Experimental Investigation of the Acoustic Signal Detection Performance for an Interfermetric Fiber Optic Hydrophone (실험을 통한 간섭계형 광섬유 청음기의 음향신호 감지성능 연구)

  • Optical fiber sensor is a subject which has been attracted considerable attention in recent years. Detection of sound pressure with optical fibers positioned in the arms of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer is presented in this paper. A fiber length of the order of 150m is wounded is made by hollow cylinder type. To increase the sound signal 3${\times}3$ directional coupler is used. Fiber optic hydrophone is the underwater tank with 2kHz sound source. Finally, it is shown that the fiber optic hydeophone can stably detec 2kHz sound.

  • Vibration characteristics of a fuel rod to be used in KALIMER(Korean Advanced LIquid MEtal Reactor) have been estimated through 3-dimensional finite element analysis and verified by experiment. The fundamental natural frequencies are found to be 6㎐ in air and 2.5㎐ in water. respectively. It has been found that in-water natural frequencies of the fuel rod are lower than in-air ones due to the added mass effect of the fluid filled inside the outer cylinder and they further decreases as the gap between the fuel rod and the outer cylinder increases, namely the added mass effect increases as the gap increases(maximum 54%). It has been also shown that the mass of the wire wrap axially coiled around the fuel rod do not affect the natural frequencies.

  • 압전식 충격파 쇄석기를 사용하여 대상물을 파쇄하는 과정에서 발생하는 음의 특성을 조사한 결과, 대상물이 파쇄됨에 따라 방사음이 더욱 저주파대로 이동한다는 사실을 알았다. 이 사실을 입증하기 위하여 대상물의 파쇄상태를 모델링한 대상물을 사용한 실험에서는 동일한 결과를 관측할 수 있었다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 실험적으로 추정된 연구결과를 이론적으로 확인하기 위하여 유한요소법을 이용한 수치 시뮬레이션을 실험과 유사하게 모델링한 대상물에 실행하였고, 시뮬레이션에서 관측된 결과를 제시하여 대상 연구결과의 유효성을 입증하였다.

Hydroelastic Vibration Analysis of Three Dimensional Submerged Structure (3차원 접수구조물의 유체탄성 진동해석)

  • 본 논문에서는 유체-구조 상호작용해석의 일종의 3차원 접수구조물의 진동해석을 효과적으로 수행하기 위한 해석방법을 제시하기 위하여 동적재해석기법을 검토하였다. 접수구조물의 유한구조 상호작용해석 결과는 구조진동의 관심 주파수역에서는 3차원 연성 부가수질량으로 표현되는 관성력으로 나타난다. 따라서 구조질량행렬에 부가수질량 행렬이 더해져서 전체 관성력으로 표현된다. 이 부가수질량을 추가질량으로 보고 재해석기법을 응용하는 방법을 수치실험을 통해 검증하였다. 이 때 재해석기법이 갖추어야 할 조건은 원구조의 질량과 거의 같은 정도의 질량이 추가되고 또한 완전 연성질량이 추가된 경우에도 정확한 해를 주어야 한다는 것이다. 이를 검증하기 위해 직접재해석기법과 섭동법을 이용한 재해석기법으로 4질량 스프링지지구조에 대한 해석을 수행한 결과 직접재해석기법의 응용이 적합함을 쉽게 입증할 수 있었다. 접수구조물의 예로는 3차원 잠수주상체에 대해 접수진동해석을 수행하였으며 그 결과 선체진동해석에 전통적으로 이용되고 있는 2차원 부가수질량과 3차원 수정계수를 사용한 기준차수법에서는 수지모드와 수평-비틔 연성모드와 같이 서로 독립적인 모드에 대해서는 따로 진동해석을 수행해 주어야 하는 단점이 발견되었다. 이 단점을 보완한 각 모드의 3차원 수정계수행렬을 이용한 재해석기법을 도입하여 모드에 상관없이 동시에 해를 구할 수 있었다. 그러나, 이 방법은 3차원 수정계수가 구해져 있는 경우에 한해서만 적용가능하며 실제 선체진동의 경우에는 10Hz 미만의 저차 주선체 진동에 한해서만 적용가능한 방법이다. 고차의 진도옴드에는 3차원 수정계수를 구할 수 없기 때문에 유체-구조 상호작용 해석결과로부터 얻은 3차원 연성 부가수질량을 이용하게 되며 이 때 이 행렬이 접수구조 표면의 전 자유도와 연성되어 있기 때문에 방대한 방정식을 푸어야 하지만 직접재해석기법을 적용함으로써 정확한 해를 구할 수 있었다. 또한 3차원 부가수질량을 이용한 직접재해석기법은 종래의 2차원 부가수질량과 3차원 수정계수를 이용한 방법에 비해 해석시간 면에서도 전혀 불리한 점이 없는 경제적 방법임이 밝혀졌다. 앞으로 Slamming 혹은 수중폭파 등의 충격하중에 의한 천이 구조응답 해석을 위한 효과적인 방법에 대해서도 연구결과를 발표할 계획이다.

