Estimation of Perceived Curve Radius Considering Visual Distortion at Curve Sections (곡선부 시각왜곡현상을 고려한 인지곡선반경 산정에 관한 연구)

  • The seriousness of a traffic accident appears relatively higher on the curve sections compared with the straight sections due to a change in speed caused by a change in the driver's sight. In particular, the visual distortion phenomenon, one of the dangerous factors taking place on the curve sections, appears different according to the road's geometric design. Although it is a genuinely principal design factor which should be necessarily considered in designing a road, the previous researches on establishing the design standards for it have been insufficiently conducted. As a result, the establishment of the road design standards for the curve sections considering the sight distortion phenomenon is desperately required. This research examined the previous researches on the driver's behaviors, the driver's sight characteristics and the perceived curve radius on the curve sections, and developed the theoretical model of perceived curve radius to which a mathematical technique is applied in consideration of the visual distortion phenomenon on the two-lane curve sections in a local area. In addition, after the theoretical visual distortion was calculated on the basis of the theoretical model of perceived curve radius, the range of error on the theoretical recognition radius model formula was verified through comparing it with the previous researches' experiential visual distortion level and analyzing both of them. As a result, it was observed that as the curve radius practically increases in the theoretical recognition curve radius, the range of error tends to go down, which reflects well the characteristics of the curve sections on the road. Based on this research, it is expected that this research will be helpful to eliminate the safety defects when designing the curve sections and contribute to develop the road design standards considering human factors in the future.

Development of a model to predict Operating Speed (주행속도 예측을 위한 모형 개발 (2차로 지방부 도로 중심으로))

  • This study introduces a developed artificial neural networks(ANN) model as a more efficient and reliable prediction model in operating speed Prediction with the 85th percentile horizontal curve of two-way rural highway in the aspect of evaluating highway design consistency. On the assumption that the speed is decided by highway geometry features, total 30 survey sites were selected. Data include currie radius, curve length, intersection angle, sight distance, lane width, and lane of those sites and were used as input layer data of the ANN. The optimized model structure was drawn by number of unit of hidden layer, learning coefficient, momentum coefficient, and change in learning frequency in multi-layer a ANN model. To verify learning Performance of ANN, 30 survey sites were selected while data in obtained from the 20 cites were used as learning data and those from the remaining 10 sites were used as predictive data. As a result of statistical verification, the model D of 4 types of ANN was evaluated as the most similar model to the actual operating speed value: R2 was 85% and %RMSE was 0.0204.

  • The speed enforcement camera has been regarded as one of the most important safety countermeasures. Drivers decelerate in front of the speed enforcement camera and gain speed up after passing the camera. So there is a strong need to develop the method how to place the camera to overcome this problem. This study applied the concept of design consistency to the installation of the camera, so speed difference along the road sections should be controlled within the predetermined boundary. Specially, this study also regarded camera as the one of the elements of the road alignments which can change the speed of drivers abruptly, and suggested the way to put this concept into the selection of the placement of the camera.

  • Square slices of sea tangle was dried in constant condition of thickness (1.54mm), air temperature $(50^{\circ}C)$, relative humidity $(30\%)$ and air velocity (0.4m/s). The shrunk surface area and the shrinking rate were investigated. The results obtained are summarized as follows : 1) Comparing the shrinking of transverse section with that of vertical section, the transverse section was proceeded more double shrinkage than vertical section. 2) The shrunk surface area curve showed nearly a linear shrinkage up to 90min of drying time. 3) The shrinking rate was rapidly increased in first falling rate period, and was largest in the early period of second falling rate period.

