Optimal Directivity Synthesis of Ultrasonic Transducers Using a Combined Algorithm (조합 알고리즘에 의한 초음파 트랜스듀서의 최적 지향성합성)

  • In this paper, we proposed an algorithm that used a direct method to set an initial value of Broydon-Fletcher-Goldfarb-Shanno(BFGS) method and, accordingly, conducted an experiment in optimal directivity synthesis of adaptive ultrasonic transducer by point source array. To certify the efficiency of this method, quasi-ideal beam with arbitrary beam width, rotating beam, and multi beam, all with the limited side lobe level -30dB, were chosen to check the problem of directivity synthesis that was formed by point source array in the second dimensional sound field. The numerical calculation results showed that the proposed method performed the directivity synthesis faster than the BFGS method did. In addition, the proposed method showed a good error correction for directivity synthesis, and did not demand the choice of initial value. Finally, it is also shown that the proposed method can be used for the adaptive control that was not possible with the direct method alone.

GA-based parameter identification of DC motors (DC 모터의 GA 기반 파라미터 추정)

  • In order to design the speed controller of the DC motor system, firstly, parameters estimation of the system must be preceded. In this paper, we proposed the application of genetic algorithm(GA) optimization in estimating the parameters of DC motor. Estimated models are considered both first and second order models, and each estimated model is optimized by minimizing three different types of the evaluation function of GA. Also, GA is imported in comparison with estimation result of numerical analysis method because of its power in searching entire solution space with more probability of finding the global optimum. Data for parameter estimation is acquired from input and output signals of the actual experiment device and the butterworth filter also designs for removing noise in the signals. Finally comparison between real data of the actual device and estimated models is presented to indicate effectiveness and resolution of proposed identification method.

Implementation of PLC-Based Multi-modem for Process Automation of Non-destructive Inspection (비파괴검사 공정자동화를 위한 전력선통신 기반 복합통신장치의 구현)

  • In this paper, a multi-modem for process automation of non-destructive inspection (NDI) which possibly generates various kinds of data is implemented and verified. Here, a variety of data such as control signals, text data, image data generated by inspection devices, sensors, computers are transmitted to the multi-modem via serial, Ethernet, and coaxial cable. We exploit a communication network in which powerlines are used as backbone transmission media. Thus, the implemented multi-modem has various ports and corresponding interfaces for data transmission. As a result of practical experiments, the multi-modem maintains almost constant data rate with little waveform distortion. In addition, the experiments confirm that the modem operates normally under extreme variation of temperature. It is, therefore, considered that the multi-modem can contribute significantly to implement powerline communication (PLC)-based process automation for NDI in which various kinds of data are practically generated.

Fracture Behavior of Adhesive-Bonded Aluminum Foam with Double Cantilever Beam (접착제로 접합된 이중외팔보 알루미늄폼의 파괴 거동에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, closed-cell aluminum foam with an initial crack was investigated to produce an axial load-time graph. Using the 10-kN Landmarks of MTS Corporation, a 15-mm/min velocity of mode I shape was applied to the aluminum foam specimen using the displacement control method. ABAQUS 6.10 simulation was used to model and analyze the identical model in three dimensions under conditions identical to those of the experiment. The energy release rate was calculated on the basis of an axial load-displacement graph obtained from the experiment and a transient image of the crack length, and then an FE model was analyzed on the basis of this fracture energy condition. The relation between load and displacement was discussed; it was found that the aluminum foam deformed somewhat less than the adhesive layer owing to the difference in elastic modulus.

  • 고속도로의 교통혼잡을 관리하기 위해서는 근본적으로 혼잡지점 상류부의 진입교통량을 제어해야 한다. 이를 위한 효과적인 램프미터링 운영전략이나 고속도로 교통정보제공방안을 수립하기 위해서는 혼잡영향권(대기행렬길이)에 관한 신뢰성 있는 데이터가 반드시 필요하다. 고속도로의 대기행렬길이를 산정하기 위해 일반적으로 충격파이론과 Queueing이론을 제시하고 있다. 그러나, 기존의 충격파 이론을 포물선형의 교통량-밀도관계식을 근거로 하고 있어 충격파간에 발생하는 부수적인 충격파를 해석하는 과정이 수학적으로 불가능하여 실질적인 목적으로 사용할 수 없음은 이미 잘 알고 있는 사실이다. 최근에 이러한 한계를 극복할 수 있는 새로운 방법으로 교통량 밀도간의 관계식을 삼각형으로 가정하고 교통량 대신에 누적교통량을 사용하는 Simplified Theory of Kinematic Waves In Highway Traffic이 개발(Newell, 1993)되었지만, 이 방법을 적용하기 위해서는 기본적으로 대상 고속도로 구간의 교통량-밀도관계식을 규명해야 하는 어려움이 있다.(사실 실시간으로 밀도데이터를 수집하기란 불가능하다.) Queueing이론에서 제시하는 대기행렬은 모두 대기차량이 병목지점에 수직으로 정렬하여 도로를 점유하지 않는 Point Queue(혹은 Vertical stack Queue)로서 실제로 도로상에 정렬된 대기행렬(Real Physical Queue)과는 전혀 다르다. 이미 입증된 바 있어, Queueing이론을 이용함은 타당성이 없다. 이러한 사실에 근거하여 본 연구는 고속도로 대기행렬길이를 산정할 수 있는 모형개발을 위한 기초연구로서 혼잡상태의 연속류 특성을 분석하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해, 본 연구에서는 서울시 도시고속도로에서 수집한 실제 데이터를 이용하여 진입램프지점의 혼잡상태에서 대기행렬의 증가 또는 감소하는 과정을 분석하였다. 주요 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 혼잡초기의 대기행렬은 다른 혼잡시기에 비해 상대적으로 급속한 속도로 증가함. 2. 혼잡초기의 대기행렬의 밀도는 다른 혼잡시기에 비해 비교적 낮음. 3. 위의 두 결과는 서로 관계가 있으며, 혼잡시 운전자의 행태(차두간격)과 혼잡기간중에도 변화함을 의미함. 4. 교통변수 중에서 대기행렬길이를 산정하는데 적합한 교통변수를 교통량과 밀도로 판단됨. 5. Queueing이론에서 제시하는 대리행렬길이 산정방법인 대기차량대수$\times$평균차두간격은 대기행렬내 밀도가 일정하지 않아 부적합함을 재확인함. 6. 혼잡초기를 제외한 혼잡기간 중 대기행렬길이는 밀도데이터 없이도 혼잡 상류부의 도착교통량과 병목지점 본선통과교통량만을 이용하여 추정이 가능함. 7. 이상에 연구한 결과를 토대로, 고속도로 대기행렬길이를 산정할 수 있는 기초적인 도형을 제시함.

