  • When high surge voltage invaded into the ground rod contacted with ground water, the ionization phenomena are happened in the water. Although some researchers have surveyed the ionization phenomena in soil, they have just analyzed the variation of the ground resistance. The most important role of the ground rod is to elect human beings from potential rise and to dissipate energy to the earth safely. In this wort we presented the method evaluating the potential reduction and energy dispersion. Also we analyzed theses factors as a function of charging voltages at the water resistivity of $50\;{\Omega}{\cdot}m$ using the Matlab Program. As a result the ground rod potential was reduced to 38 kV by ionization just below breakdown voltage. The energy more than half of the total injected energy was dispersed through the grounding electrode caused due to ionization.

  • In radar signal processing, an A/D converter with sufficient dynamic range and high sampling speed is required to detect the weakest target signals in heavy clutter and ECM environments. As the sampling frequency increases, the amount of digital data transfered to the signal processing module is also increased. To overcome these massive data transfer burden, we need an A/D conversion module with an enough data transfer rate. In this paper, we proposed an implementation scheme of a new A/D conversio module that can be used in multi-mode 3-D phased array radar signal processing system, and evaluated the performance. The proposed A/D conversion module is implemented with a standard A/D converter and a 6U-standard VME bus.

  • The purpose of this study is to find the light intensity which induced maximum gathering rate and to observe the variation of the gathering rate both in daytime and at night by suing Rudder fish, Girella punctata(Gray). An experimental tank(360L*50W*55H cm) was set up in a dark room. An illumination system was attached to the end of one side of the tank to control horizontal light intensity. Eight artificial light sources were prepared by combination of three light bulbs(10W, 60W, 100W) and eight filters. During the experiment water depth was maintained 50cm level in the tank. The tank was marked into six longitudinal sections each being 60cm long to observe the distribution of fish. The fish were acclimatized in dark condition for 50 minutes prior to the main experiment. Upon turning on the light, the number of fish in each section was counted 60 times every 30 seconds, and the gathering rate was obtained from the average number of fish in each section. The light intensity inducing maximum gathering rate was 2.98 lux(1.90-4.40 lux) at daytime and 298.56 lux(188.44-444.96 lux) at night. The variation of the gathering rate of fish in illumination time was great and irregularly fluctuated, but did not show any definite pattern. It was somewhat difference between daytime and night.

  • The purpose of this study is to find the light intensity which induces maximum gathering rate and to observe the variation of the gathering rate both in daytime and at night by using marbled sole, Limanda yokohamae (Gunther). An experimental tank ($360L{\times}50W{\times}55H\;cm$) was set up in a dark room. An illumination system was attached to the end of one side of the tank to control horizontal light intensity. Six artificial light sources were prepared by combination of two light bulbs (5W, 150W) and seven filters. During the experiment water depth was maintained 50 cm level in the tank. The tank was marked into six longitudinal sections each being 60 cm long to observe the distribution of fish. The fish were acclimatized in dark condition for 50 minutes prior to the main experiment. Upon turning on the light, the number of fish in each section was counted 40 times every 30 seconds, and the gathering rate was obtained from the average number of fish in each section. The light intensity inducing maximum gathering rate was 1.9 lux ($1.2{\sim}2.9\;lux$) in the daytime and 0.7 lux ($0.5{\sim}1.1\;lux$) at night. The variation of the gathering rate of fish in illumination time was small and comparatively fluctuated with stability.

  • In this paper, to propose a valid method solving a problem relevant to grounding from actual field data, the experimental results relevant to touch and step voltages and surface potential profiles measured around the real-sized and small-sized grounding electrode models were described. The ground surface potential profiles and dangerous voltages around the concrete pedestals employed in street facilities such as street lamps, traffic signal lamp and controllers as a case study were measured and discussed. The hemispherical cell with a diameter of 1,160[mm] was employed to simulate uniform soil. As a result, the results measured with the small-sized model were in reasonably agreement with the data obtained from the real-sized installation. It was found that the small-sized model test could be employed as a useful means evaluating the dangerous voltages around grounding electrodes installed at the inaccessible areas such as mountains, underground, underwater, and so on.

  • A dielectric pellets bedded parallel plates with a membrane centered have been proposed as an ion separation and collection system in water. and effects of the relative dielectric constant and the applied square wave pulse voltage on the characteristics of ion separation and collection in tap water and NaCl dissolved tap water have been investigated. As a result, electrolyzed water of pH 3.1 and 10.6 were obtained with only tap water at the pulse current of 1.0[A] and flow rate of 0.5[LPM]. And the higher ionized water of pH 2.8 and pH 11.7 ware obtained in 0.1[%wt] NaCl dissolved water. When the dielectric pellets of BaTiO$_3$ having the highest dielectric constant were bedded in the ion separation and collection cell, the ionized water of pH 2.7 and pH 11.7 were obtained with only tap water. And the ionized water of pH 2.4 and pH 12.0 were obtained in 0.1[wt%] NaCl dissolved tap water with the dielectrics pellets bedded ones.

  • A silent type ozone generator using water surface has been studied and improved its ozone generation characteristics by installing dielectric heads in the just under the surface of the wale- At this time, different permittivitis of dielectric beads were used to change the discharge condition of water surface. The current-voltage characteristics and characteristics of ozone generation quantity of the test system were investigated and discharge photos of glass beads were observed The height of Taylor cone may be the cause of the discharge bridge to decrease the ozone generation on the discharge spacing. In this study, the hight of Taylor cone could be controlled greatly by installing dielectric beads just under the water surface. Therefore a higher ozone generation also could be obtained. As the permittivity of dielectric material increased. discharge starting voltage was advanced and maximum 110 ppmy of ozone was generated by using the ferroelectric ball.

  • The purpose of the present study is to find the light intensity which induces maximum gathering rate and to observe the variation of the gathering rate both in' daytime and at night by using two species of commercial fishes: rock bream, Oplegnathus fasciatus(Temminet et Schlegel) and glass-puffer,\ulcorner Fugu.niphobles (Jordan \ulcorneret. Snyder). An experimental tank($360L{\times}50W{\times}55H cm$) was set up in a dark room. An illumination system was attached to one end of the tank to control horizontal light intensity. Six artificial light sources were prepared by combination of two light bulbs (5W, 150W) and seven filters. During the. experiment water depth was maintained 50 em level in the tank. The tank was marked into six longitudinal sections each, being 60 cm long to observe the distribution of fish. The fish were acclimatized in dark condition for 40 minutes prior to the main experiment. Upon turning on the light, the number of fish in each section was counted40 times every 30 seconds, and the gathering rates were obtain from th~ average number of. fish' in each section. The light intensity inducing maximum gathering rate is as follows: rock bream: 162.0 lux (104,3--238, 1 lux) (day), 162.0 lux (104.3--238.1 lux) (night). grass puffer: 16.6 lux (10.6--24.5 lux) (day), 1. 9 lux (1. 2-2. 9 lUX) (night). Trend .of the gathering rate in illumination time revealed different results in two fish species. Gathering rate of rock bream showed the increasing trend fluctuately with the lapse of ' illumination time. However, that of grass puffer showed the increasing trend gradually at the early period of the illumination time and the uniform trend at the latter period with little distictive fluctuation.
