수소와 액화석유 가스의 공기혼합기의 폭발 후 화재로 전이 연구 (A Study on the Transition of Hydrogen-Air and LPG-Air Explosion to Fire)

  • 실린더형의 내용적 6리터의 용기를 이용하여 수소와 액화석유 가스(LPG)의 폭발 특성을 측정하였고 270리터의 직육면체 용기를 이용하여 폭발 후 화재로의 전이 현상을 실험하였다. 폭발 특성은 strain type 압력센서를 사용하여 측정하였으며 폭발 후 화재로의 전이 현상은 고속카메라로 촬영하여 분석하였다. 실험 결과 완전 연소 농도 비보다 약간 높은 농도에서 최대 폭발압력을 나타내었다. 폭발압력 상승 속도와 화염 전파속도는 연소속도와 비례함을 알 수 있었으며 이러한 폭발 특성들은 폭발 후 화재로의 전이에 영향을 미침을 알 수 있었다. 또한 폭발 화염온도, 화염의 용기 내 체류시간 등도 폭발 후 화재로의 전이에 중요한 변수가 됨을 알 수 있었다.

몇 가지 냉매를 사용한 이산화탄소 액화에 대한 비교 연구 (Comparative Research on the Carbon Dioxide Liquefaction Using Several Refrigerants)

  • In this study, we compared the performance of several refrigeration cycles using different refrigerants and utilizing the cold heat of liquefied natural gas (LNG) for the liquefaction of carbon dioxide. The final conditions for the liquefied CO2 were set to -20℃ and 20 bar. The refrigerants used included R404a, ammonia, propane, and propylene using a vapor recompression refrigeration cycle. For the refrigeration cycle, the CO2 at room temperature and pressure was compressed in a two-stage compression process with an intermediate cooling stage using a refrigeration unit. To compare with the liquefaction process using refrigeration, we compressed the CO2 to 8 bar in a single compression stage and cooled it to around -50℃ using the cold heat of the LNG before liquefying it. Results showed that using ammonia as the refrigerant required the least amount of compressor power for the liquefaction process, and the heat transfer area of the evaporator was the smallest when using propylene as the refrigerant. Using the cold heat of LNG instead of refrigeration using R404a resulted in approximately 69% less energy consumption.

  • If the hydrogen industry is activated, the introduction of C-type and pressurized liquefied hydrogen (LH2) tank suitable for small and medium-sized transp- ortation and storage will be given priority in the future. Therefore in this paper, the behavior for the LH2 property changes and boil-off gas (BOG) treatment of the C-type cargo tank through voyage of the LH2 carrier and pressurized tank of the LH2 receiving terminal were analyzed through computational simulations by making assumptions about the carrier operation and unloading conditions.

  • 화석연료를 사용하는 선박이나 자동차는 $CO_2$가스를 과대하게 발생하므로 지구 온난화에 영향을 주기 때문에 화석연료 대신 수소를 사용하는 수소연료전지자동차(FCV)가 크게 각광을 받고 있다. 우리나라는 현대자동차가 FCV자동차를 미국, 일본, 독일 등의 선진국들의 자동차회사와 경쟁적으로 개발하고 있다. 수소는 제철소의 코크스 공장, 서유화학공장의 부산물로 얻으며, 석탄, 메탄가스 등을 고온에서 증기와 반응시켜서 메탄 수증기개질법과 압력스윙흡착법 또는 막분리형멤브레인개질 법을 이용한 수소분리형개질방법으로 고순도 수소를 제조하거나 물을 전기분해하여 제조한다. 수소는 전자공업, 금속 및 화학공업, 로켓 연료 및 공장, 병원, 가정용 등의 연료전지시스템이나 FCV의 연료로 사용하고 있다. 수소의 저장은 수소용기에 수소를 압축하는 방법과 액화수소로 저장하는 방법이 일반적이고, 최근 수소화물이나 유기화학하이드라이드법으로 저장하여 수소스테이션에 운반해서 사용한다. 우리나라는 현재 13개소의 수소스테이션이 가동 중에 있으며, 향후 43개소를 설치할 계획이다.

수소재액화를 위한 자기냉매용 HoN 나노분말 합성 및 자기열량효과 연구 (Study on the Synthesis of HoN Nanoparticles and Magnetocaloric Effect as Magnetic Refrigerant for Hydrogen Re-Liquefaction)

  • Rare-earth (RE) nitrides can be used as magnetocaloric materials in low temperature. They exhibit ferromagnetism and have Curie temperature in the region from 6 to 70 K. In this study, Holmium nitride (HoN) nano particles were prepared through plasma arc discharge technique and their magnetocaloric properties were studied. Nitrogen gas ($N_2$) was employed as an active element for arc discharge between two electrodes maintained at a constant current. Also, it played an important role not only as a reducing agent but also as an inevitable source of excited nitrogen molecules and nitrogen ions for the formation of HoN phase. Partial pressure of $N_2$ was systematically varied from 0 to 28,000 Pa in order to obtain single phase of HoN with minimal impurities. Magnetic entropy change (${\Delta}S_m$) was calculated with data set measured by PPMS (Physical Property Measurement System). The as-synthesized HoN particles have shown a magnetic entropy change ${\Delta}S_m$) of 27.5 J/kgK in applied field of 50,000 Oe at 14.2 K thereby demonstrating its ability to be applied as an effective magnetic refrigerant towards the re-liquefaction of hydrogen.