펜톤유사반응에 의한 매립지 침출수의 CODcr 제거 특성 연구

  • 본 연구에서는 펜톤산화반응에서 과산화수소의 분해촉매로 일반적으로 쓰이는 Fe(II) 형태의 철염대신 Fe$^{\circ}$형태의 분말 철을 이용한 펜톤유사반응(Fenton-like oxidation)에 의한 매립지 침출수(sCODcr 1,100 mg/L, pH 8)의 CODcr 제거특성에 관한 회분식 처리실험을 수행하였다. 실험조건으로는 상온, 상압조건에서 Jar tester를 사용하여 분말 철의 주입 량과 산 세척도, 초기 반응 pH, 과산화수소의 주입 량을 변화시켜가며 침출수의 CODcr 제거효율 의 변화를 관찰하였으며, 이때 과산화수소의 분해 특성과 반응 중 pH의 변화도 함께 분석하였다. 반응은 모든 조건에서 대부분 약 30분 이내에 종료되었으며 그 이후의 반응변화는 미미하였다. 산 세척에 의한 분말 철 표면의 개질로 반응성의 향상을 관찰할 수 있었으며, 분말 철 주입 량을 증가함에 따라 반응속도가 일정하게 증가함을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구에 서 CODcr의 제거 효율에 가장 큰 영향을 보여준 실험변수는 pH 였으며, 원수의 pH(8)를 2-4까지 조절하여 반응을 시켰을 때 최대 75%의 CODcr 제거효율을 얻을 수 있었다. 반응중 pH는 모든 조건에서 시간에 따라 증가하여 약 pH 9에서 더 이상 변화하지 않았다. 용액내 과산화수소의 잔류농도의 곡선은 반응 중 CODcr의 곡선과 유사한 변화를 나타내었다.

  • 기존 열자 승차감은, 주행중인 철도차량에서 승객이 느끼는 진동에 대하여 쾌적함의 정도라고 정의할 수 있으며, 기존 열차 승차감 기준으로는 ISO규격, Wz 평가법, UIC규격, KS규격 등이 있다. 기존의 열차 승차감 기준은 진동, 속도, 노이즈 등 기계적 요소만을 고려하므로, 승객이 느끼는 쾌적함을 평가하기에 한계가 있으며, 특히 곡선부 승차감을 평가하지 못하는 문제점이 잇으므로, 틸팅열차의 승차감을 평가하는데 어려움이 있다. 생체 신호를 기반으로 한 열차 승차감은, 기계적 요소들이 승객에게 미치는 영향이 심박, 혈압, 체온 등의 변화로 나타나므로, 이러한 생체 파라미터를 이용하여 열차 승차감을 평가하는 것이다. 특히 틸팅열차의 곡선부운행에 따른 틸팅 정도에 따라 발생하는 승차감의 변화를 측정하는데 적합하다.

  • 현재 PDP는 차세대 대형 평판 표시장치로서 각광을 받고 있으며 빠른 속도로 개발이 진행되고 있다. AC PDP에서 가장 큰 문제는 위도 및 방전효율의 향상과 전력손실의 저감, 높은 contrast의 실현, 제품 가격의 저하 등에 관한 문제이다. 본 연구에서는 벽전압 전달곡선을 이용한 방전 동작 특성에 대해 고찰하고자 한다. 방전 유지전압 주파수가 변화할 때 방전 개시전압이 감소하나 메모리 마진은 거의 동일함을 보였다. Duty 비를 변화시키면 방전개시전압은 감소하는 경향이 있지만 방전유지전압은 거의 일정하였다.

  • High frequency squeal noise can be generated when a railroad vehicle runs a sharp curved section; this noise causes environmental complaints and excessive wear on the wheel and the railroad track. In this paper, curved squeal noise experiments on a commercial railway were carried out to investigate this phenomenon. The relationship of the squeal noise pressure level, the frequency characteristics, the railway running speed, and the modal behavior of the wheel were investigated. At the same time, the lateral motion of the wheel relative to the rail was captured using a video camera; wheel movement was calculated when the noise was generated. queal noise occurred at the highest level at the inner front wheel; this phenomena is considered to be related to the lateral vibration response characteristics of the wheel. It can be seen that the magnitude of this squeal noise is not directly related to the increase in vehicle speed.

  • Smoothing a digital curve by averaging its connected points is widely employed to minimize sharp changes of the curve that are generally introduced by noise. An appropriate degree of smoothing is critical since the area or features of the original shape can be distorted at a higher degree while the noise is insufficiently removed at a lower degree. In this paper, we provide a mathematical relationship between the parameters, such as the number of iterations, average distance between neighboring points, weighting factors for averaging and the moving distance of the point on the curve after smoothing. Based on these findings, we propose to control the smoothed curve such that its deviation is bounded particular error level as well as to significantly expedite smoothing for a pixel-based digital curve.

  • In this study, a new dynamic interaction analysis method for tilting trains and curved track is presented. Three dimensional lumped parameter vehicle elements are used to model tilting train, and the proposed analysis technique can simulate driving direction change of vehicle, the effect of track cant, wheel-rail contact angle, and tilting angle of tilting trains, etc. The proposed method passed several basic verification tests, and it is expected that the suggested method is applicable for practical problems.
