework for future industrial standards.
