  • In this study, the prediction of landslide probability was performed to the study area located in ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$ area of Muan-gun, Jeonnam Province around Honam railway using the computer program SHAPP ver 1.0 developed by a decision tree model. The soil samples were collected at total 8 points, and soil tests were performed to measure soil properties. The thematic maps of soil properties such as coefficient of permeability and void ratio were made on the basis of soil test results. The slope angle analysis of topography was performed using a digital map. As the prediction result of landslide probability, 435 cells among total 15,552 cells were predicted to be in the event of landslides. Therefore, the predicted area of occurring landslides may be $43,500m^2$ because the analyzed cell size was $10m{\times}10m$.

  • The objective of this study is to suggest the possibility on land cover classification using hyperspectal imagery on area which includes lands and waters. After atmospheric correction as a preprocessing work was conducted on hyperspectral imagery acquired by airborne hyperspectral sensor CASI-1500, the effect of atmospheric correction to a few land cover class in before and after atmospheric correction was compared and analyzed. As the result of accuracy of land cover classification by highspectral imagery using reference data as airphoto and digital topographic map, maximum likelihood method represented overall accuracy as 67.0% and minimum distance method showed overall accuracy as 52.4%. Also product accuracy of land cover classification on road, dry field and green house, but that on river, forest, grassland showed low because the area of those was composed of complex object. Therefore, the study needs to select optimal band to classify specific object and to construct spectral library considering spectral characteristics of specific object.

  • Korea is a global steel producer and a major consumer while iron ore producing is very low compared to the demand. On the other hand, North Korea holds tremendous amount of iron reserves and, however, its producing rate is limited. Moreover, the data regarding mineral resources of North Korea is very limited and uncertain because of political isolation. This study estimated the amount of iron ore resource and production amount for the Musan Iron mine, the world-known open-pit mine of North Korea, using satellite imagery(Landsat MSS, ASTER) and digital maps between 1976 to 2007. As a result, the mining area of Musan mine was increased by $6.1km^2$ during the 30 years and the mining sector was estimated as $4.9km^2$. We estimated the iron resources and production amount of 0.7 and 0.2 billion metric tons, respectively based on 3D modeling and average iron ore density of Anshan formation in China. This amount indicates 8.1 million tons of annual average production and it coincides well with previous reports. We expect this study would be utilized significantly on inter-Korean exchange programs by providing trustable preliminary data.

  • This study aims to investigate a possibility of using topographic information by web mapping in open environments. Web mapping intends to focus on a map analysis and application of the function and geo-visualization. Functions of Web topographic info-map include a spatial analysis, enlargement and minimization, movement, landuse information, user-controling 3 dimension map, landform cross-section analysis, shortest path analysis. The web system adopts SVG(scalable vector graphics), MYSQL, PHP, XML for mapping. SVG has open source policy, so everyone can use it, as well, it is effective on flexible database linkage, cartographic representation. 3D map is intended to represent 3D map by user-controlled sunshine putting pixel opacity by elevation values after making DEM. Landform is designed to show a cross-section analysis and statistics by retrieving height information from database engine with clicking two points on the map. Shortest path analysis within regions uses Dijkstra's algorithm. Near future, resultantly, the area of WebGIS will have to meet more social demands for use-created geo-information and application, so more researches are needed to be web mapping more applicable for users.

  • We applied PSInSAR to two SAR satellite (ALOS-1 and COSMO-SkyMed) images and analyzed the difference in displacement observation performance according to sensor characteristics. The building layer was extracted from the digital topographic map, and the PS extracted from the SAR image was classified into two groups(building structure and ground surface) for density analysis. The density of PS extracted from the research area was $0.023point/m^2$ for ALOS-1 PALSAR and $0.1point/m^2$ for COSMO-SkyMed, more than 4 times PS was extracted compared to ALOS-1. In addition, not only the PS density in the building, but also the density in the ground were greatly increased. The average displacement velocity of ALOS-1 PALSAR is within ${\pm}1cm/yr$, while for COSMO-SkyMed it is within ${\pm}0.3cm/yr$. Although it is difficult to make quantitative comparisons because it does not use the data for the same period, it can be said that the accuracy of X-band SAR system is very high compared to the L-band. In consideration of PS observation density and observation accuracy of displacement, X-band SAR data is very effective in research where it is important to acquire useful signals from the ground surface, such as ground subsidence and sinkhole.

  • This study simulated flood inundation each frequency rainfall using GIS spatial information and FLUMEN model for part of Muju-Namdae Stream. To create geomorphology for the analysis of flood inundation, Triangle Irregular Network(TIN) was constructed using GIS spatial interpolation method based on digital topographic map and river profile data, unique data source to represent real topography of the river areas. And also flood inundation was operated according to the levee collapse to consider extremely flood damage scenarios. As the analysis of result, the inundation area in the left levee collapse showed more high as 3.13, 3.69, and 4.17 times comparing with one of right levee for 50, 100, and 200 year frequency rainfall and showed 1.00, 2.15, and 3.34 times comparing with one of right levee in the inundation depth with over 1.0 meter, which can cause casualties. As the analysis of inundation area of the inundation depth with over 1.0 meter, which can cause casualties in left levee collapse, it increased more high as 263% and 473% when 50 year frequency change into 100 and 200 year frequency. Also As the analysis of inundation area of the inundation depth with over 1.0 meter in right levee collapse, it increased high as 123% and 142% when 50 year frequency change into 100 and 200 year frequency. Especially, the inundation area of the inundation depth with 3.0~3.5m showed more high as 263% and 489% when 50 year frequency change into 100 and 200 year frequency. It is expected that flood inundation map of this paper could be important decision making data to establish land use planning and water treatment measures.

  • Recent growth of the geospatial information on the Web has made it possible to easily access a wide variety of geospatial information. An integration of different geospatial objects consists of the following three steps; extracting geospatial objects from the maps, converting the coordinate system and discovering pairs of objects that represent the same real-world entity in the two maps. This paper deals mainly with the third step to correspond conjugate objects and four matching types and criteria is presented. The techniques designed and developed can be utilized to efficiently integrate distributed heterogeneous spatial databases such as the digital maps and POIs from other data sources. To achieve the goal, we presented four types and criteria for the matching schema. The main contributions of this paper are as follows. A complete process of integrating data from maps on the Web is presented. Then, we show how attributes of the objects can be used in the integration process.