Preparation and Characterization of Ultra-fine PAI Continuous Fibers Using Electrospinning Process (전기방사 공정을 이용한 극세 PAI 연속사 제조 방법에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, the ultra-fine fibers (UFs) having an alignment were prepared by electrospinning process, using different collectors made from various materials and collecting methods. A spinning solution was prepared by dissolving poly(amide-co-imide) (PAI) in NMP. The UFs were prepared by using various collectors and collecting methods, and the fibrous shapes were observed by SEM. As a result, a sort of materials of collectors and the collecting methods had not influenced on the average diameters of fibers but the forms of them. The just accumulated UFs on the collectors formed net structures, which had no alignment. On the contrary, the continuously collected UFs formed long fibers with alignment. It was found that the water collector played the roles of the fiber haul, temporary collector, moving path of fibers, and caused some friction between fibers and water, attributed to the formation of continuous UFs at a suitable collecting speed.

  • In position detection for super speed maglev propulsion control, the influence of position signal delay and transmit cycle on propulsion power degradation is investigated analytically and validated by test bed experiments. As a solution to the problem caused by signal transmit, position signal compensation and estimation method is proposed and applied to the test bed. Through experiments, it is confirmed that by adapting the proposed method, the propulsion power is increased remarkably, which results in acceleration and velocity performance improvement. This method could be effectively applied to position detection system of Korean super speed maglev which is under development.

Effects of Cooling Method Followed by Casting on the Interfacial and Mechanical Properties of Dental CP-Ti Casts (치과용 티타늄 주조체의 냉각방법이 표면반응층 및 기계적 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study. we have intended to control the properties of surface reaction zone generated between pure titanium and oxide investment moulds. Commercially pure titanium was centrifugally casted and silica$.$alumina based phosphate bonded investment was used as the mould material. The effect of cooling methods after casting on the surface reaction zone and mechanical properties of casts were investigated. The resulting casts showed the multilayered surface reaction zone regardless of cooling method. Especially. water cooling method produced the titanium casts with thinner surface reaction zone. weaker strength. and higher elongation properties compared to air cooling. It can thus be known that the resulting casts had satisfactory mechanical properties as dental materials. From these results, the cooling rate dependence of interfacial and mechanical properties can be attributed to the diffusion of oxygen from casting environment, which control the reaction of titanium and mould.

  • A legged robot is friendly to human because it is resemble to human. And the robot can obtain support points freely because it has high degree of freedom for several joint as compared with a wheeled robot. Also the robot can create the relative position at desired position between support position and robot. The joint of robot cu used as manipulator. On the contrary the mechanism of robot is complicated to have many joint and moving speed is lower than wheeled robot. Also the legged robot is needed a special control not to fall on the ground because the robot is easy to vibrate when it is moving. The 4 leg structure is the minimum leg numbers not to fall and to realize safety gait continuously. A trot gait is investigated through experiments using a quadruped walking robot named TITAN-VIII.

Fabrication of anodic aluminum oxide nanotemplate using sputtered aluminum thin film (스퍼터 증착된 알루미늄 박막을 이용한 양극산화 알루미늄 나노템플레이트 제조)

  • Anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) nanotemplates for nano electronic device applications have been attracting increasing interest because of ease of fabrication, low cost process, and possible fabrication in large area. The size and density of the nanostructured materials can be controlled by changing the pore diameter and the pole density of AAO nanotemplate. In this paper, nano porous alumina films AAO nanotemplate was fabricated by second anodization method using sputterd Al films. In addition, effects of electrolyte temperature and anodization voltate on the microstructure of porous alumina films were investigated. As the electrolyte temperature was increased from $8^{\circ}C$ to $20^{\circ}C$, the growth rate of nanoporous alumina films was increased from 86.2 nm/min to 179.5 nm/min. The AAO nanotemplate fabricated with optimal condition had the mean pore diameter of 70 nm and the pore depth of $1\;{\mu}m$.