극저온 액화가스 누출에 의한 선체 구조용 강재의 샤르피 충격성능에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Charpy Impact Performance of Structural Steel Considering the Leakage of Cryogenic Liquefied Gas)

  • Environmental regulations are being strengthened worldwide to solve global warming. For this reason, interest in eco-friendly gas fuels such as LNG and hydrogen is continuously increasing. However, when adopting eco-friendly gas fuel, liquefying at a cryogenic temperature is essential to ensure economic feasibility in storage and transportation. Although austenitic stainless steel is typically applied to store cryogenic liquefied gas, structural steel can experience sudden heat shrinkage in the case of leakage in the loading and unloading process of LNG. In severe cases, the phase of the steel may change, so care is required. This study conducted Charpy impact tests on steel material in nine different temperature ranges, from room to cryogenic temperatures, to analyze the effects of cryogenic liquefied gas leaks. As a result of the study, it was not easy to find variations in ductile to brittle transition temperature (DBTT) due to the leakage of cryogenic liquefied gas. Still, the overall impact toughness tended to decrease, and these results were verified through fracture surface analysis. In summary, brittle fracture of the steel plate may occur when a secondary load is applied to steel for hull structural use exposed to a cryogenic environment of -40 ℃ or lower. Therefore, it needs to be considered in the ship design and operating conditions.

초저온 냉각튜브 내 수소기체의 액체수소로의 상변환 분석 (Analysis of Gas-to-Liquid Phase Transformation of Hydrogen in Cryogenic Cooling Tube)

  • 에너지 위기 시대를 맞이하여 수소에너지가 가장 가능성 있는 대체에너지 중의 하나로 고려되고 있다. 액체수소는 기체수소와 비교하여 단위 부피당 에너지 밀도가 월등히 높으며 수소에너지의 탁월한 저장 방법으로 간주되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 2 상 모델에 기초를 둔 Navier-Stokes 식을 전산유체역학 프로그램을 이용하여 풀었으며, 초저온 냉각 튜브를 통과하면서 기체수소가 액화되는 과정을 분석하였다. 열전도율이 높은 구리관을 초저온 냉각을 위한 관의 재질로 가정하였다. 기체수소의 유입속도를 5 cm/s, 10 cm/s, 20 cm/s로 변화시키면서 냉각튜브 내 유체 온도분포, 축방향 및 반경방향 유체 속도, 기체 및 액체 수소 부피분율 분포를 각각 분석하였다. 본 연구 결과는 향후 액체수소 제조를 위한 기체수소 초저온 냉각기의 설계 및 제작을 위한 기초자료로 활용이 될 것으로 기대된다.

대형 수소 액화 플랜트의 정량적 위험도 평가에 관한 연구 (Study on a Quantitative Risk Assessment of a Large-scale Hydrogen Liquefaction Plant)

  • In the present study, the frequency of the undesired accident was estimated for a quantitative risk assessment of a large-scale hydrogen liquefaction plant. As a representative example, the hydrogen liquefaction plant located in Ingolstadt, Germany was chosen. From the analysis of the liquefaction process and operating conditions, it was found that a $LH_2$ storage tank was one of the most dangerous facilities. Based on the accident scenarios, frequencies of possible accidents were quantitatively evaluated by using both fault tree analysis and event tree analysis. The overall expected frequency of the loss containment of hydrogen from the $LH_2$ storage tank was $6.83{\times}10^{-1}$times/yr (once per 1.5 years). It showed that only 0.1% of the hydrogen release from the $LH_2$ storage tank occurred instantaneously. Also, the incident outcome frequencies were calculated by multiplying the expected frequencies with the conditional probabilities resulting from the event tree diagram for hydrogen release. The results showed that most of the incident outcomes were dominated by fire, which was 71.8% of the entire accident outcome. The rest of the accident (about 27.7%) might have no effect to the population.

액체수소 제조를 위한 냉각튜브 내 유동장 해석 (Analysis on Fluid Dynamics in the Cooling Tube for Manufacture of Liquid Hydrogen)

  • We present a study of hydrogen liquefaction using the CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) program. Liquid hydrogen has been evaluated as the best storage method because of high energy per unit mass than gas hydrogen, but efficient hydrogen liquefaction and storage are needed in order to apply actual industrial. In this study, we use the CFD program that apply navier-stokes equation. A hydrogen is cooled by heat transfer with the while passing gas hydrogen through Cu tube. We change diameter and flow rate and observe a change of the temperature and flow rate of gas hydrogen passing through Cu tube. As a result of, less flow rate and larger diameter are confirmed that liquefaction is more well. Ultimately, When we simulate the hydrogen liquefaction by using CFD program, and find optimum results, it is expected to contribute to the more effective and economical aspects such as time and cost.

수소액화 예냉용 소형 스털링 극저온 냉동기 특성 연구 (A Study on Stirling Cryocooler for Precooling Hydrogen Liquefier)

  • Korea Institute of Machinery & Materials (KIMM) has developed a high efficient Stirling cryocooler with moving magnet linear compressor for precooling hydrogen liquefier and cooling high temperature superconductor (HTS) devices, such as superconductor cable and superconductor fault current limiters. Hydrogen liquefier and HTS electric devices require cryocooler with cooling capacity of hundred watts to kilowatts at 77 K. The compressor in the Stirling cryocooler uses opposed moving magnet linear motors to drive opposed pistons. High efficient Stirling cryocooler is designed by SAGE-software, manufactured and tested systematically. A cooling capacity of 1 kW at 77 K with an electric input power of 9.6 kW has been analyzed. But prototype test results of the Stirling cryocooler have the cooling capacity of 0.65 kW at 76.8 K with an electric input power of 8.1 kW. And then, 21.5% Carnot COP (Coefficient of performance) of the prototype Stirling cryocooler is achieved. The comparison analysis between SAGE-model and experimental results has shown the direction for further design optimization of the Stirling cryocooler.
