This paper presents full scale model tests on the various types of model piles carried out to estimate the behavior of laterally loaded steel-concrete composite piles. Subgrade-reaction spring system was developed to simulate the reaction of ground in laboratory condition. In addition, lateral behavior of piles under working load condition was estimated using composite loading system, which is available for independent loading in vertical and horizontal direction. Steel-concrete composite piles showed higher efficiency in lateral resistance rather than drilled shaft made of reinforced concrete. The lateral resistance of composite pile was larger than the summation of steel pile and concrete pile due to the composite effect by steel casing. The effect of shear key or strength of concrete on the behavior of composite pile was examined. The substitution of reinforcing bar by steel casing was also investigated.
The main objective of the paper is to investigate the static behavior of a prestressed concrete (PSC) girder that has been spliced with precast box segments. A 20 m long full-scale spliced PSC girder is fabricated and tested to compare its static performance against a monolithic girder. The monolithic girder has the same geometric and material properties with respect to the spliced girder. This includes infernal strain, deflections, neutral axis position, and crack patterns for both girders. The test also consists of monitoring relative displacements occurring across the joints. Both the horizontal displacement (gap) and vertical displacement (sliding) are measured throughout the loading procedure. All results have been compared to those obtained from the monolithic girder. It has been demonstrated that the spliced girder offers close behavior with respect to the monolithic girder up to the crack load. Both girders exhibits ductile flexural failure rather than abrupt shear failure at joints.
Currently, social demands for long span building structures are increasing due to architectural planning purposes and economic efficiency. As a result, lighter board-type voiding materials were suggested. With the use of board-type voiding materials, a slab is able to become light weight and convenient. This process efficiently eliminates concrete where it is not required; considerably diminishing dead weight while maintaining the flexural strength of the slab. The reduction in concrete also allows for overall cost reductions and design flexibility. Also it can be ease with fixing the voided material that is composed of one body form. Although board-type voiding materials are ideal, the top and bottom concrete plates lack integrity. Because of this, test results show horizontal cracking towards the tops and bottoms of the concrete columns, or webs, connecting the slabs. The key to correcting this problem is to increase the shear strength. In order to increase the shear strength of the structure, horizontal shear area must increase. R70(100)-D-F has the largest horizontal shear area as it also shows stronger strength. As a result, shear strength ($V_{nh}$) is dependent on the horizontal shear area (N). $V_{nh}={\alpha}{\times}0.16{\sqrt{f_{ck}}}{\frac{{\pi}D^2}{4}}{\times}N({\alpha}=1.8125)$. The web columns have a shear span to depth ratio (a/d) that is less than 2; which classifies it as a deep beam. In this case, however, the shear strength of the deep beams may be as much as 2 to 3 times greater than that predicated conventional equations developed for members of normal proportions. As a result, ${\alpha}$ is suggested as an extra coefficient in the equation for shear strength ($V_{nh}$).
In a composite beam, a shear connector is installed to resist the horizontal shear on an interface between steel beams and reinforced concrete slabs. The steel-wire-integrated deck plate slab is commonly used at the wide section beam. Then vertical bars are installed at the upper wire of the ends of the steel truss girder to ensure safety during the construction. The new type of shear connector is made of deformed bar and steel plates, and must function as vertical bars but must have higher shear capacity. This paper examines the ways to develop and utilize this new shear connector. From the push-out experiments, a shear connector made of a continuous deformed bar and steel plate showed a higher shear capacity and ductility than a ${\phi}16$ stud connector, and functioned as a vertical bar.
In the post-beam structure, the infilled light-frame construction provides most shear strengths. Shear properties of the light-frame structure can be estimated from the shear properties of nailed connection for the sheathings, and those of nailed connections can be done from nail bending strengths. For the basic study to predict the yield strength and the slip modulus of a nailed sheathing shear wall, those of a nailed joint were examined from nail bending strengths. To estimate shear properties of a nailed connection, referenced bearing strength and bearing constant for the wood members and the experimental nail bending strengths of the helically threaded nail were applied. The yield strength using the diameter at grooves instead of shank diameter was well coincided with the experimental value, but the slip modulus was estimated much smaller. The effective factors, specific gravity for the main member, withdrawal by nail head diameter to the side member, and embedment and moment at the nail head were considered, and further examinations are needed for the precise prediction of the nailed connections.