Performance of convolutional coding using block interleaving in underwater frequency-selective channel (수중 주파수 선택적 채널에서 블록 인터리빙 기법을 적용한 길쌈부호화 기법의 성능)

  • In this paper, we evaluate the communication performance of convolutional code with block interleaving in a frequency-selective channel. Block interleaving is a technique for spreading and rearranging digital data streams. A block interleaving technique is applied to improve the performance by dispersing the concentration of burst errors in a frequency-selective channel. As a result of evaluating the performance of the convolutional code with block interleaving in the water tank experiment, There was no difference in the performance of convolutional codes using block interleaving in a frequency-selective channel. However, in the frequency-selective channel, the convolutional code with block interleaving has a gain of 2dB, and it is confirmed that the underwater acoustic communication performance is improved.

The Acoustic Characteristics of KRISO Cavitation Tunnel for Measurement of Underwater Noise (수중소음 계측을 위한 KRISO 캐비테이션 터널의 음향학적 특성)

  • In the KRISO cavitation tunnel, the acoustic characteristics for the measurement of underwater noise are investigated, The background noise is measured and analyzed up to 100kHz at various test conditions. The noise level of the KRISO cavitation tunnel is compared with those of the other cavitation tunnels which have been designed for the noise study[HYKAT(Germany), GTH(France), etc.]. In order to investigate the background noise source. the coherence between structural vibration and noise level is analyzed using the B&K 3550 FFT analyzer. The experimental results show the possibility of the noise study and suggest the improvement plan.

The Flow Noise Characteristics on Hydrophone Installation Method in the Cavitation Tunnel (캐비테이션 터널에서의 수중청음기 설치 방법에 따른 유동소음 특성)

  • As the existing noise measuring device was affected the flow-field and structural vibration directly, new experimental device was required. Two Hydrophone Boxes are designed and their performances are investigated. The noise level of the KRISO cavitation tunnel is compared with those of the other cavitation tunnels which have been designed for the noise study. The present experimental results show the possibility of the full-scale prediction for propeller cavitation noise and the improvement of the measurement performance at the range of low-frequency.

Modeling and Vibration Control of Hull Structure Using Piezoelectric Composite Actuators (압전복합재 작동기를 이용한 Hull 구조물의 모델링 및 진동제어)

  • In this paper, dynamic modeling of hull structure including surface-bonded piezoelectric composite actuator was developed and structural vibration control performance was evaluated. Cylindrical shell structure with end-caps was considered as a host structure which could be used as a simple model of fuselage of aircraft and underwater vehicles. An advanced piezoelectric composite, macro-fiber composite(MFC), which has been developed in NASA Langley Research Center was applied for the effective structural vibration control. MFC has great flexibility by using piezoceramic fiber sheet and enhanced piezoelectric effect for in-plane motion by utilizing interdigitated electrode. Governing Equations were derived from the finite element model and modal characteristics were investigated. Modal test was conducted to verify the finite element model. Optimal controller was designed and implemented for the evaluation of vibration control performance. Structural vibration was controlled effectively by applying proper control input to the piezoelectric actuators.

Analysis on the Movement of Bag-Net in Set-Net by Telemetry Techniques (텔레메트리 기법에 의한 정치망 원통의 거동 해석)

  • The authors reconstruct a mooring type underwater positioning system to measure the movement of bag-net in a set-net by long base line mode with four transponders attached on the bag-net in latitudinal and a transponder fixed on the sea bed. To confirm the practical use of the system, the field experiments were carried out at the Jaran Bay, Kosung, Kyungnam Prov., on October 6, 2000 (neap tide) and November 28, 2000 (spring tide). And the vertical oscillation of bag-net was observed with three data loggers attached on the bottom of bag-net in longitudinal on November 28, 2000. The longitudinal movement range, the latitudinal one and the vertical one of the bag-net were 3.2 m, 3.4 m and 2.1 m. respectively. At the spring tide, these variations were 7.8 m, 7.8 m and 5.0 m, respectively. The vertical oscillation range about the bottom of the bag-net at near point of the slope net, at the middle part and at far point from the slope net were 3.2 m, 3.7 m and 8.4 m, respectively. The depth of the bottom net was decreased and its vertical oscillation appeared frequently when the current speed was more than 10 cm/s and the current direction was significantly different from the longitudinal axis of the bag-net. The variation of hydrophone coordinates measured by the transponder fixed on the sea bed presents that hydrophones equipped to the frame line of the set-net could be moved within several meters due to the tidal current. The fact indicates that the compensation of hydrophone coordinates is necessary to reduce the measuring errors. The position measuring errors of x, y and z axis of the system measured in the cage of aquaculture were 0.6 m, 0.8 m, and 1.2 m, respectively. And the errors of the transponders those were close to the base lines or placed in the baselines were smaller than those of others.

  • Error vector propagation method is applied to the elliptic mild slope equation in order to reduce the computation time. Results from the elliptic, parabolic, and hyperbolic models are compared with experimental data for an elliptic shoal. Also, results of the elliptic and hyperbolic models are compared with experimental data for a detached breakwater. As a result of applying this model. it is concluded that the present model satisfactorily reduces the computation time compared with other numerical models. In the accuracy of solutions, there are some oscillations but the trend compares well with other models.