A study was conducted to secure structural performance as well as improve workability by improving the reinforcement details of special shear wall and coupling beams. Based on the specimen in which the existing diagonal bundle reinforcement and shear reinforcement were placed, the specimens replaced with thick diagonal reinforcing bars and the specimens replaced with horizontal reinforcing bars were selected as variables. As a result of the experiment, the specimen, which replaced the existing diagonal reinforcement with a thick-diameter reinforcement, showed a similar behavior to that of the basic specimen, and it was evaluated that it can be applied as an alternative to the details.

This study was performed to find out the optimum adhesive conditions on manufacturing a cross-laminated timber (hereinafter CLT) with using domestic Korean Pine (Pinus koraiensis). The adhesive conditions including a applied amount of the glue and a Pressure are the one of the most important key factors on establishing CLT production process. The shear strength was examined with differing the adhesive conditions while using Phenol Resorcinol Formaldehyde Resin Adhesive (PRF resin). The optimum adhesive conditions was confirmed to be: glue spread of $250g/m^2$ and Pressure of 0.8 MPa respectively. The grain directions of glued specimens were also considered, perpendicularly bonded and parallelly bonded groups. Shear strength of the former group showed lower values than the latter group which is considered to be the effect of a rolling shear. Meanwhile the shear strength of both group satisfied the Korean Standard (KS F 3021) and the European Standard (EN 14080 and EN 16351). The results derived from this study can be used as the basic data for manufacturing the CLT with domestic Korean Pine. And additional researches for the other species including domestic Korean Larch and Pitch Pine is also now being performed.

Masonry structures are used as bearing walls in small buildings, but they are generally considered non-bearing walls. They are used as partition walls that divide the interior spaces of the frame structures of buildings. In addition, wetting techniques that use mortar as an adhesive between blocks or bricks in construction are vulnerable to climatic conditions, especially cracks in mortar, which can cause conduction collapse of the walls in seismic loading. The purpose of this research was to propose a dry concrete block construction method that complements the weak axial shear stiffness and improves the weakness of the wet construction method as well as to investigate its structural behavior. In this study, the material properties of concrete blocks were examined, and the seismic performance of the proposed dry assembly structure was verified by structural behavior tests on horizontal cyclic loads. First, in these study results, concrete blocks can be applied to the dry block construction method instead of wet construction methods because they secure more than C-type blocks in KS regulations. Second, the structural performance of the wall against a horizontal cyclic load indicates that the resisting force of the assembly block wall is increased by increasing the horizontal length of the wall, forming several diagonal cracks. Finally, the proposed dry block wall structure requires a seismic performance assessment considering that the ratio of the shape of the wall by height and length is considered a major influence variable on the structural behavior under a horizontal load.

Micropile is used to improve the stability of existing structures as well as solve various geotechnical problems, such as suppressing slope activity and shearing keys of retaining walls. The existing micropile method has a significantly less capacity to resist a horizontal force than a vertical force0355 Therefore, it is necessary to develop and study an umbrella-type micropile method with excellent seismic performance that can secure seismic performance economically while minimizing structures and ground disturbance areas in the limited space of existing structures. In this study, numerical analysis was performed on the umbrella-type micropile, in which the sloped pile and vertical pile were combined, and the horizontal behavior in soft clay ground during earthquakes was analyzed. Numerical analysis showed that umbrella-type micropile suppresses horizontal displacement in soft ground, and the effect of reducing the horizontal displacement was more pronounced when the embedded depth of the slope pile was 15 m or more. The embedded depth of the micropile and horizontal displacement suppression effect was proportional. Therefore, the umbrella-type micropile has an excellent effect of suppressing horizontal displacement during earthquakes on soft clay ground.
Recently, the use of composite construction method using precast (PC) and cast-in-place (CIP) concrete is increased in modular construction. For PC members, pre-tensioning is used to improve efficiency of the structural performance. However, current design codes do not clearly define shear strength of prestressed PC-CIP composite members. In this study, 22 specimens were tested to evaluate shear strength of prestressed composite members with vertical shear reinforcement. The test variables were the area ratio of high-strength (60 MPa) to low-strength concrete (24 MPa), prestressing force of strands, shear span-to-depth ratio(a/d), and vertical shear reinforcement ratio. The test results showed the prestressing force did not completely restrain diagonal cracking of non-prestressed concrete in the web. Thus, the effect of prestress force was not insignificant in the effect for monolithic beams. The vertical shear strength and horizontal shear strength of the composite beams were compared with the strength predictions of KCI design method.
